After eight years of my partner living in Pacifica, we finally made our first visit! I'd seen this place pop up several times on social media and recommendation lists, so we figured it was time to see what we'd been missing. First off, the view is incredible. We were lucky enough to sit facing the water, and having a live piano player during our visit made the whole experience even better. The atmosphere alone makes this place worth checking out. We ordered the peach burrata, corn bisque, Oysters Rockefeller, steak frites, and mango crème brûlée. The peach burrata and corn bisque were great, and the steak was cooked and prepared really well. I normally don't use sauce on my steaks, but this one felt like it was missing a little something. I would've loved a different sauce or accompaniment to bring everything together. The fries, however, were phenomenal, and the mango crème brûlée was a great way to finish the meal. The Oysters Rockefeller were probably the only real disappointment. They weren't bad, but we've definitely had better elsewhere, so they didn't quite live up to the rest of the meal. For drinks, we started with a dirty martini and the house Manhattan, then asked our server, Daniel, for a recommendation. He suggested the Old Fashioned, and that ended up being the winner of the night! We liked it enough to order a few more. Daniel was attentive, friendly, and provided great service throughout the evening. Between the oceanfront view, live piano, cocktails, food, and service, we had a really enjoyable first experience. It may have taken us eight years to finally stop in, but I'm glad we did. We'll definitely be back, especially for that Old Fashioned, those fries, and the view!
WOW... I made a huge mistake!! I ordered delivery for dinner but went for a walk and figured after seeing this gorgeous view from outside I'd go in for just a beer at the bar. I totally should have skipped delivery and eaten a full meal here!! A beer turned into a cup of chowder which was extraordinary and it's the first time I've ever had my chowder served with a real clam shell inside lol. Might be a minor thing but it made the chowder so much more enjoyable and a definite sign of the freshness. I need to come back for a proper meal but the live piano, elevated service and incredible smells won me over as this place is a gem!
Was recommended by a friend and decided to reserve a spot for my birthday. We booked the pearl table for an extra $30. Ambiance: as soon as you enter the restaurant you are greeted with the view of the ocean. There's also a live pianist. Service: we were greeted right away and they kept refilling our waters. They have great time management and occasionally checked in on us from time to time. Food: There's complimentary bread and butter. Our first loaf came out warm. The other times we refilled it was cold. -Poke nachos 5/5: bit on the sweet side but it was delicious -Cup of clam chowder 5/5: good flavor and had a lot of yummy seafood pieces in it -Main entrees: the New York steak for both dishes were well seasoned, tender, cooked to perfection! The lobster tail was melt in your mouth buttery. The lobster in the Mac and cheese was a bit gummy. The little side veggies for both plates were unremarkable. Since it was my birthday I was treated to a complimentary molten lava cake, can't complain about free dessert! I would definitely come back here again!
Come for: the view Know that: you need to pay extra to book a booth with a view I came for my mother's birthday dinner and the staff was excellent. They were able to seat us at a booth facing the ocean, despite not booking in advance and paying the fee. Unfortunately the day was foggy, but still cool! The restaurant is located inside a little hotel. The food was...okay. Here's what I ordered: Carpaccio (4/5): i enjoyed the carpaccio's pairing with s chip, some mustardy sauce and the cheese for umami. Plate was small for the price though Kobe beef and seared sea scallops (2.5/5): do not get this. The scallops were overcooked, barely any kobe beef, and the potatoes on top become a soggy mess very quickly. Also, everything was extremely salty. Terrible. Overall, this is a spot you come to for a view and a cocktail. Don't plan special events here for s foodie.
