We order every time there are coupons. With 10-20 orders every five or ten minutes, I understand. But the short ribs have been blackened a bit too much several times now, and this time, the beef looked a little undercooked. Please see the images, and I just hope this helps. Walked in to this place after checking out the new planet fitness in the plaza, on Sunday the 11th. There was a very young Latin cashier that acted like she did not want to be working there and gave horrible service. I ordered the white fish combo but wanted something else as far as protein, and saw they had the seafood mix, so I changed it to that. First off my order took almost 30 min to be ready and when I got home and started to eat , I discovered they had burned the chicken really bad and placed it in a way where it could not seen, but you could definitely smell it. The Shrimp where worse than the frozen supermarket bought ones, the only thing half decent was the fish, but you could still see it was old and stale, even tho it took 30 min to prep. It was my first time there and my last. Payed $40 for the mix seafood plate, an order of spam musubi and an extra scoop of Mac salad. The next day, the food wasn't ready even though they said it would be ready by our new time. No issues though, given we asked kinda last minute for the time change. I haven't gone for Hawaiian food for a long while and saw on TikTok that Ono had a new guava hula pie. It looked like a pop tart, so the fat lid in me wanted to try it. You know I can't just get a pie and leave so I decided to get two mini lunch plates. I got the Island Fire Chicken and Chicken Katsu. Wow, has the prices gone up! $12.99 or so for a mini and the pie was $399. The mini portions matched the name. They were mini now! I recall that in the past I was able to turn a mini into two meals if needed. This time, I felt like I could have finished both of if I wanted to. The fire chickens' texture was weird and the katsu literally came with 6 cut up strips. The cabbage that also comes with the mini weren't strained all the way so the water left in got to all the rice, Mac, and chicken dishes. Placed order for 3 small party trays in the AM for an afternoon pick-up. On arrival, the order wasn't ready and ended up waiting about 30 minutes with no discount. You do it before you get out of the house. I ordered bbq combo which comes with short rib, bbq beef, and bbq chicken. I get a scissor and cut up the meat. Easy to eat. Did you know you get to pick how many scoops of macaroni or rice or steamed veggie. I get 2 scoops of macaroni. I got a combo of white fish and lemon pepper chicken, which comes with their salad and plenty of rice. I really like their salad dressing (Shredded lettuce with edamane). I've never been to Hawaii, and I don't pretend to think that Ono's can replicate an authentic experience there. However, the same way one can enjoy Panda Express without thinking it is authentic Chinese cuisine, I feel Ono also has a place in the line-up of fast, casual dining. Rice, paired with macaroni salad, and chicken katsu--the OG fusion dish of East meeting West! I enjoy the crispiness of the chicken katsu, balanced by the creaminess of the of salad. And the rice? Who can say no to (gluten free) carbs? The Hawaiian BBQ is also solid, and I enjoy going back and forth between the katsu and the BBQ. I would say that with inflation / shrinkflation all around us (with perhaps Chipotle being one the more famous examples), Ono Hawaiian isn't immune to this, but I don't think that thier prices and proportions haven't changed as much as other competitors have. read more

We love this place!! Family of four, plenty of food for everyone with leftovers-can't beat the family meal! We make rice at home and double up on the Mac salad. Three entree choices, we get Hawaiian barbecue chicken, teriyaki chicken, and Kalua pork. Sometimes when they have grilled fish, we get that instead of one of the chicken dishes. We've had barbecue beef in the past, that's good too, but we just love love love our favorite three choices! The steamed cabbage and broccoli is a wonderful addition. Whenever I have a rough or busy day, I know I can count on Ono's to lift my spirits with a scrumptious combo plate. I have ordered take out from here roughly once every 1-2 months for the past 3-5 years and I will never get tired of it. Calling in the order is easy, and recently I've started using the application to pre-order pickup at a specific pickup time. It's just simply: good and reliable Hawaiian food. I have never had a misplaced order, or an incorrectly filled order. If we're honest, it's not gonna beat your local Oahu/Maui restaurant, but that's a given. If you sign up for email notifications, they usually always have some sort of "Free $10 Bonus Card when you buy $40 or more in gift cards" promotion. Although you can't redeem the bonus card until the time period stated, if you're a frequent visitor like me, purchasing these cards every time is a good investment for future visits. Of course there has been a price increase throughout the years (entrees are ~$14 now) but that is expected with inflation and cost of living. I'll still pay for good food! read more

Out of all the Hawaiian places I've been to, this one tops them! For the family meal, it comes with 3 choices of meat, rice and macaroni salad. It's $40, and for the amount of food you get I'd say it's worth it! I usually don't like macaroni salad, but this one is really creamy and isn't overly seasoned. The Katsu is also amazing. Had an unpleasant experience today at the SF location and will never go back. The SF location is small and crowded. Super busy because of Colma closure. I place my order and waited towards the back of the store. After 15-20 mins, the gentleman that placed his order before me got his food so I figured I should be getting my order soon. After 10 mins, #189 and 190 was called (my # was 187). I noticed an unclaimed order was sitting on the count for awhile and thought it might have been mine. Maybe I didn't hear my number because it was noisy from people talking and the ice maker. I approached the counter and politely asked Claribel if my number was called. She totally ignored me and turned her back at me to face the kitchen. She remained in this position for about 10 mins bagging orders. I finally got her attention and ask politely again if my number was called. She "lashed" out at me and said "You have to wait like everyone else (pointing to customers waiting). We are very busy so you have to wait your turn." I told her I know you are over worked but don't take it out on the customers. I watched you scolded another customer earlier with the same tone. I told her that I wasn't complaining about the wait. I just didn't know if my number was called. Claribel needs an attitude adjustment. She was mean and rude. Should not be serving the public with that attitude. As for the food, it was ok. I wouldn't rave about it but it wasn't bad. The bbq beef, teriyaki chicken and chicken katsu all had good flavor. Got 2 growing boys at home so got the 3 entree family meal.... comes with rice and macaroni salad. The chicken katsu is good, but you got to eat it while its fresh and hot... warming it up does not do not do it justice... use an air fryer, but it will dry it out. The chicken teriyaki was a bit on the dry side (don't forget to get the self serve teriyaki sauce from the dispenser). The winning dish is the BBQ Beef... yummy. Tender and goes well with the rice. But more veggies is needed. They're Mac salad is pretty decent too. Oh and don't forget their sauces! I love their dipping sauce for the katsu and the teriyaki sauce for the steamed veggies! Their spam musubi is super expensive for what it is and if you know how to make it do that instead of buying it. They don't put a lot of rice in it and the price has just gone up so much!
