My Husband and I wanted to have breakfast somewhere in Half Moon Bay, we drove out and as were driving through Main Street, we saw Johnny's, clean and inviting from the outside. We were acknowledged immediately upon walk in and were seated. Johnny's is a beautiful little restaurant, the food was good and the little details make it more special,

They provide small jars or jelly spread super cute

We visited Johnny's since we stayed the night in Half Moon Bay and read this place was good. It was okay, drink wise not much to offer. They do have TWO menu's, breakfast and Brunch. We ourselves were not aware of this .I was looking forward to Breakfast options at 1230 ish. Of course we got there at 12 but had to wait for 20-30 mins. I got THE JUNIOR which was in the brunch menu. What I really was looking forward to ordering was the biscuits and gravy or brûlée French toast. My son got a kids waffle since they didn't serve the breakfast for kids during brunch. I also wanted to order the famous mimosa they have called DOLCE FAR NIENTE . But they only sell it BY the whole bottle, wish they did it individually just a glass of frozen orange juice sphere. Maybe one day I'll go back form the whole bottle . The ambience is more like a Diner in the 1950's it's cute.

From start to finish this place is a gem! Haley who was the hostess is just as charming and nice as she could be. Every single staff member was friendly and enthusiastic. The vibe was casual with good music playing at just the right volume, not to loud but just loud enough. After looking over all the menu items, so many sounded good but I settled on the smash burger after seeing it delivered to the next table. So glad I made this stop along main street!

Establishment, decor, and service were good but the food wasn't quite up my alley. Food: Old Town Scramble Presentation was nice but, despite the ingredients, the flavor was just weaker than I thought it'd be. I couldn't taste the chorizo and either they forgot the Serano salsa or it was cooked into the dish? The slices of pasilla pepper were the most impressionable flavor of the plate. I was also a bit underwhelmed by the serving size, but especially only having 6 potatoes on my plate. Despite this, the potatoes were pretty well-seasoned with herbs/spices. Service: Wait staff were friendly and ensured we were comfortable once we settled in. Couldn't ask any more of them! Ambiance: Old school diner in an even older downtown. Interior is reminiscent of any American diner in the 1960s - absolutely appreciate the character of the establishment! I recommend arriving ahead of time to find parking since DT HMB can be quite crowded. Overall, I could be swayed to visit again to try other items.

Food is pretty good but they were so insanely busy. We had to wait almost an hour when we got there at 9:30. Servers were super busy so it was really hard getting their attention, and even when we did, they seemed to be in a rush and weren't the most friendly. Cute brunch spot w good food decorated pretty but I would not go again. Parking is also not available so you need to find street parking but that's like anywhere in downtown half moon bay.

Stopped here before heading back home last weekend. We had our dog with us, so we asked for an outside table. Expected a long wait, but was told a table was available immediately. Restaurant had about 5 tables outside. Crab cake Benedict - 5/5: this was a perfect combination of a poached egg on top of a breaded crab cake over spinach on top of a cheddar biscuit. All covered in hollandaise sauce. The cheddar biscuit gave it a wonderful texture and flavor over a traditional English muffin. The crispy potato's were also very good as well. Definitely recommended. Brûlée French Toast - 5/5: wife orders French toast everywhere we go, but first time she saw this offered. A French toast with a crispy caramalized crème brûlée top. It was very decadent and my wife's favorite French toast she has ever had. Orange Juice - 5/5: great freshly squeezed orange juice. Overall, great spot for brunch. Highly recommended.

Johnny's is a cute little breakfast spot in half moon Bay. When you walk in it feels like you are stepping back in time to a 50s old school diner. Love that vibe. We were sat outside on an overcast day in Half Moon Bay. It was doing that thing it does in Bay Area weather where it is sprinkling outside, seemingly about to rain, but it really is just super cloudy. I was a little worried we might be a chilly, but it ended up being fine. The service was okay, nothing spectacular. But it fits with the type of place that it is. I asked for water with my coffee, and we never got it. When we got our food we asked for water again and the server was like "oh, you want refills." But we never got water in the first place. It wasn't until she brought ok the way we pitcher that she realized we had no water. Oh well. The service was otherwise totally fine. I went with the Tweety's Breakfast bowl, which was two poached eggs served over jasmine rice, with sautéed shitakke mushrooms, sautéed spinach, avocado, and roasted potatoes. It was so good. The poached eggs were perfectly cooked, as were the mushrooms. The roasted potatoes were crispy and buttery, and well seasoned. I left satisfied but feeling like I hadn't totally derailed my diet. My husband went with the croque madame, which was massive and very rich, with lots of cheese. Don't try to do a lot after eating this. He said it was very good, but he was just super full and very much needed a post-meal walk to digest. I'd give Johnnys a solid 3.5 stars. The food was very good, the environment is cool - I'd say it's definitely worth a visit.

We stopped by on a weekday for a late lunch. This place is happening! The decor is utterly delightful, with retro diner vibes. Despite it being a weekday, the staff is quite busy given the many customers. We stood for a few minutes by the small entrance, wondering what one had to do to get a seat; as none of the staff approached us, we ended up asking other customers who were waiting, and learned that we could just seat ourselves at the bar, or on an outdoors table. We grabbed a couple of seats at the bar, while the staff busily walked by us. We managed to get the attention of a staff member, and got ourselves a set of menus to order from. Meanwhile, two other customers who had been seated for some time at the bar still had menus in front of them, obviously trying to get the attention of waitstaff to place their order. The two of us shared a fish sandwich w/fries, and a shrimp louie salad. The fish sandwich was decent with a brioche bun, fried fish, and fries; all of it freshly made and tasty. The shrimp louie salad was OK with small shrimp, three sticks of asparagus, half an avocado, tomatoes, cucumber, and crispy lettuce.

