Brisket, cheeks, Dino rib, smoked chicken thighs

The food is worth all the hype, and the wait time is well worth it. We arrived at 12pm on a Sunday, right at the opening time. We only waited approximately 45 minutes from standing inline to getting our food. The restaurant is take out style, however there is plenty outdoor seating and seating inside of Alameda Brewing. I would describe the wait as part of the experience, you see the meat being carved and weighed right in front of you, talk to other eager foodies, watch the delicious trays of food walk by. We ordered a Dino Rib, brisket, cheeks, chicken thighs, lumpia, and the slaw. Everything was absolutely delicious, but the slaw for me was amazing. Warming, it is not a traditional cole slaw. It had pineapple, peanuts, cucumber, cabbage, carrots, and a peanut sauce style sauce. It complimented the meat really well. The star of the show was definitely the Dino rib and brisket. 10/10 would recommend!

Son wanted to try so we are here. The line was long, the selection limited but the taste was good. There were many big orders, likely for parties. A $300 order can fit nicely into a regular paper grocery bag with room to spare, so make sure your wallet is mentally prepared so it does not go into shock. We had a sandwich. A pound of brisket and some baby back. My advice... unless you really want to suck the gravy off the bones or want to bring gift to your canine friend, don't get anything with bones as everything is by weight and I don't know about you, I can't chew on the bones. After close to $80, I had some meat off the rib and a piece of brisket, and craving some instant noodles ... The place is very transactional and noisy. But that is how it should be with a busy place where majority of orders are to-go.

Ambiance - 5/5 Walking in I didn't have much expectation. But as I step foot into the place. I was fascinated but the wall art. The street art vibe with the cartoon style character. Super awesome. The kitchen is wide open. Everything was super clean and well put together. Service - 5/5 Great recommendations from the staff. The house slaw and banana pudding were clearly popular choices, and they definitely knew what they were doing when guiding the order. I told them it's my first time. These were what they recommended me. One of the staff actually gave a piece of brisket to try. Very nice of them to give a free sample before I order so I know what I'm expecting. Food - 4.5/5 Dish Ordered: Dino Rib, Brisket ( 1/2 lb), House Slaw, Banana Pudding 5/5 Dino Rib Wow. This was the highlight. The meat was unbelievably tender--every single part of it. Usually with ribs, especially the upper portions, you get some toughness or dryness depending on how it's smoked. Not here. This one was melt-in-your-mouth soft, juicy throughout, and you could practically pull it apart effortlessly. The seasoning was perfect--balanced, not too salty, not bland, just right. Every bite hit. 4/5 Brisket ( 1/2 lb) About two slices. Visually, it looked great--nice color, juicy, with a solid fatty portion. But after eating the Dino rib, it felt a bit underwhelming. Still good, just didn't hit as hard flavor-wise. Might be better appreciated on its own next time. 5/5 House Slaw This paired extremely well with the meat. Sweet, tangy, and refreshing. The hint of peanuts adds a nice nutty layer that makes it stand out. It cuts through the richness of the meat perfectly. 5/5 Banana Pudding Not your typical pudding--it's more like a banana cake. The sweetness not too overwhelming, smells amazing, and just hits the spot. A great way to finish the meal. Additional Comments The Dino rib alone makes this place worth it. It sets a very high bar, which honestly makes everything else feel secondary. The best Rib I have ever had in my life so far. Important thing to note is that the rib will be weighed. I don't think you can ask to get the portion you want like you can with the brisket. My Dino rib came out to be 1.6lb. The sides and dessert complement the meal really well and round out the experience. Price is bit is definitely in the higher end but the experience is definitely worth it.

A plate my husband put together with a little bit of everything we ordered.

Wow the food here is amazing, if you're wondering if you should go, just do it. I'm not even a big bbq person but it's so good I finished every plate. My husband wanted to order food from here to take home for his birthday. We came on a Wednesday a little after 4:30 PM and there were less than 5 people in line. It went quick but we can see how there can be a line on weekends since there's only one person cutting meat in the back. The food is phenomenal though and worth the wait (again coming from someone who doesn't eat a lot of bbq or meat). The sides are my favorite. They are so good. We got every single one :). I loved the brisket and the mustard sauce. And we got the dessert drink which was tasty for someone who has a big sweet tooth. Overall, it's fantastic and next to a brewery. There's a small parking lot near by. Would definitely come again!!!

