My friend told me about this place for authentic Italian because their chef came from Italy. The place is small and limited seating but feels homie. They have pictures of Nonna, I think it's her. We have reservation for my 18 year anniversary, the waitress was nice and attentive. We have the appetizer tomatoes and burrata. It was different but taste good. Like a self service mini charcuterie. I wana try something different so I pick the beggar purse pasta from the authentic section. My man got the mushroom ravioli and the kids got the meat Lasanga and seafood fruitti de mare. Also came with side bread. My pasta was a little bland but it was different. I added some salt and it was better. The mushroom ravioli was super good tho. The sauce was on point, sweet, sour and flavorful. man was sweet to switch with me. The kids say their pasta was okie. Their flavor was bland. Overall service was good, I really like the ravioli and the other pasta was alright to me. Maybe will come back and try something else next time.

I was pretty excited to try this place because I love good italian home cooking. The reviews were 50/50 so i wasn't sure what to expect. We went in around 830 (they close at 9), and asked if we could get a to go order. they said absolutely! They got out our order in like 10-15 min!! Such great service. If i was rating service alone, it would be 5/5. But honestly the food wasn't super great. The meatballs lacked flavor l, the bread tasted funny, and the salad dressing for the caesar salad was too thick. The croutons they put on the salad are huge so it's a weird bite and confusing to eat. There wasn't one thing that we really enjoyed. i'm sure there are good things on the menu, we just didn't find one! Overall, it was okay

Deep fried Lasagna

The service was prompt, the bruschetta was perfect. The bread was crispy, the tomatoes were firm and the olive oil and garlic were a perfect blend. I had the Ragu Lasagna and my wife had the deep fried lasagna. Both were absolutely delicious. This might be a small quaint establishment but the food was grandiose. You have to spoil yourself and make this your holiday dinner stop.

Nonna's has a cozy and welcoming atmosphere, perfect for a casual dinner. The service was friendly, and the staff seemed attentive, though a bit slow at times. The food was good but not outstanding. I had the seafood pasta, and while the portion was generous, it lacked the bold flavor I was hoping for. The shrimp did not seem seasoned at all and barely cooked. They were inedible. The toasted raviolis seemed frozen. The problem I had was the website made them seem authentic but nothing else checked out with that. The live music was good. The prices are reasonable, but I expected more considering the reviews I had seen before. The bread service was great, but I wouldn't go out of my way to visit again. Worth a try if you're in the area and craving Italian, but manage your expectations.

Popped in here while traveling for work alone about 5 pm on a Tuesday. The space is very homey, service was great, food was spectacular. All around great experience at Nonna's, I will be back!

California foodies this is sooo good! - A close-up of a white plate containing tortellini pasta coated in a creamy, orange-colored sauce. The dish includes green peppers and is garnished with chopped herbs. A fork rests on the plate, and part of a wooden table and a basket are visible in the background.

Tri colored Tortellini. This place has never failed me. It is so good ! We come here to visit family. Me and my husband love this place.

the menu - Menu from Nonna's Italian Cafe in Springfield, Missouri, displaying various sections such as appetizers, soups, salads, pasta, seafood, and desserts. It lists specific dishes like fried ravioli, lasagna, shrimp scampi, and tiramisu, with prices. The menu emphasizes traditional Italian cuisine and includes options for gluten-free pasta and additional toppings. It also provides details about ingredients and preparation styles.

Delightful small local Italian establishment well worth a stop in. We came to springfield to see my mom... and take her out to dinner. She is the local so we trusted her to find the spot. We tried a place before this and there was no parking so she took us down to what I thought was a joke in the wall. I was wrong! It is a quaint best kept secret. Not too secret as it filled up quickly once we were there. It is a smallish venue, dimly lit, nicely laid out, and has the feel of a local secret spot. That kind of place that the locals don't tell people about because they want to be sure to be able to get in. My mom, both sons, and I were able to get seated right away. However shortly after we were seated the place filled up fast. One after another they came until the location was standing room only. Our waiter was very nice, timely, and helpful. He was always just around even as his table load grew. He never forgot about us or made us wait. Exceptional service! My youngest order the kids lasagna which came out drowning in sauce... but to my surprise (usually he would have looked at it and turn his nose at it) after one bite he tore through it like a lion at a lamb smorgasbord! He loved it. It was a pretty good sized slice... loaded with cheesy goodness and savory sauce. He finished it. My oldest wanted to try the toasted ravioli as an appetizer. He is usually not one for trying new things but he does love ravioli. When they came out I saw his trepidation but true to his word he tried them. Toasted to a crunchy but yet chewy perfection these ravioli were divine! The centers were a warm smooth mix of cheese that was a creamy delight! They were definitely worthy of my OHHHH MY GODDIE TO DARN HOTTIE!! Rating for sure. My oldest also had the cheese tortellini with the sauce on the side. Another home run... like pirañas in the amazon that just had a cow wade into the water... my boys eyes lit up and he began to feed. It was truly something to behold. A connoisseur of all things cheese and pasta he raved about his dish between mouthfuls. I went another direction and ordered the sea food risotto. It came out smelling like heaven... light fluffy rice delicately layered in savory lobster Parmesan sauce with an intermingling population of shrimp, scallops and clams. What a special medley! Every bite was transcending! A meal composed by a true culinary artist. Needless to say our out was a true food experience worthy of a 10 star rating! I highly recommend putting this venue on the top of your list of places to go... you will not regret it!

