Ate here 2x during our Ritz overnight stay this weekend. First time - We were starving so after we checked in, we walked right over for a meal. We sat in the main dining room. The front part of the restaurant has a bar and high tops. Mainly golfers sat here and it was quite noisy. They also offer outdoor seating. Staff are friendly and service was great. The food was actually tasty. I got Hong Kong wings and elote. The hub got sliders, fries and clam chowder. Second time - the guys played golf and we met up. Sat in the back of the dining area and our waitress Jennifer was great. The guys enjoyed their French dips, burgers, salad and steak frites. I got the same as yesterday. read more

Was staying at the Ritz Carlton for the weekend. We opted for the Guest houses since we had our dog with us. Close by was Mullins that is not really part of the hotel, but on the hotel grounds. As a result, there was no reservations needed and the food prices were a bit cheaper. Wedge salad - 4/5: asked for it to be pre-chopped. Dressing was served on the side. Came with very crispy bacon on top. Very good salad. Ribeye Steak - 5/5: this actually blew my mind as I was not expecting the steak to be that good. Cooked a perfect medium rare with a perfect char and rendered fat. I chose the garlic herb butter which was good but not really needed. I was so impressed, I actually forgot to take a picture of it before I devoured it. Overall, this was one of my favorite restaurants on the hotel grounds. When you first walk in, it does feel like a sports bar, but not crowded. My only slight gripe, was that my steak was brought out before I finished my salad. Small but notable. This restaurant is right in Ritz Carlton's zone so you'd have to let the guy in the parking lot know you're heading here and they'll let you through. Got here around 11:30, and it was pretty empty but it got busy in about an hour. Service: 5/10. The waiters here are nice but they're definitely not attentive. We had to walk up to them to ask for a table-- the waitress told us anywhere so we sat outside and asked her to wipe the table because it was wet... she said sure and never came back. A different server almost spilled water on us, and we ended up having to walk up to them and ask for our check and boxes. Food: 8/10. Fish sliders- The fish was cooked perfectly-- melted in our mouth and so so soft. Clam chowder- A little bit too salty, very little clams, and too many pieces of bacon. It was delicious though! Fried chicken sandwich- Generous serving. Chicken was fried to perfection and very tender. Tuna salad- SO good! Pretty sure tuna was house-made as it was fluffy and fresh. Vegetables served with this were also fresh and cut up into bite sized pieces. Mullin's Frito Misto- Calamari, prawns, and French fries. Wasn't too greasy, thank god. I could tell they were freshly fried as they were crispy on the outside and soft on the outside. We really liked how the French fries were seasoned! All 5 dishes were shared among 4 adults, and we still had leftovers. We are staying in the Ritz Carlton and walked down to Mullens steakhouse for an early dinner. The place was almost deserted -that should've been our first clue. Our waitress was polite, but forgot my salad which didn't come out until my husband reminded her and then it was served alongside my entrée. I had the filet mignon and it was tough and hard to chew. (I actually just gave up and spit out what I was trying to chew.) My husband had the ribeye and he said it was OK. We both left more than half of our meals on the plate with no interest in taking it back to the room. The meals do not warrant the prices- the food was mediocre at best. They sat us at a table close to the kitchen and between the constant noise of employees talking TV on and background music there was nothing relaxing or nice about our meal. read more

UNBELIEVABLE! just finished a charity golf tournament and one of the players got a hole in one and when that happens they have to buy everyone a drink. While at the bar the guy that got the hole in one gave the bar tender his credit card and the manager suddenly says bar is closed. Please go out to the out side bar. Inside bar is closed. Almost 100 people inside. Everyone walked out and most were so disgusted they left. I own a bar and if this was my manager she would be fired! So sad as I love this golf course. As neighbors of Mullins we have been coming for the last (almost) 5 years, and over the last couple of months there has been a great shift. Before the food was good, but we were worried once they changed to a steakhouse it would be too much. I have to say we were completely wrong. Its fantastic now. Chef Roberto has done a great job with the new menu. Best potatoes (mashed OR baked) I have ever had. I crave them. Steaks are cooked to perfection (we recommend the filet). I also have to say that you can tell in the last almost year the way the restaurant is managed and the atmosphere has changed for the better. Brian has been a GREAT addition to the team. He is so friendly and always greets you with a smile. He remembers people, which is so nice. He always looks for a way to make the customer his main priority and it makes you want to come back over and over again. read more

