After eight years of my partner living in Pacifica, we finally made our first visit! I'd seen this place pop up several times on social media and recommendation lists, so we figured it was time to see what we'd been missing. First off, the view is incredible. We were lucky enough to sit facing the water, and having a live piano player during our visit made the whole experience even better. The atmosphere alone makes this place worth checking out. We ordered the peach burrata, corn bisque, Oysters Rockefeller, steak frites, and mango crème brûlée. The peach burrata and corn bisque were great, and the steak was cooked and prepared really well. I normally don't use sauce on my steaks, but this one felt like it was missing a little something. I would've loved a different sauce or accompaniment to bring everything together. The fries, however, were phenomenal, and the mango crème brûlée was a great way to finish the meal. The Oysters Rockefeller were probably the only real disappointment. They weren't bad, but we've definitely had better elsewhere, so they didn't quite live up to the rest of the meal. For drinks, we started with a dirty martini and the house Manhattan, then asked our server, Daniel, for a recommendation. He suggested the Old Fashioned, and that ended up being the winner of the night! We liked it enough to order a few more. Daniel was attentive, friendly, and provided great service throughout the evening. Between the oceanfront view, live piano, cocktails, food, and service, we had a really enjoyable first experience. It may have taken us eight years to finally stop in, but I'm glad we did. We'll definitely be back, especially for that Old Fashioned, those fries, and the view!
WOW... I made a huge mistake!! I ordered delivery for dinner but went for a walk and figured after seeing this gorgeous view from outside I'd go in for just a beer at the bar. I totally should have skipped delivery and eaten a full meal here!! A beer turned into a cup of chowder which was extraordinary and it's the first time I've ever had my chowder served with a real clam shell inside lol. Might be a minor thing but it made the chowder so much more enjoyable and a definite sign of the freshness. I need to come back for a proper meal but the live piano, elevated service and incredible smells won me over as this place is a gem!
Was recommended by a friend and decided to reserve a spot for my birthday. We booked the pearl table for an extra $30. Ambiance: as soon as you enter the restaurant you are greeted with the view of the ocean. There's also a live pianist. Service: we were greeted right away and they kept refilling our waters. They have great time management and occasionally checked in on us from time to time. Food: There's complimentary bread and butter. Our first loaf came out warm. The other times we refilled it was cold. -Poke nachos 5/5: bit on the sweet side but it was delicious -Cup of clam chowder 5/5: good flavor and had a lot of yummy seafood pieces in it -Main entrees: the New York steak for both dishes were well seasoned, tender, cooked to perfection! The lobster tail was melt in your mouth buttery. The lobster in the Mac and cheese was a bit gummy. The little side veggies for both plates were unremarkable. Since it was my birthday I was treated to a complimentary molten lava cake, can't complain about free dessert! I would definitely come back here again!
Come for: the view Know that: you need to pay extra to book a booth with a view I came for my mother's birthday dinner and the staff was excellent. They were able to seat us at a booth facing the ocean, despite not booking in advance and paying the fee. Unfortunately the day was foggy, but still cool! The restaurant is located inside a little hotel. The food was...okay. Here's what I ordered: Carpaccio (4/5): i enjoyed the carpaccio's pairing with s chip, some mustardy sauce and the cheese for umami. Plate was small for the price though Kobe beef and seared sea scallops (2.5/5): do not get this. The scallops were overcooked, barely any kobe beef, and the potatoes on top become a soggy mess very quickly. Also, everything was extremely salty. Terrible. Overall, this is a spot you come to for a view and a cocktail. Don't plan special events here for s foodie.
I visited this restaurant with a friend, and overall we had a wonderful experience. We ordered a white wine, a red wine, beef carpaccio as an appetizer, and tiramisu for dessert. Everything was beautifully presented, and the view was absolutely stunning. The wines were exceptional. Honestly, some of the best I've had. It was also my first time trying beef carpaccio, and I loved it. It was a little salty for my taste, but I'm not sure if that's simply how the dish is traditionally prepared. The tiramisu was hands down the best I've ever had. The only downside happened when our food was being served. One of the dishes accidentally hit the wine glass, causing it to break on the table. We completely understood that accidents happen, and the staff quickly replaced everything. However, they didn't wipe up the table, and there were still small pieces of glass left. We could have asked, of course, but it was disappointing that it wasn't taken care of automatically. Another confusing moment was that it seemed like the manager intended to remove the wine from our bill because of the accident, but in the end we were still charged for it. Again, we weren't upset about the mistake itself. I've worked in hospitality and know that accidents happen, but the communication around it felt a little unclear. One other drawback is the restrooms, which weren't clean and it felt surprising for a restaurant of this caliber. That said, the incredible view, outstanding food, and excellent wine easily outweighed these issues. I would definitely come back and would still recommend this place to others. Parking was easy, across from the hotel. The restaurant is right up the stairs in the lobby. Restrooms were clean. It seemed like we had the best seat in the house, but these views are amazing no matter where you are. The food was so amazing, the views were absolutely stunning, and it was the perfect date night! I can't wait to come back soon.

