Caesar salad killer! Amazing. The small is $7 and both of us enjoyed sharing it. I asked for extra dressing and nothing was left. Lol The menu items are not Missouri based. Ha ha. . So plan on a totally new dinning experience. The happy hour allows you $3 off your choice of premium wines. I was pleasantly surprised knowing my OCD requires a "deal" but then I have to accept some box wine for happy hour, well... not true tonight! read more

La Roux Bistro - Happy Hour. - Cajun/Creole Near Me - Springfield, Missouri

What a gem for Springfield! Everything was so incredibly fresh - you can taste it in every bite. The way they mix ingredients is so imaginative and thoughtful, it's not just Cajun food, it's art on a plate. They have truly brought New Orleans to Springfield while still making it feel like it belongs here. And the space itself... wow. The beautiful art and the historic stone vault makes you feel like you stepped into a new but old place in New Orleans. You forget you're in Missouri for a second - it's romantic, soulful, and timeless. If you haven't been down to C-Street to experience La Roux yet, you are missing out. This is Springfield dining at its most creative and authentic. We'll be back again and again! read more

I love the atmosphere here- the whole restaurant is just beautiful I have been here for lunch and tried 2 soups, salads and muffletta sandwiches Everything is from scratch and perfectly seasoned read more

The first time I came here, we'd just got back from spending a week eating our way all around New Orleans just a few weeks earlier. You'd think we'd be ready for a break from Cajun/French/Creole food, but we were not. Honestly, I wasn't expecting a whole lot, but this place surprised me. The food was just as good as some of the places we tried in New Orleans, and honestly, better than a few of the famous spots that left us wondering what all the hype was about. We've been back here three times since, and while I can't speak for the entire menu, I can tell you what keeps bringing me back. I get the seafood étouffée which is just bomb, and my wife gets the beef po'boy. The alligator is some of the best I've had, and the boudin balls are another favorite. The crab beignets, on the other hand, are just okay. Nothing wrong with them, and I'm not mad I tried them, but they're not something I'd rush back to order. The drinks and service have been on point every visit, and the different dining rooms give the place some character and keep things interesting. Overall, I'm a big fan. Great food, good drinks, solid service, and a menu that lets me get my Cajun and Creole fix without having to book a trip back to New Orleans. At the very least, it keeps me going until I can make it back there. read more

We had a reservation for 8:pm. We got there on time and some of us went to the bathroom first as some of us drove a long way to get here. We were all excited to eat here. There was a couple in our group that met us there from their home. NONE of us were drunk like a Joseph Gidman has come out saying this afternoon. All of our group hadn't even gotten sat down when the waiter informed us that it had come to his attention that we couldn't be served alcohol. What?!? No one from the establishment had even talked to us prior to this. We were not loud. We had hugged relatives that met us there outside before we came in. We thought he was kidding because this was ludicrous. He never asked if we would like tea or sodas or anything else. We asked him if this was a joke and he said, " I can take your water too." So of course we left. Why wouldn't we? One of our group asked to talk to the manager to try to understand why they thought we were drunk. He was told she was eating and couldn't come to talk. No one said anything rude as we left. There was a couple sitting at the table next to ours and asked why we were leaving and could not believe it either. The manager should have come to talk to us instead of sending a waiter out with a chip on his shoulders. We went somewhere else and spent a lot of money and our waiter made a huge tip. I would never recommend this place to anyone. They have absolutely no communication skills. I think there must have been something else going on like they ran out of food or didn't have enough servers because this made no sense at all. read more

great food and ambiance-- you kind of forget you are in Springfield. Great addition to the Commercial street set of restaurants

Visited during happy hour on a Friday afternoon and had a great experience. We love sitting at the bar, so we appreciated the comfortable seating and beautiful stone bar top. The service was attentive and friendly, but the happy hour menu was the real standout. The small plates were perfectly portioned, allowing us to sample several different dishes, and everything we tried was delicious. We'll definitely be back! read more

This place is fascinating because each floor has a different ambiance. The first floor is more casual, second floor down is cooler, and the third floor down in the cellar is dimly lit and very neat. We had great service, and the food was amazing. This was perfect for a date night. We split the budain balls and fried green tomatoes and both were delicious. I got the steak which was cooked perfectly, and my husband's alligator po boy was amazing. We ended it with a decadent cake. Also, the cocktails I had were phenomenal. The best sazerac I've had, and a very solid espresso martini. We will definitely be back! read more

Very disappointing visit Saturday. Guess the wait staff was having an argument, which caused a long delay getting food out. The potatoes were cold when they arrived at the table, and the waiter was rude about it. Won't be going back read more

One of the coolest places to eat. Food was amazing and unique! Best staff and service!

