Over the years I've had intermittent visits to this establishment, some that were good and some, disappointing. Today was the first time I've been here in quite a few years. I typically avoid these coastal restaurants that cater to a lot of tourists which can often compromise quality and service. Today everything was almost spot on. It was a perfect, beautiful, coastal day. Although the restaurant was very busy, we were seated almost immediately at table with a spectacular ocean view. Our server Juan couldn't have been more personable and attentive. He was right on time from our first cocktail to the delivery of the check. Juan checked on us multiple times to make sure we had everything we needed and were content. Our orders were delivered promptly by multiple servers who were all proficient and friendly. The oysters we ordered were served cold and fresh with all the appropriate condiments. The seafood chowder was very good but me, personally, a thick, creamy, soup base is not my preference. Originally, we really wanted to get fish & chips at Barbra's Fishtrap but predictably, on a perfect weather holiday weekend, the line was intimidatingly long. Nevertheless, the Miramar fish & chips did not disappoint! Today, I rate our overall experience as excellent. I hope anyone choosing this establishment will enjoy a similar visit. read more

We come from Santa Cruz and I always tell people this is my favorite restaurant in the world! My mother loves this restaurant too. She said she will loan it to us as a joke because she says it's "My favorite restaurant." We've been coming here for very special occasions, like our anniversary or birthdays. My mom's name is Frances and one time on her birthday we came. It was one of the waitresses birthday too 8/22. We enjoyed the food so much we spoke with Francisco the chef. He was very nice! We even come here before big trips when we fly out of SF airport. To start our vacation right. We had dinner here in Friday 9/11/26 as we came into town to celebrate my husband's birthday and we stayed two nights. On Friday we loved the food, the service and our waiter Luis was so good, fun and an all around excellent waiter. I even took a photo. I got the grilled salmon and instead of rice I got fries. I'm gluten free for an allergy, NOT preference. Fries are the one thing I can eat. In fact the reason I love your restaurant so much is I can have a dessert here that is gluten free, dairy free. Every time I come I have that flourless cake. This is the only restaurant that offers a dessert that I can have. Every time we come it's usually 4-5 stars. We went there again on Sat. Our waitress, Maria was so nice and helpful. The fries today were different and are obviously dipped in flour. I asked Maria can I get the fries that I had just last night? She said that's the only fries they have. I asked to talk to the manager and Salvador came up to our table, no smile, no apology. He was rude and said these are the only fries they have. He was obviously bothered by having to come over. Maria was very apologetic and very sweet (though it was not her doing) and offered a baked potato and I said yes. Then she came back and apologized again they are not available until after 3. Why do you RUIN perfectly good fries with gluten that some people are allergic to? Fries are awesome all by themselves. No need to overdue it by dipping them in gluten. Why do you ruin the one thing that I can usually count on? GET REGULAR FRIES. damn. Is it the same owner as before? We like to go to hindquarter restaurant in our native Santa Cruz and was there for my birthday two years ago. My best friend Kim knew the owner as she is in the restaurant business. He was one of the owners of Miramar beach restaurant and he was wearing the shirt from Miramar. I said I LOVE THAT RESTAURANT! And he gave me the shirt off his back literally then and there. Now that's above and beyond! So sweet. Salvador ~ if you're so unhappy (seems very unhappy) then move on. Give the management job to someone who is kind and proud of where their work. Someone who cares. I was extremely disappointed today at the fries, then at how they treated my complaint. They did give us a 10% discount, however I'm still very disappointed. read more

