Parking is horrid. Stonestown Mall's parking lot is always busy. The chicken isn't as tender as what i'm used to. Service is pretty fast. This was our first time here and will probably be our last.

I ordered the mini marina for portion and weight control. Gotta get rid of my beer belly somehow. Sauce is finger licking good, in my opinion of course. Came into an empty store so felt like I had VIP treatment. Environment is simply serenity. Recommend with my utmost respectful regards.

Inside stonestown mall Little shop near the entrance Order at the kiosk Pick up area a bit so you should order online for pick up! Chicken and rice is average. Thanks!

I'm a big fan of the OG chicken rice here and service is always fast. Their chicken and rice is simple, yet delicious. Their sauces are also yummy! I noticed a new chicken burrito menu item and tried it for the first time today. There's cheese, sour cream, chicken, and rice inside the burrito. The order comes with a side of tortilla chips with pico de gallo and habanero sour cream. I'm not sure I would get it again, but it was an interesting new item for sure.

I love the happy hour. Got the all dark haianese chicken, generous portion andhas a delicious sauce. The server was really helpful and friendly. The place is clean and spacious. I joined their rewards program and I will continue eating here when Iam in the area.

First time trying Rooster & Rice and was happy to there at the right time for their weekday happy hour prices (25% off their entire menu at 2-4pm Monday-Friday). I ordered their original, which was breast and thigh over rice with a side of chicken broth. Some parts of the chicken were a bit dry, but overall the meal was still satisfying. Having the chicken broth alongside it helped alot. The staff was super friendly and even brought my food to the table. They have a few tables inside, and the location is right near the main mall entrance.

Came here with a group of friends before watching a movie together. Good: - The portion sizes are good and the price isn't too bad - The food here feels very healthy, I got the original bowl with no modifications - The service is decently fast as well Bad: - It doesn't have much seating so we had to leave to go sit somewhere - I don't like how bland the chicken and rice gets after having more than half of it Overall this was an average location for what I've tried, I've had better Rooster and Rices in the past.

I went here for their 25% off happy hour between 2-4pm Monday to Fridays and their last opening hour (you have to order with staff to receive the discount). I've eaten a good amount of khao mun gai in my life from various tech food trucks, places in Silicon Valley, and from Rooster & Rice itself so knew what to expect. This location is pretty small but clean. I've eaten here when they first opened, and portions have gotten smaller. What is Rooster & Rice? Pretty much that - a bowl of chicken and rice, typically yellow skin poached chicken with chicken infused rice. Rooster & Rice's dishes come with a small side of a concentrated zesty soy sauce, a side of chicken broth, sliced plain cucumbers, garnished with a sprig of cilantro. - The Original I always get the option with skin-on chicken because that's the best part of Hainan chicken. Unfortunately, the only option with skin-in chicken also includes the skinless breast. All chicken pieces were nicely tender, though sauce is needed for the breast. I'm sad that they don't include ginger scallion sauce automatically. It's a good healthy meal with no bones in the chicken, though truly expensive for chicken and rice. The broth was soothing and tasted of clean wholesome chicken. - Hat Yai Chicken rice with hard fried chicken. It was kind of bland and there was no crunch; it was more tough than crispy. Comes with not enough sweet chili sauce for the chicken. I would definitely not order this again as it was not appetizing or filling. - Chicken Springroll (half) Surprised you can order this as a half portion, which works for me since I like cheaper options for tasting. It's just a spring roll with strips of chicken pieces inside, and delicious peanut sauce. The rice wrapper was very bouncy and moist. - Thai Tea It's a small bottle of what tastes like strong Thai tea imported from Thailand. I like that Rooster & Rice branched out to other chicken dishes that I'd come back to try again, though I wouldn't expect big portions. If you want a healthy light meal, this is a good option. They automatically add a 4.5% surcharge - thanks SF!

The Original Khao Mun Gai - Chicken Breast and Chicken Thigh Skin On with Chicken Rice, Cucumber, KMG Sauce, and Chicken Broth
Mike L.