My wife was dying to try La Roux ever since it opened because she's a New Orleans native and this one looked promising. Settled on a corner of the up-and-coming C-street in North Springfield, there is much more to this spot than what meets the eye so "Laissez le Bon Temps Rouler!" The bar and bathrooms along with the first level of seating is what you immediately walk into with a giant painting in the wall paying homage to New Orleans, the bayou, with a local addition of Chappel Roan that was absolutely beautiful. The second floor (down) was more seating with a view of the kitchen where you can watch the chefs work their magic, however, this is not where our journey takes us. We went further down. What sets La Roux further apart from other locals is the basement, or is it a tunnel? Booked by reservation only, you and your party can drink and dine in the historic tunnel and it's as cool as it sounds! Each level has its own team of servers that are attentive and on-the-spot with taking orders and relaying orders with the kitchen and bar. It does seem that the WiFi signal underground does interfere with communications a bit, causing a delay for my wife's cat 2 hurricane drink which was reminiscent of the ones found on famed Bourbon Street. With the drinks we started with the sampler platter. The crab beignets could use some Cajun seasoning to add a little character, however, everything was really good and the sauces were fun to mix and match with the samples. The jambalaya was spot on accompanied by some of the biggest shrimp you'll find in town. The chicken supreme was also very good, if chicken is your thing. That was a panic order on my part because my first and second choices were both out of stock but I figured that was a sign that we would have to be back because, we will in fact be back! Maybe the biggest critique I have is once the drinks really start flowing in the tunnel, especially with larger parties, the volume of conversation is nearly deafening. Being on a date with my wife, this cut into conversation and being to able to hear the servers, but everyone was having a good time so it's hard to count this against. Overall, I highly recommend La Roux if you're looking for those NOLA staycation vibes read more

This place is Springfield's new gem of a place. This is no exaggeration - this place is doing absolutely everything right. Such a great dining experience. Oh, did say that their Cajun items are absolutely incredible.?!! lol. Well, they are! . First off, the building has been renovated in such a top notch/fine look and feel. The downstairs and further downstairs ...are absolutely neat and never knew a Springfield building had such a design. . Now for the food: I don't know what else you'd want for a Cajun option. Absolutely everything is done homemade and zero shortcuts! Everything is so flavorful and better quality ingredients. From the appetizers, to the soups, to the entrees themselves: everything is done so good. . The service: here again, this detail is not overlooked. This place has very very very good personal service. They don't skip on trying to be personal in catering to every need of a customer. . Most impressive restaurant in Springfield. Did I say this place is about the best dining experience in Springfield? Well, it is! read more

We had a fantastic night. For me the winning dish was the shrimp and grits. We also had the cod, and the La Reux salad. Our appetizers were the crab beignets. For birthday dessert we had the bread pudding! All were completely fantastic and the service was top notch. It really reminded me of the upper scale restaurants in the French Quarter. Definitely chef flavors. Original flavors. This is not a "we took some recipes off the internet and decided to open a NOLA restaurant" kind of place. I can say, La Reux would fit right in on Royal Street and deliver original flavors and be wildly successful and fit like a glove there. If you're familiar I'd say it's most like Cafe Ameli in the Quarter. Very happy we went. read more

My group of mostly retired educators who had a reservation were seated at our table last evening at La Roux when we were informed it had come to their attention that we were inebriated and could not be served any alcohol, including the wine bottles lining the wall. At first we thought our waiter was kidding. We hadn't even tried to order any kind of drink yet. When we realized he wasn't kidding we asked why he thought we were inebriated, we weren't slurring, staggering, loud, and were told he didn't know. We told them we were leaving as this was totally unreasonable and as we passed a couple near by they asked why we were leaving and we told them and they couldn't believe it either. I wish I had their names. We were grumbling as we left as we have never been treated this way but NOT yelling. My cousin asked calmly to speak with the manager and was told she was eating and we couldn't speak to her. I wish I had videoed the whole thing. I will not be back nor will anyone I know. read more

My husband just had lunch here. The atmosphere is really special in Springfield! I had the lunch special which was a crab cake melt. It was served with a mushroom sage soup. The melt and soup were so rich and delicious. There was deep savory flavor to the soup. Yet it wasn't thick and creamy base. The melt had almost too much salt. The crab cake was light and fresh. The cheese made it super rich/fatty and went well. My husband had the flat iron with green beans and chips. The chips were thin and you could tell they changed their fry oil, which was nice. The steak came as ordered medium rare and blue cheese on top. The blue cheese was light and creamy. Green beans cooked well. Overall we rated it a 7.5/10. We would try again for dinner or lunch. Desserts looked amazing! read more

