Crab & Shrimp Louie, half portion. We shared

The atmosphere was festive on the final day of World Cup. Multiple television screens and loud cheers from the customers. In between cheers the calming pianist played classic tunes. The seafood chowder, shrimp and crab Louie, and bread were all delicious. My Spicy Margarita was just right. And last but not least we watched the waves come in from our table. A great experience indeed.

Came here for a great view and their Thursday night dinner special. From 4-6pm you get a prefix dinner for $32. Tonight's special was lobster bisque, lobster tail, steak, rice pilaf, fresh veggies and strawberry ice cream. My wife had the Sole $30. Everything was good but nothing was great. The Thursday night dinner special is a great deal though.

Joined friends in HMB for a bike ride and we decided to stop here for lunch. We sat outside, which can get chilly, but there were heaters and glass windows keeping us nice and cozy. Naomi provided excellent service. She was attentive, funny and helped us narrow down our options. As for the food, we all enjoyed what we ordered. My chowder was thick and tasty, perfect for HMB. The complementary bread and butter they provide went really well with my chowder. Since it was an exercise day I also enjoyed a chocolate fondant. It was rich and yummy. Appreciated Naomi bringing extra forks so I could share it.

This is our favorite restaurant along the water in Half Moon Bay/Miramar! The casual ambiance makes it feel comfortable and inviting. They have a lovely patio with views of the Pacific Ocean! It's also dog friendly. They have umbrellas and heat lamps if needed. We were seated immediately and our order was taken promptly. All the service staff was kind and took good care of us. To drink, we had lattes. They can make any coffee drink and they are served in fancy glasses. It's good coffee too! The also have complimentary lemon water. The food here is FANTASTIC! Make sure to try the baby artichoke cakes as an appetizer. They have great texture and flavor and are vegetarian! For entrees, we had the calamari steak with pasta and the crab melt with fries. The calamari steak had a crunchy, light coating that perfectly complimented the calamari steak, which was cooked well--not chewy at all. It comes with a generous portion of pasta as well. The crab melt is flavorful and well balanced with avocado, tomato, and a thin layer of cheese. The bread is exactly right--buttered sourdough. The French fries are fried to perfection and are a great side to the melt. If you're looking for a restaurant with ocean views, good coffee, and fresh seafood entrees, make sure to check out The Miramar Beach Restaurant!

This is a nice place for beach side dining. There's an outdoor area with heat lamps, and there are great views inside too. The service was good, and the food is decent. One thing missing from their menu is lobster roll, which I thought was a staple at all Half Moon Bay restaurants. What we ordered: + Fish & Chips - this was our favorite of what we ordered. The fish was light and the batter was crispy. The fries were delicious too. + Mahi Mahi fish tacos - these were not bad, but a bit too saucy. There's salsa and some other sauce, and then the slaw had a lot of vinegar. So the whole thing kinda fell apart. However, the fish was good. + Clam chowder - pretty good... I prefer mine not as thick and salty, but it had good clam flavor. + Bread basket (complimentary but worth a mention) - crusty bread with a soft center was so good.

Perfect ambiance, very good service and food. The food was delicious. The fish was fantastic. The beers and cocktails were also amazing. Overall, the atmosphere was very charming, calm, and peaceful. The view from the restaurant added another layer of beauty. In short, it's a magnificent restaurant, and I highly recommend you visit.

We were happy to get seated right away on Valentine's Day, but I think we figured out why there wasn't a wait. The service was okay until we were randomly given a "Birthday Ice Cream with Candle," which turned out to be a $3 charge we didn't ask for. Food-wise: Chilled Oysters: 3/5 Grilled Oysters: 3/5 Crab Melt: 3/5 Clam Chowder: 2/5 Seafood Paella: 1/5 Low ratings were really due to pricing. The prices felt a bit high for the quality, it definitely feels like you're paying for the view more than the food.

This oceanfront spot on Miramar Beach is a semi-hidden gem that feels like stumbling onto a little slice of coastal magic. With waves crashing just steps away and a sunset view that looks like it was painted just for you on clear evenings, the atmosphere alone is worth the visit. They don't take reservations, and happy hour pricing is only honored at the bar apparently, but sitting at the bar ended up being one of the best parts of the evening. The bartender was a genuinely kind gentleman who made the experience feel personal and unhurried. There's also a great selection of beers on tap, perfect for settling in and watching the sky turn gold and cheering with strangers while watching football. Our table was put together fast. The food was beautifully presented, with rich flavors and meats that were incredibly tender. Most of the appetizers aren't really designed for large groups. They are better suited for sharing on a date night or with a smaller party (5 or less) but everything we tried was thoughtfully crafted and delicious. We did run into a small challenge with allergy accommodations, but the staff worked through it and made sure everything was safe and enjoyable in the end. Creme brule could have just a bit longer crisping. So mouthwatering though! Between the warm service, standout dishes, and unbeatable views, this place captures everything wonderful about Miramar Beach dining. A breezy, romantic spot well worth seeking out.

