We have seen this place many times and yet never went in... the day we stopped in they had a fundraising event outside for dogs which was very apropos since we had just left the world dog surfing championship right nearby. Great wines great service great vibes in this adorable Lil wine room the inside is a total vibe and the gentleman running the place is extremely knowledgeable about wines, the regions they come from he steered us to some amazing wines in our flights. Grape in the Fog is a Pacifica gem that deserves far more attention. They have a lovely selection of wine and a membership club for local regulars who enjoy a fine sip, but also like a little value. My buddy and I recently visited twice in as many weeks because it's just that good. The happy hour house red is a delicious bargain that makes no apology. The charcuterie board actually feeds two people quite well, unlike most places that give you a few crumbs of cheese and a slice of salami. Check the attached photo to see what I'm talking about. If you're not a wine drinker, you can check out the local Rockaway Beach IPA. Or one of the nonalcoholic options. They even have cake! Staff is friendly and efficient. Sunday jazz - no cover charge. 4p-6p. Hubby & I attended a jazz performance Sunday afternoon at this wine bar. Our fellow taiko drum classmate Marlina Teich is a jazz musician and has her own trio. She plays jazz guitar and vocals. We entered around 3:45pm and several tables already occupied. We sat at a table where we had a good view of the trio. Food wise - * hubby & I both had local beers. He had a draft lager. Me a canned porter. * charcuterie board. This is a local hangout. Tucked away at the end of the street running parallel to Hwy 1. We'd love to come again. The beer very refreshing specially Laughing Monk Brewing, San Francisco CA I took a sparkling flight and there were very good all of the no exceptions. I got some Brie + Jam to go with this and I enjoy it. The service was kind and always making sure I had everything I needed. A friend of mine and I went last week and I had to post a review about how excellent our experience was. Our hostess and waitress Christine was amazing. We were greeted with warmth and grace when we walked in and were taken care of the entire time. She always seemed to know when to check in with us without interrupting the flow of the conversation. The wine and food were great. I had the tomato soup and the rose while my friend had the cheese, jam and crackers and a pinot noir (I think but I'm not 100% sure about her wine selection). It was a quiet, wonderful evening with great ambiance and a relaxed atmosphere. There were some beautiful moon paintings on the wall done by a local artist who happened to be there tonight. We enjoyed live jazz (Marlina Teich) here on a Sunday afternoon, while trying the red wine flight (Valravn Pinot Noir, Domaine Moulin Nouvel, Iconic Zinfandel 'Old Gods'), and sharing some small bites, the Moro Melts with roasted tomato. These were way better than I expected, buttery and crisp, a nice crunch with the melted cheese and roasted tomato flavor blended in nicely, kinda like sundried tomatoes which I love, omg I would definitely return just for this. But the wines were decent too, our faves the Valravn Pinot Noir and Domaine Moulin Nouvel (not so much the Zinfandel, which was more subtle). The music was relaxing and added a nice touch to our experience. The employees were friendly and helpful, and provided sufficient service. And the setting was clean, casual and cozy, a welcoming atmosphere with your choice of seating. There's also a couple free parking lots nearby, in the Rockaway Beach Plaza for convenience. read more

Came here because the menu seemed so cute and classy. Based on old Yelp pictures, the prices went up these past few months, which is understandable. However, I feel like the price just wasn't justified for what I was getting. Dessert wine (white port) $12: this was like rubbing alcohol. It had the aftertaste of a shot of vodka and the flavor of the actual grape was not there. I've had better dessert wine in a $10 bottle from BevMo, so this was quite the disappointment. I tried to finish it, but couldn't get myself to drink more than 3 sips. Left the rest. You'll have a much better chance of being satisfied drinking the Sauternes at Calave in Palo Alto. Mixed board $32 charcuterie meats + variety of cheeses: the ONE thing I can appreciate from this board was the local rosemary + orange jam. It was so unique and brought a really great, clean, juicy flavor to the board. The meats were prosciutto and a local salami. Both tasted as expected. The three cheeses included a triple cream Brie, goat cheese, and an imported Spanish cheese. I'm 99% sure this Spanish cheese came straight from the big Costco pack because I get that cheese so often. The flavor, texture, smell, and aesthetic were all that of the cheese pack from Costco. What..? Classic Baked Brie $22: said it was garnished with rosemary, but it wasn't. The honey wasn't drizzled--it was mixed in with the soupy balsamic. The bread was good, like a French baguette they threw in the air fryer. Crispy outer, soft and fluffy inner. Overall, I can't tell if I just chose the wrong wine to try, but it was an OK experience. Attire isn't quite "classy" as expected. The inside looks more like a cozy book + wine club than a fancy dining place. I would come back here on a day with live music or order different wine. read more

