The nearly 40 minute wait was well worth it once we were served our meals. The stack pancakes were thick but very fluffy. So delicious. We loved the fish and chips too. Very crunchy and fresh tasting. My Dutch Baby pancake had a very interesting flavor profile and I would order this again when I come back. Tried to make a phone order for takeout, but no answer after several attempts, which was unfortunate with a 45-minute wait on Mother's Day... at least that's what we were quoted after ordering and paying at the cafe counter. It actually took 30 minutes, and by that time some seats had opened up inside, so it worked out as we decided to dine in. There were plenty of picnic tables available in their outdoor patio as well, though it was sprinkling during the lunch hour this past Sunday. The eatery had a beautiful and inviting setting, with gorgeous flowers set up on the tables and window sills, adding a nice touch to this special holiday. Got the pesto chicken sandwich with a salad, and sausage egg and cheese wrap with garlic fries instead of potato hash. These dishes were large in size. The sandwich had layers of deli chicken slices and a unique pesto-sun dried tomato spread, with a fresh and colorful salad on the side. The breakfast burrito was fat and stuffed with gooey melted cheese, scrambled eggs and mild sausage with just a hint of spice, and the pile of fries was thin-cut and loaded with minced garlic. Everything was delish! I do wish they were serving their regular menu on this day instead of a special Mother's Day brunch menu, as some favorites were unavailable. Aspiring pilot so I came here to watch the planes take off and land. Probably the worse day I came, when it was foggy so I only saw one doing a touch and go. But the food made it worth it. The avocado toast was soooo good. The avocado was perfect and everything was seasoned to perfection. I cannot praise this breakfast food more. I don't even like breakfast that much. But this was amazing. I got the kids pancakes for my baby and she loved them. She doesn't eat pancakes at home... the orange juice was fresh squeezed and the iced latte was delicious. I love a good airport cafe. No not at LAX or SFO. I am talking about the charming little general aviation airports that are scattered around the state. I grew up in a town with one of these diners and one of these airports. The menu is limited but what they have is really good. My smoked salmon toast was delicious. The coffee was excellent and the matcha (if you like that) looked very tasty. Loads of Parking. It was busy or Sunday morning. You have a great view of the runway. Pretty average pricing for bay area ($18-$25pp). I got their breakfast burrito and shakshuka. Their bacon was thiiiiiick, and I loved it. It was served with potatoes and salsa, crisp and clean. Only complaint is I wish the tortilla was a bit more crisp. Shakshuka was okay, a bit sweeter that I am used to but I believe that's due to the corn they put in. I came to Pilot Light for a Sunday brunch around 9:45, they were already quite busy! Back in the day, it used to table service dining. Now there is a counter you order at, and you are given a pager and pick where you would like to sit. They do have outdoor seating right next to the airport, this was pretty cool. We saw two pilots leave out the back gate and head to their planes and prepare for take off. They are also pet friendly, always a plus. I had the huevos rancheros nachos, they were really good! It came with 2 eggs, and I added the chorizo. My friends both ordered the eggs Benedict, one with salmon and one with bacon and avocado. All our plates were large portions, and their potatoes were delicious! So crispy, but needed salt but we grabbed shakers for the table. I also asked for a michelada and although they don't sell them, they accommodated making one on the whim which was awesome. It tasted great too, I had asked them to make it with the lager they have to offer. Overall, next time I'm in town for a hometown tour I'll def check them out again! read more

