Second visit for a special birthday - the hostess was nice enough to seat us with a view of the ocean and it was my friend's first time there. Reservations are not needed for happy hour! My friends and I thought happy hour on the weekend must mean there's long waits - false. We went on a Saturday at 5pm and the restaurant was about half full. We had some oysters and fried calamari and enjoyed the view. Although the oysters were on a full tray of ice, the oysters itself were actually at room temperature. By the time we each got to our 3rd oyster, the ice kind of kicked in and chilled the rest. Really nice spot. They sat us right by the window facing the ocean, and it was a beautiful day with surfers and tourists out. The service was really good. The server was always around, and there were staff to refill waters and clear plates. The staff greeted us when we came in and welcomed us to return as we left. I thought it was a really nice touch. I can't give too much intel on the food, I had a nice lobster bisque, and cranberry salad; both were wonderful, although there wasn't too much lobster in the bisque. I made a 3:00 p.m. reservation at Moonraker Restaurant with my boyfriend because we were really looking forward to enjoying the ocean view. We actually arrived early and saw the restaurant was open. We were seated right away but the table was far from the windows. Since the view is such a big part of the experience there, my boyfriend politely asked if we could sit closer to the window if anything opened up. The hostess said nothing was available. He then asked if we could be called if a window table opened so we could walk around nearby while we waited, and she said they don't do that. The whole interaction felt dismissive and unaccommodating, especially after it seemed like our arriving early was already an inconvenience. After driving all the way from the South Bay to Pacifica specifically for this restaurant and the ocean view, it was really disappointing. Well.... Probably the worst food I've ever had. I paid $25 to reserve a table with the ocean view, which is whatever. The service was good and therefore one star. The food was by far the worst I've ever had. I couldn't even finish that awful Ahi Tuna--- gross and fishy, which I've never experienced before. Very overpriced. The menu sucked. I'm traumatized that I've spent $345 and left hungry because I couldn't eat the horrid food they serve. I'd recommend washing windows since they do charge for the view. I miss Cliff House in San Francisco. They served great food. I go to Sam's Chowder House, which is meh on food but million times better than moonraker. This place was hopping on a windy Tuesday evening. I can understand the attraction without even trying the food. The restaurant has a prime location right on the ocean. The booths on the ocean side of the dining room are configured so that most people at the table have a view of the ocean. I had the New Year steak with duck fat fries. I asked for medium and it was served medium. The steak comes with a couple of sauces. I love sauces. The fries were hot and crispy. The food was good. I actually don't expect much from restaurants that have such a good location. The location is usually enough of a selling point. This was my second time at Moonraker. Very... average I'd say honestly. The views are beautiful and breathtaking don't get me wrong. But the food and service is what was lacking here. The food is average at best.. good but didn't blow me away. For the price you are paying I'd hope it would be better. What really threw me off was the service. They were honestly not very nice in there. Service can really make or break your restaurant and experience and I'm sorry this was not a great experience for us. Our table kept getting forgotten and when we would ask the lady for stuff she would almost roll her eyes & just walk away & drop it off on the table like we were inconveniencing her. We decided on a spur of the moment to go out for Valentine's Day dinner and chose Moonraker based on an IG post we came across- it was a prix fixed menu due to Valentine's Day Bf chose the surf and turf and I chose the lamb chops I'm skipping the prosciutto starter because it was just sad. Soup came and it was cold while my salad was more than room temp - which I decided to not eat. BF main course was a small serving of scallops and overcooked steak My lamb chops were cooked fine but was drowning is sauce . Service was meh- we were forgotten as our table was way in the corner. I really was hoping we would like the food so that we could come back to sit at one of the tables that face the ocean as those views look spectacular. First time at Moonraker Restaurant was on Mother's Day, 2025 (Sunday, May 11, 2025) for dinner with the family and Mom. For the occasion, a credit card was required to make our 7 PM reservation. We opted against paying the extra $25 fee to choose our table, but were fortunate in scoring an Oyster Booth with a front row ocean view which was nice. The oceanfront restaurant offers free parking in the lot that they share with the hotel. Inside, with its floor to ceiling windows overlooking the beach, the dining room is set up in a manner to allow almost every table to enjoy views of the water. The lack of table cloths gives a casual air to the environment. The entire place appeared clean and tidy on the night of our visit. The boys really enjoyed their meals. Below are what we ordered from the regular menu. Mother's Day Special items were offered for the holiday, none of the items caught our attention. ROCK'A'BERRY DROP ($9.95) - This non-alcoholic cocktail was a hit with the boys. V said that he didn't taste the ginger ale, he said the flavour was more like raspberry and Sprite. PACIFIC SUNSET ($13.95) - Mom had two orders of this cocktail. She left quite buzzed, even with eating food. LAVENDER LEMONADE ($9.95) - This is not on the menu. I asked if a virgin version of the SIREN SONG could be made for me. Our waiter said that the beverage would be a lavender lemonade. Yum, I really liked that the floral flavour came through. CLAM CHOWDER ($14 BOWL) - Both of the boys started with this creamy bowl of soup