The chicharrón was crispy and flavorful, the arepa was stuffed with cheese, and the carne en polvo was perfectly seasoned. The service was warm and friendly. Even though they were incredibly busy, everyone greeted customers with a smile. After we did a walk up to McLaren Park & back, we had worked up quite an appetite. The menu looked interesting so we decided to give it a try. Being a vegetarian I appreciated several veggie options available. The staff are all super friendly and when I used the restroom, I had to walk through the kitchen and I was impressed with how immaculate it was. My friend had fish tacos with rice and beans and she enjoyed them quite a bit. I had a dish that included plantains which were so yummy. The beans I had were full of flavor. I am usually not a soda drinker, but I was thirsty from the hike and I was pleasantly surprised that a Coke was only $2. As a Colombian, I'm so thankful for this place. They have delicious beef empanadas, arepas, and buñeulos. They serve fantastic coffee here too. I prefer the pour overs, but the cafe de la olla is also yummy. My husband is a vegan and he has multiple options to choose from including veggie empanadas, and Mexican or Colombian platters. In the case of Creative Ideas Cafe that has a focus on Colombian Cuisine the merchant had both a positive Yelp and ToGoodTooGo Rating. Sadly the food was Vile & Disgusting with the very smell making me nauseous. The Meat, Starch & Vegetables we're all swimming in a rank cold liquid, and though the merchant had advised to heat the dish my fear was that the consumption would make me deathly I'll. It's also important to note that the food in question was all cooked on an earlier day. I was provided with Kitchen Nightmares Quality Food. The order was placed on August 29th, and I am still awaiting a reply in regards to my request for a Refund. Given it's been a week with no answer I'm posting this review to warn off others. It took a while to come out (assuming it was the arepa that was being freshly made) so I recommend only getting a burrito if you're in a hurry. The burrito was okay but definitely needed assistance from the salsas. I think what really knocked off a star for me was the price of the arepa. One arepa costed more than the super burrito. One arepa plus burrito came out to be $37 after tax and a $4 tip. The arepa was okay, but the chicharron wasn't that crispy. Overall, I don't know if I'd come back here but if I did, it'd just be for the burritos. read more

This is our go-to place for Colombian food. I had the fortunate of a friend taking me on Wednesday, then I went with my spouse on Friday. I knew when I had the empanadas that this place was solid. The crust and meat were perfect, then each sauce given was just so good you couldn't have one, you had to cycle for each bite. The coffee was really good too. Then I had the rice bowl with steak. Delicious. The plantains were delicious and perfectly cooked. The meat was tender, full of flavor. I've been to other Colombian joints which are few in the Bay and each is good, but this is the best easily. The staff is really sweet and eager to share what they have going on. They are prompt and kind. The place itself is small, but works out for this cafe, the outdoor seating has been especially nice with this weather. They've got a lot of cute things outside of food too, stickers and cups. We also got buñuelos to go and damn, like these folks just do not miss. Perfect texture, airiness, perfect all the way through. It's impressive how every dish we had was just solid, I love having a menu to explore rather than just a single safe item to get. read more

In my sister's neighborhood she suggested we check this place out before my drive home. I love that we we're literally around the corner and got in a leisurely neighborhood walk. She had shown me the menu the night before snc I was excited to explore this cafe. They take a while to make the food she warned me. I got excited to know they had Arepas my longtime favorite. The menu was pretty extensive and the restaurant staff that greeted us was very helpful in explaining the various dishes. I loved the mural and overall vibe of the cafe, it was small but given the outdoor seating made for more space, I went with a cafe de olla, chicken arepa and few dessert items- dulce de leche cheesecake, cheese bread and guava cookie. As I'm writing this I'm thinking about the hot and mouthwatering arepa. I loved the salsa music adding ti through flair and that they have daily specials, I already told my sister I'm thinking about the next time I go down and getting the same food, the downside is that it was a good 40 minute wait from when we ordered the food to bring handed it so we talked about calling it in next time. read more
