I was in the neighborhood looking for a different restaurant which I realized was closed. This looked good so I stopped in. The owner was incredibly friendly and took great care of us. He gave us free bowls of soup and I had the pechuga pollo (grilled chicken) which came with a side salad, rice, and french fries. The portions were very large and I couldn't eat all of the chicken. Although the entrée prices were a little higher than I would expect from this type of restaurant, the portions were very large and seemed like a good value. read more

Got the Bandeja Paisa and Arepa Mr Pollo. This was for an early dinner. Took about 20 minutes to get our takeout order. Great flavors and textures in both. It was my first time having Colombian food, and I was pleasantly surprised. For the Bandeja Paisa, the chicarron was crunchy, white rice flavorful, and the arepa had a nice chew. This was enough for two meals. The Arepa Mr Pollo was also good. We really enjoyed the sauce. The person who had it felt it was a bit salty. Some rice or beans on the side could have helped balance that out. Looking forward to visit again and try other items on the menu. read more

It's so refreshing to have some versatility in the Daly City Area. This restaurant speaks to that diversity because it's Colombian based and offers a variety of Mexican food as well. But predominately Cuban food is sold here which is so nice to have because it's hard to find in this area. Here are some words that will help me get my point across. Deliciousness, freshness, and very filling. These are the verbs that describe this restaurant and it's food in my opinion. Anthony was our server and he was very polite and had no problem explaining the different kinds of food and even its origins in Columbia. He grew up there with his family so it made it feel so much more authentic. More authentic than some of these restaurants that claimed they cater to that specific cultures food. Yet get their recipes off of a social media website. Here you have authentic Colombians cooking these meals and it definitely shows in the flavor and the freshness. We ordered the empanadas. They were light and deep fried to perfection and filled with a potato and beef. The Arepas were also delicious but the great treat for me was the national dish of Columbia called Bandeja. This is a huge platter of multiple items such as: Chicharron, beans over rice that are sautéed in pork fat, Carne Asada steak (which was very salty). With a side of chorizo sausage and topped with and egg that's cooked over easy. I will gladly return to try more dishes off the menu. The inside of the restaurant is painted beautifully to represent parts of Columbia. It's colorful and the restaurant overall is clean. Super good Colombian food. Bandeja Paisa had excellent sausage and chicharon. The Patacon Relleno Mr. Pollo had some of the best meats I've had recently in it. And the aji/picante was absurd. I dipped about everything possible in it because it was so tasty. Beans were cooked in a very tasty sauce which gave them a lot of flavor. My son loved the arepas and papas criollas, as did I. Yelp showed that this was the only restaurant near San Francisco that served this dish, so we made a trip down here from the city after work. It was a short 10-15min walk from the Daly City bart station. The restaurant is small with six 2-4 person tables inside and two 2-person tables out front. We came to the restaurant around 6pm on a weekday with 12 people. Since the page said the restaurant didn't take reservations, we just walked in. Luckily the place was empty when we arrived so the owner helped us in putting 4 of the tables together to accommodate all of us. We ordered four bandeja paisa dishes total along with tacos, burritos and a few other dishes. The bandeja paisas took the longest but everything else came out pretty quickly. Everything tasted delicious and I could not stop eating my dish even though I was past full. My co-workers and I loved the food and will definitely be coming back again in the future! read more

I was eager to find this place through Yelp. I decided I was going to bring my dad here for his birthday lunch. When my family and I walked in, we were completely ignored. There was a table in the corner with dirty dishes piling up. And the owner did not care! He left them there and kept adding the dirty dishes there! Red Flag number 1. But because we wanted to try the food we stayed. The waiter, whom I figured out is also the owner of the restaurant. The menus were sticky and falling apart. The owner took our orders for drinks. We waited 20min to get our drinks. My dad had to remind the owner of our drinks! And the owner had the audacity to say "oh you ordered drinks?" No we just decided to sit there for 20mins! Like what the absolute fuck?!?! When the drinks came out the owner took our order for food. We ordered empanadas for our appetizers and bandeja paisas for the main course. The cooks clearly do not know how to make Colombian food. The empanadas are soggy. One empanada was not cooked thoroughly. The bandeja paisas were not up to par. Meat was burnt. Not a lot of seasoning. And to top all the shit we dealt with, I walked up to pay for the bill and the owner announced how much my bill was to the entire restaurant! I was so pissed off! You're the owner! How the hell are you okay doing that to a customer?!?!?! This place needs to learn how to treat their customers, how to wait tables, how to clean and how to cook food! I guess this place used to be called Romo's Taqueria. I'm not sure what the name is now because I saw more than one name; it's either Somo's Taqueria or Taqueria Aguila de Oro #2. The sign for Colombian food drew me in. Most of the menu is standard Mexican fare (burritos, quesadillas, tortas, nachos, chilaquiles, seafood plates), with random items like hamburgers and Philly cheesesteaks. Their Colombian items included salchipapas and arepas. The décor is pretty much what you'd expect at a taqueria, with painted murals and a TV. As I was waiting for my food, I heard the sound of a microwave. Hmm. It still took a long time for the food to come out. * Arepa with beef: I was expecting beef stuffed inside a corn cake (and in the picture they had on the wall, that's what it looked like) but I received something that resembled and tasted like a messy tostada/fajitas hybrid. Disappointed...Knowing how small this place is, we arrived early and waited outside before they opened for the three or so tables that are inside. The competitive vibe for seating was apparent as one of the larger, overly enthusiastic patrons pushed past our party of four to the front door when it opened into the tiny space. Everything would have been good had it been warm (not cold; the wind blowing in the front door put a chill on each dish). The idea of each dish was great, but it just didn't deliver in flavor, texture or experience. We were up-sold on the arepas, which I found to be tasty, but lukewarm with a cold fried egg on top. Far from satisfied, we actually had to dine elsewhere, again later that night to actually eat and be satisfied. This is a great concept, a tiny, tasting-only adventure, where the cook can be seen creating each dish, the entire menu supposed to be amous bouche. But the food, the service, the ambience, wind and all, just didn't make us feel satisfied nor nourished.Don't waste your time or money read more

Well I have been dying to try some Colombian Empandas . And have never found anything as good as my old fave on Valencia which shut down mostly likely due to gentrification. Well the rating seemed great so we decide to try it . Empanadas: I will say they were mediocre. Very doughy and not as crispy as I remember Arepas: looked liked mini pupusas , however they taste nothing like them . Maybe it's an acquired taste ! Literally one of the best chicken sandwiches in SF. This was the only Sandwhich that could compare to Boos Voni down near Geneva & Mission. The chicken was grilled perfectly and the melted cheese really complimented the bun. Will I return? YES. The customer service is also very great! Friendly cashier and friendly waitress. The place was in need of a good cleaning and we decided to order our food to go. As a Latin person, I love going to restaurants and supporting my people but it's very disappointing when I don't see much effort on their part to get customers to want to stay or come back. There are not many pleasures that we can enjoy right now during these shelter in place ordinances and I was so happy to find this little Colombian treasure. After living in Tampa and Miami, certainly our bar is high. My 9yo daughter said these are the best empanadas she has ever tasted and she's very picky :). We ordered a bandeja paisa and the flavors immediately took me back to my grandmother's cooking :). We also ordered the Patacon Relleno and my Mexican husband thought the flavors were excellent!
