This place is now a restaurant. The owners had to pivot from bar to restaurant due to COVID-19. Don't be fooled by the bar-like ambiance--the food is REALLY good. Like good enough to be sold for twice the price at a fancy restaurant. I discovered it for lunch yesterday, and came back again for lunch again today. I will be coming back often. Both indoor and outdoor seating provided. I'd highly recommend the ceviche mix. While there is no ocean view, the property is on the water and you can take a nice stroll after your meal. read more

I went here Saturday night with my co-workers. Been awhile since I went dancing and my glutes aren't as strong as they used to be. LOL. Dancing gets harder with age. Yikes! lol This is a bar where they play salsa music for people to dance to. Not my scene at all, but people were super friendly. And guess what? Most people actually dance here, very few wallflowers. Super friendly bartenders. Nice door lady. Reasonable security. I spent last Halloween night at this club and it was nothing out of the ordinary. I understand that Halloween is not the best day to stay at a club in Burlingame but since so many people were talking about this event I thought it would be different. There were no more than 40 people and all of them seemed to know each others, which made the night even more boring. Drinks are too expensive for a place like this, over $10 for a rum and coke is more than what I am willing to pay here. I left after an hour to head to the Castro in San Francisco, which I should have done instead wasting my night at at such a lousy place. read more

Caribbean gardens was the bomb on Sundays 15/20 years ago and maybe still is I haven't been there on Sundays but I was there on Friday the 15 because fuego latino band was there and as always they killed it... The Dj was a different story tho he played the same songs over and over I actually think it was a mix (reggaeton) no bachata was played at all. read more

I went to a private party here and was amazed at how nothing has changed since the last time I was here--maybe 15 years ago. The bathrooms are outdated, gross and dark, the tables and chairs are old, this entire place could use a remodel. The signage outside is completely torn to shreds. How would anybody know this is Caribbean Gardens? The owner really needs to invest some money into this place. What a dump. What I like about this place is that people actually come here to dance not to get hit on. Yes it is a bit crowded and once the DJ played the music so loud that it made my ears ring but I still come here every once in a while for the music and the fact that its one of the few places that have salsa nights. I should also mention that before 9pm on Sundays they have dance lessons. The classes are not packed most of the time which is good especially for those who are wanting to learn but fear looking foolish in front of a large "experienced" group. I'm super picky about my Peruvian food and oh my tastes like I went to my Tias place for a quick bite of happiness. They have Pisco Sours Too!!! The outside will throw you off and the inside is club/bar basic. BUT IT'S ALL ABOUT THE FOOD!!! This rating is about the food and not the extra stuff. They play some really great music! Enjoyed the variety with all my friends. People go to dance, so everyone there is actively up dancing. This makes people who don't dance on the regular comfortable. There were a lot of couples; myself and few friends were visiting from LA so we are accustom to dancing salsa/ bachata. With that said not your usual "ask people to dance" club, but like I said still had a blast. There are tables and chairs. Only thing, they didn't really play bachata. The club is small but I did enjoy myself. THE PROBLEM THAT I ENCOUNTERED WAS THAT ONE OF THE SECURITY GUARDS WOULD GO AROUND THE TABLES AND WOULD PICK UP DRINKS THAT WERE STILL HALF FULL. THIS HAPPEN TWICE AT OUR TABLE. THE BAR TENDER (POSSIBLY THE OWNER) WAS NOT PLEASANT TO DEAL WITH. This venue used to be ggggggreat 1/2 decades ago. Having said this I went 1/19/ 20 thinking that because 1/20/20 a holiday the place was going to be packed as it used to in years ago. A total disappointment. The place was empty literally about 3 couples on the floor and more than half a dozen of men lingering by the bar . This place has good music, and that's about the only good thing about this place. They play the music too loud, my ears were ringing after ten minutes and I had to stuff napkins in my ears to stand it. The place was packed, to the point where the fire marshall would of closed the place down. The trek to and from the bar was like an adventure because it took so long. The worst thing was that I waited a good 30 to 40 minutes for get three drinks. They tried to make it up by giving me a free shot of patron, but still, where people are waiting on you for there drinks, that doesn't make it up. There are not many dance clubs in the Bay Area dedicated to Salsa, Bachata, and Merengue social dancing. I came here for a Bachata festival. This place is in need of an upgrade but I see how that might be difficult give the building it is housed in. They also need a larger sign. I'll keep going back. read more

So we went Friday night and the music was great! They had a live band with a great sound that made you want to dance. Too bad there was no one to dance with. After you pay the $10 dollar cover charge you walk into a place with scant people; the number of women out numbered the men and the few men that weren't spoken for prefered to do the "creepy stare" from the dark corners. I probably won't come back to this place without a salsa dance partner. But just for the benefit of doubt maybe Saturday is better and maybe the Latin America festival in San Francisco on Sunday attributed to the small crowd. This place was a big disappointment. I had gone there with some friends after watching the football game on Sunday. We get there walked in and had to wait for a bartender, finally got our drink order and just has he put them down a guy walks up and ask if we were going to pay the cover charge!!! Are you serious?? The was no one at the door when we walked in and actually no one in the place but a couple and their baby!! Needless to say I said no and before i knew it the bartender took all of our drinks off the counter and threw them away!! Ok the hey day of this place was 15 years ago when it was restaurant and club operated by a Guyanese family. The past several years it has been mainly a salsa club but the previous operators are back on Saturday nights. If you are in the mood for some serious reggae and soca then you need to be here on a Saturday night. I was there a few weeks ago and heard old school reggae and some songs that I have heard only in my travels in the West Indies or in New York. If. That night they also so had some live musicians and carnival band. The music was good and I danced all night long until they closed. There are very few places where you can hear true West Indian music. Most places focus on reggae or dancehall. If you want a nice mix of West Indian music including soca (which most folks out here don't know of) then Caribbean Gardens on Saturday is your place.
