This place is Springfield's new gem of a place. This is no exaggeration - this place is doing absolutely everything right. Such a great dining experience. Oh, did say that their Cajun items are absolutely incredible.?!! lol. Well, they are! . First off, the building has been renovated in such a top notch/fine look and feel. The downstairs and further downstairs ...are absolutely neat and never knew a Springfield building had such a design. . Now for the food: I don't know what else you'd want for a Cajun option. Absolutely everything is done homemade and zero shortcuts! Everything is so flavorful and better quality ingredients. From the appetizers, to the soups, to the entrees themselves: everything is done so good. . The service: here again, this detail is not overlooked. We had a fantastic night. For me the winning dish was the shrimp and grits. We also had the cod, and the La Reux salad. Our appetizers were the crab beignets. For birthday dessert we had the bread pudding! All were completely fantastic and the service was top notch. It really reminded me of the upper scale restaurants in the French Quarter. Definitely chef flavors. Original flavors. This is not a "we took some recipes off the internet and decided to open a NOLA restaurant" kind of place. I can say, La Reux would fit right in on Royal Street and deliver original flavors and be wildly successful and fit like a glove there. This place is fascinating because each floor has a different ambiance. The first floor is more casual, second floor down is cooler, and the third floor down in the cellar is dimly lit and very neat. We had great service, and the food was amazing. This was perfect for a date night. We split the budain balls and fried green tomatoes and both were delicious. I got the steak which was cooked perfectly, and my husband's alligator po boy was amazing. We ended it with a decadent cake. Also, the cocktails I had were phenomenal. Visited during happy hour on a Friday afternoon and had a great experience. We love sitting at the bar, so we appreciated the comfortable seating and beautiful stone bar top. The service was attentive and friendly, but the happy hour menu was the real standout. My wife was dying to try La Roux ever since it opened because she's a New Orleans native and this one looked promising. Settled on a corner of the up-and-coming C-street in North Springfield, there is much more to this spot than what meets the eye so "Laissez le Bon Temps Rouler!" The bar and bathrooms along with the first level of seating is what you immediately walk into with a giant painting in the wall paying homage to New Orleans, the bayou, with a local addition of Chappel Roan that was absolutely beautiful. The second floor (down) was more seating with a view of the kitchen where you can watch the chefs work their magic, however, this is not where our journey takes us. We went further down. What sets La Roux further apart from other locals is the basement, or is it a tunnel? Booked by reservation only, you and your party can drink and dine in the historic tunnel and it's as cool as it sounds! Each level has its own team of servers that are attentive and on-the-spot with taking orders and relaying orders with the kitchen and bar. It does seem that the WiFi signal underground does interfere with communications a bit, causing a delay for my wife's cat 2 hurricane drink which was reminiscent of the ones found on famed Bourbon Street. With the drinks we started with the sampler platter. The crab beignets could use some Cajun seasoning to add a little character, however, everything was really good and the sauces were fun to mix and match with the samples. The jambalaya was spot on accompanied by some of the biggest shrimp you'll find in town. The chicken supreme was also very good, if chicken is your thing. That was a panic order on my part because my first and second choices were both out of stock but I figured that was a sign that we would have to be back because, we will in fact be back! Maybe the biggest critique I have is once the drinks really start flowing in the tunnel, especially with larger parties, the volume of conversation is nearly deafening. Being on a date with my wife, this cut into conversation and being to able to hear the servers, but everyone was having a good time so it's hard to count this against. Second trip to this restaurant. First visit was better than the second. Great and creative menu! Service on my second trip (today) started off ok and only got worse. I sat at the bar. I was the only guest there. The bartender was also acting as hostess. She was pleasant. The place was not busy. Which can be a a struggle for staff that are used to being busy and hyper-vigilant when things are moving fast. Having worked in the biz (restaurants) in the distant past I can recognize the signs and risk to customer service. I had the escargot stuffed mushroom caps, a mushroom pasta and requested chicken breast, crème brûlée and cup of coffee. Both the escargot and the main dish had a glaze look as though they had been sitting under a heat lamp- my perception is that they were fired too early.. The bartender made a pot of coffee which I requested with my dessert, once I saw her prepping to make it, I offered to get the French press instead if it was any hassle, she was polite and said no and stated that likely there will be others that may want it too. My crème brûlée came (bartender was not in sight), I was hoping for the cup of coffee to go with it, but decided to start eating it anyway, figuring it would be ready soon. The bartender came back but then went to the back area with another server... 