Gnocchi alla sorrentina

I called ahead and made a reservation for two for a late dinner on a Saturday. The restaurant is centrally located, right in the heart of downtown Springfield. We sat down and ordered a bread basket, but the slim amount of sliced baguette was a little disappointing. We proceeded to order half a liter of their house red wine to pair with our meal. It was delicious and the perfect amount to share between two people. We started by ordering the tomatoes and burrata to share. This dish came with a decently sized burrata, cherry tomatoes, and crostini, served on top of basil pesto and topped with a balsamic vinegar reduction, olive oil, and basil. My husband ordered the pappardelle alla bolognese for his main course and said it was delicious. I ordered gnocchi alla sorrentina, which was very good once mixed together, though the lemon flavor was intense and overpowering. Overall, it was a good experience. The portions for the burrata appetizer and the two pasta dishes were large, there was live classical guitar music in the background, and the place looked like a real Italian osteria.

I was poisoned by your seafood pasta. We were one of the last people served that day - we arrived late at night. Apparently the seafood was spoiled. Terrible impressions. I am so offended that such a cafe is on the 3rd place in yelp on "pasta" request....

Fresh lemonade - Three glasses of lemonade with ice cubes and black straws are arranged on a dark wooden table at Nonna's Italian Cafe. The glasses are clear and filled with a pale yellow beverage. A menu from the restaurant is partially visible, showing sections for appetizers, soup, and salad. The setting suggests a casual dining environment with a focus on Italian cuisine.

The meatballs: These are an excellent meatball and an excellent sauce. These aren't some rolled meat with salt and pepper. These meatballs have an excellent herb accented flavor and taste wonderful. Alfredo Carbonara: Again, a fantastic dish. Very rich flavor with a good dose of prosciutto accent. Tomato Bisque: This isn't some Sysco product they're putting out - this stuff is a real deal, made from scratch bisque. A very balanced flavor with a good depth of texture....not some watery kind of soup. Cannolis: desert will (not) disappoint. The cannoli cream is a nice flavor...with a slight orange zest touch. I've always loved this place. The food may not always come out super fast. But so what, so long as the food comes out right....and I'll sure say....the food comes out great!

Service was attentive, we started with a bottle of wine & bruschetta, the wine was good, the bruschetta was soggy and falling apart when picked up. As we were waiting for our entrees we noticed the delays from the kitchen, server bringing pasta to a couple on their anniversary for him and saying the pizza was just on its way out of the oven, it never arrived, the gentleman finished his pasta and still no pizza, she cancelled the order and they left. The table behind us also had no meals, the server said the chef forgot to make them, they finished their drinks and left. The table next to us, 1 of 3 meals served and finished and then 2 lasagnes arrived, both of which were still cold in the middle. They were all annoyed and just took them to go. Finally our meals arrived, I believe we were waiting on the bolognese as it seemed hot and fresh, mine however was not the hottest and has a film on it as it had been sitting a while. I believe the bolognese was not worth almost $40 but the other one was well priced and delicious. Ended with a tiramisu which was dry which was disappointing. So a disordered evening with angry diners did not make for a fun night out.

Thankfully, it's not that. Not even close. The interior leans cute and slightly rustic, with a New-York-Italian soundtrack of Sinatra and Dean Martin covers setting the tone. The buffet itself is smaller than you might imagine, but it gets the job done: grab your drink, grab a plate, and dive in. You'll find the usual starters lined up -- soup, salad, breadsticks, fried ravioli, chips with spinach-artichoke dip -- then move on to the fun part: à-la-carte pastas and sauces. They've got everything from classic white sauce and marinara to vodka sauce and meatballs. There's even fried chicken pieces so you can build your own take on chicken parm. Vegan and veggie-friendly options are surprisingly solid: roasted Brussels sprouts, glazed carrots, and a legitimately tasty butternut squash casserole. The sausage risotto was another pleasant standout. Desserts aren't homemade (and they aren't pretending to be -- they're still in the cardboard trays), but they do offer hand-scooped ice cream from the staff, which is a nice touch. Service-wise, the greeter was great. The rest? Fine. Our server didn't look thrilled to be there, but honestly...it's a weekday lunch buffet. Expectations adjusted accordingly. Overall, The Hill delivers a charming vibe, some solid buffet options, and a few dishes that are genuinely worth going back for. If you're craving casual, customizable Italian comfort food, it's worth a stop.