Came here for Sunday lunch after spending time at Half Moon Bay National Park. We came around 12:45 pm so the parking lot was full and got lucky to get one when someone was leaving. We had to wait a bit before getting seated but snagged a window view inside. Wife ordered the salmon dish and clam chowder whereas I went with the tri tip sandwich. My tri tip came first and got to say it was pretty good. Thinly sliced beef with grill onions and cheese. Hint of horseradish and au ju sauce. 5 stars Wife enjoyed the clam chowder and her salmon was nicely presented. Service was excellent and attentive. My family went for a day trip to Half Moon Bay and we went to this restaurant for lunch. The food was mediocre and the service was very slow. Our poor waiter was also the bartender and he was running around trying to do both. I felt this was unfair, the restaurant was sooo busy even though it was a week day. Great service! I came on a Friday afternoon right before the dinner crowd. I was able to enjoy the tail-end of their lunch menu and was seated right by the window with a beautiful ocean view. I had the friendliest waiter (and host!) who even recommended that I take a nice stroll down alongside the coastal trail. I could definitely feel the old charm to this coastal neighborhood gem. It seems like a nice place that guests have been coming to for years. Joined friends in HMB for a bike ride and we decided to stop here for lunch. We sat outside, which can get chilly, but there were heaters and glass windows keeping us nice and cozy. Naomi provided excellent service. She was attentive, funny and helped us narrow down our options. As for the food, we all enjoyed what we ordered. My chowder was thick and tasty, perfect for HMB. The complementary bread and butter they provide went really well with my chowder. Since it was an exercise day I also enjoyed a chocolate fondant. It was rich and yummy. My hubby and I came for an early lunch on a Tuesday. We were enjoying a day trip away from the heat of the east bay. This was our first time eating here, but my hubby had read reviews and looked at the menu, and we decided it looked like a great place for lunch. We loved that we could sit outside and look at the water. Our server was very friendly and spaced our courses out perfectly. We started with the cheesy artichoke cakes. We both really enjoyed these, and would order them again. We then split a bowl of artichoke soup. So delicious. Hubby said he would try and recreate this for us at home. Then for our entrees we each had salads. Hubby had the Caesar salad with blackened chicken and blackened prawns. I had the roasted beet and arugula salad. We were offered complementary bread that looked amazing- but we declined because we were trying to watch our carbs. On the back on the menu explained the history of the restaurant. The atmosphere was festive on the final day of World Cup. Multiple television screens and loud cheers from the customers. In between cheers the calming pianist played classic tunes. The seafood chowder, shrimp and crab Louie, and bread were all delicious. My Spicy Margarita was just right. And last but not least we watched the waves come in from our table. We were going to eat at our either of two usual spots, but they were both packed and waits were at least 30 minutes. We had heard about the Miramar for years and decided to try it. Forget the other places, this restaurant is a real "hidden gem". Fabulous waterfront and good parking to start, but the key items are great food, service, and a quiet relaxing meal. The seabass special was tender and expertly prepared. The fish and chips weren't greasy and done just right. Prices are consistent with the "other" places but the entire dining experience was the main factor. Our server, Juan, was one of the best we have had in some time. This is our favorite restaurant along the water in Half Moon Bay/Miramar! The casual ambiance makes it feel comfortable and inviting. They have a lovely patio with views of the Pacific Ocean! It's also dog friendly. They have umbrellas and heat lamps if needed. We were seated immediately and our order was taken promptly. All the service staff was kind and took good care of us. To drink, we had lattes. They can make any coffee drink and they are served in fancy glasses. It's good coffee too! The also have complimentary lemon water. The food here is FANTASTIC! Make sure to try the baby artichoke cakes as an appetizer. They have great texture and flavor and are vegetarian! For entrees, we had the calamari steak with pasta and the crab melt with fries. The calamari steak had a crunchy, light coating that perfectly complimented the calamari steak, which was cooked well--not chewy at all. It comes with a generous portion of pasta as well. The crab melt is flavorful and well balanced with avocado, tomato, and a thin layer of cheese. The bread is exactly right--buttered sourdough. The French fries are fried to perfection and are a great side to the melt. One thing missing from their menu is lobster roll, which I thought was a staple at all Half Moon Bay restaurants. What we ordered: + Fish & Chips - this was our favorite of what we ordered. The fish was light and the batter was crispy. The fries were delicious too. + Mahi Mahi fish tacos - these were not bad, but a bit too saucy. There's salsa and some other