Great food, great vibes, great service! We're a family of five and stopped by first thing Sunday morning. My fiancée and I live in town, and my parents and sister were visiting from Reno. There was a short wait, maybe 10-15 minutes, but it flew by. We took a quick walk to the visitor center and came back just in time for our table. The hostess was very friendly and welcoming! Our server, Pablo, was fantastic. He helped us with a few questions about the menu, and when my fiancée asked for his recommendation between the pancakes and the egg sandwich, he suggested the egg sandwich, so that's what she went with. When the food came out, they set a blueberry pancake in front of my sister, who had ordered the Minnie Mouse pancake. She looked a little confused, but then Pablo explained that he'd asked the kitchen to bring us an extra pancake to share, just because. Her Minnie Mouse pancake came right after, and the whole gesture was just so thoughtful and kind. Big thanks to Team Johnny and especially Pablo! We'll definitely be back.

This place just makes you happy. From the outside it is very inviting with their lovely branding and red accents. Inside it is a pop of personality! Blues, yellows, wall paper with character, fresh flowers and plants on every table. The menu is classic American but someone put care into the items. We ordered the chicken sandwich, onion rings & herbed greens. Both chicken sandwich and onion rings were fried to perfection. Unique batter. Herbed greens were interesting. I wasn't expecting what they were. They were purple greens and slightly bitter. Dressing was good. Service was quick and professional. Overall highly recommend!

Johnnys is an amazing breakfast spot in downtown half moon bay with ambiance, great service and delicious food. It has a vintage dinner feel and a bathroom with really cute wallpaper. The food itself is amazing- quality ingredients and delicious flavor. Staff was so nice. They had forgotten our waffle and then gave us one free of charge! I would highly recommend Johnny's for breakfast.

Super cute place. Yummy eggs benny. 30 minute wait on a Sunday morning. Some shops close by you can check out while you wait. Service was a bit slow and inconsistent. Could probably use more help at busy times. Booths are small. Our party of 4 was tight. Would try to come back at a less busy day/time.

Such a quaint restaurant! Love the vintage aesthetic vibes with colorful furniture, plants, and wallpaper. I had the Johnnys chilaquiles which were delicious - I especially loved the refried beans, sauce and crisp chips. My friends had the breakfast bowl which also looked really good. We shared the honey belgian waffles which was just the right amount of sweet and I loved that the syrup was warmed up. The bathroom decor is cute as well!

Everything was find at first and then they started seating people outside. The door was wide open to allow people to come and go. However, it was very cold outside and our table was near that door. We asked the staff to keep the door closed and they closed it most of the way, but blocked it open with a door stop. This still allowed a cold breeze to come right at our table. My wife's food got cold and she was feeling cold. The staff said that they could do nothing as the door automatically locks. The door was a standard push bar to open. These doors have a mechanism that can be used to unlock the door; however the staff either did not know how their door worked or were unwilling to even try to unlock it. So we were cold and ate cold food. The food itself was good. My wife enjoyed (until they got cold due to the wind) her Lumberjack pancakes with bananas and berries ($11.99) and a side of bacon ($5.99). I had a delicious side order of Linguica ($5.99) with a side of two eggs over easy ($4.99). They should really warn people before seating them by the back door on a cold day when they intend to use the outdoor tables.

Curious about what the new/old place is like, our three-person family went there for a late breakfast today. Walking up to the front doors, the original inset stained glass remains. Walking in, the cool wood paneling and nautical decor remains in place with a couple of new touches. The fully appointed bar also remains, now with a more streamlined look with subtle lighting changes. We were greeted pleasantly and seated inside the dining room immediately; it was moderately busy and buzzing, not too loud. Our server was quick to our table, menu-knowledgeable and consistent in his attention to us. We had a Denver omelette, a couple of bennies and lemon ricotta pancakes to share. My omelette had particularly fresh and al fresca peppers and onions - wonderful. The lemon ricotta pancakes were sufficiently saturated and fluffy(hard to pull off)and came with fresh cream. The prices were at about the same level as the local competition, which pleasantly surprised us. It appears that the folks who did this breakfast/lunch reboot were shrewd in pricing their dishes. Jetty Wave, a drinks and appetizers adventure(which I heartily recommend as well for different reasons)in the northwestern part of Princeton, is not for the fiscally faint hearted. The only element that makes our experience short of a 5 is that we were not given a farewell when we left, though I was able to find our friendly server and thanked him. In all, the Joanne's legacy is intact - the old carved wood Ketch Joanne sign still hangs inside - literally and figuratively a homage to its legacy while bringing a new energy to this space. Recommended.

We stopped by for lunch on a crisp day, and it completely captured that perfect coastal vibe--think fresh seafood, laid-back atmosphere, and killer views of the boats and water. We started with the calamari, which was hands-down some of the best I've ever had: tender, not rubbery at all, perfectly seasoned and fried, melting in your mouth. The New England-style clam chowder was rich, creamy, with just the right subtle smokiness and balanced seasoning--definitely lives up to Half Moon Bay's chowder reputation. For mains, the Dungeness crab sandwich was the star: generous lumps of sweet local crab, minimal sauce (just how I like it), on toasted sourdough with fries on the side. My partner went with the fish and chips, and the cod was crispy, flaky, and not greasy at all--classic done right. The outdoor patio with fire pits was cozy even in cooler weather, and our server was super friendly, attentive, and full of local recommendations. The place feels welcoming, whether you're a regular from the Coastside or just passing through after a beach walk or harbor stroll.
