This was a really nice Italian restaurant. It feels like an elevated pizzeria. You order and pay at the counter and then the food comes to you. The pizza was delicious! The shrimp and calamari appetizer was delicious. Free parking in the lot.

Truffle carbonara - A white bowl contains a serving of pasta with a creamy sauce, topped with grated cheese and black pepper. Small pieces of bacon are visible around the pasta, and the dish is placed on a wooden table. The background shows a blurred napkin and other table items.

Got this truffle carbonara it's amazing. It's a seasonal special. You can smell the truffle aroma instantly when it comes I love how crispy the bacon is I could eat 1 million of it overall would highly recommend it so creamy gooey without the truffle being so overwhelming the vibe is so cute inside it's a good date spot. And service was so fast.

We were in the area and were looking for a good casual place to eat and stumbled upon Boschetto. This super modern and clean Italian restaurant located on Grove street offers a counter service. When you enter you place your order, take a number and pick where you'd like to sit. They do offer high chairs and have a kids pasta menu (you just have to ask). We ordered the arugula salad, zucchini chips, calamari platter, a pasta and pizza to try. The arugula salad was great, it was zesty and fresh. The zucchini chips (zucchine frite) was my absolute favorite of the meal. The chips were so delicious and I hate zucchini. The sauce resembles a hummus but it was zesty and sour. The calamari platter had calamari, shrimp, and zucchini with a marinera sauce. I think it just needed to be a little saltier and it would have been perfect because the crispiness was there. The amatriciana pasta was also good, the server recommended it. It was a little spicy and very flavorful. We tried the summer special pizza, I forget the name but it has peach and prosciutto topped with arugula and hot honey. It was very refreshing, a bit of sweetness and spice. They make the bread in house and it was perfectly made. No complaints at all. There is a free parking lot right next to the restaurant. The bathroom is spotless too! Very well maintained and the waiters are very sweet.

Boschetto has been one of my favorite restaurants in Montclair ever since it opened. I have visited more than a handful of times for lunch and I'm always excited to try something new while always going back to my favorites. I highly recommend Boschetto for anyone who is thinking about visiting. I will also continue to return time after time.

Cute spot with great menu options including freshly made pasta! I enjoyed my bucatini, super flavorful and the smoky guanciale was the perfect complement. I'd love to come again and try their other pastas and pizzas too. The fast casual service makes the dining experience more convenient, making it a perfect spot for lunch or a more casual dinner. There's a parking lot available but it does fill up quick as there's other tenants in the building. But there's easy, free street parking available nearby!

Funghi - A close-up of a pizza topped with sliced mushrooms and microgreens, featuring a golden-brown crust with a slightly puffed edge. The pizza is served on a plate, placed on a wooden table, with a person in a gray shirt visible in the background. The setting appears to be a casual dining environment.

Quick, fresh, and flavorful with no compromises made on execution. We stopped by for an early dinner. Order at the register and plop your number on your table. The place is BYOB and has some other non alcoholic beverage options to choose from. Small-ish space mix of small two seater booth area and some four tops; with outdoor patio for a nice day. Menu is clear, and a good balance of options for each category. 5/5 Vitello Tonato: We opted for the veal which I didn't realize was more of a carpaccio style- DELISH loved all the different texture elements and the flavor profile was well balanced. Simple and delightful. I'm always a fan of a dish where everything has a purpose- not just aesthetics. 5/5 Amatriciana: pasta we ordered the bucatini, el dente perfection with not too much sauce and a little kick of chili. Comfort bowl of goodness. 3/5 Funghi pie, I took away stars more from a personal preference I actually prefer a white pie for this and it had a little sauce that didn't do it for me and micro greens that had amazing freshness but it overpowered it just a tad- again for me personally. Dough was perfection and mushrooms were YUM and plentiful. I would definitely try another option next time. Service was friendly, quick and dishes were piping hot! Fresh ingredients and just felt like Italian comfort in a bowl. Small parking lot for the plaza which hosts other stores along with street parking.

Quick and easy ordering experience. My husband and I tried the meatballs and Boschetto Pizza. The space was small but inviting and comfortable. It was pretty busy on Saturday but we were able to find a table. The meatballs were delicious. Pizza was good. Would definitely return to try more items!

A white plate holds two chicken parmigiana wraps, cut in half to reveal the breaded chicken, cheese, and sauce inside. A small metal bowl of pickled vegetables is placed behind the wraps. The meal is served on a wooden table, with a glass of water and a dark-colored drink visible in the background.