8/10/19 Food here is much better than the Ocean Terrace and the prices are a tad better too. I get that you pay for the view at the OT, but at Mullins they live stream the same view you'd see from the OT. Or you can always walk off lunch with a stroll around the Ritz property, like we did. We ordered the Calamari to start. Their deep fryer must not have been hot enough because it was very greasy but the portion size and flavor was good. My blackened salmon sandwich and sweet potato fries were delicious. Perfect cook and portion for the $18 price. My husband got the club sandwich and taters. Our party of 2 over 70 year old seniors, one restaurant manager and chef and a 30 lb well behaved dog called this restaurant from Poplar Beach car park and asked if they could accommodate a party of 4 with a dog- on their patio- and were told there would be no problem. We then walked the 2.6 miles along the coastal path to Mullins and on arriving were told they would not allow a dog on their outside patio which was accessed totally along the side of the building, not requiring any interior access and was not fully fenced in. Staff were unfriendly and somewhat hostile. We know a poorly managed establishment when we see it. Needs a major improvement in staff communication and training. We were out for a walk and spotted this tavern. I'm an explorer and decided to check it out. We walked into to a cozy bar with fireplace lit, great bar area, and an outdoor patio with great views of the ocean. This is not connected to the Ritz so anyone can pop in. The bartender Cezar told us we could sit wherever we wanted and someone would be with us shortly. We picked a table recently occupied and a waitress quickly came over and cleared and cleaned the table for us. The food was delicious. We had fish tacos and a burger. I love a good burger!! Pickles crisp, tomatoes garden fresh perfect, a healthy slice of lettuce, red onion, all on a juicy burger! I'm getting hungry again just thinking about it! The cole slaw that came on top of the fish tacos was fresh and delicious. The view of the ocean was amazing from our table. An overall good experience. read more

This place is a hidden gem. It's by the golf pro shop, so not with the main part of the hotel. The food selection is wide and different from the more upscale entrées and bites at the main hotel. The price is far more affordable. What really set this place up for the five stars is the incredible Food, drinks and service. I ordered the Paloma, which is a real stand out with the fresh squeezed grapefruit juice. It's so refreshing and liked. The steak chili is hearty, robust, and One of the best chilies I've had at restaurants. The shrimp Louie is fresh and plentiful. The dressing is a nice tangy bite to it which makes it addicting. They also seem to have lots of different specials depending on day of the week. So check the restaurant out first before making reservations anywhere else if you are staying at the facility and may not want to venture into town for a mail. read more

My husband took me to the Ritz Carlton Half Moon Bay for my birthday weekend and we found Mullins Bar and Grill. The first night we ordered the Caesar Salad and Fish and Chips to share. We have had a lot of Caesar Salads over the years but I'm telling you this one was outstanding. The Fish and Chips were delicious and the perfect meal for us. Of course we also shared a bottle of Rombauer Chardonnay that made our meal extra special. Chef Roberto came around to check on us and we had to rave about that Caesar Salad! Folks, it's that good! He started to tell us about some ribs he had been smoking for a special occasion party and I had to confess that I was from Texas and a big rib girl and you know what he did? He brought us a plate with 4 ribs to taste with his own special sauce. I was a happy girl strolling back to the room! (I forgot to mention that the hotel will gladly take you to Mullins on a golf cart or SUV according to your needs). We were there for three nights and ate at Mullins for the second time our last night. This time we shared a bottle of Cakebread Chardonnay (my personal favorite), the Caesar Salad, Vegetarian Spring Rolls and the Tempura Shrimp. The Shrimp were so good I ordered another order! Just happened to do Friday prime rib special for $24.95. it came with vegetable and mashed potato we talked gravy call ma boneless prime rib that is cut thick and very tender, juicy. I was really surprised with the quality and you really get the best bang for your bucks! Kids meal cheeseburger was pretty good and fish and chips was just okay. After being rejected by the Ritz Carlton Pro Shop directly connected to Mullin's Bar & Grill, I decided to eat at Mullin's for lunch. I actually wanted to rent a golf cart not to play golf but to ride around the 36 holes of the golf course and look at the beautiful scenery of Ritz Carlton in Half Moon Bay. But I was quickly rejected, I think they thought I was going to pull a Thelma & Louise and fly off one of the sides of the cliffs and end up in the Pacific Ocean. Ok ok, it crossed my mind but everybody knows that I couldn't possibly get to a speed necessary to be worthy of getting any type air or hang time in a golf cart like the Ford Thunderbird in the movie. But on to my enjoyable lunch on Memorial Day. Mullin's is really a perfect Bar & Grill for a golfer after a round of golf or a guy like myself who just wants really good bar food and drinks. HDTV's in every room, nice bar area, outside dining area, and a cozy fire place with a couch. We went with the fire place in the middle of Mullin's. A simple menu of a couple different soups and salads. Quite a few appetizers to choose from. Sandwiches, angus burgers, skirt steak, and chicken entrees are availiable. All for a reasonable price. But what does a manly man like myself eat at a bar & grill? Finger food of course. I don't want to use no stinkin fork! So I ordered the Party Platter which is a combination of cheese quesadillas, angus sliders, and spicy buffalo wings. Along with a Blue Moon and Diet Coke. Usually when ordering a party platter, one of the items will fall flat and I'll usually make a mental note not to order the party platter next time cause of that one item but not at Mullin's. All three items were great especially the sliders that were cooked a perfect medium rare with cheddar cheese melted and put on soft toasted bread. My server Juan was friendly, attentive and helpful. His service sets Mullin's apart from a lot of bar & grills where service is poor or nonexistent. If you're in the mood for million dollar scenery, manly man food, and good service Mullin's is the spot. But don't expect to get a golf cart without playing golf.
