I came in to H mart with my friends to check out the food court. It was very crowded with all the tables basically taken. They have seats to eat in for people eating there and the restaurants surrounding. It is good that they have. A system that calls out where the food you ordered came from and a number is on the screen. When I saw the Chicken Wing place, I was gravitated to order their Ginger and Honey Wings. I asked the cashier which one was best or she liked and she said it depends on your taste on whether you like it dried or with sauce. I opted for with sauce which was the 8 wings for $16.99. I USED to love Aria until I personally saw unsanitary packing of my side order of rice immediately after touching the trash can; then later the owner saying they reviewed the tape and still denying that it happened. (Maybe that's a perk of ordering delivery, so you never have to witness... sometimes ignorance is bliss.) I was really sad about not being comfortable frequenting them anymore... until I found Left Wing. Left Wing's batter is far superior--light, tasty (even sauceless), and consistently crispy, compared to Aria's very thick sometimes goopy batter. I did appreciate Aria's generous saucing; Left Wing usually does a good job at saucing, though 20% of the time doesn't give enough sauce. Though I think Left Wing's sweet & spicy sauce is more nuanced with seasoning--a tad more elevated, and additionally garnished with herbs and sesame seeds. ONLY get their sweet & spicy (gochujang base). Their soy garlic seems like a very liquidy marinade rather than a sauce, and will quickly get your wings soggy if you don't dine in the H-Mart food court. I prefer boneless for ease of eating, and they're still pretty consistently tender. A medium size ($17, includes 1 side) usually feeds both the hubby and I. Though if I get a large ($27, includes 2 sides), the hubby will still finish most of it anyway because those wings are so tasty. I've been regularly ordering delivery via Doordash, and they're good at providing ordered sides. They definitely missed some of mine before, as they had some learning curves to get over when they first opened a while ago. All their sides are pretty meh; I usually order rice when I don't feel like making rice, or their cabbage salad with thousand island (?) dressing if I want to attempt to be semi healthy. Would be nice to have their online ordering more user friendly, so I can get 2 of the same sides rather than having to type it out in the comments and hope they read it. A medium comes with your choice of sides like slaw, rice, pickled daikon radish, or fries. The fries are $1 extra. The large size comes with 2 sides of your choice. Something to keep in mind is that they only take card. They do NOT take cash. The chicken was very crispy and juicy. The flavor was really good! I enjoyed it a lot, but it was a little pricey. $16 for 8 pieces and a side of daikon radish sounds a bit steep to me. (Yes, I actually counted the pieces). I do however appreciate that the pieces aren't mega tiny. The chicken pieces were pretty big compared to many places I've ordered wings from. I took the chicken with me to the Ocean Ave Beach to enjoy the sunset and they were still very hot! I like my food steaming hot, so that's a plus for me. I took a bite of one and they were soggy. How do you make soggy fries from a fresh batch? The fries looked so limp and sorry, a far cry from the description on their menu as "crispy" Julien cut French Fries. We then drove to Fort Funston and had our meal there. When I think of KFC (Korean Fried Chicken), I think of a beautiful and whole, bone-in drumette, wing and tip. Yes, you have the option of choosing a boneless chicken, but that becomes a chicken nugget, IMO. The chicken here were chopped up and butchered in a way that there are shards of bones that was difficult and dangerous to eat. When we picked up our food and tried it, it was actually very good! The wings were still crunchy even though it was drenched in sauce and I loved the flavors of each one too! The fries were also good because it wasn't flimsy, BUT it just tasted like the typical fries you can get everywhere else. Out of the wing flavors we chose, I'd say that my favorite would be the Sweet & Spicy, then the Original, and last Chili Soy Garlic. The Original didn't have as much flavor as the ones with sauce which is why it's my 2nd favorite, while the Chili Soy Garlic had a little too much of a spicy flavor for me (I have a low spice tolerance). I tried Left Wing twice since HMart opened: on opening day, and once more three days later during theirmaiden weekend, when I dined with my friends at the HMart food court. On the first day, the chicken portions for the Half & Half order were quite generous because they were in shapes similar to chicken drummettes. I was originally going to order Honey Garlic chicken, however that flavor wasn't available since they just opened. Instead, I ordered the original flavor and Sweet & Spicy. I took this order to go since HMart SF was hella crowded on opening day. I tried it at home and both chicken flavors were quite crunchy. The sweet & spicy was not too spicy (thankfully because I'm allergic to large quantities of chili peppers) and I observed that it was sweeter than spicy. The original flavor was crispy but the chicken inside was kinda dry. However, the first try didn't discourage me from inviting my friends to try it with me on the following weekend. That weekend, we ordered a Half & Half order of the House Special and Sweet & Spicy. I'm trying to be understanding with the fact that they went sold out during the previous days, however the portions drastically changed when they only had boneless chicken that day. In my opinion, the chicken portions were reduced by half compared to the drummettes on the first day. The House Special was pretty spicy, in which I only tried a few bites due to my allergies. This time it was much sweeter that it tasted very similar to Panda Express' Orange Chicken. It tasted too familiar that it was not originally like the first day. I even got more disappointed that their side portions on the Half & Half order are for only one person. Yes, you may select upto 2 sides, however the side portions are really small for an overpriced meal deal. For example, the macaroni salad tub is only for one person. The fries are overpriced since they charge it for an extra dollar to the meal, and the size is similar to a Happy Meal size at McDonald's. That same day, the cashier misheard me when I requested a side of coleslaw, but gave me steamed rice. Excuse me, coleslaw does not sound like rice and coleslaw is not rice. Aigoo! Here are my suggestions to significantly improve Left Wing Chicken's quality and service: Next time, please post updated signs daily on which flavors, chicken options and sides are currently available at your location. Please make sure to know the difference between rice and coleslaw. Make your chicken crispier and increase the portions for the boneless chicken. Please maintain the quality of your sauces so that it does not taste like your indirect competitors. Lastly, please increase the portions of your sides on the Medium, Half & Half, 3 flavor and Large orders. Be sure to know how to match the side portions based on how many people will eat these per chicken order. A Half & Half Chicken order for approximately $28 (tax included) does not equal 2 side orders for one person.
