I've been here twice. This place isn't bad...but its not good either. Very run of the mill salty, yet unseasoned food. Everything just kinda tastes meh. The food needs more soul. I can see how this place might be a comfort to some. Its giving me middle American diner in the 90s. While I do enjoy the cozy atmosphere and friendly staff the food just falls flat and leaves something to be desired.

My dad's food which i'm pretty sure was raw??

This is the nastiest fucking restaurant my family and I have EVER been to. First of all, our waiter, Lance, was a creep who literally said he had a "shock collar for me" ?! Next, they were extremely disrespectful to the family next to us, pretty sure because they were clearly hispanic, Lance assumed orders for them.. "let me guess you want mozzarella sticks"...etc, then got her order wrong and picked a fight with her. The woman also asked a different server, "Sir come here please" he walked away, my mom called him, he looked over, and again walked away. My dad's food was so disgusting, and btw let me mention it took..umm maybe like 2 minutes to all get our food? Clearly it's pre-heated, not fresh or cooked at all. My mom's soup looked like straight up vomit. Also why would you give my mom a straw with her wine?! Clearly this restaurant is scamming the old people / locals, especially people in the hotel across the street because it's easy access. Stay far, far away from this shit hole

Paid $30 for two slices of cake to go. I was kind of shocked! They were delicious but seemed expensive

For some reason I was expecting more from this place. Walked in and it seemed like an old Dennys/ Diner. Nothing exciting but it was clean. The server seemed nice enough and seemed like she was really trying. She might have been new because every question I asked she had to go back to the cook to ask. I asked her if I could substitute the toast and potatoes with either eggs or bacon and she goes back to ask then returns and says yes we can give you just the steak and bacon. I told her I still wanted the eggs so she goes back to ask again and returns adding we will have to charge you as a side of we do that. I told her to leave it as is because she was getting more confused with each question. I ordered the special steak and eggs and she asked me what kind of steak. I told her whatever steak came with the breakfast. She seemed very confused. When the food came out was quite subpar. It wasn't awful but it wasn't great by any means. The toast was hard and the steak flavorless nothing special about it. I would probably not pick this place to eat at if you have other options in the area. The bill for 2 adults came out to $70 with tip. 2 steak and egg breakfasts, 1 kids grilled cheese, and 2 coffees. Definitely not worth the price tag. The one positive part was the girl that was responsible for refilling our drinks and coffee was on point. She made sure our cups never got half way. She kept them full even after our meal.

We stopped in here with some friends while visiting the half moon bay area. The reason our friends picked this particular restaurant was for its family friendliness with their toddler and that is the only reason we came here. The highlight of our experience was our waitress who was joyful and friendly. Everything else was downhill. The restaurant itself stank and the bathrooms smelled like sewage. The kitchen was a mess and the menu was so massive, there's no way you can maintain quality with a menu that huge. I ordered the green salad which was terrible but there was really not a whole lot I could find for a vegetarian that wasn't otherwise probably coming out of a bag and reheated. Hubby ordered the French dip and it was massive, soggy and terrible. Our friends ordered the Spanish sausage omelette with side pancake, eggs Benedict and kids Mac and cheese, all which looked very pasty and bland. Overall the portions were enormous. The quality was very low, and I was really surprised at the prices for such low quality food. Our server however was lovely and they get an extra star for her because she was attentive and really hard working. Otherwise it was a solid one star experience with definitely one star food. Would not return if in the area again.

Half Moon Bay is a beautiful place to visit but the average cost of dinning has gone up significantly recently. This location is a little ways done from the main tourist area but is worth a visit especially if you like the old fashioned "Dinner Experience". Lots of open space filled with Large cushioned booth's so you can sit comfortably enjoying the large window views. Food is good but overpriced, however the service makes up for that. If you're a beer drinker you'll get a little more if you go with Tap rather than bottled. Few things: -Kids portion are large and come extremely hot in temp -Water tastes like Tap (perhaps go for bottled). -Beer on Tap kinda has a funny taste bottled beer taste old -appetizer's are lacking in options -For dessert a number of pies and ice cream options. I had a cheesecake 3/5. Over all good service and restrooms are clean.

service was great chef doesn't know how to cook over medium eggs- cut in and a huge puddle of uncooked egg whites all over my (small) serving of hash browns and cut up sausage- yuck!! I blotted up most of it by the time our server spotted me and asked if I wanted them to cook them more- by then half my egg was on my napkin- so no point. I had almost ordered the omelette- should have! I was a little surprised to see they charge an extra $2 to have mushrooms in your Joes special- as far as I know that's a standard ingredient.

I really liked the pickled onion and the choice of white cheddar. I'd say overall it wasn't as greasy as a full burger which I really appreciated! - Mushroom sandwich: out of the 2 sandwiches this one was my favorite! The Maitake mushrooms were very tender and flavorful! - Homemade Potato chips: staff told us that this tends to sell out before the end of the day, but we were lucky enough to get an order of them and they were very very good! The addition of nutritional yeast in the seasoning added a lot of great to the chips! - Herb salad: super refreshing salad, this salad is made with all herbs and the lemon dressing that they used was very light and refreshing, which I think balanced out the rest of the meal! ~overall~ I definitely recommend dad's luncheonette for a quick bite. The staff were very friendly and the food was really good. Everything tasted very fresh and not too heavy.