We have eaten at Miramar Beach Restaurant quite a few times, but this is my first review. We had a great group lunch for 59 people. Also nice that there is a parking lot for parking. I had the Linguine with Clams and Shrimps which the 4 star is my rating. The dish was very tasty and garlicky. Lots of clams and 3 shrimps with slice of garlic bread. Reviews from those I sat with were mixed for their dish. The Salmon Bake was dry. The Roasted Turkey was too salty to eat and my friend said she could only eat the side dishes on the turkey plate and left the turkey untouched. The Grilled Flat Iron Steak received pretty good reviews from people that ordered it. We also started with appetizers of Deep Fried Calamari and Garlic Cheese Bread; both were excellent. Our meal also included Caesar Salad served family style and dessert was Apple Pie Ala Mode. The service for our large party was excellent! We had a table near the window so it was a magnificent view of the ocean coast.

3.5 stars rounding up. I admit I would never have come here if we weren't staying at an Airbnb an easy walk away. This place, and the surrounding neighborhood, seem like a little oasis / eddy stuck in their own time and place. This is the kind of place that when I was a young lad I would have considered this super fancy! Dark wood paneling, a piano player, a classic menu, ahhhh. As an old geezer I appreciate the "classic" vibe :) The food here was solid classic as well, we split a Caesar salad, my partner got linguini with seafood, and I got crab ravioli, and we also splurged on a bottle of Prosecco, which would have impressed the younger me. And then bread pudding for dessert. The classics, all done pretty well, and of course with a great view of the shore.

After my lemon drop, which was very tasty, we tried fish tacos, plus a cheese burger and clams. We all found our lunches delicious. We are visiting my sister who lives in San Carlos, and has for more than 40 yrs. She often visits you & your cuisine for certain occasions or just any time they feel like it. It's always great to see the ocean, waves coming in or out and just breathing fresh air, we were raised in San Mateo & went to Half Moon Bay quite often through high school, etc. Thank you for the delightful lunch & atmosphere and sharing your view with people who appreciate it.

We went for bunch today and it was amazing! There were four of us . I had the fish and chips , we also hit the crab Louie , crab melt and huevos rancheros. We even added a salad with blacken prawns to share. Everything was scrumptious! Crispy yet light batter on my fish. Pawns were perfectly cooked. A healthy portion of crab on the salad , perfectly cooked eggs. I also enjoyed my cucumber margarita!!

Miramar Beach Restaurant Reviews in Other Languages

Ask the Community - Miramar Beach Restaurant

How long is the waiting time usually during weekends? We are planning to come this weekend around 3 pm.

It seriously varies. I've walked in and sat down and I've showed up and waited anywhere from 15 to 45 minutes. Call and reserve a table. Hopefully they are taking reservations.

Do they have indoor seating today and so I need to make a reservation?

Yes Marty, we do have indoor dining, however we are not accepting reservations at this time. It is first come, first served. Our hours are Monday-Friday 12-8pm. Saturday & Sunday 11am-8pm.

    Is there a private room?

    Nope

I just called and asked if there were bottomless mimosas on Saturday and the very nice lady told me yes. Is that so? All the reviews only talk about Sunday bottomless mimosas but just wanted to confirm they are available Saturday as well

As far as I know from my visits there, the bottomless mimosas are only available on their Sunday brunch menu.

I hear there is an outdoor area with heating. Can you sit at these areas after eating INSIDE or do you specifically have to reserve these spots?

I am sure they would move you outside as long as you were ordering something.

    Is the patio dog friendly?

Yes, the outdoor patio is dog friendly. Additionally, at dusk and in to the evening we've seen many people walking their dogs along the road between the restaurant and the ocean.

The dine-in line was a 2-hour wait when we arrived and had closed for the day by the time we left. In general, I'm not the type of person to wait for food no matter how good it is, and unfortunately I didn't think Barbara's Fishtrap was anything too special. My sister and I shared a mini fish-trap combo, Caesar salad, and a cup of soup-- we had almost 30% leftover. The variety of seafood in the combo is really nice! But I thought the breading was soggy and in general just really needed the sauce for a punch of flavor. The fried zucchini was by far the best thing we ate (it was seriously to-die for), which feels wrong for a seafood combo. :P Service was friendly and were trying their best to help everyone, but wow we could tell they were super overwhelmed. :( Would not come back but glad I tried it, especially with such a neighborhood hype around this place!