It was at the end of the Airport and also had a gate for pilots of small planes to park and enter through a Security Gate. Really cool. Had a really nice, relaxing lunch w my 16 yr old today. He's got the day off for school Student-Parent-Teacher Evals. Nice drive down the coast from Pacifica, just before the El Granada turnoff, overlooking the HMB Airport. Only go here a few times a year but you can't help but love it. Everything is handmade, fresh, tasty. I've been craving fish and chips, my kid loves fish tacos. So we both got essentially the same thing, just gussied up differently. And man I'm glad I saved my craving for a jaunt south of Devil's Slide instead of choking down a plate from Camelot's. I'll say no more about that. The fish was fresh, moist, very tasty, and nicely crisped but tender breading. No panko or breadcrumbs or greasy exterior. Two good, generous long thick filets. My kids 3 tacos had smaller pieces but same non-greasy breading, slaw, fresh sliced avocado and crispy chips. Mine came with fries. Not shoestring, but thinner style. Fresh because I saw him hefting the 50# sack and cutting them. I got tartar sauce and a nice warmed liquid salsa for each of us. Cholula, ketchup and every other sauce you could want is on the table. Take away boxes, napkins, iced water are all available in a little self serve area. Order at the counter and food is brought to your table. I've had plenty of other options from their small, focused menu: Dutch Baby Pancake, Classic Reuben, $100 Cheeseburger, Tacos, etc. Breakfast & lunch. Friendly, accommodating manager and staff, nicely laid out dining area, clean restrooms, relaxing view of small aircraft traffic. Shakshuka was the most watery version I've ever had. It honestly could've just been salsa, but I think salsa might be thicker. The hot chocolate wasn't hot, but the whipped cream was good. Inside has a lot of seating, and the back patio is large for nice weather and dogs to join. I ordered the eggs Benedict and the migas con chorizo. It took a while for the food to come out, probably close to 25-30 minutes for some reason. BUT the quality and taste of the dishes were pretty worth it! Ingredients were fresh. It overlooks a small airport and is a unique restaurant property on an airplane runway on the coast with both indoor and outdoor seating. Dogs are welcome! I had a vanilla latte with oat milk, which came in a personalized pilot light mug Tumblr. We also got the homemade orange juice which came in the same Tumblr. The BLTA and fries were delicious, as was the lighter fruit parfait with granola. Unfortunately, the huevos rancheros itself were pretty disappointing as there was no real flavor. (No salsa or seasoning) The chips on this meal were were unsalted so, we asked for a side of salsa to be able to enjoy it. Once I added, some green salsa tasted a whole lot better unfortunately it came out very bland prior. Overall, I think this is a cute casual but fun breakfast spot with a lot of great options in the menu. I'd love to return and try something else next time! read more

Stumbled onto this place after a nice morning hike/workout out on the coast. Very road-stand feel as I've probably drove past it many times but never knew what was here. It is in a small building that looks kinda temporary to serve this tiny airport. Open only breakfast and lunch hours, order at the counter and things will get brought out to your table. Workers were nice but not really enthused. Coffee ($4/4*) Pretty darn strong as it kept me buzzzzed for hours. Pretty dark and strong roast too, this ain't your average diner quality coffee. And its a free pour, so you can knock yourself out, or get a to-go cup and get one for the road, which I graciously obliged in. They also have the strangest coffee mug/vessel for in-house sipping. It is stainless steel in the interior but a rubberized exterior which had their branding on it. So the rubber part made it easy to hold and the steel kept that coffee hot for a long time. And I think the thing can hold almost a pint, which I think prolonged my caffeine high. Eggs and Sausage ala carte ($10/3.5*) The eggs were perfect, cooked to my over easy request, not greasy with vibrant yolks. They use better eggs here than most other places. But I wasn't digging their breakfast sausage links. It almost seemed like it was more like chicken than pork as it was leaner than most. And when I usually eat sausage or bacon for morning outs, I'm not trying to cut calories or be healthy. Just give me a basic juicy old school pork product. I dipped my sausage pieces into the runny yolks to get more richness out of them. Mini Order Pancakes with added Fresh Berries ($8 + $4/4*) So their small order is 2 pancakes, and it was more than enough. There'd be no way I'd ever be able to knock down a large. Their pancakes are decent sized like at least 7-8 inches in diameter. Nice tender batter with good flavor. No butter served with which I thought was strange, but with just a touch of syrup, made for an above average pancake outing. Berries totally a nice touch being quite fresh and vibrant. So it wasn't a sweet compote or anything, straight up cold fresh strawberry, blackberry and blueberry. Each one has its own unique flavor and texture and went well with the maple syrup. Nice find and would most certainly hit them up again. Makes the coastal highway 1 trip that much more unique and special. read more
