I only give them a 2 because the waitress tried to repair what the kitchen sent out. I looked at the reviews but thought I would try them anyways because I've had good experience at another Houlihan's, well I was horribly mistaken. I ordered from their fall menu and it was a pasta dish with butternut squash in it. It came out hot and well presented but as you dug in the overwhelming salt taste just coated my tongue. 5-6 bites in and I couldn't eat anymore. The salt was too overwhelming. The waitress tried to find out if they "added" salt but the cook staff said they didn't. I then decided on a salad since I still couldn't get the taste of salt out of my mouth. One sweet tea down and still can taste the salt. Actually as I'm writing this I can still taste the salt. It was that overwhelming. The salad comes out and I dig in, I'm starving it's been a long tedious day. I start seeing brown wilted lettuce and not just one piece but several. At this point I've had it. The waitress comes by and I show her the salad she takes it back and her manager comes over. Now this is where it gets good. Her excuse "we handle a lot of salad in one day". I told her I would have understood a piece or two but not the quarter of the salad I just dug into all being brown and wilted. I think you and your staff should be able to see if the salad is going bad and not serve it to your customers. I also told her the pasta dish was overwhelmingly salty. She had a horrible attitude. I prefer to write good reviews but this one I just couldn't let it pass. Beware of eating here unless they get a new manager and cooks. read more

after a seven hour drive that felt like at least 13 hours, i went against my standing rule never to eat at a hotel site restaurant. part of me feels like i should continue this rule... our server was very nice, i think her name was gracen (?), i ordered a pinot noir, since i'm fancy and heart healthy that way. my lovely date had a corona. we ordered crunchy spicy cauliflower as an appetizer, in a nod to healthy eating. this was a mistake. my yummy date ordered fish and chips, with french fries and coleslaw. more on the coleslaw fiasco of 2025 later. i ordered the center cut filet mignon, which comes with two sides. i chose mashed potatoes (another mistake) and garlic green beans. gracen was still cool. as we talked about everything and nothing while sipping our drinks, we watched others around us get their food. we started wondering about the crunchy spicy cauliflower appetizer. were they growing the vegetable? where was it? gracen brought our entrees. as you can see from the accompanying picture, my mashed potatoes were served as balls. that's cool, i don't mind eating a potato ball. i do, however, mind eating a cold potato ball. steak was actually good. garlic green beans had absolutely no kick to them, so i doused them in pepper, with eternal hopes of finding taste somewhere. i must address the issue of the coleslaw - look at the picture - it was slaw mixed with LETTUCE, and served on a warm entree plate. my lovely dinner partner asked me to taste it. against my better instincts, but fortified by this time with another drink (a lovely gin filled lemonade), i ate a bite. look, some people might not mind eating warm salad mixed with coleslaw parts, but it just isn't right. here's where it gets interesting. the manager brought us the CRUNCHY spicy cauliflower, which was supposed to be an appetizer, and apologized, took it off the bill. that was cool, very nice of her. however, that appetizer was awful. it was soggy and lukewarm, with the kick of a sickly kitten. gracen did tell us (when she came back, i think she felt bad about it, but truly, we weren't upset) the cook was new. i guess that explains the cold potatoes, weird warm slaw/lettuce salad and the drenched in sadness cauliflower. all that said, we returned here the next night, simply because my butt was too lazy to fight for a spot at the iffy restaurants that surround the hotel. the second night, we ate at the bar. i have absolutely no recollection of what i ate, but i do remember dropping my fork twice, while the lovely bartender pretended he did not see it happening and simply provided me with another fork. here is a word of warning: do not drink french 75's on an empty stomach after you have been walking around in the heat for hours. and certainly don't drink TWO french 75's, followed by wine. even though the all the food wasn't fantastic, the service was great and everyone was very friendly (both nights). i probably won't go back though, since 1. i live numerous hours away, and 2. the fork thing. i still have faint residuals of laughter in my memories from nearby patrons, but am trying to tell myself that was just me, laughing at my own french 75 soaked self. we will never know. p.s. - the first night was $88.08 and i left a $20 tip, since i wanted to make sure gracen didn't feel bad about the almost absent cauliflower appetizer, scary lettuce slaw, and bizarre potato balls. i lost the receipt for the second night, but am fairly certain i should have been charged for two missing forks. read more