Back in the before times (aka pre-COVID), when I used to go into an office every day, Rooster & Rice was one of my go-to options for lunch. However, it's no coincidence that I haven't ordered from them since then. Although they were decent enough, I never thought their signature chicken and rice offerings (Khao Mun Gai) were as good as similar dishes I could get elsewhere either. As such, I can't say I've had much of a reason to get it since then. After discovering they now had an outpost up at Stonestown, though, I couldn't resist my curiosity's urge to see if the food was any different than I remember! Located just inside the front entrance to the mall (across from Blaze Pizza), this place is quite modest in size. While they do have some seating of its own, there are only a couple of tables inside, along with a handful of counter seats if you want to dine-in (or you can head up to the food court). Similarly, the menu isn't very extensive either, but it did include a few items I don't recall seeing before, such as their Khao Tom Gai, Hat Yai Fried Chicken and Chicken Burrito. Even still, since I was mostly just curious about how my old go-to order tasted these days, I already knew before I even walked in I was going to get THE ORIGINAL KHAO MUN GAI ($15.45). Consisting of chicken breast and chicken thigh with skin on, chicken rice, cucumber, cilantro (blech), their KMG sauce and chicken broth, this may not be the prettiest thing to look at, but it's a fairly decent amount of food for the money. On the plus side, the chicken itself was tender, well cooked, and I liked that it didn't have any tendon/muscles in it. As for the rice, it was a bit clumpy, but, surprisingly, not mushy/overcooked. All of that having been said, I don't remember the chicken nor the rice tasting so...plain. To be clear, that's not to say it was "bland"; it's just that the chicken tasted like just that (no seasoning) and the rice only had a faint taste of chicken to it. Granted, that's what their KMG sauce is for, and it is quite flavorful, but it's just my memory of it is different. Considering all of the conveniences that they have to offer (plenty of parking, not much of a line, potentially "healthier" than some of the other eateries in the mall, and even happy hour pricing if you come at certain times), Rooster & Rice is a fine option for something simple and easy. However, to me, there's no question that you can find options that are both more interesting and tastier elsewhere.

Chris R.

Came here after eating blaze pizza food here is very quick and good. I love the ambience here the Homie Arron Kai did a lot of the artwork with the waves on it and the ambience is very quiet. Very mellow restaurant food is a 10 out of 10 and service. Here is really amazing.

Their potions seem small at first but are very filling. Also, the dessert is a must try! The way they do the tables is a bit confusing. I noticed separate parties of two at the same four person table, and our party of four was squished into a table the same size they were pitting parties of two at. It was good we didn't order anything else or it wouldn't have fit on the table.

Overall it's still a good Thai place, but portions are smaller than before but still on the pricier side, I wouldn't say it's worth a longer wait. Fried apps, rice noodle dishes, and Kaya toast was the highlight, I feel like curries and meat lacked flavor. It's still just as busy as before, we had to wait an hour on weekday night. We got - Hed Tod - the fried oyster mushrooms were nice and crispy on the outside, and the mushroom inside was a bit tough but paired really well with the sweet and sour sauce - Goong Pad Kai Kem - the shrimp was fried nicely with a very slight hint of salted egg yolk, it was more heavy on the spiced chili and garlic - Khao Pad Mun Neur - was a bit disappointed in this one, the fried rice was good, it was savory and slightly garlicky but the beef short rib barely soaked in the flavor and was chewy. I didn't think they paired well together - Ba Mee Pad - the egg noodles had a heavy gravy sauce and the egginess was pretty prominent, duck seems on the overcooked side because it's tender but a bit grainy - Pad See Ew - would recommend, the rice noodles are thick with gravy - Pad Ngor Nae - a very nice addition to the menu, it has a very similar gravy sauce as pad see ew, and the shrimp, sausage and fried tofu were packed with the gravy flavor and paired well together. It also kind of reminds me of my all time favorite Thai street dish - Gaeng Kamin Ped duck breast tumeric curry - it was just ok, and sadly the duck portion is much smaller than before and still on the overcooked side. The curry is very mild in flavor as well - Khao Ob Mun Pu crab clay pot rice - it's more of a sweet and savory crab roe style dish, where the crab is like the consistency of an egg, I wasn't the biggest fan because of the sweetness - burnt butter Kaya toast with coconut ice cream - a highlight, the toast was slightly crunchy on the side but also full of buttery sweetness with each bite, the coconut ice cream on top reminded me of coconut milk - Thai tea seems homemade, it's on the less sweet side and the tea flavor is there

