As a person of Guatemalan heritage, it's nice to have another restaurant on the peninsula serving the food I grew up with! They seem to be more accustomed to takeout than dine-in and the menu is a bit limited. I didn't like the agua Fresca (didn't taste fresh) but the horchata was AMAZING! The masa on the Tamal was a little too soft but the flavor was nice! Highlights were the pepian, the chuchitos, and the dobladas. Also they had this very spicy curtido (cabbage side) that was AMAZING! I wish they had chille rellenos too. Overall it was really good! Just a couple of things could be better but I will definitely come back when I'm craving Guatemalan food.

Came for breakfast recently and enjoyed my plate of scrambled eggs with ham. Served with fresh cheese, creamy black beans, rice, plantains, and tortillas. A great start to the day! If you're craving coffee they only have instant. Pack some patience coming here though...during busy times there's a wait for the food. It's worth it!

Still so good! My favorite is the ilachas de res. Shredded beef. It comes with rice and beans, sour cream, salad and tortillas. You can request a cabbage salad on the side (repollo con chile). Delish! They now accept credit cards so this is handy. But bring cash for tip!

I don't even know how to begin writing this. The food at this little hole in the wall in Burlingame is simply delicious, especially this ilachas de res (shredded beef stew) dish I had today. It comes with a stack of fresh homemade tortillas that's piping hot. Pro tip: make sure to ask for a side of repollo con chile (spicy cabbage salad) to go with whatever main dish you order. The workers here are super sweet and humble. They have recently started accepting credit cards which makes our visits here that much more convenient. When you are in Burlingame, be sure to visit this little spot that's a few steps away from the hustle and bustle of the downtown Burlingame Ave.

4.5 stars El Quetzal is a local, cozy restaurant offering a menu of homemade Guatemalan food. We started with the pork tamal, made of masa dough, tomato sauce, and pork wrapped in a banana leaf. The masa was much softer than in other tamals I've had, and the tomato sauce added a nice sweet and savory flavor. For my main course, I had the national dish of Guatemala, Pepian de Gallina, a thick stew made with a base of tomatoes, tomatillos, and chilies, and thickened with chayote seeds. The spicy, savory stew came with a stewed hen leg quarter, chayote, potatoes, green beans, and herbs, and was served with a side of rice, slaw, and soft, homemade corn tortillas. The food here was fresh and tasty, and the service was super friendly too, though the prices seemed high for the portion sizes.

I was honestly shocked walking into the restaurant and seeing that they expanded into the neighboring brick and mortar space. The ambiance was absolutely divine and felt like dining in a beautiful Italian courtyard. Such a warm and welcoming atmosphere! The staff was incredibly genuine and attentive. Huge credit to the sweet mother to be working the cashier register. I unfortunately did not catch her name, but she was so kind and caring toward my fiancé and I while we dined there, especially since I'm expecting as well. The runners and hosts were also wonderful. You can truly tell they have a great team dynamic. Now for the food... one Bay Area term: SCHMACK. Man, did I miss having such a variety of food items made to absolute deliciousness. I ordered the Palermo, hot chocolate, orange juice, and the Siena sweet crepe with no strawberries. My fiancé had the omelette and the French toast order. Everything was perfect for our cravings and tasted so fresh and comforting. We will definitely be returning with our families to celebrate our little blessing to come. Highly recommend Crepevine if you want food with a fresh taste that truly feels like home.

They are so sweet and funny with kids. They give the kids Wiki Sticks (which my toddler tried to eat lol) and after I showed her how to use them she was so happy. She ate pretty much all of my fries and was the happiest girl in the world. My favorites are the Cardinal sandwich with brie cheese and the Crepevine Club. You can easily share the Crepevine Club with another person and be plenty full. The Burlingame crepe is definitely my favorite crepe. I'll be back the next time we're in town to visit! PS...the expansion looks great and opened up a lot more seating!

As with other Embassy Suites, the indoor greenhouse/Atrium has always made Embassy Suites a favorite of mine. That and the made to order breakfast station for omelette, eggs any way you like it. However, you will notice that this location has a lot of pilots and flight attendants that stays here. What that means is that they will always have a good source of income. Due to that, they won't have the business reason to improve the rooms. I was on the 8th floor and the room is dated. My other complaint is the $45/night self-parking. There is no garage, and the self parking is not gated - so I really don't see the reason for the ridiculous hourly parking rate other than a way to bring revenue in

A great spot for classic brunch and diner comfort food…read more I'm always in the mood for breakfast (even at dinner, so I usually order the corned beef hash with homefries. It also comes with your choice of crepe, pancakes, or toast. The pancakes are seriously so delicious and the crepe is also a nice change of pace. My mom swears they have the best pancakes and I agree... Super fluffy and always fresh. On my most recent visit, the corned beef hash and potatoes were the best I've ever had. Everything was perfectly crispy and tasted homemade. My parents like to come for dinner too and enjoy the carbonara pasta and chicken parmigiana. It's not the fanciest or the most authentic but, delicious, homey, and satisfying! If you're craving comfort food, this is definitely worth checking out. The service is fantastic, so friendly and welcoming. Huge bonus that they offer dog-friendly outdoor seating!

My pork chop dinner included soup or salad, slice of toasted and buttered sourdough, potatoes or rice, vegetables and choice of dessert. All for just under $30 before tip. The meal was as expected for a '60s coffee shop. Salt is the dominant seasoning. The turkey and rice soup was a smart way to use leftover ingredients. The boiled red potatoes were good. The two thin pork chops were supposedly marinated, but I couldn't tell from tasting them. They were over cooked--dry, tough and needed some herbs. DH had the cheeseburger with potato salad and praised the meal. He also devoured my dessert--ice cream with chocolate sauce. Service was friendly and efficient, making me want to return. Next time I'll have something like a sandwich or burger.

"Do you want it or not!" Is all the manager would say to me…read more I ordered a pink cake with gold lettering, And definitely no roses for my wife's birthday. Instead I got this monstrosity. When I expressed this to the manager. The manager refused to even give me a decent discount on this gigantic mistake. Her options were you get a 10% discount ($ 4.00) Don't take the cake at all. (Ridiculous option considering I ordered it the night before for a morning pick up for an afternoon party.) Or come back at 3 for a replacement. Make it make sense, cake cutting is at 1pm. Hence the early pick up time. So understandably i'm angry. Mostly because the actual manager could care less and only offered up a nonsense discount or go home with nothing. Customer care clearly doesn't matter here. I only wanted a reasonable discount for this huge mistake and she absolutely refused. I hope the owners are reading this. This is my go to location for all special occasions and this manager is doing a great job of not taking care your loyal customers. Safeway is up the street with 20 dollar cakes and they get the order right. Her employee who could not follow directions is also at fault here but she seemed well insulated by the manager. I was treated like I was the problem even though the mistake was theirs. My advice to you the customer. Any custom cake you order there make sure to take the slip where the order is being jotted down and double and triple check it yourself that it is correct. Because when your special occasion cake says happy birthday instead of happy anniversary pucker up. Because the manager will just tell you tough S**t.
