I recently dined at Bucco in Bloomfield with two friends and had a pleasant evening. We started with the bruschetta, which was delicious! Both of my friends ordered the cream of mushroom soup and said it was the best they had ever tasted--a definite highlight of the meal. Bread was provided at the table, although it would have been even better served warm. We decided to skip the entrees, the starters were quite filling. For dessert, the three of us shared a slice of cheesecake, which was just the right size for sharing, although it was a little on the dry side. The only real downside was the smell of whatever was used to clean the tables. It was quite unpleasant and off-putting, which took away from the otherwise enjoyable atmosphere. A decently sized Italian restaurant with polite servers and food that tastes good. The restaurant has a very modern design. Pricing had all of the entrees in the $30 range, with some specials up to $40 and most of the appetizers ~$15. I had the Pecan Crusted Chicken which was fantastic. It came with grilled Asian pears and a melted Brie on top of the chicken which was paired very well with the pecans. It was a great dish. Terrible experience. I went on a whim with a friend who wanted to try it out. What harm right? How wrong I was! The food was just awful. The meat had a funny smell ;you know that funky smell you get with old meat? Yeah, there it was. The vegetables were limp and lifeless. The service was the worst of it. We waited forever for a seat only to have the menus tossed at us as that person walked away. When a waiter finally came by, it was very 'what do you want? Stop wasting my time' attitude. Forget about questions. No no no. If you arent a regular than sucks to be you. They Clearly had favorites based on intersctions with a nearby table. When i got my meal and brought uup the fact that I asked for an ingredient to be taken off (note, not substituted, just not on the dish), the server grabs my dish harshly and mutters a racial slur. I was furious but just wanted to get through the meal without further incident. I had already decided i would never come back and I would never recommend thiis place to anyone. It was just so unpleasant, you couldnt pay me to go again. If you dontgett food poisoning from their rancid ingredients, your mood will certainly decay within a matter of minutes by being there. We came here as part of a food tour that was hosted by the Bloomfield center. They had the air conditioning going which felt amazing as it was so hot that day. Jennifer the owner could not have been more lovely and accommodating. It's a cute little spot in Bloomfield and the food was delicious. They have some good options to pick from and we got to try penne vodka and mozzarella and Carozza. We enjoyed everything we ate! Finally came here since I was a big fan of the original Buco in Clifton. The location is easy to get to in a newer, up and coming part of Bloomfield, with an indoor parking garage across the street. The restaurant decor is very modern and open. Beautiful wood tables and you do not feel crowded. The menu was eclectic, I had the burrata and my fiancé had the Asian Pear salad, both were excellent! I had the baked rigatoni and she had the haddock, again, terrific! Tiramisu and a Cappuccino for dessert equals an awesome dining experience. The staff are very friendly and attentive. They are also a BYOB which is nice. My only minor critique, they have a television in the dining room playing the Food Network, I would expect this in a bar, but not in a beautiful restaurant, it was frankly distracting and unnecessary. Nice quiet place in Bloomfield. The clams oreg was amazing. The Lemon sauce with it was great I soaked the bread in it. The fish was great. It was the same sauce as the clams. Ok this is the Real Deal it is sir family style. We go as a big family and we get the cheese raviolis. Oh my God so good we get the spaghetti and meatballs, so big and so good you get bread butter we have had the fettuccine the servers there are really great. The birthday ice cream comes in 12 scoops, and it's really good. We went for my daughters birthday. And I'm going there this weekend again love it the servers there are really friendly and willing to go that extra mile. I'd like to give 1 star for my most recent experience but the last time I was here it was a pretty good overall experience. This particular review is for those looking to visit on a Friday night in the summer. Unfortunately, it took 2hrs!!!! for guests to get there food. Not just us. I don't know if they were short staffed or what but no explanation was given about why we were experience such delays. Felt bad for the servers but they did themselves no favors. They forgot to bring out more water when asked, didn't bring out more bread until asked (1:30 into dinner reservation), and did not seem to care to communicate what the hell was going on. To make matters worse, the managing partner or owner seemed to also be quite alright with what was transpiring. Sat down at 7pm, didn't even get asked for our order until nearly 7:45 and our plates touched our table at 9:20. Absolutely one of the worst service experiences I've ever been a part of. Food was as expected for the most part aside from the burnt (not blackened) piece of chicken that was added to my risotto. No discount or other complementary service/product was offered. I hope they use the unwarranted tip that was given to help fund kitchen assistance and server training. This type of issue begins at the top though. I usually take pictures of the food but I was so pissed off. Can't believe I still tipped 15% and it's going to be extremely hard to go back to this establishment. To save on pricing, they outsource liquor/wine to a local place that delivers in literally 3 minutes -- so no outrageous drinks pricing. Omg !!! So this small unassuming side street of a place turned out to be a hidden treasure! Compliments to the chef who heard the 2 of us order and confirmed we did the right thing by ordering the artichoke appetizer and the side meatballs!! Wow to flavor ! I ordered the Chicken Parmesan with pasta and it was delicious!!!! The chicken was nice, thick and juicy. The red sauce was excellent. My boyfriend was not happy that each Chicken Parmesan was $24 dollars but I thought it was very tasty. The only reason I would agree with him is that the pasta portion was very small and this is way I didn't give it 5 stars. But it's worth a try for sure read more
