Nice portions, up to par food and service. Come here just for the crab toast and your trip will be worth it. Loads of crab, tender bread. Could use a dipping sauce but it doesn't need one, so much flavor. The other dishes such as the louis salad, and pasta were nice. The popcorn shrimp can be skipped. The tartar sauce was defnitely from Kraft, it didn't taste fresh but it didn't miss any marks. You'll like it. They have Deathbed Tacos!!! It is pretty hard for me to go anywhere except Flying Fish when I'm in HMB. Their scallop tacos are a deathbed meal for me, and I love their ahi poke. The restaurant itself is big, and the sections are spread out so you can get forgotten about at times, which I honestly prefer. I understand why other divas in the reviews may not be able to hang with the laid-back service style. Flying Fish Grill has good seafood at reasonable prices. We had a prawn salad and a 4 taco plate. You get to choose from cod, salmon, shrimp or scallop tacos! I had two scallop, one salmon and one cod. The salmon was too dry but the cod and scallop tacos were great. The rice and beans didn't look like much but they were actually very tasty. I tried to eat here a while ago. Ordered a burger and fries, thinking that was safe. The burger was obviously a frozen patty, still partly frozen, but brownish gray. The decor is awful, dated and dirty. The non-edible burger was $17.00. I left the waitress (who I know from around town) a $20 and left it all untouched - I spit out the burger. I am NOT a picky burger eater, so this was an epic, school lunch in the 80s worthy burger approximation that no one should attempt to eat. If you want to cut your carbs this is a good place to go because they do not offer you a basket of bread and the amount of pasta they give you in the Jeaux Special is so little that would not be enough to even fed a kid. Unfortunately, this place is going downhill. I would skip happy hour since the posted times and prices were not honored during our visit. On my last trip, a patron at the bar left without paying his tab. He was not part of our party and we had no interaction with him. I was really looking forward to dining here. The seafood Pasta was lackluster. The presentation was bad, all the seafood was hidden, I had pulled it to the top for the photo. It had watery bland white sauce and they added caramelized onions?! Which was not listed on the menu nor did compliment the dish. Seafood itself was good. The service here was quite slow. It took a while to get seated and to catch the attention of a waiter to place our order, but that seemed to be due to being understaffed rather than poor service. So, it's not ideal if you're in a hurry or on the go. We ordered the shrimp carbonara and the mahi mahi taco plate with rice and beans. The taco plate was a good value at $20 - filling, though a little on the bland side. The carbonara, on the other hand, was excellent - super creamy and delicious, and I'd definitely order it again. Was looking for lunch recommendations from ChatGPT and this restaurant came up on top for its seafood tacos and fish & chips (apparently rated #9 best in America by The Daily Meal). We started with the clam chowder, which was decent. Then moved onto crab melt sandwich was perfectly crisp, but didn't wow us. We opted for 3 tacos solo ($7.50 each) to save $3 since we didn't need the extra rice, beans, fries, or salad: Cod taco - uses the same fish as the fish & chips, so it felt redundant. Mahi Mahi taco - two generous pieces of grilled fish with mango salsa; tasty but not memorable. Coconut shrimp taco - two shrimp with mango salsa; nicely crisp but could have used a squeeze of lemon for extra zing. Finally, the fish & chips were indeed the highlight but the portion was tiny, leaving us a little underwhelmed. Such a cute spot right off the 92 before you hit the main road of half moon bay. The staff was attentive, sweet and courteous. They gave off mom & pop vibes which was so charming and refreshing! The food was delicious. Is it weird that the coleslaw was absolutely amazing?! It had pineapple and was delicious. All the food was fresh, not oily or soggy. Had lunch @ Flying Fish & Grill on a recent daycation. We got there at 11:30 and were the only diners in the restaurant. Service was good, though I would have thought they'd be more attentive since the place was literally empty except for us (party of 2). I had the fish sandwich; my husband got the clam chowder bowl. I'd say his chowder was marginally better than the fish sandwich, but both were tasty. I appreciate that the ciabatti roll was toasted, but felt it could have done with more carmelized onions (I think there were 6 small pieces). I got the tartar sauce on the side, but my fish and bread still fell apart quickly and I ended up eating the pieces with a fork. The tartar sauce was yummy; they used copious amounts of dill and there was no pickle relish in evidence. I don't normally eat cole slaw, but I'm not a thick french fry girl, so it seemed like the better option. It was surprisingly delicious; I loved the addition of dried cranberries. I wish the portions were a little bit larger, but other than that, it's a very satisfying plate of food. I also tried the coleslaw, which was very good. Just the right amount of slaw crispness, and tang, without being too sweet. The jalapeño margarita was also very good. It had a little bit of a bite to it, but just enough to make it enjoyable and refreshing. Service was good. Not the best I've had, but it did the job to warm me up and I have no real complaints. You can get it in a bread bowl but I went with a normal bowl since we were already getting bread in a different form. The serving sizes felt very plentiful and big for the price paid. What a find! Delicious shrimp and crab louie salad and crab sandwich. My honey and I shared and loved them both. I'm a stickler for a very fresh coleslaw and this coleslaw was made in house and had some pineapples and either dried cherries or dried cranberries in it and was so fresh and delicious. As a side note, we didn't like the deep fried crab cakes because we don't like deep fried, but we appreciate other people might like deep fried. We will be back! read more

Came here last Saturday after a hike in Pacifica to try out a For starters, we started with the crabby cheesy garlic bread, which was easily the star of the show. Good, clean crab, fresh bread and a good garlic flavor. The portion size, I could easily eat an order on my own. But a good share for 2 people. We also got a a shrimp cocktail for the table.