Food was mediocre, pasta was cold & flavorless! Waste of time & MONEY. I asked for the first picture I wanted that chicken with the cheese on top, but instead I got those red tasteless chicken that I ate because I was already $45 dollars in. Total of my dinner with my family ? $150 including tip . Save yall money not worth it at all

A white bowl with a blue rim contains a serving of risotto, garnished with fresh green herbs and a dollop of cheese on top. The dish appears creamy and is drizzled with oil or broth. The presentation is simple, highlighting the ingredients. The background shows part of a glass and another bowl, indicating a dining setting.

Come for Sunday brunch. Asking for table for 6, waitress tells us to order in advance. Alright! we order close to $150 when we pay the POS ask for tipping without any serving. For the courtesy we give 20% & expected a good service in return. However the service was horrendous, they place us a table near entrance across the kitchen and multiple customers walked by, we request change of table & they are unwilling. We asked for wine glasses multiple times & service bear none. The saving grace, the food is decent but unable to tolerate a poor service. Now I understand why they ask people to pay tips in advance because they don't deserve any. We shouldn't pay any tip when people eat at food court.

Pizza - A pizza with a thick, slightly charred crust is displayed on a stand outdoors. It is topped with melted cheese, small pieces of meat, and garnished with herbs. The setting includes a wooden table, a green bottle, and other dishes partially visible. The background shows outdoor seating with black chairs and a brick wall.

Rlly good fast casual Italian food. Delicious mussels and big portion of them too. Ribeye steak was extremely tender. I enjoyed the sardines on the salad, was lemony. 5/5 highly recommend this spot

A plated seafood dish includes a piece of grilled fish or shellfish placed on a bed of chopped vegetables such as peppers and possibly beans, with a sauce underneath. The dish is garnished with microgreens on top. The presentation is on a large white plate, with a wooden table and glasses visible in the background.

New Italian restaurant in Montclair! They've only been open for 6 months so everything looks pretty new. It's a more casual place because they take your order and you pay ahead in the front before seating yourself in the back. The noodle dishes were really good and well seasoned! Tasted very authentic and fresh. I hadn't tasted pasta like that in a very long time. We were told that the pasta noodles were imported from Italy! They are located next to an Italian market so that makes them even more legit! Would come back to try other dishes.

Gnocco Fritto

We tried this spot for takeout on a weekend night. We ordered via slice and got there about 5 mins after the order was scheduled to be ready. The food was ready but unfortunately the pizza was cold by the time we got it home. The pizza was meh, nothing too special. We also tried the Gnocco Fritto ($9) which were large pieces of fried bread. Delicious but a small portion for the price. We also tried the meatballs ($16) and the vongole pasta ($21). Both of these dishes were warm, well flavored, and fresh. The vongole was particularly well cooked and had a nice portion of clams. Based on the reviews - I'd stick to eat in.

A white plate holds several pieces of fried pastry with a dusting of powdered sugar, filled with chocolate and possibly nuts. A small metal cup containing dark syrup is placed on the plate. The plate is on a wooden table, with a knife and a fork visible nearby.

By no means does Montclair have a shortage of restaurants to choose from. I am excited that Boschetto has joined the fold. Here's the scoop, Boschetto is an elegant, modern yet casual place to indulge in Italian fare. Great for dinner with the family or catching up with friends. You can grab a table that suits you, head to the counter to order, pay & tip, take a number and unwind until your food arrives. No pretentiousness vibes here as it's not your typical lunch or dinner service, so just chill. The food taste great and you can tell it is made with quality ingredients, flavorful and its prepared pretty quickly. You are not assigned a server so don't be shy to wave someone over if you need anything. Best part is not extending your visit by having to wait for the back and forth theatrics of waiting for your check and having to pay. You are in control at Boschetto, leave at your leisure but be kind when it's a full house so others can enjoy as well. Only awkward kink here for me is trying to pronounce things on the menu, I'm sure I sound silly but as long as the counter staff can finish my sentence that works. Enjoy or shall I say Gustare!

Guy seemed overwhelmed and reluctantly took my order. I showed up 30 min later and no one had any record of my order. I recognized the guy's voice and told him he took my order. He was pissed and got into a shouting match with me with 3 other customers around. He eventually apologized and offered a free side of meatballs and spaghetti (don't order that btw, super underwhelming). 2nd time: Wife placed an order for a pie with half pepperoni on their website. Came back with the order and the pie had full toppings. Small nit but annoying. 3rd time: I called at 6pm on a Thursday. No one picked up. Opted to place order on their website and got the same item as last time. Showed up at and the same miserable guy asked for my name and order... and then said he didn't have any order. I told him I placed an order on the website... and he said "You should have called." with an awful (only a mother can love) grin. I showed him my email confirming 6:20pm pickup time and he said he had no order... before pulling a pie with my name on it. I asked if it had half pepperoni and it didn't. Full toppings AGAIN. Clearly, their website is not equipped to actually take half toppings orders. Pizza is OK but not worth the headache or poor service here.

