Filet of Petrale Sole 5/5 - $35.95
David U.

AMBIANCE: Truly one of the most romantic spots on the Pacific Coast to have a sunset dinner if the presence of 'Karl the Fog' doesn't ruin it, but it did. Typical June- August. The seating arrangements are spectacular with booths facing the ocean as well as the upper level tables and bar area. They had a wonderful solo jazz pianist, Lee Allen, who set the background mood with romantic jazz classics. Our first impression of the entrance of the restaurant was that they could use an upgrade on the old carpet, however, the inside is very impressive and one of the most comfortable settings to view the beautiful ocean. I enjoyed watching the visitors getting splashed by the unexpecting high waves at the seawall. FOOD: CLAM CHOWDER CUP $9.95 = 5/5 FILET OF PETRALE SOLE $35.95 = 5/5 SALMON PINWHEEL $38.95 = 5/5 CHILLED CRAB LEGS $29.95 =4/5 COCONUT PRAWN APPETIZER $18.95 = 5/5 BRAISED POT ROAST $32.09 =5/5 MOLTEN CHOCOLATE BIRTHDAY CAKE $0.00 5/5 SERVICE: Accommodating but not friendly, could use a little personality. Had to ask for water refills and never asked how the meals were.

Come here for the beautiful ocean views! Giant windows overlooking the Pacifica coast will make you feel like you're right there in the crashing surf. The food here is pretty good too. The ahi tuna poke was solid as was the sole entree. The steak fillet was unfortunately a bit disappointing. The meat was a bit stringy and not a great cut. However, the accompanying duck fat fries were delicious. Service was polite and courteous.

Relative 4 stars. Better value and view than Nick's. You're coming for the view, which is 5 stars. You can have the same view outside but it's not the same as chilling over lunch and waves from the comfort of being indoors. The food is 3.5 stars relative to other seaside tourist traps, for decent value. The service is 3 stars, good luck hunting down your server. The clam chowder was pretty loaded with seafood and not too viscous (I.e. not too thick with cream). The crab cakes weren't too thick or too floury. Pleasantly surprised on the depth of flavor on seafood pasta too. Would skip prawn cocktail and raw oysters. Oysters oddly had no flavor. Not sweet not briney etc.

I have been told that they now charge $$$ for a reservation, depending on the day/hour and table location. This will limit my possible return. The food is still good, and the prices have increased (like many other restaurants).

The view is great, and the food is ok. The live music is a major plus and really adds to the overall atmosphere. I would definitely recommend reserving an ocean-view table in advance. The service was unaccommodating at first, but the experience improved as the visit went on. My constructive feedback is that the decor could significantly use refreshing. For a place with such a beautiful view and strong overall theme, the interior feels outdated and does not fully match the potential of the setting.

David was our server. He was attentive at the very beginning--took our order and then disappeared. Samuel, however, completely turned our experience around. He offered to take our photo, chatted with us, made us laugh, and genuinely made us feel welcome. Because of him, we truly enjoyed our beautiful ocean view. What was uncomfortable, though, was noticing that a white couple seated next to us received significantly more attention from multiple staff members throughout the meal. It honestly felt discriminatory, and that really impacted the overall experience. As for the food, it was unfortunately very salty. We ordered the crab cakes, calamari, clam chowder, steak and lobster tail, and the steak and lobster mac and cheese. The clam chowder was hands down the best dish--comforting and well done. It was my birthday, and while the dinner itself was underwhelming, I truly appreciated the little cake they brought out for me. But the real standout? The mango crème brûlée. OH. MY. GOSH. Absolute heaven. I could easily eat five of those. Overall, this was a disappointing experience, especially given the expectations. I'm giving three stars solely because Samuel made it special. Thank you, Sam--you were amazing and the bright spot of our night.

Been meaning to come home for the longest time. Came for the view, stayed for the must get smores Food: I got the lobster that came with butter and it was chewy and tasty and cooked just right. My favorite highlight of the night was the smores and it came with a little grill where u can roast your marshmallows at the table. Ambience: we got a table facing the ocean and it was a beautiful view. We also got to people watch the people by the pier haha Service: nice workers, only notable thing was my friend asked for ice tea and the server confidently gave him Coca Cola but fixed it the next time haha

I think ambiance is top notch here, the sunset and also the piano = perfect. Food was fantastic too, my steak was just right! The appetizer, crab cakes is a must!! The burrata was just right. They are very attentive, we were there for an anniversary and they gave us a plate of dessert. Will come again to celebrate other occasions.

Came to celebrate my wife's Birthday! Breathtaking view outside and inside as well. Service was excellent, and the food was phenomenal! Shared a few things and all of it was delicious, ended with dessert ! Beautiful spot for a special occasion or just a date night out!

Celebrated Mother's Day at Moonraker and the highlight of the experience was definitely the ambiance and breathtaking ocean view. The scenery alone makes the wait for the food enjoyable and relaxing. We started with the clam chowder and calamari for appetizers. The calamari was a bit small for the price, but the chowder was enjoyable. For our entrees, we ordered the Pappardelle Bolognese, Grilled Salmon Pinwheel, Dungeness Crab Cioppino, and Mussels-Frites. The dishes were decent overall, though nothing particularly stood out for us. Unfortunately, the Mussels-Frites, listed as one of the Chef's Specialties was overly salty, which was a bit disappointing since we had high expectations for it. Overall, it seems like many people come here mainly for the beautiful coastal view and relaxing atmosphere rather than the food itself. As for us, it was nice to experience once, but probably not a spot we'd return to.

