First trip to Lindbergs and wasn't disappointed. Friendly and attentive staff was an A+. As for the eats, The Dubliner burger was excellent. The smash burger and corned beef on it didn't get lost in the toppings and it had the perfect bun-to-beef ratio IMO. It was so good I wanted seconds! House made ketchup with the fries was tasty as well. The flavoring was like that of a sweet ketchup and pizza sauce mashup. Queen City Dip was yum as well. The bread pudding was served piping hot and moist. Indulgent yet not overly sweet. All items were washed down with cold IPAs. When I'm in the area again I will definitely visit again. read more

The food never disappoints. But I've been several times and the staff is ALWAYS rude. I went recently and one of the bartenders slammed things around, cursed under her breath and bitched about being busy. When I asked for a refill she shoved it in my hands and refused to acknowledge that I said thank you. The other bartender asked if we wanted our app before or with our food, and I answered him. I guess he didn't hear me because he asked me again in a pissy tone. Only one of the three was decent. I won't go back, but not that it matters since being a dick is apparently the aesthetic of their staff. read more

Lindbergs is a great classic spot in Springfield. Apparently it is the oldest bar in Springfield, so at least it has that legacy going for it. I've always consistently had the Lindberg burger (the one cooked in duck fat, with house-made mayo and house-made Ketchup)...delicious! However, on this go around, I decided to try something different and I'm glad I did. We had a big group, and the waiters and waitresses were very accommodating. Some in our group ordered drinks and the staff was prompt with refills. A couple ordered appetizers. I didn't try any apps, but everyone else said they were great. I decided to go with the beer battered shrimp tacos. (I've been on the lookout for the best Cali fish tacos in Springfield, so this had got to be close). The tacos were flour tortillas, cabbage and a special sauce. Sounds Cali style to me! The tacos were AMAZING. I'm actually tempted to come back and see if they have any fried fish I could swap out the shrimp with. They also had the same yummy sauce and cheese drizzled over the fries that were on the tacos. Superb. Others in the group ordered salad, burgers, and the lobster grilled cheese. I tried a bite of the lobster grilled cheese, and oh my. So good! They even put melted cheese on the outside of the bread. This place has some serious eats. It's in a cool part of town (Historic C-Street). Has a neat atmosphere, with outside seating, live music (at times). They even do lunch. I totally recommend Lindbergs for an authentic experience. read more

Not much was open late in town, and I did not want to rush. This neighborhood feel like it is in a revival stage, with lots of young entrepreneurs opening businesses. This place has a great vibe, a long, beautiful bar and lots of art. I got a seat at one of the high tops. Had a glass of wine and ordered fish tacos. I know I was hungry after a day of traveling, but DAMN were those tacos terrific!! The chef/owner stopped by to see if I was happy with my food - with my mouth full, I said "So good!!" He thought I said "No good" and looked devastated...I quickly clarified and he was very pleased. Service was lovely and it was very reasonably priced. Thanks for feeding me well!! read more

My friends and I got to Lindberg's Tavern a little before noon on Sunday--15 minutes before they opened for brunch. There was already a line of maybe 20 other people, which was a good sign of the place being extra legit. We took a spot outside because it was gorgeous out. We were one of the only tables out there, though, so we weren't getting too much attention and the only "issue" was that we ran out of water like right away. Otherwise, we had plenty of entertainment with our group and tasty food to keep us occupied, so it was fine for us. I got the vegan Mushroom Po Boy with fries. It was one of my favorite sandwiches I had while visiting Springfield. It was a nice savory lunch item and not too heavy. The fried mushrooms were fantastic albeit slightly greasy, but the bread the sandwich was on--AMAZING! My friend who got the Ham & Jam (also pictured) devoured it's perfectly balanced sweet and savory deliciousness pretty quickly. Another friend got and enjoyed the curry that was on special and also had good things to say--so basically you can't go wrong. By the time we left, the place still wasn't full, per se, but there were a lot of people and not a lot of wait or kitchen staff, so the earlier you get in, the earlier you can order and get your food. read more

All I can say is incredible food! But my favorite thing on the menu is their bread pudding!!!!! OMG if I had a dollar for every time I have ordered this bread pudding to go....let's just stop right there it is so amazing. I will personally refund your money if you don't like it. just go there eat anything on the menu and save room for some bread pudding, end of story! And enjoy some great music while you're there! The place is very dark inside so a bit hard to see menu. Definitely an "old school bar" atmosphere. The service was great especially considering the one bartender was tending bar, handling food service, clearing tables and he did it all very efficiently. Very pleased with the food! I had a side green salad, fresh crispy lettuce, cucumbers, tomatoes and one of the best house made ranch dressing full of fresh herbs and great flavor! My husband enjoyed the BLT with crispy bacon, fresh vegies and fresh bread, with fries. I had the prime rib dip which was delicious... the cheese and meat were carmelized and crispy at edges of sandwich and tender inside with very fresh bread... parmesan fries could have been a bit crispier but still tasty. My dirty Tito's martini was great but my husband's Modelo should have been much colder. We were just passing through town but would definitely go back. read more

Excellent service and food at a recent lunch as we passed through town. Sat at the bar and was well taken care of. My wife had the Lobster Grilled Cheese Sandwich, which she loved and is still talking about. I had the Prime Rib Salad. It was just as I hoped it would be. Mostly rare to medium rare shaved cold prime rib, with very nice mixed greens and a blue cheese dressing that was smooth and not overpowering. There wasn't too much prime rib, which I was happy about. I read some reviews saying it was too dark inside. At lunch that was not our experience. Maybe they went at dinner. The back half is darker, with a stage for live music. There was sound equipment that made me think they are serious about music. I think I may be influenced by the shock I experienced over this old Northside bar's evolution into an "eclectic dive" bar & restaurant. Lindberg's Tavern is now bona fide as one of Springfield's few remaining classic gems. We visited for lunch , greeted by a reserved yet genuinely friendly staff. Our waitress was attentive without being bothersome, taking care of every need without hovering or interrupting. The service was absolutely seamless and perfect. We were delighted by their unique menu & specials. I had a hankering for their Lobster Cheese Sandwich at market prices but was swayed by the Turkey Club. My wife was smitten by the Fried Shrimp Tacos. We also ordered libations, hers the margarita & mine the "Lemonade", a refreshing blend of light lemonade with the perfect amount of cucumber vodka. Both were light and refreshing...a great compliment to our meals. Their French fries are some of the best I've ever eaten, bar none: light, crusty & delicious. My wife's had a unique sauce on hers...again, delicious (as I snagged a few). While the bar is dark, they do have an adjoining patio for outdoor, yet street-side dining and imbibing. They do have a stage for live entertainment which is pronounced but not obtrusive. We may float up some weekend for the right low-key performer or music.