We spotted Blue Steel which had good, modern curb appeal to our hungry tummies. It looks like downtown Bloomfield is having a moment with some new condos and nicer restaurants coming in. Thanks, gentrification!? Inside has a clubby, bar vibe and we were seated at a hightop near the bar. I love a good wedge salad. I prefer the classic but I appreciate BSP's variation that has tomato, cucumbers, crispy frizzled onions, feta cheese, homemade ranch dressing, and everything sprinkle seasoning. It was generously sized and refreshing. And there's nothing but good things to say about the Detroit-style ezzo pepperoni pie, except that i wish I had a bigger stomach to eat MORE. After the salad (shared), I was only able to manage one slice, but it was a happy slice. My first time trying Detroit-style and it didn't disappoint. PS: There's a tiny, very lumpy and bumpy parking lot in the back that is very tricky to maneuver back out of. If it hadn't been for an Uber driver who got briefly trapped back in there with me, I might still be there today

As the third-largest producer of tomatoes in the entire country, this key pizza-making ingredient not only sets New Jersey's classic 'tomato pies' apart from any ordinary pizza. This 10,000-square-foot, two-story establishment with a neon-lit sign on Glenwood Ave in Bloomfield asks, "Just another pizzeria?" They also house a 20-seat speakeasy that's open Thursday through Saturday called the Rab.bit Hole that can be found upstairs behind a hidden entrance. Opened in 2020, Blue Steel Pizza Company is the answer and should become obvious after looking at the menu. A reservation was easily made via Resy. My partner and I were greeted at the host station and got a regular table in the 1st-floor dining room by the pizza oven in the middle. The vibe was modern and industrial. Patrons had to use their phone flashlights to read the menu as the lighting was pretty dim. They are known for their Detroit-style pizza--a pie baked in a rectangular, traditionally blue-steel pan, the kind once used by autoworkers. It's made with a blend of mozzarella cheese and traditional Wisconsin brick cheese that melts down the side of the pie, making for a burnt, gooey, cheesy crust. It's cold-fermented for three days and is closer to sourdough. It has real flavor and an airier texture. It's like a lighter version of a Sicilian with a buttery crust. As a starter, we decided on the Chopped Salad. For our main entrée, we opted for the Jersey Tomato Pizza Pie. Portions run big enough for sharing, and we downed them with the 1911 Cider. The pizza crust was light, airy, and crispy with the right amount of fresh ingredients, making the ensemble tastefully delicious. The staff was attentive, friendly, and accommodating, and our server was Adam. The price was comparable to the area. We had a wonderful experience and would recommend this place.

Moments later, we were in the capable and charismatic hands of Maya, our server. She brought not just efficiency, but real joy to the table: quick wit, a warm and friendly vibe, and an infectious passion for the food that made every recommendation feel personal and sincere. Hospitality like hers elevates a meal from good to memorable. We began with the Caesar salad, and it was exactly what a Caesar should be: crisp, balanced, and perfectly executed, with that ideal punch of garlic, anchovy, and Parmesan. No missteps here this was textbook excellence. Next came the meatballs, and they were glorious enormous, tender orbs that instantly transported me back to Sunday dinners at my grandmother's table. Generous in size and soulful in flavor, they were everything you want in a classic Italian meatball. The accompanying tomato sauce was nothing short of velvety luxury: smooth, rich, deeply savory, and so delicious I found myself sneaking extra spoonfuls just to savor it. On a whim, I requested a side of the short rib ragu, and it proved to be one of the standout moments of the night. Braised to fall apart tenderness in what I can only describe as an osso buco style preparation, it mirrored the kind of slow cooked, soul warming short ribs I make at home only better. The depth of flavor was top notch, luxurious without being heavy. For the main event, I went with the chicken Parmesan, and let me tell you; it was the bomb-diggity of chicken parms. Massive in portion (honestly, almost comically large), it arrived golden and crisp on the outside, juicy within, blanketed in that same magnificent tomato sauce and a generous snowfall of melted cheese. Every bite was pure comfort and satisfaction. Congratulations to the kitchen this is how chicken Parm should be done. A lovely surprise came when the chef himself stopped by the table to say hello. That personal touch, combined with the restaurant's charming ambiance lush hanging vines draping overhead like a cozy Italian garden created a wonderfully inviting and relaxed vibe that made the whole experience feel special. I left with generous leftovers, already plotting to pair the short rib ragu with fresh pappardelle pasta at home. From the warm welcome to the passionate service and soul satisfying plates, this was a thoroughly wonderful evening. If you're craving authentic Italian American comfort food served with heart, this place delivers in spades. Highly recommended.
