There has been a known rodent problem since September that management has failed to properly address or communicate to tenants. Several of my belongings were damaged, and others exposed to mice excrement as pictured. The only response from management has been to place glue traps, which do nothing to resolve the larger issue. When I requested to move units because of the infestation, I was initially offered a new one at a higher rate, which I found shocking and poor customer service, and then moved to another unit on the same floor--only to find that one quickly infested as well. Despite acknowledging the rodent issue, management offered no meaningful assistance or compensation beyond insurance that didn't cover the extent of the damage. This experience was extremely disappointing. Avoid storing your items here, and if you are currently stored on the 3rd floor, I would strongly suggest checking your items for signs of rodents.

This storage facility appears to be fairly well-kept. It's very clean, has cameras everywhere, and…read moreaccess codes are required to get into the storage area, to access upper storage levels. Construction of the facility makes perfect sense. The main office is located on the first floor, next to three large garage doors. You can back vehicles into the garage bay to unload, out of any inclement weather. Each bay door can be individually opened via keypad access code. There are also two sliding doors--one inside the garage bay, and the other on the opposite side of the building. Both require an access code. Near each entrance is an elevator. Individual floors, other than the first, are restricted by access code. There are also a few carts available for customer use. There appear to be at least 4 storage floors. Customer access is from 6am to 9pm. The managing staff are onsite. The storage units and each floor appear to be quite pristine. Climate control is set to keep the storage facility between roughly 65F and 78F. For newer rented units, they are transitioning to cylinder lock and key; no more lock combinations to remember or pad locks. The facility requires you to insure the belongings that you wish to store. They will automatically enroll you in an insurance policy at $12 a month for $2000 coverage. However, if you have your own insurance (e.g. renters) that covers property in storage, you can provide them a declarations page, and they will accept that. Other than that, there are one time fees for a lock (if you don't have a cylinder lock of your own) and an administrative setup fee. Rent is prorated for the move-in month, and then turns into month-to-month. So that means if you have to move out, move out by the last day of the month, otherwise you'll be charged for another month if you still occupy the unit on the 1st of the next month. Finally, there appears to be at least 4 pricing tiers for identical units, based on location in the storage facility. So you may wish to check out multiple units and their locations within the facility that strikes a balance between desired size, location, and price. Overall: well-designed, secure, and well-maintained.

The gentleman that assisted us were very welcoming and friendly and they had a great promotion for a 5x10 storage for $49 a month so we took it! Also, we had our u-haul trailer that needed to get dropped off at another location, but we were able to drop it off at Storage Max which saved us time and made it so much easier! I was combining households with another family member so we were working with having to fit my furniture into her existing home and they were able to make it work which I thought was going to be impossible! We also had some items that needed to be hauled away and when I asked if they had a referral for me, Jonathan (the owner) offered to give us a quote on those items so we could have them removed that day as well. In addition to all of the amazing service that we received, they were by far the best value without all of the crazy tacked on fees that so many movers put on a move. Sadly, this location raised our rates repeatedly, the last increase was to an eye-watering $176…read moreincluding tax for a 10 X 10 unit, and it started out much cheaper. On the bright side, this forced us to seriously consider whether we wanted to spend money storing stuff we were not using (mostly extra dining chairs and holiday decorations). Their website says 10 X 10 would cost under $100, but staff said that was for new customers. New customers -- be aware that once you move all your stuff to the unit, there will be repeated price increases. We asked staff about a less expensive unit (5 X 5) and were shown a terrible unit with a large pole that took up about 1.5 X 1.25 of the space in the unit. This made our decision easy, but that decision was even easier as the gentleman showing us the unit said these units were going fast, this Cubesmart was a prime location, etc. etc. Please. We were also told we needed to "broom sweep" the unit when we moved out, then they backed down when I pointed out that the unit was not swept when we moved into the unit (in spite of the sign on the wall stating it had been swept). On the bright side, the place was clean and climate controlled and had a massive generator. For this reason, I am giving two stars instead of one star. Still, there are so many other climate controlled self storage options in the Austin area. I would avoid this place just because of the price increases. For $176 a month, we should expect a working keypad for access to the unit. Better yet, sell or donate stuff you don't need or want. Read some Don Aslett for inspiration. For example, we somehow had THREE artificial Christmas trees in our unit, for example. Why? Each was a different size and it was easier to just put them in the storage unit instead of facing up and donating and selling two of the trees and putting one tree in our garage. That is just one example of the sort of stuff we are decluttering.

Not the worst but needs improvement.. the facility is mostly nice but there are some big issues…read morethat need to be resolved. The concrete around the sliding doors is all busted up and it makes it very difficult to roll something heavy with casters. They put some wood down but its loose and a major tripping hazard.