I visited this restaurant with a friend, and overall we had a wonderful experience. We ordered a white wine, a red wine, beef carpaccio as an appetizer, and tiramisu for dessert. Everything was beautifully presented, and the view was absolutely stunning. The wines were exceptional. Honestly, some of the best I've had. It was also my first time trying beef carpaccio, and I loved it. It was a little salty for my taste, but I'm not sure if that's simply how the dish is traditionally prepared. The tiramisu was hands down the best I've ever had. The only downside happened when our food was being served. One of the dishes accidentally hit the wine glass, causing it to break on the table. We completely understood that accidents happen, and the staff quickly replaced everything. However, they didn't wipe up the table, and there were still small pieces of glass left. We could have asked, of course, but it was disappointing that it wasn't taken care of automatically. Another confusing moment was that it seemed like the manager intended to remove the wine from our bill because of the accident, but in the end we were still charged for it. Again, we weren't upset about the mistake itself. I've worked in hospitality and know that accidents happen, but the communication around it felt a little unclear. One other drawback is the restrooms, which weren't clean and it felt surprising for a restaurant of this caliber. That said, the incredible view, outstanding food, and excellent wine easily outweighed these issues. I would definitely come back and would still recommend this place to others. Parking was easy, across from the hotel. The restaurant is right up the stairs in the lobby. Restrooms were clean. It seemed like we had the best seat in the house, but these views are amazing no matter where you are. The food was so amazing, the views were absolutely stunning, and it was the perfect date night! I can't wait to come back soon.

Come here for the beautiful ocean views! Giant windows overlooking the Pacifica coast will make you feel like you're right there in the crashing surf. The food here is pretty good too. The ahi tuna poke was solid as was the sole entree. The steak fillet was unfortunately a bit disappointing. The meat was a bit stringy and not a great cut. However, the accompanying duck fat fries were delicious. Service was polite and courteous.
The food is most definitely nothing to write home about. I had the jumbo coconut prawns with mashed potatoes and pineapple guava sauce. The potatoes had no flavor, definitely didn't taste like they were made from real potatoes. My husband had the lobster tail and New York strip steak meal. The steak was rather small, the potato thing was decent, the tapenade was very very runny and overall just was worth the almost $70 for the dish. We each had a drink wish were also okay, but for $180 after tip (not Including the $28 I paid in advance to reserve the sunset table), I would have expected better quality. As for the reserved table, it was nice but the back bits up right to a high top bar table so it was a tad noisier than I would have liked (maybe if the booth had a higher back to down out the sound it would have been better). The person at the table had their elbow over the edge and kept grazing the top of my head. The sun was also reflecting off the water and was semi blinding, even with the shades down. I guess now I know why that specific booth was available, yet the others around it were all reserved.
Relative 4 stars. Better value and view than Nick's. You're coming for the view, which is 5 stars. You can have the same view outside but it's not the same as chilling over lunch and waves from the comfort of being indoors. The food is 3.5 stars relative to other seaside tourist traps, for decent value. The service is 3 stars, good luck hunting down your server. The clam chowder was pretty loaded with seafood and not too viscous (I.e. not too thick with cream). The crab cakes weren't too thick or too floury. Pleasantly surprised on the depth of flavor on seafood pasta too. Would skip prawn cocktail and raw oysters. Oysters oddly had no flavor. Not sweet not briney etc.
We went there last weekend and we weren't very excited with the reviews and photos when we were researching and we were absolutely amazed with our experience. Food, drinks, service and our server/photographer haha took amazing photos of us! Watching the sunset from front row was incredible. I recommend 100%.
Went here for my birthday dinner back in November and had such a great experience. I'd always wanted to try Moonraker since I visit Rockaway Beach in Pacifica pretty often, and with its location right in the center of everything and those amazing ocean views, it always stood out. One thing I really loved was how easy it was to make a reservation online. Being able to choose your exact table and preview the view ahead of time was such a cool feature and made it easy to pick the perfect spot for a special dinner. The service was amazing from start to finish. We started with the smoked salmon appetizer with grilled baguette, mascarpone, onion, and capers, which was delicious. For my entrée, I had the Dungeness crab cakes with fall vegetables, mashed potatoes, marinated fennel, petite frisée, and caper aioli, and it was incredible. My partner got the lobster mac & cheese, which was rich, flavorful, and definitely did not disappoint. Between the great food, drinks, attentive service, and unbeatable view, it made for such a memorable birthday dinner. I'll definitely be coming back.