10-15 min later, comes out checks on a table behind me, meanwhile, another server gets a cup of coffee for another patron. The bartender starts back to the bar and sees the coffee getting poured. Pours me a cup and apologizes and comps the coffee. Trust me I get oversights, but it is easier to forgive when you see someone busting their butt... but this was not the case. The lack of awareness... my water glass was empty, empty wine glass and appetizer dish still in front of me. As I write this it may sound petty, first world concerns, but this is not an Olive Garden, the ambiance is metro- contemporary with French influence, very cool spot- def get a reservation for the BEAUTIFUL downstairs!... simply put, great menu and food, but disappointed by the service... tipped a straight 15%, I usually give a standard of 20% and go up to 30% if service is top notch. I truly believe this has to be the exception, but would have to read other reviews to see if my experience is trend worthy. Hopefully the owner sees this review and can tactfully use this to help servers maximize their income and help the reputation of this otherwise great establishment. Wonderful ambiance! Loved the vibe of each level, very different but cool. We got a glass of wine each which were very quick to come out. Service was good, we weren't checked on a lot but they seemed very busy. Ordered the alligator bites and mushroom and escargot. The alligator bites were good and the sauce was yummy. The mushroom & escargot was very salty but that's what we were expecting. Not many on each plate, so the 4 of us got to have about 1 bite each. I ordered the Icelandic cod, and everyone else got shrimp & grits. The shrimp and grits were highly rated by everyone but they did not get enough to eat. They got about 3 pieces of shrimp, some andouille sausage, and grits. The Icelandic cod had 0 seasoning whatsoever. The breading was yummy, but I had to eat the cod with the mashed potatoes to get any flavor whatsoever. The vegetables were very seasoned along with the mashed potatoes, but it seems like the cod was forgotten. Overall, an expensive meal for not a lot of food and we are still hungry, but the ambience is enough to bring us back. We want nicer restaurants to succeed in Springfield, so I hope this place can withstand the test of time! I recommend larger portion sizes and more attention to detail when it comes to seasoning. read more

My husband just had lunch here. The atmosphere is really special in Springfield! I had the lunch special which was a crab cake melt. It was served with a mushroom sage soup. The melt and soup were so rich and delicious. There was deep savory flavor to the soup. Yet it wasn't thick and creamy base. The melt had almost too much salt. The crab cake was light and fresh. The cheese made it super rich/fatty and went well. My husband had the flat iron with green beans and chips. The chips were thin and you could tell they changed their fry oil, which was nice. The steak came as ordered medium rare and blue cheese on top. The blue cheese was light and creamy. Green beans cooked well. Overall we rated it a 7.5/10. We would try again for dinner or lunch. Met one of the owners and a gem, lovely man, passionate about the feel and the food, who listened to my critique as I vacation in NOLA for Christmas. Love Réveillon dining and am hoping this place continues to build as a solid foundation. I understand they are working out the kinks of a new restaurant, that so many want to try, but maybe not quite enough staff/help somedays. The food was a mild blend of French/Cajun type of fusion. Party of 4, two college students: Bayou Board: Blue crab beignets, alligator bites, boudin balls, andouille, various sauces. We all agreed the crab beignets the best of the lot, and the little bits of gator should have been in bigger pieces. The Shrimp Po Boy actually one of the best dishes as the Gulf shrimp were cooked to perfection and had a great price. Crawfish Étouffée-trinity cooked down with tomato and brown roux, served with rice, green onion gremolata finish, was a solid 6, could not taste the crawfish, and it desperately needed bread; and unfortunately no bread basket, at all, (this would have been a serious no-no in the south). Hope they remedy that. The Country Gumbo smallish serving of Chicken and Andouille sausage in spicy brown roux, topped with fried okra, file powder, basmati rice, nice flavor, smooth, a 7. Lastly a vegetarian meal with the fried green tomato Po Boy and the Salade La Roux, 10, which filled the plate and was very satisfying for a lighter eater, and presented beautifully. The ending Banana Foster Cheesecake-Homemade Cheesecake with cinnamon, banana filling, topped with Caramel Rum & brown sugar sauce and sliced banana, gluten free. Not on fire, but it was still an interesting spin. The cave below the highlight and will dine there our next special occasion. 1. there were 4 of us for dinner and something in the apps or entrees caused all of us to become extremely bloated and gassy. We all started having the issues before we left the restaurant. the Bloating was unbelievable and all 4 of us were miserable for about 24 hours. 