The pricing felt very reasonable, especially considering the effort and quality put into the food. We ordered a steak medium, but it initially came out well done. When we pointed it out, the staff was incredibly kind and took it back without hesitation. The second time, it still wasn't quite right--but instead of brushing it off, they let us know they had a chef in training and wanted to make sure he got it right. They took it back a third time and even brought in their head chef to oversee the final plate. Their attention to detail and commitment to getting it right made us feel like celebrity guests. As someone who works in the service industry, I really value great service, and Limon absolutely delivered. Jose, the manager, was warm, attentive, and genuinely invested in making sure we had an excellent experience. You can tell he takes pride in his team and leads by example. We ordered their ceviche which is a highlight on their menu and something they're known for. It comes out and I can smell it before it even gets to our table. I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt because maybe I was just especially sensitive to smell that day.. nope. Took one bite and couldn't take another. We called the waiter over and told him that the seafood was not fresh, didn't taste good and asked if we could order something else instead (mind you, at this point we were 2 drinks deep each, and had an upwards of 4-5 light bites at the table). He was hesitant and said, oh.. we can't do that. I said well can I speak to someone else, because this dish should not be consumed and people are going to get sick if they don't know better. Having been to the SF locations many times in years past, my experience of the Burlingame location a couple of times now hasn't been quite as good for some reason. Interestingly enough, I've had several friends echo this sentiment. My most recent visit was for dinner with out-of-towners and we sat inside in by the corner window. One thing we noted was how smoky the restaurant was inside and the fact they only had one of the wide sliding windows open. It also felt quite cramped and chaotic inside the restaurant. Staff seemed always in a rush when they came by, whether it was to take our order, drop our food, or deliver our check. There also seemed to be something going on as one of the staff members kept climbing up on a stand by the front door not far from our table. As for the food, it was good overall, but for some reason, the meal felt overpriced given the experience. Pros: Tasty chicken and tapas, located in downtown Burlingame Ave. Cons: Restaurant ambiance and service felt chaotic, not as good as the SF experience which makes it feel overpriced. read more

Our hubby's had the old fashion which they thoroughly enjoyed. For dinner we shared the whole limon chicken with yucca potatoes and green beans. Chicken was cooked perfectly. Enjoyed the crispy yucca fries and that great yellow dipping sauce. We ordered chicken and beef empanadas to share. They were loaded with meat so we couldn't be happier. The Chappino dish looked amazing. It's not a large entree but the fish was cooked a perfect tender. We loved the broth too. We also had the lengua. The lengua was not as tender as I would have liked. That was why I only gave 4 Stars. Overall the food was good, A little pricey diner cocktails were $15 a piece and entrees ranged over $20 to $30 something. Parents were in town from Hawaii and mom was craving a whole fried fish. Looked on Yelp and Limon popped up on the feed. This restaurant did not disappoint. The whole fish was excellent and came with a delicious tomato based sauce that was light and didnt overpower the fish. It was our first time trying Peruvian food but we were walking around Burlingame and the restaurant looked packed and all the food on the table delicious so we gave it a try! I got the lychee melon cocktail which was amazing! Forgot what my friend got but she liked hers a lot too and they were both beautiful! We ordered the fiesta platter to share which blew our minds. Almost canceling our reunion with coworkers/friends due to bad rain today. But we made it. It was our first time eating at Limon here in Burlingame. But I had eaten in South VanNess in SF. I had a reservation at 12:30 pm but I arrived early. We got our table. I ordered still water while waiting for my friends. I was cruising the menu and they looked delicious. My friends arrived close to the time of our reservation. We ordered the empanadas sampler and drinks. Both friends had glasses of Rose Prosecco and I had a glass of Limon Pico Sour. My friends ordered the same Saltado Vegetariano and I had Picante De Mariscos. The server was nice explaining the difference from the Arros Con Mariscos. I settled with spicy taste (Picante) with steamed rice on the side. The food came almost at the same time. The Peruvian food was super flavorful especially eating it with rice. The staff were nice from the host and servers. I believe that was the restaurant manager who filled water in our glasses. We had the sauce spill on the table and the other guy was nicely wiping the table. The dining room has high ceiling and the space is large enough to entertain diners. Earlier I just noticed when I pulled the seat, it touched the seat of the other table but the man was nice fixing his seat. It was not a troublesome. My friends said they don't mind returning. A little bit better here, made a reservation for 2 and last minute during the day pushed it out an hour and seemed like there were plenty of 2 tops but getting there it was