We came here to celebrate an anniversary in the family. The views are spectacular. In fact, I would…read moresuggest coming early to walk around the property. There is a walking trail along the property. The restaurant felt a bit like a museum. There is a lot of space between tables so your meal will feel pretty private. The staff was nice and explained each dish in detail, as it arrived. The restaurant offers a three course or a seven course tasting menu. The three course menu is double the portion of the seven course menu. You're getting about the same amount of food, If you want variety, go for the seven course menu. That's what we did. You can also opt to wine pairing each course. Our table wanted a combination of cocktails and wine. I asked the sommelier for drink suggestions to bring out the best flavors of the dishes. He suggested a sparkling rose for the first couple of courses and then a red for the remaining course. We ordered the bottle of red for the table. I felt like the drink choices were great enhancements to the dishes. Our first dish was a mini caviar tart, with a mussel in a citrus bath, and a cherry "juice". We loved the cherry juice. It was very unique and felt like it was solely made from cherries. It didn't have a lot of extra sugar in it. The caviar tart was nice and light. It was a one bit dish. The mussel was good too, but I felt like the pickled veggies were fighting against the citrus. Our second dish was an early girl tomato and ahi salad. This was a great dish with fresh flavors. The third dish was a saffron pasta with fava beans. I'm not usually a fan of saffron, but I couldn't even taste it in this dish. I liked the addition of fava beans. That was a nice twist. The next courses were the trout and duck. I liked the light feel of the trout and the delicate flavors. The mint was a nice touch. The duck was equally great. It wasn't too gamey and I liked the jus that accompanied the dish. We swapped out the planned stone fruit dessert for the chocolate and coffee dessert. I can see how the stone fruit dessert would have complimented the light feel of the whole menu. I kind of wish I would have had the menu as the chef intended it, but I love coffee and couldn't resist the other dessert. It was definitely a heavy dessert. It was very rich with great flavors. I couldn't finish all of it. Overall, a great night. We loved the view, hospitality of the staff, and the food.

You are allowed to order two items at a time during the 90 minute brunch portion. You then have 30 minutes for the dessert items, though the waiter did say we could order more brunch items during that time too. I maxed out during round 5. Round 1: The MARIN COUNTY CHEESE TASTING and the PAN SEARED SCALLOP. There were three types of cheese on the plate with some fig jam and some raisin bread. Everything was super tasty. Loved the fig jam. The scallop was very nicely cooked. Loved the truffle foam. It was supposedly polenta foam but it was very smooth and not grainy at all. Round 2: CAVATELLI and CHOCOLATE CHIP PANCAKES. I think the pasta was my favorite meal of the day. It had a great truffle and parmesan flavor. Soft pasta. Yum. The pancakes were also delicious. Nice and fluffy with melted chocolate chips. I did hold the ricotta cream from it as I know I don't like it. Round 3: LOBSTER ROLL and WAGYU BEEF SLIDER. The lobster roll was tasty but messy. I don't like caviar so I had that held. The slider was very tasty. The sauce on it was a bit too BBQ-sauce flavor for me but overall not a bad bite. Round 4: I did the ORGANIC MAITAKE MUSHROOM and another scallop. The mushrooms were super flavorful. Loved the crispy rice puffs on them. Round 5: I just did on plate - the BELGIAN WAFFLES. I loved the waffles. Crispy outside, soft inside. Warm apples on top and a big dollop of whipped cream. Yum! Dessert: There were carrot cakes, coconut macaroons, strawberry shortcakes and a chocolate pistachio balls. I only add the carrot cake there and took the rest home for later. The staff was very good. Always taking away empty plates and refilling drinks and water. A splurge of a meal but worth it for good food and service.

The food is great as well and he has NOT raised his prices by much over the years. Whereas most of the other restaurants in town and up and down the coast have raised prices, the portion sizes have gotten smaller and there are no longer any local discounts. Also remember that this is PUB food, so people shouldn't expect Michelin Star dishes. There are so many great dishes on the menu that I can't even quote them all (favorites of mine are the chili, onion ring tower, burgers/fries and the fish and chips. It is good down home family fun for all and he also has sports on all of the time on multiple tv's. This truly is a hidden gem and time capsule that has survived for decades and will probably keep going strong long after some of these high priced, fancy food places have gone out of business. This truly is the Disneyland of PUBS in the US. I highly recommend checking out this pub because you're gonna get a lot more than just food and drink!

Lucked out with a table (anywhere) to sit with our dog. They offer water bowls and toys to play with while we're dining. My dog was able to chill for the most part (larger dogs make our rescue pup nervous) but he liked the couple behind us. Eclectic: It's a cool place with different dining areas. They were setting up for Karaoke (Friday/Saturday nights). There's so much to explore with all the knick knacks. The playlist in the dining room area was a wide range of music - I don't know how to explain it but you're listening to "It's a Small World" and then "Sweet Caroline!" You have to see it for yourself. The gender assigned restrooms are located in between the pinball machines. I literally walked outside and then walked back in when I finally found it and was embarrassed! Food: We split the special of the day - prime rib sandwich, but my husband was still hungry and we split a sampler platter. The food was what I expected - pub grub but it was worth it with the vibe. Drink: I usually don't drink but their cocktails were really good. I forgot what I had but it was the rum based drink. Overall, I hope I don't wait another 10 years to return - that was a great ending to our day trip to Half Moon Bay.