Unimpressed as was the focus of the young help who were more interested in themselves than me. So because the kitchen closed early my only choice for supper with them was chocolate cake? Jyeah. What a joy it was to come here and experience A Grape in the Fog in all its glory! My boyfriend and I were itching to have a wine happy hour mid-week, and we found this spot on yelp just minutes before we headed out. Our server Christine was welcoming and attentive, and she made our first time here great. We arrived during happy hour so we opted for the House Wine (a Tempranillo), and loved it so much that we each got a 2nd glass. We paired the wine with a delicious artisanal cheese board. Our favorites were the spreadable Brie and the orange jam. The bread was also to-die-for. They have patio seating and ample indoor seating, both with great ambience. You know how Yelp asks "what's your recent discovery?" A Grape in the Fog is mine for now. It's Fog-ust, and naturally I headed towards the FOG along Hwy 1. I usually go up to Bodega Bay, but there was a dog surfing contest in Pacifica. Traffic was heavier than usual on a Saturday morning, and I missed the contest...there's always next year. I'm also blaming it on retail therapy, as I was too busy shopping in this charming town of Pacifica and reminiscing with locals about the good 'ole days like Play Land at the Beach and It's-It ice cream. I was captivated by the signage "A Grape in the Fog" and basically waited 'til they opened at 2pm (thanks to my trusty Yelp app). How come I didn't think of this ingenious idea, and I grew up in the fog nearby at Ocean Beach? I LOVE the fog! Kudos to the owner; I want to meet her someday. I hear she's busy with her winery in Shasta County on the weekends. The ambiance is delightful with easy listening live music. The staff and patrons are super friendly, not stuck up. I love the flight of bold red wines (you can choose whites as well). There's also port to pair with decadent homemade chocolate cake from a local baker right here in Pacifica. There's a cute patio outside to sit with your four-legged friend(s). I love the chill vibe - welcome to Pacifica! Ladies and gents, get the Fleur de la Mer ~ the hibiscus flower is edible and infused with rhubarb + raspberry with Cava Brut Reserve poured over it (boomerang/video worthy). Wow wow wow. What a gem. We found this place because I was searching for a date place with outdoor seating. We had a wonderful time. I(Covid). I had a wine based margarita drink with wine 'tequilas' that was outstanding. Delicious and light and refreshing. My hobbies had some Champaign and then a French Pinot that was pure silk. The food we chose this visit was meatballs and a baked Brie. Both were delicious. The meatballs are cooked to perfection and topped with some excellent tomato sauce and cheese. The baked Brie had a drizzle of honey and was bathed in a really good balsamic - served with fantastic warm baguette. We can't wait to get back and try other options. I took home a piece of carrot cake which smells heavenly. The staff is super friendly and service was excellent. All around a true five star experience. We plan to become regulars! . read more

I love coming to A Grape In the Fog! The staff is always welcoming and accommodating when possible. I tend to walk here with my older dog and when the weather is nice we can sit outside and enjoy a nice glass of wine and something to nosh on from cheese plates to some filling appetizers like the empanadas or mushroom filo. I also like that they have specialty flights or create your own wine flights. Chatting with the staff is my favorite! They make you feel like family. Happy Hour: Mon - Fri until 6:30pm, Sat 2-5pm *Malbec: Media Luna, Valle de Uco, Mendoza, AR 2013 (6oz glass: $11 regular, $9 happy hour) *Cabernet Sauvignon: Obsidian Ridge, Red Hills, Lake Co, CA 2014 (6oz glass: $16 regular, $14 happy hour) *Truffle and Sea Salt Popcorn ($1) Luckily we made it during HH, so we got $2 off each glass of wine. Cute and cozy wine bar! I've been here twice and had great experiences both times. Ordered the white flight, artisanal cheese plate, and salmon..was pleasantly surprised to find that they honored the happy hour prices even though we were ordered a little bit after the time on the menu. The wine flight was great, and was obsessed with the cheese plate. The salmon we ordered was a little disappointing as I expected it to be smoked salmon pieces.. but rather it more of a blended spread. Probably could've done without ordering it, but my bad for not reading the menu properly! Service was super friendly, but on a Friday afternoon it felt like they were pretty understaffed/busy. However, our waitress was a total sweetheart. Ambiance was great! Definitely an older, more relaxed crowd. Both times we went their was live (country-ish) music. Sooooo sadly I never got to taste anything here, so this isn't an official review based on their tasty sounding wine fights. Yet, as my friend and I found this place around 4p, there was this cute Chevy truck stage setup and an gentleman playing off of it. All the tables were outside and full, yet the 3 servers running around made eye contact with us and never told us what was going on, how we could order or how we signed up to get a table. No communication what so ever. I looked on the ground for markers, with all these Covid times, most businesses have duct tape or arrows directing people where to go and this establishment just seemed to run smoothly without any new people and it's mist.... Now- if it wasn't for another elderly European gentleman and his lady companion, in front of us, I would have said this place seemed a little racist, since my friend and I were the only two not of European descent and no one was helping us or directing us where to go. The elderly gentleman in front of me got annoyed and asked "Have you been here before?" I told him, "No, this is my first time. I'm not too sure what we're supposed to do to get a table and the servers seem too busy to help..... or notice us." He chuckled and said, "It's our first time too and it's about to be our LAST! What the hell? Who runs a business like this? I'd like a glass of wine for my wife and a table, but it looks like we can't even get a MENU!" Finally maybe after 8 mins of confusion a lady came from inside the restaurant portion of the winery and apologized. Apparently it was a wine pick up day as well as reserved tables in the front. So all the tables in the back were full. She also told us they were only 11 tables in total and as soon as the music started, everybody fills up the tables. The gentleman was rather annoyed yet was able to look at a menu his wife shook her head no as she waited about 20 feet away. The entryway in which we were standing was too squished for us to socially distance apart. We had masks on and were vaccinated so I didn't mind. But the older gentleman and his wife seemed to be highly irritated. They looked at the menu and then left. We were given a menu and left as well. The wines did look tasty, but that place was way too packed! In case you visit; and walk up to the front door/entry way and ask for a menu. Or take a table if there's an empty one! No one seems to give directions here and there's no markers or cue cards to tell you what you're supposed to do to place an order or get service. read more
