There were so many waves, birds, and sea life to observe while enjoying our meal. The service was great. They were attentive, kind, and even acknowledged a birthday in our party! I did take off one star because the side dishes that come with the entrees aren't the most appetizing. The mashed potatoes and vegetables were bland and tasteless, and honestly felt reheated from the previous day. They just didn't taste fresh. All the other food was great though! The host, server, and runner were very nice and helpful! They were quick with serving us food, refilling our waters and making sure everything was good. The food was really good! This is the WORST reservation experience I've ever had! I made the reservation online a week in advance for our anniversary and paid $30 to reserve a table for 7:30 pm. However, we were not seated until 7:51 pm. I even arrived 20 minutes early to let the waiter know I was there, and they assured me they would call me at 7:30 pm. While I understand the restaurant can be busy, I had expected the table to be READY at the reserved time. The manager mentioned she spoke to the guests who were still seated at our table, but from my observation, that did not appear to happen. We stood by the counter for 20 minutes, which was particularly uncomfortable and frustrated for me due to my back pain. The manager offered drinks and a seat at the bar while waiting, but I declined, explaining that I had paid for a reservation for that specific time and expected the table to be ready. When we finally got to the table, it was dirty, and the seats had food on them. She only cleaned it when she saw the impatient look on my face. I was very upset about how we were treated. After the meal, I spoke with the manager. She said she didn't want to make excuses but mentioned that online reservations can be tricky. She explained that she couldn't ask the customers still at our table to leave because it wouldn't be polite. While I understand this, I had reserved the table for a specific time, and it should have been ready upon my arrival. If those guests couldn't finish their meal, the manager could have offered to move them to a nearby table instead. If the reservation system is tricky, this information should be clearly stated on the website. The steak and lobster was okay--nothing surprising, but nothing wrong either. It's a simple dish that's hard to get wrong. The seafood pasta, however, was just average. I couldn't finish it because it wasn't to my liking, and it even left me feeling a bit nauseous. It was a nice gesture for the restaurant to bring us a small anniversary cake, but unfortunately, it tasted like microwave chocolate brownie. The thick chocolate sauce was grainy and not smooth, making it hard to swallow. The server was nice and even helped us take a picture. The view at the restaurant was beautiful, but I wasn't in the mood to enjoy it after being treated so poorly. We went on a Saturday at 5pm and the restaurant was about half full. We had some oysters and fried calamari and enjoyed the view. Although the oysters were on a full tray of ice, the oysters itself were actually at room temperature. By the time we each got to our 3rd oyster, the ice kind of kicked in and chilled the rest. The booths on the ocean side of the dining room are configured so that most people at the table have a view of the ocean. I had the New Year steak with duck fat fries. The food is average at best.. good but didn't blow me away. For the price you are paying I'd hope it would be better. What really threw me off was the service. They were honestly not very nice in there. Service can really make or break your restaurant and experience and I'm sorry this was not a great experience for us. First time at Moonraker Restaurant was on Mother's Day, 2025 (Sunday, May 11, 2025) for dinner with the family and Mom. For the occasion, a credit card was required to make our 7 PM reservation. We opted against paying the extra $25 fee to choose our table, but were fortunate in scoring an Oyster Booth with a front row ocean view which was nice. The oceanfront restaurant offers free parking in the lot that they share with the hotel. Inside, with its floor to ceiling windows overlooking the beach, the dining room is set up in a manner to allow almost every table to enjoy views of the water. The lack of table cloths gives a casual air to the environment. The entire place appeared clean and tidy on the night of our visit. The boys really enjoyed their meals. Below are what we ordered from the regular menu. Mother's Day Special items were offered for the holiday, none of the items caught our attention. ROCK'A'BERRY DROP ($9.95) - This non-alcoholic cocktail was a hit with the boys. V said that he didn't taste the ginger ale, he said the flavour was more like raspberry and Sprite. PACIFIC SUNSET ($13.95) - Mom had two orders of this cocktail. She left quite buzzed, even with eating food. LAVENDER LEMONADE ($9.95) - This is not on the menu. I asked if a virgin version of the SIREN SONG could be made for me. Our waiter said that the beverage would be a lavender lemonade. Yum, I really liked that the floral flavour came through. CLAM CHOWDER ($14 BOWL) - Both of the boys started with this creamy bowl of soup which they said was really good. JUMBO STUFFED DATES ($17.95) - When I saw this appetizer on the menu, I told DJ that it had his name written all over it. I was right - he really enjoyed every bite. RED & GOLD BEET SALAD ($17.95) - Mom and I ordered this salad. She said that it lacked flavour and sufficient arugula. I thought that the presentation was very appealing, but it looked better than