(1 Star) moving to NO STARS A Deeply Toxic Environment: Save Your Money, Your Dignity, and Your Special Occasions If you are looking to celebrate a special milestone, feel respected as a paying customer, or receive the bare minimum of professional service, do not step foot inside Moonraker. My husband, a decorated disabled veteran, and I spent nearly $400 over back-to-back nights here for our anniversary, and it was a thoroughly demoralizing experience. When a business takes $100s and rewards you with condescending staff, hostile management, and an owner, Jason, who lacks basic accountability, the public needs to be warned. THE FIRST NIGHT: EXPLOITATION AND LAZINESS ($200 Cash) Our happy hour visit was completely ruined by our server, Manuel, whose attitude was remarkably condescending and dismissive. He repeatedly mishandled our drink orders and completely abandoned our table. Worse, we ordered oysters specifically for the advertised premium dry ice presentation. Manuel flat-out refused to perform it. My disabled husband with limited movement was forced to reach across the table and conduct the dry ice presentation himself just so we could experience what we paid for. The usual ambient live pianist was entirely absent, leaving the room dead and obnoxious (check the background noise from both videos from each night). When confronted, the manager, John, brushed it off, handed us a card, cheekly told us to email him next time to "work something out." THE SECOND NIGHT: DISRESPECT AND DECEIT ($170 Debit Card) We foolishly trusted management and returned the next night for dinner, expecting redemption. Instead, we were treated with open disrespect by our server, Sonya. We ordered the cioppino, which arrived in a hot heavy iron pot. The kitchen severely shorted the portions, giving us exactly two crab legs each with zero knuckles included (see attached photo). When we politely asked Sonya for help portioning it, she completely refused with a hostile attitude. Later, she picked up our unfinished calamari in its greasy metal cup, shook it aggressively in front of our faces, and condescendingly offered the last scraps instead of clearing the table like a professional. THE ETHICAL BREAKDOWN OF MANAGEMENT & OWNERSHIP When we approached John again to explain how both nights were ruined, he became instantly defensive. Despite knowing it was our milestone anniversary, his insulting solution for two nights of miserable service and a $370 tab was a single free piece of cake and granting us a table with views like we asked for originally. We attempted to handle this privately and professionally by emailing the executive chef and owner, Jason Yeafoli. Instead of showing leadership, Jason completely protected his defensive staff, backed John's insulting "free dessert" offer, and refused to issue a refund. BUT, he did this all without looking over the visual evidence (pictures and videos). Incompetently the FOLLOWING day of the complaint Jason immediately requested access to see the pictures and videos as if he didn't look at them to begin... This establishment will happily take your money, treat you like a nuisance, and then insult your intelligence when you ask for basic standards. They do not care about quality, they do not care about customers, and they certainly do not care about disabled veterans. Do not let them ruin your weekend the way they ruined our anniversary.