Born and Raised in SF and growing up in the Mission you make friends with every nationality. You will see all kinds of restaurants serving food from all seven continents. There is one restaurants in the back streets of the Mission District which has lots of characters and it's serves delicious Thai cuisine. In this area you only use to see people wearing suits only on a Sunday but now you see people wearing suits on a weekday walking around. It's located on Florida ( not the state) street and it's called Farmhouse Kitchen Thai cuisine. On a Fleet Week and SF Tech week stroll I landed on Florida ( not the state) street. When it comes to Thai food I always like trying dishes with seafood. Most restaurants by the water serve seafood that can be bland and stale in SF. Some try to squeeze the life out of a lemon and lime and it still tastes more sour. One thing you can do to change the taste is to put some different flavor on it. Farmhouse Kitchen Thai cuisine offers a seafood plate called the Run Juan Seafood Sizzling and it's exactly the seafood answer for Don Juan . The Run Juan was a bit spicy with the spicy curry paste and jalapeños with and it came with an assortment of different seafood which included shrimp, scallops, calamari, and Manila clams. It wasn't salty like some in SF. I also had the Tom Kha soup which was not too sour like some in SF. I was looking for the purple rice but they had the blue rice which is good to have for Fleet week in honor of the Blue Angels. I washed all down with a purple colored Anchan Limenade. Some things in the Mission has changed and those days are "gone"but one thing won't change is the love of the Mission and for San Francisco by "Don Juan" because the Mission in the city still has it going "on" so go the Farmhouse and enjoy a Thai seafood dish called "Run Juan" Walking the streets of the Mission at night back in the days you had to be "cautious" because the ones who got targeted were the "softest" the Farmhouse is located on the Florida street where the "loft is"and lots of people demand for Run Juan but I am not currently running for "office"

I came on Sunday around 5:30, and was seated immediately. The steady influx/outflux of customers never made it seem too quiet, even though only half the restaurant was utilized. If you decide to come here, I recommend avoiding the Thai staples like Pad Thai and Tom Yum, and ordering at least 1 dish from the "From the Chef" section. This place feels more authentic with more unique offerings compared to your regular run of the mill Thai place (they are mostly government sponsored anyways). I ordered a Papaya salad (Som Tum Poo Pla), a Shrimp Paste Fried Rice, and Roasted Pork with Crispy Pork Belly. For starters, the Papaya salad with a bigger price tag is not for the faint of heart. There is a load of fish sauce, and combined with anchovies, makes for an...acquired dish. I was told by my server that it's pretty authentic, but it's a little too authentic and reminds me of Natto or Beijing tofu juice. The Shrimp Paste Fried rice is a must order; the spread is very instagram worthy and gives me vague paella vibes in terms that it's shareable and good for parties 2-4. I did not see this dish at other Thai restaurants I've been to, so I'd consider pretty unique. Just be mindful that it's on the sweeter side, and the chilis on the side are very, very spicy, so allocate accordingly. The Roasted Pork with Crispy Pork Belly was by far the star of the show. The skin was super crispy, and the pork itself was super tender, melt in your mouth feeling. The flavors and seasonings were perfect, with just a hint of basil to elevate the entire taste. A true adventure for the taste buds, and a must order as a shareable. Service was super friendly, and my waiter answered all my questions with a smile, and even gave us his recommendations since we wanted to stray away from the basic thai food orders. This place is a must come to if you're looking for true authentic Thai food from a chef that has pride in his work. I can't wait to come back to try their other unique dishes!

We told the staff we were waiting and so she closed the waitlist request and the guy went to the back of the line. We were then put on the waitlist. And two groups of three were put on the waitlist after us. Then when it's getting to around 15-20 min, I saw the group behind us go in to check on the wait time. They told them their table was almost ready. So assumed our table was almost ready. I was wrong. The group behind us in line and the one that tried to cut BOTH were sat before us! This was upsetting as we were there before them and were really hungry at this point. Finally we were sat down. I wanted to order crispy chicken fried rice but they were out of crispy chicken. Not really the restaurant's fault as it was getting closer to the end of the night but that definitely had me feeling even more bummed :( And when the food finally came out, some of my rice was cold :( I feel upset because I have been recommended this place many times but the food and front desk service really fell below my expectations. Our server was nice so nothing on them! And the decorations were really fun! But yeah probably will not come back here.