which they said was really good. JUMBO STUFFED DATES ($17.95) - When I saw this appetizer on the menu, I told DJ that it had his name written all over it. I was right - he really enjoyed every bite. RED & GOLD BEET SALAD ($17.95) - Mom and I ordered this salad. She said that it lacked flavour and sufficient arugula. I thought that the presentation was very appealing, but it looked better than it tasted - I, too, found it to be a bit bland. VEGETABLE TAGINE ($28.95) - This dish was highly recommended by our server. DJ said that it was "just vegetables in tomato sauce," so nothing special. SEAFOOD PASTA ($39.95) - This was Mom's entree. She said that it was "the worst squid ink pasta" because the noodles were hard and also insufficient in volume. Can't blame Mom for being super disappointed by her main dish - she asked to replace clams for more pasta. Instead, she received mussels in place of the clams and no extra pasta. She brought this issue up to our waiter and he had the kitchen cook up a small bowl of extra of the noodles. PAPPARDELLE BOLOGNESE ($28.95) - Z and V ordered this pasta dish and enjoyed it. Z said that it was a small serving, but rich, so it was filling. LOBSTER TAILS & NEW YORK STRIP STEAK ($65.95) - I requested that the kitchen trim off all of the fat, but my meat still had quite a bit more fat that I needed to cut off. Thanks to the truffle butter atop the steak, the meat very savory. Mom asked me how the lobster tail was because she said that it did not look good once I cut off from the shell. It was good. I wasn't a big fan of the side of chef's vegetables and anna potato, so gave them to DJ. BLOOD ORANGE SORBET ($10.95) - V devoured this dessert of his, so it must have been good. Service was friendly, accommodating and patient. Mom was disappointed, though, that we had to ask for the complimentary bread and butter several times before it was served. She was also turned off that Moonraker didn't offer anything special for celebrant mothers like a flower. With their high-end prices, she had higher expectations of them. Celebrated my birthday dinner here. My first time eating here and I was not disappointed. The restaurant is described as a ritzy seafood-focused, but the seafood was limited to just a few selections. It is located in the Pacifica Lighthouse and opens at 4pm, reservations are required. They have underground parking lot. The restaurant is on the beachfront, only a few steps away from the Pacific ocean and all the tables have great views of the ocean. The ambiance, service, servers, and food were top notch. We had the Calamari, Coconut Shrimp for appetizers. The Clam chowder was good. For dinner we ordered the Vegetable Tagine, Moroccan spices, chick peas, carrots, peas, cauliflower, fennel, almonds and olives, and the Pappardelle Bolognese, Porcini and tomato braised pork, herb pasta, rosemary and parmesan. Sometimes the best days are the ones that come together last minute. I spent a much-needed day by the sea with my puppadoo and Hunny (who took a spontaneous "snow day" to join me), and it turned out to be the kind of soul-recharging experience you don't forget. The ocean was unusually rough, which made for a few intense moments in the water, but it also made us appreciate the calm even more when we retreated to my favorite little spot overlooking the sea. The view from this place? Unreal. Giant windows that frame the coastline like a painting. We kicked things off with guava prosecco cocktails--light, fruity, and dangerously easy to drink--paired with coconut shrimp served with a pineapple-guava dipping sauce that I'm still thinking about. For the main course, we shared the Kobe beef and scallops--perfectly seared with a silky demi-glacé and served over a bed of wilted spinach. The side of Anna potatoes (delicate, thinly sliced, almost like a lighter scalloped potato) was the perfect complement. The steak had a medium sear, just right to keep it tender beneath the spinach and sauce without overcooking. We couldn't skip dessert: bread pudding topped with a brûléed banana and a scoop of vanilla bean gelato. Rich but not heavy, it was the ideal ending. A strong cafecito sealed the deal, and we grabbed some crab cakes to go for my son--because no one gets left out of this kind of feast. This place never misses, and the combination of setting, food, and company (along with our super attentive waiter) made it one for the books. Can't wait to return in a few weeks! read more

Came to Moonraker for a business meal and despite needing to fight through the atmospheric river a bit, it was well worth the experience for the view alone! We started our meal with the oysters and calamari. The oysters were a little small but excellent - fresh, sweet, and delicious! The calamari left a bit to desire in my opinion. I think it was a little under fried and didn't have that satisfying crunch. We then tried the clam chowder and wow, I totally recommend this! It was chock full of clams and potato pieces. It was very hearty and comforting! For my main, I went with the sea scallops which were classic. They were seared nicely and I really enjoyed the butternut squash puree with roasted brussel sprouts, on point for the season! If I wasn't feeling a little under the weather, I would have actually picked the ciopinno though! It looked amazing upon delivery! For dessert, I had a cappuccino and it was made perfectly. The foam was tight and velvety! We also shared the s'mores on the table which was fun because you get to roast your own marshmallow! Moonraker really let us just sit and enjoy our meal over long conversations. She mentioned the all night happy hour at Moonraker and we decided to check it out. Seating is in bar area only and on a first come, first serve basis. We arrived right before 6 p.m. and the place was packed. Luckily, we were able to grab the last table. Oysters were $1.50 each. House cocktails $8.95 each. Service was prompt and friendly. The atmosphere was lively and there was even a person playing the piano. It measures up to fresh seafood in Bodega Bay. Even if you are not gluten-free you cannot tell the difference. I feel like this is a hidden gem in Pacifica on the coast.