This restaurant is in a beautiful location with gorgeous ocean views and so many of the tables face the windows so you can have a perfect view of the water. There were so many waves, birds, and sea life to observe while enjoying our meal. The service was great. They were attentive, kind, and even acknowledged a birthday in our party! I did take off one star because the side dishes that come with the entrees aren't the most appetizing. The mashed potatoes and vegetables were bland and tasteless, and honestly felt reheated from the previous day. They just didn't taste fresh. All the other food was great though! Some restaurants take the ocean's punches and just don't go down. The Moonraker is one of them. Hit dead-on by rogue waves over the years that should have finished it. Didn't. Now it sits there like a rock against the raging Pacific. The seafood's still excellent. The views are still stunning. Bring an appetite. made a reservation online for dinner. we were greeted warmly and seated right away. our server aaron was amazing, very funny and attentive. we started with drinks and they were honestly a little weak (siren song and pacific sunset). for appetizers we had a cup of clam chowder which was perfectly meaty and creamy and complimentary bread and butter. for our mains we decided on the sole and the cioppino. all the food came out hot and in a timely manner. the sole was so flavorful, creamy and fresh! the cioppino also had a great flavor and lots of fresh seafood. since we were celebrating a birthday, they brought out a chocolate lava cake with raspberries which was such a nice touch! we left very full and happy! great view even on a foggy day and very warm, cozy atmosphere, perfect for celebrations! read more

Celebrated Mother's Day at Moonraker and the highlight of the experience was definitely the ambiance and breathtaking ocean view. The scenery alone makes the wait for the food enjoyable and relaxing. We started with the clam chowder and calamari for appetizers. The calamari was a bit small for the price, but the chowder was enjoyable. For our entrees, we ordered the Pappardelle Bolognese, Grilled Salmon Pinwheel, Dungeness Crab Cioppino, and Mussels-Frites. The dishes were decent overall, though nothing particularly stood out for us. Unfortunately, the Mussels-Frites, listed as one of the Chef's Specialties was overly salty, which was a bit disappointing since we had high expectations for it. Overall, it seems like many people come here mainly for the beautiful coastal view and relaxing atmosphere rather than the food itself. As for us, it was nice to experience once, but probably not a spot we'd return to. read more

Our waiter Zeferino was very nice and even though he was taking care of a party of at least 8 in the other room very attentive. Food was very delicious and it was even happy hr when we went on 9/27 which was a Saturday! Oysters were very good we are kind of particular regarding our oyster choices but the chefs picks were from the Washington state area! Excellent choice! I was taken here for a surprise anniversary date! We were seated at a booth right in front of the window, looking right out to the ocean. It was really nice! The host, server, and runner were very nice and helpful! They were quick with serving us food, refilling our waters and making sure everything was good. The food was really good! We ordered the artichoke and crab cake appetizer. The crab cakes were amazing! You'd be surprised how many times I've been somewhere where they don't do crab cakes very well. For the mains we got the salmon pinwheel and the surf & turf steak with lobster mac and cheese. Good size portions! We were then surprised and treated with a lava cake for our anniversary! We went here to celebrate our anniversary, and the place was absolutely amazing! Next time, we'll definitely reserve ahead of time so we can choose a table with the best ocean view. The food was good overall -- delicious, but nothing particularly extraordinary. The only thing we didn't enjoy was the mixed vegetables, which were soggy and had an overpowering Italian herb flavor. On the other hand, the wasabi marinara served with the oysters was surprisingly delicious. I never would've thought wasabi and oysters would pair so well together! Overall, we had a great experience and will definitely come back again, this time with the whole family. read more

The view overlooking the ocean is perfect, and the prices for happy hour are honestly amazing. $1.75/oyster, and the sparkling wine we got was dry, delicious, and sub-$8. Had a reservation for a party of five to celebrate a birthday. Thursday evening was able to secure street parking easily within a block. Love the sweeping ocean views! For starters we ordered their calamari, oysters, clam chowder, and asparagus soup cup. Everything all around good. Clam chowder comes with a lot of meat. For entree I ordered the chicken saltimbocca. Not a huge fan of cheese rind that came with the brie, but overall all the flavors on this dish worked wonderfully together. Service was a bit slow as there were longer than desired gaps we waited to order between appetizer, entree, and dessert. We had an excellent experience here. Came in Saturday afternoon without any reservations and got seated right away. There are plenty of booths with a seaside view, bars, and high tables. Service is good and food was definitely fresh. There was live piano playing throughout our time there too. Great place for dates! We ordered oysters, coconut shrimp, crab cakes, clam chowder, and lobster