I got the seafood stew, the clam chowder, and octopus! I recommend the seafood over the other two cause it was really good with the coconut rice. The stew was very flavorful. I didn't have to wait and lie on a Saturday at 1 PM.

The weather was perfect in HMB when we went and we sat in the covered patio. There was live music playing at the time on a Saturday afternoon. There was a nice view of the blooming lupine and the ocean in the back. We got seated pretty quick upon arriving and I notice the inside of the restaurant nicely decorated with Peruvian items spread throughout. Our waiter was friendly and patient in waiting for us to decide whether wanted. We ordered lomo saltado, ceviche and chicken anticuchos. Everything was great! The fish was fresh, the sauces were perfect

Perfect celebratory lunch spot to complete your half moon bay trip. The menu had so many options and everything we ordered was extremely fresh. I'd definitely reccommend trying the ceviche sampler - wasn't a huge fan of the chips we had to order on the side to scoop them but the fish was sooo good. It's also really filling. The palta rellena was a unique dish that was good too. Yucca fries made for a great side. I did find the tequeños de camarones to be just okay. We came at 4 PM on a Saturday and it was a beautiful day to sit outside. The ambiance makes you feel like you're on vacation. However, despite the restaurant being basically empty, the service was pretty lacking. It took our server a lot of time to clear out plates, bring our boxes, and get us the check. Usually I'm pretty patient but it felt that even after noticing that the first time we were left unattended the pattern continued.

Had our reservation time moved due to Holiday but Absolutely loved our experience at La Costanera in Half Moon Bay! The oceanfront views alone make it worth the visit -- watching the sunset while enjoying amazing Peruvian cuisine was unforgettable. The food was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The ceviche was perfectly balanced with bright citrus and fresh seafood, and the lomo saltado was tender and packed with flavor. You can really taste the quality and authenticity in every dish. The cocktails were okay but the Arroz con Mariscos and Lomo Soltado was amazing. Service was warm, attentive, and knowledgeable without being overbearing. The staff made us feel welcomed from the moment we walked in. If you're looking for a special dinner spot with incredible views, delicious food, and great ambiance, this is it. Definitely one of the best dining experiences in Half Moon Bay!

An absolute stunning location combined with a menu that showcases Peruvian Cuisine's finest points, La Costanera has it all for an impressive night out. Tucked far away from the city, the restaurant used to be in Pacifica, where in 2012 and 2013 they were awarded a Michelin star. The new location is in Half Moon Bay, still complete with ocean views. The first (!) bar is just past the host stand and before the staircase (!!) leading to the main dining room. The decor is phenomenal and the lighting during dinner sets it just right. The food. Fantastic. Exquisite. Fulfilling for the heart and soul, not just the stomach. -Pulpo a la Parrilla- an excellent small plate. Smokey from the grill and full of citrus from the salsa criolla -Chicharrones de la Casa, Calamari- no surprises here, a nicely breaded and fried calamari, with peppers and onions to boot. -Black Cod Aguachile- with leche de tigre and accompaniments. A fantastic special of the night, truly exemplifies fresh, citrusy flavors with a delightfully buttery cut of raw black cod -Chuletitas de Cordero- lamb chops with potato gratin and chimichurri. Very rarely do we order lamb chops, but we're so glad we did! Beautifully cooked to just medium rare, it must have been glazed or marinated in something because there was no typical gamey taste with these chops Friends also ordered the Ahi Tuna Tartare, Lomo Saltado, and Pescado a lo Macho, which were all inspiring, fantastic, yes. We also shared a plethora of desserts: -Vanilla Bean Panna Cotta- with organic Papua New Guinea (coffee dusting probably), passion fruit redux- loved the touch of coffee with vanilla -Chocolate Carlitos- flourless chocolate terrine- a favorite dessert, solid points, no notes. -Lava cake- a classic, served just right; hot enough to flow but not enough to burn -Alfajores- cookie sandwiches with dulce de leche- classic caramel cookie sando, can't go wrong! Cookies had just the right amount of crumble to them as well. Fun doesn't stop there! We also had a flight of Pisco Sours: traditional, passion fruit, chicha morada (looks like jamaica, tastes way "spice"ier) We really hit it out of the park with this one. A memorable night with our friends on a parents night out, gorgeous scenery surrounding us inside the restaurant and outside on the water, and delicious, crave-able plates/drinks. A MUST try for those wanting to escape the busy city, luckily only a few minutes away!