packed, and people were waiting like whoa did I make a reservation at the right location? It was a cozy ambiance, but also super cute and bright, and we got seated right away despite not having a reservation. The menu was huge, and we had a hard time deciding what we wanted because we wanted to try everything. We ended up settling for the La Marinera ceviche and a lomo saltado. The ceviche was so flavorful and bright, it was perfect as a complement to the lomo saltado, which was saltier and heavier and flavor. Both were delicious, and I definitely want to come back to try their other menu options. The beef in the lomo saltado was a bit chewy, but otherwise it was really good. This Limon location has been around for a while and is a bit more cozy compared to their bigger location in Mountain View. I have come here multiple times and each time they have been very consistent on their level of service, quality of food, and ambience. I would highly recomment making a reservation if you want to come during prime dinner hours. It can get pretty packed, so to minimize your chances of waiting, just go online and make a reservation. It is pretty easy to do. Their food and drinks are always on point. Some of my favorites are their ceviche which is always fresh and pairs well with their taro chips, empanadas - my favorite is the mushroom filling, and rotisserie chicken that is cooked to perfection and is so tender and packed with flavor. I recently tried their rib-eye and that was cooked to perfection as well. You can easily get enticed by their menu and make the mistake of over-ordering like my family always does, but we don't mind taking the leftovers over since the food is so delicious. This is a great place to have a birthday dinner, night out with friends, or a date night. I am totally looking forward to their new location that should be opening in Redwood City soon! read more

We came here as a group of 5 on a Friday evening at a little past 9pm but the restaurant was bustling! Here's what my friend and I ordered to share: - TRIO GANADOR $34- it was 3 different types of ceviche and came with a side of taro chips. We loved it so much we paid for extra taro chips - YUCA FRIES $7 - I personally wasn't a big fan of these as they were basically giant potato wedges and had like a cilantro dressing on the bottom. My friend really loved these tho! - ARROZ CON MARISCOS $32- This definitely felt like a paella without the crispy rice from the cask iron since it was plated in a deep bowl/plate(?). This was honestly my favorite dish because of all the seafood and the aromatics in it! - LOMO SALTADO $31 - The name of this dish lived up to its expectation and it was definitely saltier than I expected and tasted like what you can get at a Chinese restaurant. Finally tried out Limon, and it was amazing Peruvian food! Came on a weekday night and got quickly seated, even though they seemed busy. We ordered the roasted chicken, tacu tacu, and polli pappas. That roasted chicken was so good! Incredibly tasty and well seasoned, and the meat was not dry. The lemon mustard sauce was also the perfect compliment to the chicken and was very addicting. I can see why it's such a popular dish to order! Tacu tacu was also very good, and I love the texture of the pan-fried rice with beans. Finally, the polli pappas were good too. The chicken thighs were nice and crispy, although a little on the dry side for me. Also paired well with their lemon mustard sauce. Not sure that I can comment on the service since... it felt like we barely saw our waiter. He came once to clear out a plate we had finished. You walk in and check in with the host. Our host wasn't the friendliest nor did she call us when our table was ready (by Yelp waitlist, or anything). We actually were so cold from waiting outside that we went in to check on our table and a different host immediately sat us. There's lots of tables. Ambiance is loud. Lots of shouting over the table if you're trying to hold a convo. We ordered: - Ceviche with taro chips - 24-hour stewed beef, served on purée potatoes Before our food even came, we were asked to write them a 5-star Yelp review. Kinda strange considering we just sat down and have nothing but water. Ceviche + taro chips were good. The beef was drenched in sauce but still dry. One of the servers came over to check in and asked us to write a Yelp review. He offered in exchange that we write him a review that he would comp our dessert. He even brought over an old receipt with his name on it so we could know how to spell his name for the Yelp review. So we ordered a Tres Leches cake. Anyway, so our bill comes with a different server. We explained we were told we'd have comped dessert. He laughed and said "If you want that dessert discount, you have to ask him" LOL. He walked away and started laughing with the other servers about it. Kinda awkward. So we paid in full. Another employee (not in server uniform) shortly after, walks over asking us to write a 5-star Yelp review. But this felt very pressured? We always order the Polli-papas as an appetizer but we also got an order of ceviche (I can't recall which one exactly but it was a spicy one) as well. From my understanding Limon & Peruvian restaurants in general have amazing ceviche and I was not disappointed. The seafood all tasted fresh & the plate had nice kick of spice, but still maintained an excellent flavor. I ordered the half chicken with a side salad & sweet potato fries and each item was SPECTACULAR. I always know I can expect an excellent meal here & I'm glad Limon came through as well.