We cane around 12:30pm on a Saturday and waited in line for about 30 minutes! I wasn't expecting a line, but it was worth the wait! Also tbh......I came for the Indonesian food and not the bbq actually haha. My only complaint is that this place is quite pricey haha. Our bill cane out to $70+ (including tip) for two entrees, a side, and a drink (no bbq). We got soto padang, ayam balado, rujak, and es cendol. Some comments: The soto padang was yummy but a bit too salty. The brisket wasn't anything special imo.....Red sambal was amazing (*tears *). The es cendol was yummy but a tad too sweet and thick. The chicken was very flavorful and tender. Rujak was refreshing! And the plates were all pretty big! Overall: It was all enak sekali and fulfilled my Indo food cravings. I'll be back to try the other classic Indo dishes!

Yah I finally made it here !! Came on a Saturday shortly after 12 noon and when I arrived there was a line already Thankfully no items were sold out so we were able everything we wanted Meat is weighed and that determines the price We got to try the Dino rib, sausage, potato salad, lumpia, chicken and brisket All meats are very tender and well seasoned Meat is good even with out the BBQ Sauce Business is cashless, there is a small outdoor patio available to enjoy your food or you can go to next door to the Alameda Brewery and enjoy your food inside that business and we did!! Glad we got a chance to come here, we will definitely be back Parking is street parking only and there is private parking in the back

This is one of the best and most interesting restaurants we have been to! Whoever thought of Indonesian and Texas barbecue fusion? Well they do an excellent job on both cuisines and blending it together. Everything is nicely paired and delicious too! Hubby had the Dino ribs which were HUGE, meaty and juicy! I had the Rendang (Indonesian), a side of lumpia and a dumpling special. Everything was an explosion of flavors! We were a significantly impressed and will be back. Our friends warned us that the lines can get really long but we went around 2:30 and it was not bad at all. But the problem with going too late is that they run out of some of the more popular foods. There are not a whole lot of tables for the amount of business they do, but they have an agreement with the Alameda brewing company next-door that you can bring your food over there and use their tables, as long as you buy something to drink there.

My husband heard about Fikscue after watching Check, Please! so of course we stopped by for an early dinner. Apparently they serve Texas style BBQ and Indonesian fusion dishes, which I thought was very unique. We walked through a small courtyard before entering the restaurant. The employees were extremely busy, and although we were ready, it took them a long time before we could place our order at the register. They ran out of Dino Beef Ribs and Beef Back Ribs, so we ordered the smoked brisket, jalapeño cheese sausage, and a side of fries. Not sure if it's because I'm not a huge meat eater, but I only enjoyed the fries since they were crispy. The brisket was very salty and didn't the sausage was crazy good given that it costs $8. The place didn't blow my mind, especially since it's priced by the pound. I would come here if other people wanted to stop by, but I wouldn't if I was by myself.

My eldest child was asking for beef ribs. While we usually go to Capelo's in Redwood City, I was unable to order the beef ribs online since it said they were sold out. I then Yelped "beef ribs" and discovered Fikscue. I remember watching an episode of Check, Please! Bay Area, which featured Fikscue and I was intrigued to try an Indonesian fusion BBQ joint. My family decided to make the trek to Alameda to try Fiksue and it was totally worth the trip! We sampled practically everything on the menu, since we ended up having a large group. We tried the beef cheek, brisket, beef back ribs, dino beef ribs, chicken legs, jalapeno-cheese sausage, rendang plate, balado plate, batagor, rujak slaw, nasi goreng, lumpia and the banana pudding. I kid you not, everything was delicious! I loved that the Indonesian plates had shrimp chips served with them. All the BBQ beef meats were so tender. I could easily break pieces of beef off the bones with a plastic fork. We ordered way too much food, but glad we were able to try everything. The banana pudding was to die for! I'm no BBQ connoisseur, but I honestly think Fiksue is the best BBQ I've tried in California!