Came for my brother's bday, helmed by Peruvian chef Carlos Altamirano, it frequently appears on the Michelin Guide. The food and cocktails are a blend of traditional and modern and the interior design features the same theming. We were seated near the outside doors which is a terrible position, it felt like a column was blocking our view and every time a patron or staff would go in or out we would be blasted by cold air. We've had plenty of Peruvian so we tried some atypical entrees. I don't know if these are very unpopular to order because it took a really long time for the mains to come out after the appetizers and each entree had something majorly wrong with it. Gin Tonic: Reminded me of how it is in the UK, has more controlled garnishing of lemon peel, basil, and berries. Tasted fine. Ceviche Tasting: sample sizes of fresh fish, ahi tuna, and a mix of fish, shrimp, squid, and mussels. The portions were great for our table of 5 and they were especially good with the house made potato chips. These were so good we were really looking forward to the entrees. Yuca Croquettes: Yuca stuffed with chorizo and raisins. With Peruvian yellow chili pepper curry. Tasted incredible but the garnishing made it feel dragged through a garden and completed with some of the more delicate flavors. There was also way too much curry on bottom and all the hard work forming and frying the yucca balls seemed wasted because the curry made it soggy. Peruvian Paella: Mussels, squid, clams, and prawns with a Peruvian pepper base and shrimp broth. This was super watery and confused me, a lot of the yelp pictures also looked like rice in broth and I thought maybe Peruvian Paella is supposed to be like that but I looked up some Peruvian Paella recipes and it doesn't seem wet. Pescado a lo Macho: Roasted fish over seafood stew (Mussels, clams, calamari, and shrimp), mushrooms, in arocoto-paprika sauce, and served with coconut rice. The fish and mushrooms were fine but the rice was undercooked and hard, it was the base for the fish and every bite was unpleasant because of it. Service started fine and then became so slow to the point I had to walk around the restaurant looking for our server so we could get the check. For the accolades and price I felt like the dishes had too many basic mistakes and the service wasn't great, we enjoyed the Peruvian food truck that used to be parked outside much better.

My husband and I made a belated Valentines Day trip to Half Moon Bay and whenever we go there we make sure and visit La Costanera for drinks and dinner. This time we had a Pisco Sour and a Smoky Spark, both excellent. I had the Arroz Chautauqua (a delicious Asian-inspired fries rice with shrimp and ribs and Peruvian spice) and my husband had my husband had the grilled Salmon. We want to give a special shoutout to Karen our server, who took such good care of us and also gave us great information about Peruvian food and wheee to visit if we go there.

I reverently visited La Constanera for the second time (because the first time was so delightful). Staff and Service: - There is a host stand outside, inside downstairs, and inside upstairs - There are options to dine both inside and outside - All servers were kind Food and Drinks: - Pisco Punch: this was such a fun drink! Flavorful, strong, and tart - Margarita: go-to classic. Delicious and citrusy - Lomo Saltado: despite having ordered this dish during both of my visits, I forgot to take pictures both times. As my favorite Peruvian dish, I always dive in without thinking. Definitely recommend this dish - Roasted beet salad: flavorful and refreshing - Oysters: we ordered three as we had eaten some nearby beforehand. They are on the smaller side, and come with a fun sauce Miscellaneous: - Parking is available via street parking and a parking lot nearby - Reservations can be made vis Open Table on their website - Outdoor dining has fire pits and heat lamps

The special cocktail was pretty good--slightly on the sweet side, but still tasty. The grilled octopus was tender and well-cooked, though the portion was a bit small. The oysters and grilled fish were very fresh, and the fish in particular had great flavor. The fish portion was also on the smaller side, but the taste really stood out.

First question do I recommend this place? YES YES YES this place is amazing!! The location is great with lots of parking but the real feed back is the beautiful ambience the restaurant holds beautifully decorated, I love the high celling and welcoming host Al is the man! The best customer service ever! I miss that kinda of hospitality. We ordered the seafood paella and the Loma Salado both great choices very happy with our decision so flavorful I didn't want the meal to end! The food was amazing! Over all 5 stars I can't wait to come back and try more!!