The system turned out to not work very well as I originally booked a spot for 2 at 11am and then had to call to move it to 11:40am (weird time). Turns out when we got there, my name or a close spelling of it was on the list for 12:40pm. This wasn't a big deal to me since it's easy to mishear on the phone so we moved on from that. The restaurant was decently booked and we sat inside. Now for what my partner and I ordered! Unfortunately nothing called to me strongly so I went with the very basic choice of 2 eggs plate with ciabatta toast and rainbow potatoes. I added in chicken sausage for $3. 5/10: The toast was unbuttered and honestly tasted stale. The potatoes were nice and crispy, but unsalted and quite plain. The eggs were nice, I got mine scrambled. Sausages were okay, I think I actually ended up with the pork sausages rather than chicken. My plate was $26 and I can confidently say it is not worth close to that unfortunately. Brussel Florentine Benedict 6/10: My partner was intrigued by the ton yum hollandaise sauce. There was a hint of it which was nice. Benedicts were okay, nothing special. Coconut oat matcha 8/10: On the sweeter side, but enjoyable! I liked the toasted coconut pieces on top and thought it was a nice drink. Premium matcha wise, I don't agree necessarily, but hey it was an enjoyable drink. Drip coffee 0/10: My partner loves a drip coffee and not in a snobby way. From diner coffee to honestly plain old regular slightly brunt coffee, thats her jam. This coffee was just burnt. Not sure what happened but it was $5 for a completely bitter cup of burnt coffee. Not great. Fun side note: As we were ordering the table next to us called attention to their dish as their waffle was completely undercooked and tasted bitter. The wait staff was apologetic about it, but seemed to either not understand or insist it was "too sweet" not undercooked or bitter. The table was very polite about it so honestly it was not the best look for the restaurant. It was simply feedback and I don't believe it was taken very well. Regardless, just a fun note to throw in! We will not be back unfortunately. There are many lovely brunch spots and restaurants around the city and sadly I don't think this one is worth a try just because of the cost for the quality, but I always tell myself its always worth to try in case you do think differently!

So that sucked. 1st let's admire my Thai Ice Tea. This was so adorable & I felt bad drowning him in my tea ha 2nd - my co-worker said this was the 2nd best Pad Thai he's ever had. They grill the tofu so it's got some crunch to it. Which totally elevates the Pad Thai. My Panang Curry with duck was excellent! Decent amount of duck just a few bones. Great little kick on the spice BUT not so spicy that it makes you regret life choices! Delicious will order again. The only thing I'd complain about is that my rice wasn't sticky. I prefer stickier rice - but this rice is perfect if you don't have a preference. I don't want fully unwashed mush but I like a little more starch. My other co-worker ordered Roasted duck over rice - he said it was tasty & would order again. We did order chicken satay and the chicken had good flavor BUT the peanut sauce was just ok. I'd order it again to see if it was just an off day for the sauce. It's a small restaurant & filled quickly at lunch. Many Asians eating there which told me it would be good. Restrooms were slippery so be careful but clean. Overall I would come again!

This is probably my favorite Thai restaurant in the city! The food tastes authentic and reminds me…read moreof what I had in Thailand. I believe the chef even came from Thailand. I also love the different sets you can choose from depending on your protein cravings and dietary preferences, including vegetarian and vegan options. The sets are a great way to try a little bit of everything, from appetizers and main dishes to dessert. Everything tasted fresh, and the dishes came out pretty quickly. My only complaint is that you only get 1.5 hours at the table. I get it since they're so popular, but it would be nice to have a little more time to enjoy the meal without feeling rushed. Overall, I highly recommend Hed Verythai if you're looking for authentic Thai food. Definitely one of my favorite spots!

The mushroom soup was the best thai soup I've ever had in my life! It has the sourness of tom yang soup but with a hint of sweetness and creaminess that balances it out so well! The tender, juicy chicken curry was flavored to perfection, the salad and butternut squash were refreshing, and the three grains complemented the meal so nicely. I was stuffed by the end, but not uncomfortably so. Prices were pretty fair; regular sets are $20-something and the seasonal sets are in the 30's. I really appreciated the amazing service we got too. We showed up at 6 pm on a Wednesday night with no reservations for 3 people, but the hostess said she could give us a table for around an hour, before the reserving party arrives, if we were ok with it. They were also very flexible about switching out one of the items in the sets we didn't like as much. The restaurant itself is beautiful and comfortable and 10/10 would recommend this place to anyone! The most well-done Thai food I've ever had!