Brisket, Dino Beef Bone, Nasi Goreng

SO GOOD. Husband and I came on a Saturday morning. The line was long, but we found it to be worth the wait. I recommend getting there early though because there is a good chance you'll miss out on all the best stuff if you don't (they serve til they're sold out and then that's it). We ordered: - Brisket - Dino Beef Rib - Balado Plate w/ Chicken - Rujak Slaw - Potato Salad - Nasi Goreng - Banana Pudding - Soda Gembira - Cendol We loved it all. Highly recommend. Will be back.

Food ok Service good Ambiance ok One word Overhyped. I'm not saying that the barbecue wasn't good. It just didn't live up to its expectations. Now I saw this place on social media as one of the best barbecue in the Bay Area. Well in my visit, let me just say I was disappointed. The food was OK and overpriced. The brisket was a bit dry so was the ribs. The sausage tasted like sawdust and potato salad was flavorless. Service was good lady that helped me was nice and suggested what to get. The place inside is pretty small, but there's plenty of sitting outside and you could sit inside the brewery next-door, which is what we choose. Now if I was in the area again, I would not come back.

I see what all the hype is about... 4.5 **** rounded up to 5 ***** for me. Texas style Halal BBQ in the Bay area with an ethnic twist. Brilliant! I heard about Fiskscue from one of my friends. I've been meaning to try it for a while, I just don't get around to Alameda that often. The hours are also odd; they are open only 3 days, and not even the whole day. The venue itself is tiny, more like a hole in the wall. They have some counter seating inside and there is an area right outside where one can eat. Good news is they are located next to Alameda Brewing, where one can dine in if you grab a beer. Parking can be challenging, so good luck with that. I also overheard the young lassie at the register say Saturdays are crazy and usually much busier than Sundays. The staff were very friendly. #IndonesianBBQ: ~ Jalapeño-Cheese Beef Sausage - 3.5/5 The Sausage was a little too fatty for my liking. I thought the flavor was okay as well, I couldn't really taste the Jalapeño or the cheese. It paired very really well with the Mustard sauce and their BBQ sauce. ~ Beef Cheeks - 4.5/5 The Beef cheeks were on point, almost like burnt ends. They had a nice char on the outside, yet soft and juicy in the middl. Not as tender as the Brisket, but excellent nonetheless. ~ Fried Chicken Leg - 3/5 The chicken itself doesn't have a lot of flavor, but it was very good when dipped in BBQ or Mustard sauce. It's worth trying at least once, but I would not recommend it. You aren't missing out if you skip this. ~ Rendang Plate - 4.5/5 I could definitely taste the Indonesian flavorsat first bite; the coconut milk stood out right away. The potato fritter was very good, along with the Kale curry; flavor galore. This was literally be a meal by itself. ~ Soto Padang - 5/5 This was AMAZING! I'd come back just for this! The soup was absolutely delish! Flavor bomb! Two types of noodles and delicious broth with pieces of brisket. Brilliant!! ~ Nasi Goreng - 3.5/5 Initially I thought the Nasi Goreng was OK. However, the more I ate it, the better it got. The flavors opened up more. But I had better, also there was not enough brisket in the dish. ~ Cendol - 5/5 Be sure to stir and mix this up real good before drinking it. The palm sugar syrup sits at the bottom. Very refreshing and tasty. Overall, a great experience. I'll be back...

    "High quality BBQ BRISKET"

Fikscue Craft BBQ is a unique fusion of Texas style smoked meats with Indonesian flavors, also described as "Halal Indo-Tex." I had their "BBQ Brisket Sandwich" and my husband had their "BBQ Brisket and Smoked Sausage." AMAZING! Their brisket is dark and savory with deep mahogany color. Incredibly tender meat, able to be pulled apart with no effort and slices cleanly without crumbling. Truly intensely flavorful, smoky and buttery, with high level of moisture! Fiskcue Craft BBQ is the "real deal!"