Come here for the beautiful ocean views! Giant windows overlooking the Pacifica coast will make you feel like you're right there in the crashing surf. The food here is pretty good too. The ahi tuna poke was solid as was the sole entree. The steak fillet was unfortunately a bit disappointing. The meat was a bit stringy and not a great cut. However, the accompanying duck fat fries were delicious. Service was polite and courteous.
The food is most definitely nothing to write home about. I had the jumbo coconut prawns with mashed potatoes and pineapple guava sauce. The potatoes had no flavor, definitely didn't taste like they were made from real potatoes. My husband had the lobster tail and New York strip steak meal. The steak was rather small, the potato thing was decent, the tapenade was very very runny and overall just was worth the almost $70 for the dish. We each had a drink wish were also okay, but for $180 after tip (not Including the $28 I paid in advance to reserve the sunset table), I would have expected better quality. As for the reserved table, it was nice but the back bits up right to a high top bar table so it was a tad noisier than I would have liked (maybe if the booth had a higher back to down out the sound it would have been better). The person at the table had their elbow over the edge and kept grazing the top of my head. The sun was also reflecting off the water and was semi blinding, even with the shades down. I guess now I know why that specific booth was available, yet the others around it were all reserved.
Relative 4 stars. Better value and view than Nick's. You're coming for the view, which is 5 stars. You can have the same view outside but it's not the same as chilling over lunch and waves from the comfort of being indoors. The food is 3.5 stars relative to other seaside tourist traps, for decent value. The service is 3 stars, good luck hunting down your server. The clam chowder was pretty loaded with seafood and not too viscous (I.e. not too thick with cream). The crab cakes weren't too thick or too floury. Pleasantly surprised on the depth of flavor on seafood pasta too. Would skip prawn cocktail and raw oysters. Oysters oddly had no flavor. Not sweet not briney etc.
We went there last weekend and we weren't very excited with the reviews and photos when we were researching and we were absolutely amazed with our experience. Food, drinks, service and our server/photographer haha took amazing photos of us! Watching the sunset from front row was incredible. I recommend 100%.
Went here for my birthday dinner back in November and had such a great experience. I'd always wanted to try Moonraker since I visit Rockaway Beach in Pacifica pretty often, and with its location right in the center of everything and those amazing ocean views, it always stood out. One thing I really loved was how easy it was to make a reservation online. Being able to choose your exact table and preview the view ahead of time was such a cool feature and made it easy to pick the perfect spot for a special dinner. The service was amazing from start to finish. We started with the smoked salmon appetizer with grilled baguette, mascarpone, onion, and capers, which was delicious. For my entrée, I had the Dungeness crab cakes with fall vegetables, mashed potatoes, marinated fennel, petite frisée, and caper aioli, and it was incredible. My partner got the lobster mac & cheese, which was rich, flavorful, and definitely did not disappoint. Between the great food, drinks, attentive service, and unbeatable view, it made for such a memorable birthday dinner. I'll definitely be coming back.
(1 Star) moving to NO STARS A Deeply Toxic Environment: Save Your Money, Your Dignity, and Your Special Occasions If you are looking to celebrate a special milestone, feel respected as a paying customer, or receive the bare minimum of professional service, do not step foot inside Moonraker. My husband, a decorated disabled veteran, and I spent nearly $400 over back-to-back nights here for our anniversary, and it was a thoroughly demoralizing experience. When a business takes $100s and rewards you with condescending staff, hostile management, and an owner, Jason, who lacks basic accountability, the public needs to be warned. THE FIRST NIGHT: EXPLOITATION AND LAZINESS ($200 Cash) Our happy hour visit was completely ruined by our server, Manuel, whose attitude was remarkably condescending and dismissive. He repeatedly mishandled our drink orders and completely abandoned our table. Worse, we ordered oysters specifically for the advertised premium dry ice presentation. Manuel flat-out refused to perform it. My disabled husband with limited movement was forced to reach across the table and conduct the dry ice presentation himself just so we could experience what we paid for. The usual ambient live pianist was entirely absent, leaving the room dead and obnoxious (check the background noise from both videos from each night). When confronted, the manager, John, brushed it off, handed us a card, cheekly told us to email him next time to "work something out." THE SECOND NIGHT: DISRESPECT AND DECEIT ($170 Debit Card) We foolishly trusted management and returned the next night for dinner, expecting redemption. Instead, we were treated with open disrespect by our server, Sonya. We ordered the cioppino, which arrived in a hot heavy iron pot. The kitchen severely shorted the portions, giving us exactly two crab legs each with zero knuckles included (see attached photo). When we politely asked Sonya for help portioning it, she completely refused with a hostile attitude. Later, she picked up our unfinished calamari in its greasy metal cup, shook it aggressively in front of our faces, and condescendingly offered the last scraps instead of clearing the table like a professional. THE ETHICAL BREAKDOWN OF MANAGEMENT & OWNERSHIP When we approached John again to explain how both nights were ruined, he became instantly defensive. Despite knowing it was our milestone anniversary, his insulting solution for two nights of miserable service and a $370 tab was a single free piece of cake and granting us a table with views like we asked for originally. We attempted to handle this privately and professionally by emailing the executive chef and owner, Jason Yeafoli. Instead of showing leadership, Jason completely protected his defensive staff, backed John's insulting "free dessert" offer, and refused to issue a refund. BUT, he did this all without looking over the visual evidence (pictures and videos). Incompetently the FOLLOWING day of the complaint Jason immediately requested access to see the pictures and videos as if he didn't look at them to begin... This establishment will happily take your money, treat you like a nuisance, and then insult your intelligence when you ask for basic standards. They do not care about quality, they do not care about customers, and they certainly do not care about disabled veterans. Do not let them ruin your weekend the way they ruined our anniversary.