mac and cheese. Every dish had their own uniqueness to it and I don't have any complaints. This is the WORST reservation experience I've ever had! I made the reservation online a week in advance for our anniversary and paid $30 to reserve a table for 7:30 pm. However, we were not seated until 7:51 pm. I even arrived 20 minutes early to let the waiter know I was there, and they assured me they would call me at 7:30 pm. While I understand the restaurant can be busy, I had expected the table to be READY at the reserved time. The manager mentioned she spoke to the guests who were still seated at our table, but from my observation, that did not appear to happen. We stood by the counter for 20 minutes, which was particularly uncomfortable and frustrated for me due to my back pain. The manager offered drinks and a seat at the bar while waiting, but I declined, explaining that I had paid for a reservation for that specific time and expected the table to be ready. When we finally got to the table, it was dirty, and the seats had food on them. She only cleaned it when she saw the impatient look on my face. I was very upset about how we were treated. After the meal, I spoke with the manager. She said she didn't want to make excuses but mentioned that online reservations can be tricky. She explained that she couldn't ask the customers still at our table to leave because it wouldn't be polite. While I understand this, I had reserved the table for a specific time, and it should have been ready upon my arrival. If those guests couldn't finish their meal, the manager could have offered to move them to a nearby table instead. If the reservation system is tricky, this information should be clearly stated on the website. The steak and lobster was okay--nothing surprising, but nothing wrong either. It's a simple dish that's hard to get wrong. The seafood pasta, however, was just average. I couldn't finish it because it wasn't to my liking, and it even left me feeling a bit nauseous. It was a nice gesture for the restaurant to bring us a small anniversary cake, but unfortunately, it tasted like microwave chocolate brownie. The thick chocolate sauce was grainy and not smooth, making it hard to swallow. The server was nice and even helped us take a picture. The view at the restaurant was beautiful, but I wasn't in the mood to enjoy it after being treated so poorly. This is definitely NOT what I expected for a good date night restaurant that has a 4 stars review. read more

Moonraker was a fantastic experience! I really liked how you can reserve the exact table you'd like, therefore our view of the ocean was beautiful! I really loved the oysters they were very fresh along with the bread and butter being very warm. The lobster mac and cheese had a good balance of being cheesy and creamy. We love going for happy hour which is every day 4-6pm except Thursday 4-9pm. The oysters are $1.75 and they also have drink specials. They put dry ice with the oysters for a nice presentation. Best part of the restaurant is the ocean view. Great service and will be back read more

Reservations are not needed for happy hour! My friends and I thought happy hour on the weekend must mean there's long waits - false. We went on a Saturday at 5pm and the restaurant was about half full. We had some oysters and fried calamari and enjoyed the view. Although the oysters were on a full tray of ice, the oysters itself were actually at room temperature. By the time we each got to our 3rd oyster, the ice kind of kicked in and chilled the rest. Went here to celebrate my anniversary and, although the weather was overcast and rainy, the views of the water were still great! We enjoyed the crostini, calamari, and ravioli, but my boyfriend didn't really like his steak. Service was super fast and excellent. Second visit for a special birthday - the hostess was nice enough to seat us with a view of the ocean and it was my friend's first time there. The service was spot on, and we were never want for anything. The menu is diverse for any palate, and we were lucky to be there late enough for the piano player. Light tinkly jazz and dim lighting really added to the whole experience. I could have sat there sipping my martini all night while watching the mesmerizing ocean. Prices are up there, but worth it for a special date or to treat yourself. read more
We went to Moonraker for our son's birthday. There was six of us on a Tuesday night. We had a reservation and were seated right away. Our server was friendly and attentive. The ambience is romantic and the ocean view is beautiful. The food was delicious. For appetizers, we had the crostini & burrata, crispy calamari and Kobe beef carpaccio. This place was hopping on a windy Tuesday evening. I can understand the attraction without even trying the food. The restaurant has a prime location right on the ocean. The booths on the ocean side of the dining room are configured so that most people at the table have a view of the ocean. I had the New Year steak with duck fat fries. I asked for medium and it was served medium. The steak comes with a couple of sauces. I love sauces. The fries were hot and crispy. The food was good. I actually don't expect much from restaurants that have such a good location. The location is usually enough of a selling point. Food: 4 stars Location: 5 stars Service: 3.5 stars (a bit slow at times) Vibe: 5 stars (there was live piano playing throughout our meal) Noise: 3 stars (it was hard to hear at times) Prices: 3 stars (pricey - to be expected with its location) I liked this place.