sauce, and then the slaw had a lot of vinegar. So the whole thing kinda fell apart. However, the fish was good. + Clam chowder - pretty good... This oceanfront spot on Miramar Beach is a semi-hidden gem that feels like stumbling onto a little slice of coastal magic. With waves crashing just steps away and a sunset view that looks like it was painted just for you on clear evenings, the atmosphere alone is worth the visit. They don't take reservations, and happy hour pricing is only honored at the bar apparently, but sitting at the bar ended up being one of the best parts of the evening. The bartender was a genuinely kind gentleman who made the experience feel personal and unhurried. There's also a great selection of beers on tap, perfect for settling in and watching the sky turn gold and cheering with strangers while watching football. Our table was put together fast. The food was beautifully presented, with rich flavors and meats that were incredibly tender. Most of the appetizers aren't really designed for large groups. They are better suited for sharing on a date night or with a smaller party (5 or less) but everything we tried was thoughtfully crafted and delicious. We did run into a small challenge with allergy accommodations, but the staff worked through it and made sure everything was safe and enjoyable in the end. Creme brule could have just a bit longer crisping. So mouthwatering though! Between the warm service, standout dishes, and unbeatable views, this place captures everything wonderful about Miramar Beach dining. A breezy, romantic spot well worth seeking out. read more

We have eaten at Miramar Beach Restaurant quite a few times, but this is my first review. We had a great group lunch for 59 people. Also nice that there is a parking lot for parking. I had the Linguine with Clams and Shrimps which the 4 star is my rating. The dish was very tasty and garlicky. Lots of clams and 3 shrimps with slice of garlic bread. Reviews from those I sat with were mixed for their dish. The Salmon Bake was dry. The Roasted Turkey was too salty to eat and my friend said she could only eat the side dishes on the turkey plate and left the turkey untouched. The Grilled Flat Iron Steak received pretty good reviews from people that ordered it. We also started with appetizers of Deep Fried Calamari and Garlic Cheese Bread; both were excellent. Our meal also included Caesar Salad served family style and dessert was Apple Pie Ala Mode. The service for our large party was excellent! 23 Years Later: An Iconic View, But the Kitchen Missed the Mark Moved back to Half Moon Bay earlier this year and have been checking out the local spots we used to frequent. Coming back here after 22 years, the nostalgia was real! Here is how the visit broke down: The Good: The oceanfront view is still superb and sunset was genuinely breathtaking. The Okay: Service was fine--polite and present, though nothing special. The Bad: Unfortunately, the food was entirely tasteless and lacked any real flavor. The Duchess and I were there Wednesday May 20th 2026 to celebrate a wedding anniversary, ours. Not telling how many, don't want to date myself. We started with a couple of glasses of Moet champagne (French), and the very nice complimentary bread & butter. Knowing one should always order seafood when dining at the coast, but since "One" wasn't dining with us, I throwing caution to the wind, ordered the FILET MIGNON steak $49. Served with compound butter, mashed potatoes (baked pot if you wished), a pleasant vegetable mix that I seriously don't remember, because of the follow up glasses of Sauvignon Blanc and the after dinner cognac, which was a very healthy pour. That steak was "da bomb", juicy, tender, grill marks maybe indicating it was prepared over a wood fire in an enchanted forest? My lovely dining companion (incase the Duchess reads my review), loved her dish, WILD MEXICAN PRAWNS WITH LINGUINE $39. She finished off the evening with a TIRAMISU $9 and I with the aforenoted cognac. Our inside table had a super view of the Pacific ocean and our server was charming and knowledgeable. We sat outside with the ocean view and it was a gorgeous day. Cannot beat the place or scenery. Waitress was very busy but made sure to check in and provided great service. My salad came and wasn't what I had ordered. Took a while to resolve but she made it right and was very nice about it. Food is good. Not amazing, but good. As an old geezer I appreciate the "classic" vibe :) The food here was solid classic as well, we split a Caesar salad, my partner got linguini with seafood, and I got crab ravioli, and we also splurged on a bottle of Prosecco, which would have impressed the younger me. Miramar Beach Restaurant has so much going for it -- incredible views, a great location, lots of parking, and