Wonderful ambiance! Loved the vibe of each level, very different but cool. We got a glass of wine each which were very quick to come out. Service was good, we weren't checked on a lot but they seemed very busy. Ordered the alligator bites and mushroom and escargot. The alligator bites were good and the sauce was yummy. The mushroom & escargot was very salty but that's what we were expecting. Not many on each plate, so the 4 of us got to have about 1 bite each. I ordered the Icelandic cod, and everyone else got shrimp & grits. The shrimp and grits were highly rated by everyone but they did not get enough to eat. They got about 3 pieces of shrimp, some andouille sausage, and grits. The Icelandic cod had 0 seasoning whatsoever. The breading was yummy, but I had to eat the cod with the mashed potatoes to get any flavor whatsoever. The vegetables were very seasoned along with the mashed potatoes, but it seems like the cod was forgotten. Overall, an expensive meal for not a lot of food and we are still hungry, but the ambience is enough to bring us back. We want nicer restaurants to succeed in Springfield, so I hope this place can withstand the test of time! I recommend larger portion sizes and more attention to detail when it comes to seasoning. read more

* 4 star for look, vibe, ambiance, truly needed to pop on C-Street! Met one of the owners and a gem, lovely man, passionate about the feel and the food, who listened to my critique as I vacation in NOLA for Christmas. Love Réveillon dining and am hoping this place continues to build as a solid foundation. I understand they are working out the kinks of a new restaurant, that so many want to try, but maybe not quite enough staff/help somedays. The food was a mild blend of French/Cajun type of fusion. Party of 4, two college students: Bayou Board: Blue crab beignets, alligator bites, boudin balls, andouille, various sauces. We all agreed the crab beignets the best of the lot, and the little bits of gator should have been in bigger pieces. The Shrimp Po Boy actually one of the best dishes as the Gulf shrimp were cooked to perfection and had a great price. Crawfish Étouffée-trinity cooked down with tomato and brown roux, served with rice, green onion gremolata finish, was a solid 6, could not taste the crawfish, and it desperately needed bread; and unfortunately no bread basket, at all, (this would have been a serious no-no in the south). Hope they remedy that. The Country Gumbo smallish serving of Chicken and Andouille sausage in spicy brown roux, topped with fried okra, file powder, basmati rice, nice flavor, smooth, a 7. Lastly a vegetarian meal with the fried green tomato Po Boy and the Salade La Roux, 10, which filled the plate and was very satisfying for a lighter eater, and presented beautifully. The ending Banana Foster Cheesecake-Homemade Cheesecake with cinnamon, banana filling, topped with Caramel Rum & brown sugar sauce and sliced banana, gluten free. Not on fire, but it was still an interesting spin. The cave below the highlight and will dine there our next special occasion. The second floor a little quieter perhaps than first but also where they cook, so make yourself familiar, see what works best for you and your partner, or in my case, parents of local MSU student couple. ** For some reason pics could not be added but will try to add on phone app afterwards. read more

1. there were 4 of us for dinner and something in the apps or entrees caused all of us to become extremely bloated and gassy. We all started having the issues before we left the restaurant. the Bloating was unbelievable and all 4 of us were miserable for about 24 hours. 2. don't call cold bananas and cold caramel over store bought cheesecake "bananas foster cheesecake". very disappointment 3. charged an extra $10 to upgrade my whiskey to Makers Mark for a drink that was 6 ounces as best. I normally never write reviews but did not live up to the name or the prices. read more

Second trip to this restaurant. First visit was better than the second. Great and creative menu! Service on my second trip (today) started off ok and only got worse. I sat at the bar. I was the only guest there. The bartender was also acting as hostess. She was pleasant. The place was not busy. Which can be a a struggle for staff that are used to being busy and hyper-vigilant when things are moving fast. Having worked in the biz (restaurants) in the distant past I can recognize the signs and risk to customer service. I had the escargot stuffed mushroom caps, a mushroom pasta and requested chicken breast, crème brûlée and cup of coffee. Both the escargot and the main dish had a glaze look as though they had been sitting under a heat lamp- my perception is that they were fired too early.. The bartender made a pot of coffee which I requested with my dessert, once I saw her prepping to make it, I offered to get the French press instead if it was any hassle, she was polite and said no and stated that likely there will be others that may want it too. My crème brûlée came (bartender was not in sight), I was hoping for the cup of coffee to go with it, but decided to start eating it anyway, figuring it would be ready soon. The bartender came back but then went to the back area with another server... 10-15 min later, comes out checks on a table behind me, meanwhile, another server gets a cup of coffee for another patron. The bartender starts back to the bar and sees the coffee getting poured. Pours me a cup and apologizes and comps the coffee. Trust me I get oversights, but it is easier to forgive when you see someone busting their butt... but this was not the case. The lack of awareness... my water glass was empty, empty wine glass and appetizer dish still in front of me. As I write this it may sound petty, first world concerns, but this is not an Olive Garden, the ambiance is metro- contemporary with French influence, very cool spot- def get a reservation for the BEAUTIFUL downstairs!... simply put, great menu and food, but disappointed by the service... tipped a straight 15%, I usually give a standard of 20% and go up to 30% if service is top notch. I truly believe this has to be the exception, but would have to read other reviews to see if my experience is trend worthy. Hopefully the owner sees this review and can tactfully use this to help servers maximize their income and help the reputation of this otherwise great establishment. Three stars for this visit is generous. read more