In one long weekend, I dined three times in this restaurant. Connected to the hotel, their service staff is kind and friendly. I had a large salad for lunch, a club sandwich for dinner with Parmesan potatoes served with a wonderful aïoli and then a few days later for a late night snack shared wings. The restaurant is in great repair and very clean. Next time I'm in the area. I will likely choose this location because of the restaurant. read more

I had a spicy hot chicken salad with chunks of bleu cheese, pecans, croutons, red onions, cherry tomatoes and a delicious vinaigrette. The greens were so crisp and fresh. My first bite was heavenly and I could not stop until my husband asked for pieces of the chicken, which was crispy on the outside and moist and flavorful inside. Yummy. The service was great! Very friendly staff and accommodating. Very nice dining room. The seating was very comfortable and plenty of televisions to look at all the games. The ladies room is decorated with tiles from the floor to the ceiling,I had to stop and say wow! Nice place and I am glad we stopped in, what a treat! read more

First off, I typically never eat at hotel restaurants. Having said that, Hoolihans has great food from a scratch kitchen. Meals taste and look good, many non bar food options (stuff you don't get at many restaurants). Their beer selection leaves a bit to desire, but it's adequate. This was my second visit here and I had a much better experience than the first time. The first time we came for happy hour because of the great deals. The food was less than good. I didn't write a review but would have been about 2 stars based on cheap quality. However this must be a "depends on what you order restaurant" because I came back for dinner and ordered the steak and wedge salad (no beets), and it was delicious! Ate every bite. However the restaurant was not busy and service was very, very slow. But I would come back again and order this same entree. The ambience is upscale and clean. I was looking for casual fare close to my hotel and this restaurant exceeded my expectations. As you walk in it has a nice vibe and there is a bar to the right with plenty of seats and have local and national drafts. I ate here 2 nights. My first night was good but the 2nd night was exceptional. I had the Kansas City steak the first night and it was good. I have a garlic allergy and they made sure to not have that on my steak. The 2nd night Kristy was my bartender and when I told her that I had a garlic allergy she said that she has a regular customer with a garlic allergy and offered the poppyseed dressing for my salad. Typically I can only have oil and vinegar so this was a nice change. The dressing was delicious. I had the salmon and broccoli and mashed potatoes and it was very good. We got to the restaurant at 4:40 which meant their hostess wasn't there yet. So we stood at the front of the restaurant waiting for someone to seat us because the sign said "Wait to be seated". After 5 minutes, I just grabbed menus and we seated ourselves. The bartender saw us waiting and did not say a word to us. This was an alternate dinner choice for our family after two soccer games. We chose this spot because it was in our hotel and we just didn't have the energy to drive anywhere else. Some of our team mates were staying in the same hotel so we all sat together. My family ordered appetizers, mainly because it looked like the safest option for gluten free needs. We had the chips, salsa and guacamole. For the price we paid the sizes were pretty small. We needed a lot more chips for the guacamole. The salsa was just in a small stainless steel cup.... Maybe 2-3 oz and not many chips. The food was ok. The meal portions looked large and our friends said they tasted good. There was also a full bar and lots of seating. I would suggest increasing your portion sizes, this really was not worth what we paid. I would also suggest switching to a provider that has ALL local channels. It was truly a disappointment we could not watch the final four game because of no CBS!! This is a huge deal, especially when you have a bar. Thank you Jason for your reply. They're mellow and full of flavor; tender on the inside, stuffed with cream cheese and covered with crispy breading, Parmesan cheese and parsley. The fried Cauliflower is scrumptious as well. I had the most wonderful experience today here....my daughter and I live in Nixa, and now that the South location has closed, I was reticent to go...