I've been coming to Pollo Supremo for as long as I can remember, and it continues to be one of my favorite spots. The food is consistently good, the service is always friendly, and the staff does a great job making customers feel welcome. Their chicken is always flavorful, juicy, and cooked perfectly. No matter how many times I come here, the quality never seems to change, which is one of the reasons I keep coming back. Just a heads up, they do get pretty busy on weekends, so be prepared for a bit of a wait. The real secret shining star here is the fried zucchini. The batter is so crispy, kind of like a tempura batter. But the other secret is you have to eat it immediately, like by the time you get to the car it'll already be a little soggy in it's bag. I usually go to pickup dinner for a bunch of people, so I get my secret side and eat it before I leave, then go home and feed people. We've also ordered a ton of food here for the dinner at my son's bar mitzvah and everybody loved it, we got tons of compliments. Of course you can make chicken and rice and beans at home but sometimes you just need to do a takeout thing, and if you get enough sides there's something for everyone. I ususally do chicken, congri, coleslaw, maduros, and yucca. Even if you only get chicken, I always order extra sauces, because I think rotisserie chicken w tortillas in general can be dry. So they have a nice salsa fresca that comes with everything, but I will always order the garlic sauce (that usually comes w the yucca but you can just pay for a side) and the avocado sauce when they have it. read more

Decided to try this lunch spot with coworkers. Plenty of parking on the street or in their lot. Walk up to the counter and a huge menu is on the wall. The counter person was friendly. I ordered the Combo 1- 2 pieces of grilled chicken, corn tortillas, side salad of choice... I got potato salad, and a drink. Food comes out fast- the kitchen is open and they had a ton of grilled chicken ready. I got my tray and paper plate; not much with presentation as the chicken is on the plate with nothing else. The pieces were well seasoned but the pieces were pretty small. The drumstick was small and the 2nd piece was a side rib piece which was mostly bone. The cup of dipping salsa was good. The potato salad was decent. Not much to talk about... the chicken was good, but it was a small serving without much meat. We won't be back. read more

Think of this as non-chain El Pollo Loco with more variety of food such as fish. I really like the no-frill feel of the place and when you pay for your meal they don't have the stupid tip amount most other restaurants do when you pay with credit card. The chicken is tender and reasonably priced. My main problems are 1. They need to develop some sauce for the chicken because the only sauce they have now is salsa which is not optimal for the chicken. The result of this is that I actually prefer El Pollo Loco over this place because of the choices of sauces. 2 Parking is ridiculously tiny (both in terms of availability and the size of each car stall. If they had peri peri sauce it would've been perfect. I live just up the street from El Pollo Supreme, and for the past 25 years I've jokingly referred to it as "The Steroid Chicken" because of its quirky mascot. The other day, I tried the chocolate mousse, French fries, and a super burrito. The fries were actually very good--crispy and satisfying. The super burrito was a solid value: generously sized and filling. While the chicken was on the dry side, the seasoning was good enough that it was still enjoyable overall. Delicious chicken and Cuban style side dishes at great prices! The best bargain is the family dinner, with a full chicken and two large sides for about $30 (as I'm writing this). Chicken is flavorful and generally juicy. The salsa is tangy, spicy, and they give you a million containers of it! I'm addition, try the tostones (plantains)--yummy. And the fish and chips is worth a try... perfectly fried with a crispy doughy batter. My only minor complaint is that if you go when it's not busy, the chicken sometimes sits for a while and dries out. But, the good news is that the place is almost always busy! For good reason. The nostalgia from eating this charbroiled chicken and salsa brings back so many good memories! Got the family pack deal with 8 pieces of chicken, 2 sides, tortillas and salsa. Also an order of fish and chips. The chicken is very well seasoned and grilled however, I wish there was more meat on the bones. The pieces are very small. The Spanish rice and beans are really good along with then salsa. The fish and chips were decent. Seems the recipes have stayed the same and it was worth coming back. This place hits the spot. No matter how big or how small the order is... they deliver! (i mean do a good job, but they also have delivery ). Their chicken is seasoned perfectly, along with salsa, and rice and a little beans in a nice small corn tortilla... thats all i need..simple and satifying. I've only eaten on site once, and it was not bad.. Good place in the Mission, apart from all the other taquerias and restaurants... this is one of its own (to my knowledge). They mostly do one thing, and they do it pretty good... I mean this as a compliment, but i liken it to an upgraded el pollo loco style (dont hate me lol). the other times... great, amazing, fast, consistent... I have an order for 10-20 people... i can order it that morning, and they can accomodate. Huge plus for adding door dash so we can place and advanced order. Im a dinosaur and I used to call in my order when they open at 11.. One order, they did forget my tortillas.. but that was probably the only time i was disappointed. The biggest issue i have here is the parking situation.. Its a busy street..and a popular restaurant. My tip here is that you should expect to park further down and walk here.. If not... feel free to gamble and park on site if you're lucky.. Today though, I brought somoene with me so I could double park, and he could run in for the food. the lot was EMPTY.. Went here for the first time and i got to say, the place is not too bad. Ordered the burrito and it was super tasty. Service was good as well. The only issue is the parking since the place has a parking lot with limited parking and it can get in a bit of a traffic jam in the area. I liked the chicken for the most part. It was a little more charred than I like and I thought the chicken legs didn't have a lot of meat on the bone. The salsa was good but it's supposed to be included with an entree but we had to ask for it because it wasn't included. The side of salsa was small for an order of 3 piece. I liked the potato salad, plantians and rice. I would come back and try more on the menu. It can get pretty crowded so I wouldn't recommend to stay and eat if you have more than a few people. read more

The front counter people are slightly off; they allowed this young woman (bag lady or homeless) to bring in her two Pomeranians with no collars nor leashes; and while eating inside, the two dogs began fornicating right there inside the restaurant while patrons were eating. Came here for the first time. Been living here and going to bofa and Popeyes for over 15 years but never been here!! Came in with a friend today, she helped me order. The lady at the counter was really nice. Got our order right and quick! $34 per person. 2 fried tilapias, comes with salad and rice. I also ordered a side of fried shrimps (5 on the screwer). Sides we had- fried plantains- sweet, soft and a bit gooey. Fried yucca- soft, crispy, light on flavor. I had a red juice drink, which I was told to just call it JAMAICA!! My friend had a white drink, maybe it was Sprite ... They also give sour cream, mild spicy salsa sauce, Tartar sauce and salad dressing in small sauce containers and packages. When your food is ready, they call your number on the receipt. It's a pretty long number. The seating is extremely spacious. Glass windows so it's bright, now the sun sets earlier, they turn their lights on around 6:30pm. Don't expect the seats and table to be squeaky clean but they're all in great condition and wiped off. When we arrived (4:30om), there was plenty of seating, after 15-20 mins, people started to file in. There's no AC, no fan, so it did get hot in there. I wonder if it's cold during winter time. Will find out soon! They have 2 garbage cans, one for garbage and one for recycling. But it gets filled up really quick. Not sure how often they change it and take it out, but maybe add another one or bigger one..??? They have a small parking lot, fits about 7 cars (if you count the 'no parking zone) (which cars do park there as well). I parked down the street on Alemany (residential parking, just read the signs for street cleaning days), there's plenty of street parking on mission (with meter). However, parking is hard to find and the upper residential street on Mission st side is narrow and limited. Overall experience, was nice to sit down, enjoy the meal and have lots of conversation.
