Leone's just started having brunch and let me tell you something right now...the brunch is AMAZING. As in, probably the best brunch in our area going. They do their eggs benedict with polenta and it's so much better than an English muffin...easier on their pallet and more flavorful. Their french toast and pancake choices looked divine, but I'm worried I may never get to try them because I'm so enamored with the Molto Benny (eggs benedict with lime, avocado, and more). Plus, the owner Michael Leone is a really stand-up wonderful guy, and he personally checks on you and makes sure you're having an amazing meal. If you want a real quality brunch with a nice atmosphere that isn't packed to the hilt, this is your place. read more

Their food is good but their service is horrible. I have been here twice, the first time the waitress forgot to put my order in and the second time she got my order wrong. They don't pay attention to what you say and they rarely come to ask if you need anything. Both times I went during the day and the palace was empty so they can't blame it on being busy. BYOB!!! go to the liquor store around the corner before you go. It is a casual atmosphere. The portions were generous (wear your fat pants!), and everything was very tasty. I went with a group and we ordered a mushroom pizza, calamari(ginger), soup(butternut squash?) pastas, and chicken dishes. Everyone was happy with the food, and we had left overs. Arrived 7pm for an Outpost in the Burbs show at 8. The owner took considerate interest in making sure the hostess knew that and they really made it happen. So 4 stars for that effort. Busy place, can only say the other entrees and pizza orders looked great. Was told to order pasta, that was the quickest dish with our time constraints. A Spinach salad, nicely dressed was a good starter, the pasta was al dente perfect wit shrimp in a very tasty cream sauce. Recommended highly. They even have a wine delivery system to make up for the BYOB who forgot to BYOB. Within minutes, no kidding, hung up and the delivery was there, 1/2 bottles reasonably priced a real plus feature. Well this is just what I had hoped for. An Italian restaurant that delivers traditional food with great service. Started with the spinach bruschetta and arugula salad followed by shrimp parmigiana and the veal special. The food was plentiful and delicious. It pains me to say that this was a below expectations experience for me, I was quite excited for this experience but disheartened by the results. We ordered three waters and a Diet Coke for the table and the water looked like dish water and the soda was flat. As we drank our dish like water we watched a waitress spill water at the table next to us and act like nothing happened. The pizza was also below my expectations, truly a saddening experience. We also asked for ketchup for our fries but we finished them before it even got there. I was skeptical at first, but I am definitely a fan of this place. The decor is deceiving for the quality of entrees they put out. Their Orecchiette Bolognese is a true stand out! a true Bolognese sauce which is mainly meat based, not just a tomato sauce with some meat thrown into it. I just happened to be in from out of town and decided to try this place. I had a chicken and pasta dish that was pretty good, I think its the best Ive had in a long while. The chicken was tender and not stringy and the pasta was cooked and seasoned just right. The service was pretty good, I did have to wait for a refil but other than that it was great. Great staff, you are never in a rush when you are seated (even when it is close to close!). From the pizza to the salad and entrees, everything is authentic, simple and delicious. At first when you walk in you think this will be a run of the mill pizza place. but glance to the right and there is a larger than expected dining room, with another almost party type room attached. The decor is, interesting to say the least but not off putting at all. Funny thing is even though it is a pizza place none of us had the pizza that night. We started with the calamari and we got both hot and sweet sauce to go with. The calamari itself was great, lightly battered and cooked to perfection, certainly not greasy and heavy that leads to the impending icky feeling in your stomach one can get from eating overcooked calamari . As for the sauce I liked the sweet alone better than the hot, however if you mix the two it was great, the hot in my opinion is not spicy really but has more of that red pepper flake flavor, but then again I like pretty spicy food so test it out to make sure it is within your threshold before piling it on. Our entrees were, Lobster Ravioli, which was a special that day, Stuffed flounder, and Rigatoni Leone. I didn't try the ravioli myself but heard it was really good but I mean how can you really go wrong with lobster ravioli?!?!?! The Rigatoni was amazing, the sauce was so light compared to the usual heavy vodka sauce that you typically find, and I will say the Mozzarella on the top had a slight tang to it that made it seem like it was actually home made, whether it actually was, I can not attest to. The stuffed flounder was good I actually really enjoyed the stuffing but the fish itself left a little bit to be desired, but then again it was flounder so I shouldn't have expected too much from it. The fish itself want bad I personally think the fish would have worked better with a lighter flavored fish maybe halibut or scrod or something like that, but then again that is just my opinion. It was fresh but had some bones in it, I am not sure if it was brought in already filleted (sp?) or if it was done in house, so not exactly sure who to blame for that (granted it wasn't a huge deal at all). I did really enjoy the stuffing itself, you could really taste the crab (looked and tasted real and was a far cry from imitation which is always a plus,i hate when restaurants say crab and you see the fakey imitation in your dish) and shrimp so it wasn't all breading with one shrimp and a piece of fake crab thrown in. The white wine sauce that went with it which was once again light and savory not overly buttery at all, just soaked in to the breading at the bottom and made the last few bites so satisfying! All in all it was a good meal, our service was ok and more attentive than some of the other posts put but I wont say it was spot on excellent, and at times we had to seek our server or whoever we could flag down to get water or drink refills, however the food was good enough that it definitely made up for the spotty service. read more

Ate here tonight and I thought the food was decent enough for the prices. Montclair has better restaurants but I would come back here for Sure. The Italian bread put on the table was not the freshest and a little disappointing. The spinach salad with goat cheese, cranberries and vinaigrette dressing was very good. Additionally, I had the CAPPELINI ANGELICA- with mushroom, broccoli rabe and goat cheese in pink sauce which was very good. Service was friendly but very slow. Oh my goodness, the lasagna was fantastic! I went here for a dinner, by myself on a nice summer evening and I will definitely be back. This place is great! Affordable and excellent food. The manager Michael was very VERY helpful one night when I had a dinner party waiting for Cuban Petes down the street. My boyfriend and I saw Leone's on a rerun of kitchen nightmares. Needless to say, we wanted to try it! His mom and sister came to visit and we went here for lunch. I ordered the chicken fettuccine Alfredo. The chicken was really good! His sister ordered the same and enjoyed it. His mom ordered the lasagna which looked unappealing to me but she said it tasted good. My boyfriend got the rigatoni di manzo and it was really good. The sauce had a lot of flavor and the meat was tender. The service wasn't bad. Our waitress, Dana, was great! She was kind and attentive. The food was alright but the service was horrible. Our waitress forgot what we ordered and we had to keep reminding her to check on our food. And all the waiters need to learn how to pour water.
