I recently moved back to Austin Area and rented the climate control storage in September 2021 and the rates were around $170.00 per month and just received December 2021 letter to notify me that rent will increase another 50.00...so I went to the office and spoke with the new manager (Christopher Dantzler) and could not assist me with the lower rates....so I ask him regarding senior citizens discount (so he took off 5% which is $15.00), I guess it's better than nothing. At least he tried and he was very pleasant, professional, and have the most infectious smiles when I walked in the door. This place was nice before Extra Space purchased it. As other members say, Extra Space can input a rent increase for your unit before they notify you. As an example, if you pre-pay your rent for a year, Extra Space will input a rate increase so that you can't pre-pay again at the current rate before rent is due. I would recommend customers contact the Better Business Bureau to lodge a complaint so this can be looked into. read more

The set up is very simple, I purchased the unit and was able to move in immediately. The building is well maintained and clean.

Questionable business practices. The rent doubled out of the blue on the third month without any notification at all. Luckily I happened to notice the increase in my credit card. Shady tactics doubling your rent to $200 a few months after you move in, considering that's when you'll likely have it packed and not want to move your stuff a second time. However, I'll gladly move all of my things to a more honest business. Very limited parking as well. read more

I rented from Extra Space Storage from November 2016 till now. On my last visit to the storage unit I found that the entire unit was covered floor to ceiling in rat poop and pee. They even included a rotting rat. After spending $7,255 I had to throw everything inside the unit away. Upon talking to the manager at the facility he told me they were aware of the issue and that they had a bunch of units that had the same issue. They had a renter that was storing protein powder that attracted the rats. I never received any notification from the facility about this issue. When I asked about getting a refund they told me to talk to their legal time. It's amazing to me how once companies reach a certain size they don't seem to have any accountability or customer service. The one I rented from was 3621 E. Whitestone Blvd Cedar Park TX 78613. Can not speak highly enough about Chris and his team at the Cedar Park/Whitestone location. We recently transitioned from our house in Georgia to full time RVers and centralized all of our storage in Texas. Chris helped us to virtually secure our storage unit to ensure we had a smooth move in and effortlessly moved us to a bigger unit when we realized the first was too small. I have used my fair share of storage units but this place is mouse infested and disgusting. We had not visited our unit for about a month and a half. When we did, there was mouse feces and urine everywhere as well as most of our things were chewed on. It's disgusting. So disappointed. Moving and getting stuff to the storage can be stressful. Made an appointment with ExtraSpace, and by the time I parked my car, the store manager Christina was already standing outside welcoming me. Her friendly and genuine demeanor immediately lift my spirit. She remembered everything we had discussed on the phone the day prior and showed me the unit right away. The entire process was not only pleasant, but Christina shared ways to protect items I plan to store. Although it was just renting a storage unit, I was treated like a VIP. The entire place is also super clean, no weird smells. It's not dark and creepy either. So, I have a several spaces there for well over a year now. The place has been in a downward spiral for about the last year. The elevator hasn't worked at times. There are now rats. And to top it off, it's a "climate controlled" facility, which over the last 5-6 weeks, the temperature has been steadily rising. When I ask about it, I get the standard line of, "it's getting replaced next week". Well, since I started renting, the temp has gone up, and so has my rent. I asked for an adjustment on my rent, and the manager said that my rent was already at a good rate, and dismissed me. I'm forking out over $500 a month for three units, you'd think they would want to keep their customers somewhat happy. Nope. If you are still considering renting there, just go tour the facility first, and make sure you go upstairs in the area above the office. You'll see that I'm not just a disgruntled renter. read more

CAUTION...Extra Space Storage will raise your rates based on occupancy, so if they get more clients, they will raise your rates every 6 months. Instead of taking care of their customers, they use them to make more money so they can offer lower rates for new customers.