Views and sunset.

Delicious and breathtaking view. Gluten free options for my girl. Mocktails that were made like cocktails. Excellent service from the moment we walked in the door. Def a date night vibe.

You absolutely must stop at this gorgeous spot. Delicious food, great views, WARMTH, the best waitress I have come across in long time & relaxation. We got the calamari. I got the burger special with bacon cheese & crispy onions added. My boyfriend got like a jambalaya or something like it. My burger was phenomenal. The absolute best views in the place make you feel like you are at the beach, only warm. I craved seeing someone get hit by a wave over the seawall. Our waitress was so incredibly personable & funny I wanted to take her with us when we left. Not that I wanted to leave, I could be there all day just watching the water!

We went here to celebrate our anniversary, and the place was absolutely amazing! Next time, we'll definitely reserve ahead of time so we can choose a table with the best ocean view. The food was good overall -- delicious, but nothing particularly extraordinary. The only thing we didn't enjoy was the mixed vegetables, which were soggy and had an overpowering Italian herb flavor. On the other hand, the wasabi marinara served with the oysters was surprisingly delicious. I never would've thought wasabi and oysters would pair so well together! Overall, we had a great experience and will definitely come back again, this time with the whole family.

Great service, perfect view. Definitely worth the stop

They weren't sure where to go, so I quickly yelped bars and this one popped. It wasn't super busy, so we easily grabbed a table. Kinda divey, kinda neighborhoody, and they played good music. Very much my group's style with the old school r&b and hip hop. Drink prices above were reasonable. I got one round and my friend got the other one. Each round averaged 3.5 drinks and about $41.50 each. $52 each with tip. Nice place to hit up if you're it the neighborhood and looking for a night cap of sorts. Music was a little loud, so talking can be a challenge, but we had a good time. REVIEW #3826

I walked in to a thumping beat on a Saturday evening, just killing time, really. The music was unnecessary, or at least unnecessarily loud. It was a small crowd that had nothing better to do on Valentine's night. The bartender and I had to lean towards each other to get my order right. I just had a dirty vodka martini, competently made. Nonfood available, but there was a box of pretzel snacks sitting in the bar, which she handed me. More brightly lit than an ordinary dive bar, but so much more could be done with it.

Also, our server was great, kept on checking on us, giving us suggestions, and entertaining us with some magic tricks. From our server's recommendations, we ended up getting the Lapu Lapu, Mochiko Chicken Loco Moco, Kamehameha BBQ Chicken, Sisig Fried Rice, and Poke Nachos, Ubemisu, and Ube Bars. The Lapu Lapu is a sweet and refreshing drink, definitely something you will like if you want something sweet instead of strong. The Mochiko Chicken Loco Moco was really good. You get the taste of Beef Loco Moco in chicken form. The Chicken also added more of a crunchy texture from the crispy skin while having very moist meat. The Kamehameha BBQ Chicken was also tasty, with the moist meat. The Sisig Fried Rice was really good, being moist and had plenty of Sisig. The Poke Nachos had a decent amount of Poke and Avacado, and had a nice crunch with the Wanton Chips. The Ubemisu was a crowd favorite. I thought it was not going to taste like Ube because of the light color of the Cream, but I was glad to be wrong. It was very moist and thankfully had good Ube flavor. The Ube Bars were not bad. Also, could taste the Ube, but was more dense and just found the Ubemisu better. Overall, great food and service. Definitely would come back here again to try more delicious treats.

The greeters were pleasant, with seating also instant, with some view of the Pacific Ocean. We were a party of three (my wife, her cousin, and I). We all ordered the open-faced crab sandwich with clam chowder. All items were totally on point (well prepared, delicious, and on point). The oysters on the half shell were tasty too. No cocktails; we opted for soft drinks. The service was attentive, and we lacked for nothing. My only observation was the bill came to over $320 with tip for three sandwiches (I have eaten at higher-end places many times, but fine dining has gotten a bit pricey). With rights to stroll on the beach after the meal if you wish, part of what you get is the experience. Still, I recommend Nick's for a very special meal with folks you care about. We waked into a large dark wood ala refurbished 1970s interior restaurant with plenty of half circle booths, large tables for groups and bar and dace floor that seems to be available for live music. We came on what looked like and felt like a locals regular night full of families and well dressed seniors. I hate being seated by a busser station or kitchen listening to the noise or the staff thinking they can talk crap about customers because they are stacking dishes or running a credit card but that is exactly what happened. Being hangery (hungry-angry) makes us change our dining standards. This being said we had to listen to the young staff's complaining. My partner ordered and received a large seafood salad and I ordered fish and chips. My food tasted like a large refrigerator Orida fish patty that was fried and large slices of potatoes that came out of the same oil. Being from the San Francisco bay area I compare all my sea food to that and have to say that I was greatly disappointed with the lack of taste even though I see that it was "handmade beer batter" dish. Unfortunately, I dont have too many positive things to say about this place except it is a good place to cure hugry.