Just visit this place this evening like a half an hour ago really didn't wanna even leave a review. Was trying to get the manager, but it was hard enough to get the waitress to come back. Didn't check on us the whole time we are eating our dinner walked in the water was terrible. I guess not their fault. The City been working on the water. When I told the waitress about the water, she looked at me and walked away. That was it. Then the guy at the front host station I told him that's when he told me about the City and he said I wish I could do something about it and I mentioned bottled water. Nothing else after that. We got our food ordered a glass of wine and beer, the waitress never showed back up until we finished our mail. She did show up one time when I waved her over because they left the Caesar salad dressing off the salad. And I could almost bet the salad dressing is some kind of jar because it was terrible. So I couldn't drink the water and my glass of wine, I had finished halfway through the meal and of course I couldn't even get a glass cause nobody would show up. Ordered the New York steak it came out pre-cut and the strips are ready for me. Very chewy. I am probably one of the best tippers in town. She got a whole four dollar tip. Do not waste your money at this place. read more

The Food was Good. The Wine service was abysmal. The wine arrived ten minutes after the main course. The server dropped three glasses and the opened bottle and then disappeared. The glasses were far from clean. I took a dirty glass to the server and complained. After a few minutes with absolutely no one coming to the table I took the other glasses and the bottle to the server and told them to take them off the bill. After paying the bill which was $200 plus for three people without the wine we left. On the way out I asked to speak with the manager. I informed her of my dissatisfaction. I explained to her that proper wine serve is not dropping three dirty glasses and and an open bottle at the table. She listened for a short time and informed me that there are a lot of restaurants in Springfield and if was unhappy to go somewhere else. Which I will gladly do. The wine service and the management at La Roux Bistro on Commercial Street in Springfield, MO is much lacking. I would not recomend La Roux to anyone. As the manager said, there are a lot of restaurants in Springfield.....try one of them. read more

We had dinner here last night. The website is misleading. When we arrived we were expecting a vibe that we didnt get. We sat in the "Paris" themed area. We weren't impressed. Nothing looked or felt French... including the music playing. The wine and alcohol selection was so so. We wanted the charcuterie board but they were out of that? So we go the bayou board. The food was good but we needed 5 glasses of water at our table for the saltiness. I ordered the chicken supreme and again it was sooo salty. Our creme brulee was delicious. When we left we went down to see the vault and again it was neat but I feel they could have done better with the old vibe down there. All in all we didnt get what we were expecting at all. We will not be back. We also traveled all the way from Ava for a date night so that was a little upsetting. read more

Great ambiance - not wild about Commercial Street. Food is good, if a bit pricy. Go early for the happy hour.

We loved the atmosphere and the food. Staff was great and relaxed with us. Both of the young wait staff ladies were tops. We will return

Very disappointed. We did have great service but the food left our table of 4 very bloated. Each of us had something different but still we all were bloated before leaving. There has to be some type of "fillers" or MSG or something. Taste was average at best. Not authentic seasonings. 1 at the table was charged $10 extra for her $14 drink to have her liquor of choice. Non of use will return we know 2 others that went last week stated the same thing. Sad because we love the owners other restaurants. read more

The atmosphere is very unique. Our service was slow, drinks were not delivered in a timely manner. The appetizer alligator bites were gristly and hardly edible. I would not recommend the food; however, the building itself was very interesting and the history behind it was fascinating. read more

Upon entering the restaurant, the waitress said give me a few minutes. I'll be right with you and we waited 10 minutes later, finally someone from downstairs came and got us looked at her watch to make sure that we were on time. We get seated there's not enough menus or water glasses or even water. We had to ask three times for more water and ice then almost an hour later we get our appetizers which were OK. Now we have set there for two hours hoping to get our dinner and we finally just said bring us our check which was very upsetting to them. When they come back with the check, they bring what I had ordered which was French onion soup. It was warm to the touch and nobody wants soup that's not hot! The waitress complained that she only started Monday and had no training. We will wait six months to see if they're still in business to try again. read more

Service and food not good. Go to Big Easy Grill instead. Had 2 different appetizers and 3 entrees, cost a week worth of groceries and none of it was even good. Made reservations and decided on low key bistro. 3 giant TVs were beyond distracting in small space. I want to support local restaurants, but i cant when i can make more authentic dishes from a recipe way better and way less expensive. Seafood etouffee was gumbo with seafood (fyi...not etouffee).