(I deal with chronic pain and can hardly walk).Let's just say it was a labor of love... Not only was the food delicious, but to say that our server, Ashley enhanced our experience would be the understatement of the century! She was AMAZING!! Personable,relatable, ....really EXCEPTIONAL. Then, when I needed the restroom and had difficulty walking, a lovely woman Avery helped me....and then came to check on me...and helped me out to the car! Greeted right away for my lunch visit. Told to seat myself which I did, waited a few minutes for server to acknowledge me and offer me a menu. She came back and took drink order and then took my order. Ordered a chicken sandwich with fries and baked potato soup. She didn't ask if I wanted the grilled or fried chicken, wanted grilled, am waiting to see what she entered. Incorrect soup arrived, was presented with Mexican tortilla soup which I pushed aside, she returned with my soup after the other diner after putting her spoon in it realized the mistake. Instead of getting new soups she just left each of us the original. She mentioned the soup was made about 45 minutes ago and might not be hot, if she knew that why did it even come out? Soup was lukewarm and watery, potatoes were also on crunchy side. I noticed manager walking around, might have been nice if she was table touching, checking if the guests were satisfied. I'm assuming she neglected to put my sandwich order in cause the wait was very long. Temperature and cleanliness was nice, music was at a good level. Still waiting on sandwich, that's what prompted me to write review. Also answered several work emails while waiting. Eventually arrived fries were good, burger not so good. Chicken was grilled, way overcooked and resulted in rubbery chicken I didn't eat, ate the cheese, bacon, lettuce and tomato. Server didn't come to check on me or meal. So, I used to work at a Houlihan's, and at that time, I considered it an excellent restaurant on most occasions that I went there simply to eat. Maybe my expectations are too high, but this was a very mediocre experience. My boyfriend and I stopped in for lunch and the restaurant was fairly dead, so there was no obvious reason why our service and food would have any issues, as far as I could tell. The restaurant itself seemed fairly clean and it had an ambiance that is very typical of a Houlihan's, which I do enjoy. It feels a bit more upscale than your Applebee's or Chili's with design elements that go further than a bunch of pop culture pics on the wall or a giant chili posted throughout. And it is true in many cases, if you want to see how far a restaurant goes to keep their kitchens clean, check out the bathroom. I did use the restroom and I am sorry to say that TP dispenser in the stall that I used was broken and I could see into the next stall- just a note - it was not enough that I was going to be able to see anything inappropriate, but it is definitely something that they should focus on if they want that more upscale ambiance to be felt throughout a patron's entire experience. And anytime TP is not secured in a TP dispenser, you know it gets dropped on the very nasty public restroom floor. Service was ok, nothing special but I would recommend that more training be provided to the staff to help them read situations better and to help their guests make the right decisions about meal choices. I am a vegetarian and I ordered a burger with the plant-based patty. I also ordered their side salad. The menu was limited with descriptions, so I forgot that the side salad comes with bacon!! My review would be bumped up had the server alerted me to this fact and given me a chance to order my salad without meat. Granted, ordering a plant-based burger does not necessarily mean I'm a vegetarian but it wouldn't be rude to make sure I was fully aware of the meat that would come on my salad. It took longer than we had hoped to get our food, but it did finally arrive. My boyfriend ordered the Chicken Asian Chop Chop salad and it was good but for some reason the presentation of it suggested that it wasn't the freshest. It just looked a little flat from the cabbage being a bit dehydrated. It tasted fine, but it can be such a pretty salad that I don't think it tasted as good as it could have since the full sensory experience was not realized. We do eat with our eyes too!! Based on this experience and having worked in a better Houlihan's, I will not return here. But if you don't have the same expectations, you might check it out on the chance that they will perform better during your own dining experience. read more

I wish I had taken a photo, the Sedona Shrimp pasta was amazing! Just the perfect spice, and the shrimp tasted very fresh. Caesar salad was great too. My husband got the Steak and wedge salad and it was beautiful. Trying that next time. Had the fish tacos the night before but was not as impressed with those or the salsa for the chips.