This was my second time at Moonraker. Very... average I'd say honestly. The views are beautiful and breathtaking don't get me wrong. But the food and service is what was lacking here. The food is average at best.. good but didn't blow me away. For the price you are paying I'd hope it would be better. What really threw me off was the service. They were honestly not very nice in there. Service can really make or break your restaurant and experience and I'm sorry this was not a great experience for us. Our table kept getting forgotten and when we would ask the lady for stuff she would almost roll her eyes & just walk away & drop it off on the table like we were inconveniencing her. First time at Moonraker Restaurant was on Mother's Day, 2025 (Sunday, May 11, 2025) for dinner with the family and Mom. For the occasion, a credit card was required to make our 7 PM reservation. We opted against paying the extra $25 fee to choose our table, but were fortunate in scoring an Oyster Booth with a front row ocean view which was nice. The oceanfront restaurant offers free parking in the lot that they share with the hotel. Inside, with its floor to ceiling windows overlooking the beach, the dining room is set up in a manner to allow almost every table to enjoy views of the water. The lack of table cloths gives a casual air to the environment. The entire place appeared clean and tidy on the night of our visit. The boys really enjoyed their meals. Below are what we ordered from the regular menu. Mother's Day Special items were offered for the holiday, none of the items caught our attention. ROCK'A'BERRY DROP ($9.95) - This non-alcoholic cocktail was a hit with the boys. V said that he didn't taste the ginger ale, he said the flavour was more like raspberry and Sprite. PACIFIC SUNSET ($13.95) - Mom had two orders of this cocktail. She left quite buzzed, even with eating food. LAVENDER LEMONADE ($9.95) - This is not on the menu. I asked if a virgin version of the SIREN SONG could be made for me. Our waiter said that the beverage would be a lavender lemonade. Yum, I really liked that the floral flavour came through. CLAM CHOWDER ($14 BOWL) - Both of the boys started with this creamy bowl of soup which they said was really good. JUMBO STUFFED DATES ($17.95) - When I saw this appetizer on the menu, I told DJ that it had his name written all over it. I was right - he really enjoyed every bite. RED & GOLD BEET SALAD ($17.95) - Mom and I ordered this salad. She said that it lacked flavour and sufficient arugula. I thought that the presentation was very appealing, but it looked better than it tasted - I, too, found it to be a bit bland. VEGETABLE TAGINE ($28.95) - This dish was highly recommended by our server. DJ said that it was "just vegetables in tomato sauce," so nothing special. SEAFOOD PASTA ($39.95) - This was Mom's entree. She said that it was "the worst squid ink pasta" because the noodles were hard and also insufficient in volume. Can't blame Mom for being super disappointed by her main dish - she asked to replace clams for more pasta. Instead, she received mussels in place of the clams and no extra pasta. She brought this issue up to our waiter and he had the kitchen cook up a small bowl of extra of the noodles. PAPPARDELLE BOLOGNESE ($28.95) - Z and V ordered this pasta dish and enjoyed it. Z said that it was a small serving, but rich, so it was filling. LOBSTER TAILS & NEW YORK STRIP STEAK ($65.95) - I requested that the kitchen trim off all of the fat, but my meat still had quite a bit more fat that I needed to cut off. Thanks to the truffle butter atop the steak, the meat very savory. Mom asked me how the lobster tail was because she said that it did not look good once I cut off from the shell. It was good. I wasn't a big fan of the side of chef's vegetables and anna potato, so gave them to DJ. BLOOD ORANGE SORBET ($10.95) - V devoured this dessert of his, so it must have been good. Service was friendly, accommodating and patient. Mom was disappointed, though, that we had to ask for the complimentary bread and butter several times before it was served. She was also turned off that Moonraker didn't offer anything special for celebrant mothers like a flower. With their high-end prices, she had higher expectations of them. My boyfriend and I had dinner at Moonraker's to celebrate our three-year anniversary, and overall, it was a really nice evening. The location is beautiful--our oyster booth by the window had a stunning view of the ocean, which added something special to the night. We also appreciated being able to reserve the table online ahead of time for a small fee--it made planning easy. The only downside was that it got a bit warm at our table as the sun was setting; the light was coming in directly through the windows, which made it a little less comfortable at times. Service was great. The staff was friendly and attentive, and they even brought us a complimentary slice of chocolate molten lava cake with raspberries to celebrate our anniversary, which was such a kind and thoughtful gesture. We enjoyed the drinks a lot--the Siren Song was a standout: really fragrant from the lavender lemonade and blueberries and well-balanced, definitely something I'd order again. For appetizers, we had the chilled crab legs, which were tasty and fresh, but we didn't notice the drawn butter until later as it was placed on the chilled platter behind the crab legs--and by then it had cooled and solidified. The coconut prawns were massive and well-cooked, though the sauce they came with was a little too sweet for our taste. We also had the duck fat fries and they were great, nothing too standout. Here's where it changes. The mains were definite showstoppers. We had the asparagus ravioli and the petrale sole, and both were amazing. The ravioli was delicately cooked to a perfect al dente, with a bright, refreshing touch from the lemon zest, pomegranate seeds, and cherry tomatoes. The sole was especially memorable--flaky, tender, and beautifully complemented by the tangy lemon caper sauce and a nice porcini dust. One small thing to keep in mind if you're reserving the oyster booth: there are high-top tables placed directly behind it, and the booth itself it quite roomy but space behind can feel a bit tight. The couple seated behind us had their menu hanging off the edge of their table and it was right at my boyfriend's head level--he had to be careful and lean slightly forward to avoid bumping into it. Not a major issue, just something to be aware of if you're hoping for a bit more space. Overall, the food was solid for the price, and the combination of the ocean view, good service, and thoughtful details made it a nice night out. We'd definitely come back! read more