it tasted - I, too, found it to be a bit bland. VEGETABLE TAGINE ($28.95) - This dish was highly recommended by our server. DJ said that it was "just vegetables in tomato sauce," so nothing special. SEAFOOD PASTA ($39.95) - This was Mom's entree. She said that it was "the worst squid ink pasta" because the noodles were hard and also insufficient in volume. Can't blame Mom for being super disappointed by her main dish - she asked to replace clams for more pasta. Instead, she received mussels in place of the clams and no extra pasta. She brought this issue up to our waiter and he had the kitchen cook up a small bowl of extra of the noodles. PAPPARDELLE BOLOGNESE ($28.95) - Z and V ordered this pasta dish and enjoyed it. Z said that it was a small serving, but rich, so it was filling. LOBSTER TAILS & NEW YORK STRIP STEAK ($65.95) - I requested that the kitchen trim off all of the fat, but my meat still had quite a bit more fat that I needed to cut off. Thanks to the truffle butter atop the steak, the meat very savory. Mom asked me how the lobster tail was because she said that it did not look good once I cut off from the shell. It was good. I wasn't a big fan of the side of chef's vegetables and anna potato, so gave them to DJ. BLOOD ORANGE SORBET ($10.95) - V devoured this dessert of his, so it must have been good. Service was friendly, accommodating and patient. Mom was disappointed, though, that we had to ask for the complimentary bread and butter several times before it was served. She was also turned off that Moonraker didn't offer anything special for celebrant mothers like a flower. With their high-end prices, she had higher expectations of them. My boyfriend and I had dinner at Moonraker's to celebrate our three-year anniversary, and overall, it was a really nice evening. The location is beautiful--our oyster booth by the window had a stunning view of the ocean, which added something special to the night. We also appreciated being able to reserve the table online ahead of time for a small fee--it made planning easy. The only downside was that it got a bit warm at our table as the sun was setting; the light was coming in directly through the windows, which made it a little less comfortable at times. Service was great. The staff was friendly and attentive, and they even brought us a complimentary slice of chocolate molten lava cake with raspberries to celebrate our anniversary, which was such a kind and thoughtful gesture. We enjoyed the drinks a lot--the Siren Song was a standout: really fragrant from the lavender lemonade and blueberries and well-balanced, definitely something I'd order again. For appetizers, we had the chilled crab legs, which were tasty and fresh, but we didn't notice the drawn butter until later as it was placed on the chilled platter behind the crab legs--and by then it had cooled and solidified. The coconut prawns were massive and well-cooked, though the sauce they came with was a little too sweet for our taste. We also had the duck fat fries and they were great, nothing too standout. Here's where it changes. The mains were definite showstoppers. We had the asparagus ravioli and the petrale sole, and both were amazing. The ravioli was delicately cooked to a perfect al dente, with a bright, refreshing touch from the lemon zest, pomegranate seeds, and cherry tomatoes. The sole was especially memorable--flaky, tender, and beautifully complemented by the tangy lemon caper sauce and a nice porcini dust. One small thing to keep in mind if you're reserving the oyster booth: there are high-top tables placed directly behind it, and the booth itself it quite roomy but space behind can feel a bit tight. The couple seated behind us had their menu hanging off the edge of their table and it was right at my boyfriend's head level--he had to be careful and lean slightly forward to avoid bumping into it. Not a major issue, just something to be aware of if you're hoping for a bit more space. Overall, the food was solid for the price, and the combination of the ocean view, good service, and thoughtful details made it a nice night out. We'd definitely come back! read more

We were fortunate to have a clear day with no fog, making the scenery worth the trip. The service was outstanding--truly five-star. Our server was attentive, friendly, and professional throughout the meal. We started with warm bread and butter. The bread was delicious, but the butter was served in a small ramekin with a layer of salt on top that we had to scrape it away to reach the butter underneath. For lunch, we ordered the Twin Lobster Tails and the Petrale Sole. The lobster had good flavor, but it was surprisingly tough and required quite a bit of effort to cut into bite-sized pieces. It was served with the chef's vegetables and Anna potatoes. The vegetables had a seasoning that wasn't to my taste and didn't add much to the dish. The Anna potatoes were extremely buttery--so much so that it felt like biting into butter between the potato layers. This was my first time trying Anna potatoes, so perhaps that's the traditional preparation, but they were simply too rich for me to enjoy. The Petrale Sole, on the other hand, was nicely prepared, flavorful, and accompanied by creamy mashed potatoes that were excellent. Overall, the food was just okay. The exceptional service and breathtaking ocean view were the highlights of the experience and made the meal enjoyable despite the mixed impressions of the food. Since it's about a 90-minute drive for us, it's unlikely we'll make the trip again. If we lived nearby, we might return, but we'd definitely choose different menu items. read more