2. don't call cold bananas and cold caramel over store bought cheesecake "bananas foster cheesecake". very disappointment 3. charged an extra $10 to upgrade my whiskey to Makers Mark for a drink that was 6 ounces as best. Very disappointed. We did have great service but the food left our table of 4 very bloated. Each of us had something different but still we all were bloated before leaving. There has to be some type of "fillers" or MSG or something. Taste was average at best. Not authentic seasonings. 1 at the table was charged $10 extra for her $14 drink to have her liquor of choice. Upon entering the restaurant, the waitress said give me a few minutes. I'll be right with you and we waited 10 minutes later, finally someone from downstairs came and got us looked at her watch to make sure that we were on time. We get seated there's not enough menus or water glasses or even water. We had to ask three times for more water and ice then almost an hour later we get our appetizers which were OK. Now we have set there for two hours hoping to get our dinner and we finally just said bring us our check which was very upsetting to them. When they come back with the check, they bring what I had ordered which was French onion soup. It was warm to the touch and nobody wants soup that's not hot! The waitress complained that she only started Monday and had no training. We will wait six months to see if they're still in business to try again. read more

Service and food not good. Go to Big Easy Grill instead. Had 2 different appetizers and 3 entrees, cost a week worth of groceries and none of it was even good. Made reservations and decided on low key bistro. 3 giant TVs were beyond distracting in small space. I want to support local restaurants, but i cant when i can make more authentic dishes from a recipe way better and way less expensive. Seafood etouffee was gumbo with seafood (fyi...not etouffee). I was excited to try this place because I really like French food and we don't have anything like it in town. I made my reservation a month in advance and said it was for my birthday. I tried to call and confirm and they don't have anyone that answers the phones. That was a discouraging sign. They also don't have proper signage on their door or above their door so it was hard to find. The food was ok. My dish was not worth the price in my opinion and the service was pretty bad. We waited well over an hour for food and we never got our drinks re-filled. We had to flag the waiter down already near the end of our dining experience to get drinks refilled. It's evident the menu was crafted with great care and thorough research, offering dishes that balance creativity with authentic flavor. I started with the blue crab beignets (which I could happily eat every day for the rest of my life), followed by the Chicken Supreme, and finished with the Bananas Foster Cheesecake. Every bite was prepared to perfection. Even on a very busy night, the service was attentive and the atmosphere was exceptional. If you haven't been to La Roux yet, I highly recommend making a reservation. Next time, I'm going back for a Po'boy--and another one of their delicious hurricanes. read more

First off the food was good, what ruined the experience was the absolutely horrible service. Obviously our waitress didn't want to be there and she wanted us there even less. We were a party of 4 celebrating 2 birthdays which we had told them when making the reservation. We were seated in the basement area and when she finally came to our table she courtly asked if we wanted anything to drink other than water. No introduction of herself no hi how are you. We ordered drinks and appetizers. She delivered the drinks without a word just put them down and turned away. From that moment on we had to flag her down to order, she never came back to ck on us, cleared 2 plates away left the rest. Never spoke just a surly attitude the whole evening. When we ordered our entrees we orded 2 glasses of wine. They never appeared, when we were served the entrees still no wine. I asked her about it and she snapped back, the bat is making them. They were delivered about 3/4 through the meal. When departing the upstairs bar tender asked how was it and we told him about the horrible servic, he didn't care. Wow. Had really been looking forward to eating here. Unfortunately, I didn't really get the chance to because, after a two hour wait, we finally left. Interestingly, after the second time we inquired about our food's arrival, the server (possibly manager) , told us she would have our order up in 10 minutes. My friend jokingly checked his watch and said, "I'm timing ya!" After 13 minutes, she came over and slapped down our check for the two rounds of drinks and an appetizer we'd had. We were not surprised that we would pay for what we consumed, but were left questioning this establishment's customer service. I was absolutely STUNNED that at no point did she try to make it right. Finally, right before we left she took a round of drinks off the bill. My friend gave it to her as a tip. Honestly, Cusco is one of my favorite restaurants and even Van Gogh's is okay, but this was a truly terrible experience. In 2+ hours at La Roux, our water glasses were refilled once. No one came to our table to check on us. Got our single appetizer and no entrees at all. And this was on what appeared to be a fairly slow Wednesday night. Thank goodness Pizza House is right down the street. Oh, I should also point out that we were not the only ones who got up and left without having received entrees.