We visited Moonraker in Pacifica on Thanksgiving with my wife and child. Live music, delicious food, and warm cocktails -- what more could you wish for on Thanksgiving? Despite the large crowd, the service was excellent and very fast. Everything was simply wonderful. Thank you so much. We'll definitely be back on a regular evening. read more

Celebrated my birthday dinner here. My first time eating here and I was not disappointed. The restaurant is described as a ritzy seafood-focused, but the seafood was limited to just a few selections. It is located in the Pacifica Lighthouse and opens at 4pm, reservations are required. They have underground parking lot. The restaurant is on the beachfront, only a few steps away from the Pacific ocean and all the tables have great views of the ocean. The ambiance, service, servers, and food were top notch. We had the Calamari, Coconut Shrimp for appetizers. The Clam chowder was good. For dinner we ordered the Vegetable Tagine, Moroccan spices, chick peas, carrots, peas, cauliflower, fennel, almonds and olives, and the Pappardelle Bolognese, Porcini and tomato braised pork, herb pasta, rosemary and parmesan. We went for dinner Sunday evening. It was a beautiful day and we were lucky to have Aurelio as our server. Amazing person; friendly, professional, knowledgeable. He recommended a great wine. The views are hands down the best in Rockaway. The food is delicious and fresh. There was a talented gentleman playing piano in the bar area. Great ambiance overall. Love the Moonraker Restaurant. Sometimes the best days are the ones that come together last minute. I spent a much-needed day by the sea with my puppadoo and Hunny (who took a spontaneous "snow day" to join me), and it turned out to be the kind of soul-recharging experience you don't forget. The ocean was unusually rough, which made for a few intense moments in the water, but it also made us appreciate the calm even more when we retreated to my favorite little spot overlooking the sea. The view from this place? Unreal. Giant windows that frame the coastline like a painting. We kicked things off with guava prosecco cocktails--light, fruity, and dangerously easy to drink--paired with coconut shrimp served with a pineapple-guava dipping sauce that I'm still thinking about. For the main course, we shared the Kobe beef and scallops--perfectly seared with a silky demi-glacé and served over a bed of wilted spinach. The side of Anna potatoes (delicate, thinly sliced, almost like a lighter scalloped potato) was the perfect complement. The steak had a medium sear, just right to keep it tender beneath the spinach and sauce without overcooking. We couldn't skip dessert: bread pudding topped with a brûléed banana and a scoop of vanilla bean gelato. Rich but not heavy, it was the ideal ending. A strong cafecito sealed the deal, and we grabbed some crab cakes to go for my son--because no one gets left out of this kind of feast. This place never misses, and the combination of setting, food, and company (along with our super attentive waiter) made it one for the books. Can't wait to return in a few weeks! read more