Curious about what the new/old place is like, our three-person family went there for a late breakfast today. Walking up to the front doors, the original inset stained glass remains. Walking in, the cool wood paneling and nautical decor remains in place with a couple of new touches. The fully appointed bar also remains, now with a more streamlined look with subtle lighting changes. We were greeted pleasantly and seated inside the dining room immediately; it was moderately busy and buzzing, not too loud. Our server was quick to our table, menu-knowledgeable and consistent in his attention to us. We had a Denver omelette, a couple of bennies and lemon ricotta pancakes to share. My omelette had particularly fresh and al fresca peppers and onions - wonderful. The lemon ricotta pancakes were sufficiently saturated and fluffy(hard to pull off)and came with fresh cream. The prices were at about the same level as the local competition, which pleasantly surprised us. It appears that the folks who did this breakfast/lunch reboot were shrewd in pricing their dishes. Jetty Wave, a drinks and appetizers adventure(which I heartily recommend as well for different reasons)in the northwestern part of Princeton, is not for the fiscally faint hearted. The only element that makes our experience short of a 5 is that we were not given a farewell when we left, though I was able to find our friendly server and thanked him. In all, the Joanne's legacy is intact - the old carved wood Ketch Joanne sign still hangs inside - literally and figuratively a homage to its legacy while bringing a new energy to this space. The New England-style clam chowder was rich, creamy, with just the right subtle smokiness and balanced seasoning--definitely lives up to Half Moon Bay's chowder reputation. For mains, the Dungeness crab sandwich was the star: generous lumps of sweet local crab, minimal sauce (just how I like it), on toasted sourdough with fries on the side. My partner went with the fish and chips, and the cod was crispy, flaky, and not greasy at all--classic done right. We decided to stop here today since we were back in the area. It was Thursday afternoon so not slammed but still busy at 2pm. Nice place with a nice view of the harbor area. They have indoor and outdoor seating. We had a beer and ordered their Nachos. Very nice plate of Nachos well prepared (layered nicely with Black Beans at the bottom that you can get at and add to your chips as needed. All the other food that we saw looked amazing and I overheard people having great comments about their dish. Our server was Caitlin and she was fantastic. Helpful and did not ignore her tables and did a great job of checking back in. We will bring going back there. If you are in the area you should stop by and visit this place.

Their ordering process needs to be overhauled . Yes, you can go to their website or third party apps to find pictures of their menu, but that's a hassle customers shouldn't have to adjust to. They have menus as you get close to the register, but it can be hard to decide in that short of time. Maybe place a menu outside, where the line forms, so people can take a pic and have enough time to make an informed decision. Food: 2/5 Wife had the brisket plate ($28) that came with toast and 2 sides (we got the mac&cheese and potato salad) - toast, might be brioche, was really dry. Imagine an airy Popeyes biscuit: 0/5 - Mac & cheese was super pepper forward. The cheese that they used didn't provide much flavor. 0.5/5 - Potato salad: had a strange taste. I thought it tasted like paint, but my wife disagreed. But she did agree there was an off putting taste to it. 0/5 - Brisket: Decent. Nothing mind blowing. 3.5/5 - Brisket sandwich ($18): Fair amount of chopped brisket. The brisket was not cold, but definitely not warm either. 3.5/5 Fries ($4): Amazing. Best thing here. Might be the best fries I've ever had. Really crispy, well seasoned, and perfect thickness. 5/5 They had 2 BBQ sauces. Both didn't really taste like anything. .75/5 Service: 3.5/5 Just your basic order at the counter, pick up your own food, bust your own table. The employees were pleasant and nice. Atmosphere: 2.5/5 Smoky (which is to be expected from a bbq joint), but luckily there's outside seating. Many of the tables were not cleaned off. They allowed a non service dog inside the restaurant for an extended period of time (if that kind of thing bothers you). Bathrooms were clean enough, just some standing water by the drain hole. Overall: 2.5/5 Definitely wouldn't wait to eat here. We gave it another try after being disappointed the first time at their old location. My wife and I have tried many BBQ spots in the Bay Area (Horn's before they got busted, Everett and Jones, Capelo's, Fikscue, Armadillo Willy's, etc). At the end of the day this is just my opinion. Everyone's taste buds are different. If you are around the area during off hours, maybe it's worth a try. Just wanted people to know what to expect.