We've been to LC since its location on Montara Beach. This one has a different vibe, but still very HMB. Overall food was great as always. Drinks are pretty awesome, too. Busy weekend since it was in 70s hovering 80s. We always get the tender lomo saltado, and they had a special salmon tiradito, burger for the teen, clam chowder was nice and creamy and dulce de leche. We were disappointed that every table got the chips and dip some even refill but we never did, and I thought it was an orderable appetizer item. Then I recall getting them previously. So at the end of our meal we asked our server and she says oh yes that's complimentary and it's the busser's job. We were a bit surprised by that answer with no apology or offer or to not notice as she was taking our order. What turned to be a great meal, this was the one that knocks off stars.

The pescado a lo macho is THE dish to get. 5/5, like a seafood curry. It might sound funky but the seafood fish (I think swordfish was the fish of the day), cooked in the coconut sauce was divine. My husband got this dish and I could not stop taking bites. It also came with a LOT of food. Lomo saltado 3/5, was yummy but a tad on the saltier side. The dish didn't come with too much meat, and I was expecting more for the price. Empanadas: 4/5, solid. We got the chicken and was yummy with the sauce Yucca croquettes: 3/5, the rice balls didn't really taste like much and were kinda bland, better with eating them with the onions and other toppings Vanilla bean panna cotta 5/5, this was delicious. The passion fruit syrup makes it feel like an explosion of flavor in your mouth, balanced well with the vanilla bean taste of the panna cotta. The interior is decorated with a beachy sea theme, nice enough to come for a birthday or celebration. We had a stroller so appreciated being seated on the lower floor, away from the commotion of the busier upstairs area.

The restaurant was a little more than half full when we had dinner there on a Friday night and the ambiance is lively but not loud. We ordered a variety of dishes and everything was delicious, with very generous portion sizes that left us so full (with leftovers to spare). The ceviches were bright, limey, and tart in the best way, the chicken wings were crispy and juicy, the papa rellena was especially interesting (almost like an inside-out, deep-fried baked potato) with olives and raisins that were a pleasant surprise, and the lomo saltado was as comforting and dependable as it usually is. To top it all off, they even offer Peruvian beers, which was the perfect way to wash everything down. The location is a little bit odd but easy enough to find and park (there is plenty of parking across the main street in front of the BevMo if there isn't any directly in front of the restaurant).

She was incredibly sweet, attentive, and took great care of our entire party. Thank you, Khin! We had a large group, and I really appreciated that they accommodated us inside since it was a bit chilly that day. They seated us in the front area, which we loved. Everything we ordered from the appetizers, to the main dishes was packed with flavor. Nothing missed the mark. Truly one of the best brunch experiences in town! I had the chilaquiles along with a champagne drink that came with different juice options and fresh fruit such an adorable and fun presentation. My family couldn't stop raving about how delicious everything was, including the dessert. We'll definitely be back for future family gatherings and next time, we're excited to try the outdoor patio seating!

Service: 4/5 Our waitress was friendly and efficient. Food: 4/5 Guava pancakes are highly recommended. Fluffy and not so dense with delicious guava sauce that wasn't sweet at all. Veggies omelette - Tasty and loved the potatoes that came with it. Tuna salad - HUGE pieces of THICK tuna; well worth the money! Salad was incredibly fresh and tasty. *Free refills on coffee* I'd highly recommend this place and will be back.

My family and I would always come here for birthday dinners or stop by on our way back to San Jose from San Francisco. Walking in always feels warm and welcoming with all the Peruvian paintings and decor throughout the restaurant. One of my favorite things is introducing my friends to this place because they always end up loving it too! The food here has always been consistently delicious and never disappoints and the customer service is great as well! If you're looking for authentic Peruvian food with a welcoming atmosphere, this place is definitely worth visiting.

We were laughing when I took the picture of the lomo because where else do you get to have fries, rice AND bread? The lomo was juicy and easy to eat, the onions were on point- not evenly cooked with a bite, and the fries were bomb. The portion is very generous- two can share or you can indulge. For health reasons one cousin chose the chicken, and she was sad because it wasn't as good. The table next to us had the duck and rice, and they reported that it was delicious. The cousins will be getting that next time. That plate looked like it could have fed four girls easily. The staff is very attentive. The owner was there, and he was very friendly to chat with. The old school restaurant interior is decorated with lots of Peruvian things. They have the TV going on along with music, but you can hold a conversation easily. It's on a meter free block with maybe a 1-2 hour limit, and the rest of the area has meters.