This was our first visit to Moonraker Restaurant, and it went above our expectations. The views are fabulous. We were seated at a table with the best view of the Pacific Ocean that one could ask for. The food was fabulous. The service was great. We will definitely be returning to this restaurant again and again and again. We loved it. Came to Moonraker for a business meal and despite needing to fight through the atmospheric river a bit, it was well worth the experience for the view alone! We started our meal with the oysters and calamari. The oysters were a little small but excellent - fresh, sweet, and delicious! The calamari left a bit to desire in my opinion. I think it was a little under fried and didn't have that satisfying crunch. We then tried the clam chowder and wow, I totally recommend this! It was chock full of clams and potato pieces. It was very hearty and comforting! For my main, I went with the sea scallops which were classic. They were seared nicely and I really enjoyed the butternut squash puree with roasted brussel sprouts, on point for the season! If I wasn't feeling a little under the weather, I would have actually picked the ciopinno though! It looked amazing upon delivery! For dessert, I had a cappuccino and it was made perfectly. The foam was tight and velvety! We also shared the s'mores on the table which was fun because you get to roast your own marshmallow! Moonraker really let us just sit and enjoy our meal over long conversations. I think this is the first time I've been at a restaurant from open to close which felt really weird to me but staff continued to be attentive throughout and that was greatly appreciated. read more

All night happy hour on Thursdays? Sign me up! A friend and I came here after trying to get into a local wine bar that was closed for a private event. She mentioned the all night happy hour at Moonraker and we decided to check it out. Seating is in bar area only and on a first come, first serve basis. We arrived right before 6 p.m. and the place was packed. Luckily, we were able to grab the last table. Oysters were $1.50 each. House cocktails $8.95 each. Service was prompt and friendly. The atmosphere was lively and there was even a person playing the piano. Knowing about the happy hour deals, I'm definitely adding Moonraker, a local oldie and prior fave, to my rotation list. read more

The fish and chips is always on our bar menu, but not discounted for happy hour

Their phone number, (650)557.7025, is posted on their website; however, they encourage booking reservations via their website wherein you can pay to upgrade your booking to choose your specific table.
Can I take my drink from happy hour to my dinner table?
Yes, you can. We usually close out our tab in the bar before we head to our table in the restaurant.
Do you still have Sunday all you can eat brunch?
No we discontinued that after Covid

Yes live piano music Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Tuesday
Can you make a reservation for a bar table for happy hour?
Hi Nancy Unfortunately not. We recommend coming in at 4pm any day we are open for best seating as we fill up quickly.
Do you accept reservations 15-20 people and can we set the menu?
In most cases yes, please call 650.557.7025 and we can assist you in making that reservation.
Does the $20 reservation fee get credited towards the total?
Greetings, when we dined there last October, the reservation fee was not credited towards the total bill (separate fee...worth it from my perspective)

4pm-6pm everyday except Thursday 4pm-9pm!

Do you see surfers from here?
Yes if you get window seats while you eat yes you can. Or you can seat at the bar and get drinks and see them as well. It's a sight to see from Moonrakers
Do you plan on bringing back the all you can eat weekend brunch?

No, although it has to be more appropriate for outside wear
