Come here with friends/family so you can try everything! It's a bit pricey with the portions you get, but it's a nice treat to try cuisines that aren't easily found in SF. I came here with a small group of friends and we ordered: Ceviche mixto (a mix of various seafoods), beef lengua, grilled octopus, sauteed mushrooms, truffle mac, and I think a whole chicken with salad and sweet potato fries for sides. This might sound weird, but the chicken was actually my least least favorite. I thought it was dry and lacked flavor. I ended up drowning it in the sauce from the sauteed mushrooms and mashed potatoes. The truffle mac wasn't anything special either-- it pretty much just tasted like a normal mac'n'cheese and I couldn't taste any of the truffle. Our favorites of the night were the ceviche, grilled octopus, and sauteed mushrooms. The mushroom sauce was really good-- it had a savory umami flavor which we all really enjoyed. The grilled octopus was tender and had a bit of a crunch (no rubberiness at all!). The ceviche was really unique and the mix of flavors was incredible. I'd highly recommend trying the ceviche! I found the beef dry and the rice too wet. The pisco sours were cute. One had an angry face and the other smiley. Maybe indicative of the people who ordered them? (I'm guessing I'm the smiley one. Hahahaha!) The atmosphere here is very loud and boisterous. The lighting was dim. The background music was bumpin'. It's a little crowded at the tables, but it's still a fun vibe. Nice, heated, outside dining area. Food was good and service was adequate. I asked for hot sauce and was given a small cup with about 1 tablespoon of chili sauce. I was surprised when I reviewed my receipt later at home and noticed I was charged $2.25 for the chili sauce! I've never been charged for a condiment before at a restaurant. Luckily I didn't ask for ketchup or salt... I was also surprised when I noticed I was charged 4% extra for a "Mandate" fee (which wasn't disclosed on the menu). Came for a late dinner and we were surprised that they were open until 11pm. Not something I expected in the Burlingame area. The menu was confusing at first because a lot of the names were in Spanish, but our server answered any questions that we had. I ended up ordering a half chicken with veggies and yuca fries and the ceviche mixto. The good thing was that portions were big and the chicken wasn't dry, but the bad thing was that everything (except the ceviche) was really bland. The chicken didn't have as much flavor as advertised in the menu, and if it didn't come with the dipping sauce, it would've been a struggle to eat. The veggies also didn't seem like they were seasoned very well, and the yuca fries didn't really taste like anything either. The highlight of our meal was the ceviche. It came with fish, shrimp, and calamari and it tasted pretty fresh. Our server came by to ask if we wanted chips with the ceviche, and we said yes. He came back with taro chips which paired wonderfully with the ceviche. BUT, our happiness only lasted until we saw the bill. Little did we know, they charge an EXTRA $4 for taro chips and extra $3 if you ask for hot sauce. To the servers: If you're going to offer a table chips, at least LET THEM KNOW that it costs extra. Firstly, one of our party asked all of us if we wanted to share a pitcher of Margarita and we all said yes. The waiter brought a pitcher of Sangria instead and when corrected, insisted that he heard us order Sangria. I looked forward to the braised short ribs but was disappointed. The short ribs were braised but were probaly braised a day or two earlier and because they were refrigerated became hard. At best the short ribs were only at room temperature. Food was really good. I mean REALLY good. However, the place is so noisy I could barely hear my wife and she was sitting across the table from me. Also, our waiter misled us on portion sizes. We would have done just fine with sharing an appetizer and each having a main course. Lesson learned. They were accommodating and let us substitute beef empanadas for veggie option which has a mushroom, spinach, corn and cheese filling. The platter also had pollo de chicarron and truffle Mac and cheese. All the components were fresh and tasted good. We also got yuca fries and a potato dish. They were the perfect accompaniment to the drinks. The orders came pretty quick and the server was engaging and knowledgeable. Overall had a great experience. It made me think: why do they do to make these fries to make them cost a dollar each? Do they play classical music to the yucca plants to help them relax? Do they water them with only the finest barrel-aged organic beers? Maybe a special daily massage or spa treatment? In any case, I ate my Kobe, er yucca fries, 50 cents at a time. They weren't bad. Went to Burlingame Ave to pick up stollen from Copenhagen Bakery for the holidays. Decided to get lunch while in the area and eventually decided to try Limon. We sat in the outdoor dining area which was a wooden structure over street parking. There were heaters. The overall ambience is quite nice and modern. The service was friendly and had good timing. Generally the details were good: water served in glassware and a glass bottle for refills. Nice quality cloth napkin and silverware. The menu had a broad selection of Peruvian delicacies but it was challenging to pick something for a light lunch yet sample things since this was our first visit. We passed on the empanadas, lomo saltado and more...and chose the Pollo a la Brasa (rotisserie chicken) Half Chicken portion because there is an emblem inside the restaurant with the words Limon Rotisserie with a picture of a chicken...so we assumed this was their specialty. We chose Yuca fries and sweet potato fries as the sides. Accompanied by a small cup of Aji Amarillo sauce. The presentation was quite good and clean...except the plastic sauce container which was out of place. The plate came with two pieces of chicken...one was the thigh with drumstick and the other was the breast with wing. The latter was good looking with roasted skin whereas the other had quite a bit of the skin missing. Oops. Must pay attention. The chicken meat was moist and tender-excellent. The meat had an herbal fragrance whereas the roast flavor notes were very mild-could have been more boldly seasoned. The Aji Amarillo sauce was mild too with some sweetness but little spice or heat. The sweet potato fries were good with crispness and flavor. The outstanding item on the plate was the yuca fries. Delicious and perfect balance of crunchy crust and tender core. Overall, a recommendable experience. Not quite 5-star because I would like to encourage Limon to get the rotisserie chicken up to a knock-the-socks off level since their emblem promises that as their specialty. read more

It was my first time having Peruvian cuisine and it was a wonderfully exquisite dining experience at the new Mountain View location on Castro St. Being my first time, the waitress/server Nora, was extremely knowledgeable explaining the menu in depth while making us feel right at home!. Every entree described by Nora added to the anticipation, so we decided on many different appetizers and entrees to sample a little bit of the Peruvian culture and everything was perfectly prepared to our liking down to the dessert!