a really charming setting. On paper, this place should be a standout. Unfortunately, the experience hasn't fully lived up to that potential. Service at the bar has been hit or miss depending on the bartender, and the cocktails often feel more thrown together than thoughtfully crafted. We also had a server who consistently pushed add-ons across the table without clearly explaining they came with extra charges, which came across as deceptive rather than helpful. The oysters have always been just okay -- which is frustrating given the location and what they should be capable of delivering. The views, however, are incredible. The setting is beautiful, and the live music adds a nice touch. Overall, this place is absolutely worth revisiting because the setting is beautiful and the potential is huge -- but consistency in service, cocktails, and food would take it to the next level. read more

Calamari was very rubbery and no flavor, the dipping red sauce was actually marinara sauce not cocktail sauce. I ordered the Dungeness crab melt, the bread was barely toasted,crab meat no flavor it was dry they through a sliced tomato and sliced avocado on it and here you go. Also ordered the Miramar burger the patty came from being frozen if you know you know also tossed together cheese bun also barely not toasted. Fries and onion rings were double fried in old grease again if you know you know. Our server couldn't be heard his volume was at a 3 we had to ask him to repeat what he was asking us. He had on dark sunglasses (yes) sunglasses not reading glasses it was 11:30am. After my lemon drop, which was very tasty, we tried fish tacos, plus a cheese burger and clams. We all found our lunches delicious. We are visiting my sister who lives in San Carlos, and has for more than 40 yrs. She often visits you & your cuisine for certain occasions or just any time they feel like it. What a great lunch we had at Miramar! We had a group of 59 dine at Miramar and it did not disappoint. We feasted on cheesy bread, fried calamari, turkey, salmon, flat iron steak and clams and shrimp linguini. My salmon was very tender and cooked just right. The cheesy bread was delicious and the fried calamari had a lot of tentacles which we love. The most popular dish was the clams and shrimp linguini. Great spot right on the beach. Been coming here for years. Food is good, drinks are strong, and there's a great view. There's also a great piano player inside who is a lot of fun. There is happy hour on weekdays in the afternoon at the bar. Go for a walk, stop at Miramar, and have a great time. A gem in HMB. Was driving through the area around dinner time and saw the sign for beach front restaurant off hwy 1 and decided that would be a perfect stop. There's plenty of parking right by the beach in what seems like a private neighborhood area with beach entrance and path to walk along the beach. The restaurant is large with a wrap around bar and outside seating. I sat at the bar where I had a nice view of the ocean. There were old black and white pictures of the bay area all over including ones of the bridge being built and of the original Cliff House. I didn't realize until I was leaving and saw the sign that this is a historic restaurant. For food/ drinks I started with a cosmo, it was pretty good, I have no complaints, it was nothing special but they usually never are lol! I then got the fish tacos they were really good! I also got the Chichi, that was a specialty drink of theirs that was a blended drink with coconut, pineapple and I forgot what else but it was delicious! Highly recommend that. This whole place had an overall great vibe. The staff seemed friendly and like they all got along and enjoyed being there. Everyone pitched in to help each customer too, it wasn't like that's your server or that's your bartender no one can or will help you like in other places. The texture was off, kind of dry and crumbly, and it didn't have much crab flavor. More filler than anything else. The fish and chips were better. The batter was light and crispy, not greasy, and the fish inside was moist and cooked well. The tartar sauce was solid and went well with the dish. Service was mediocre. we love to visit this beautiful restaurant. bringing our two dogs to the beach and letting them run freely until tired, followed by early evening dinner at Miramar beach restaurant is a perfect day out. My favorite dish is the Seafood Paella, or maybe their salmon special. We always seem to find the right choice for the occasion. they serve a cool Dad's IPA beer (not hazy thank you) and dogs are welcomed on the outside patio. Plenty of parking and situated right on the water front, it is in an excellent location. Our server today was Doug who was prompt and welcoming. Everybody seems to enjoy working there.