Everett and Jones once had a location in Sacramento many years ago and I used to visit often. I loved their barbecue sauce and still buy it in stores when available. I had that in mind when telling my family, 'Let's go!" I was disappointed with the food when we arrived. The first thing I noticed when our food came out was that the barbecue sauce wasn't as thick as I remembered, it was very runny, it's didn't stick to the mean. I also saw a lot of fat on the ribs, but thought maybe the taste would be good, so we prayed and ate. Unfortunately, the ribs were fatty and tough to find good meat. I also tried the brisket, which was a little fatty but VERY good. I ordered mac and cheese and greens as sides, but didn't like either. The mac and cheese had a bit of charred cheese on top (which I love), but I wasn't impressed afterward. My friend's hot link had zero flavor, just texture, which was strange. I was embarrassed because I had bragged about how hot the links were! Sike! Everyone at the table enjoyed the sweet cornbread. We also loved the mango lemonade. The desserts were outstanding: caramel cake, key lime pie, and pecan sweet potato pie. I highly recommend those! I'd visit again but skip the ribs and links. As a family member said, 'Don't eat your leftovers alone--you might need someone to do the Heimlich if you choke on the fat." jkjk

First of all, my order was TO-GO. And let me tell you... when I got home and opened that bag, I was honestly blown away. My food was packaged with so much care, precision, and pride--it was neat, organized, and handled like it actually mattered. That alone told me everything about the level of service in that building. Candalen--YOU DID THAT. The attention to detail on my plate did not go unnoticed. You treated my food like it was being served in-house, and that speaks volumes about your work ethic and pride in what you do. Aaron--listen... that peach lemon drop??? BABY. That was my first time trying one and it was EVERYTHING. Smooth, flavorful, perfectly balanced--you made that drink an experience all by itself. I will be back JUST for that. And let's talk about the vibe--the music, the energy, the atmosphere--it all came together in a way that made the entire visit feel GOOD. Not just food... a whole experience. But what really stands out is this: It has been a LONG time since I've experienced service this genuine, this intentional, and this excellent. Not rushed, not careless--EXCEPTIONAL. Management, if you are reading this--please understand--you have some powerful people on your team. Candalen and Aaron are the kind of employees that elevate a brand. From the menu we saw they were out of beef ribs, smoked chicken, rib tips, no peach cobbler, no banana pudding and no kool aid. I come for their brisket and my friend loves ribs so we went ahead and ordered combo plates to share. Mine was the brisket with a side of collard greens, she had the pork ribs, a hotlink with a side of Mac-n-cheese, & cornbread. For drinks we had lemonade and an Arnold Palmer. I'm not sure what has happened over the last few months but the quality of the food, the service and the expectation to pay and tip up front were very disappointing. The greens, Mac cheese, brisket and ribs were cold. The hotlink wasn't BBQ'ed it was pan fried. Everything tasted like warmed up leftovers and we will not return. For 2 of us to eat it came to $100 and we were not satisfied. The dining room is an attractive space, it was completely empty. The staff was unclear about what we ordered, had to be told to bring our drinks, bartender is also working as server and apologized for his uncertainty. I suggest this restaurant hire and train more staff if they intend to keep their doors open.

Multiple calls, texts, and voicemails went unanswered, leaving us scrambling to order pizza for roughly 50 guests at the last minute. A couple of days later, I was finally able to get in touch with Alex. He apologized, issued a full refund, and also offered a gift card to make up for the situation. I appreciated the apology and the refund. Unfortunately, despite following up a couple of times, I never received the gift card and communication stopped again. I understand that mistakes can happen, but following through on commitments matters too. This experience was incredibly disappointing.

It includes a Fried Chicken Thigh, Charred Lemon Pepper Sauce, House Pickles, Pear Slaw & Black Garlic Sauce on soft Brioche bun - very flavorful sandwich. I savored every bite! Hubby got a Black Garlic Fried Chicken Sandwich with Fried Chicken Thigh, Black Garlic Sauce, House Pickles & Pear Slaw on toasted brioche bun. He enjoyed it but it wasn't filling enough for him. So note, if you're 220 lbs or so, or if you have a bigger appetite, you might want to order a second sandwich or get the Fowl Fry Combo instead. Sandwiches run about $17 - totally worth it though. Savor every bite, and you won't be sorry!

A great chicken sandwich awaits you at Fowl + Fare in Alameda!…read more I finally had a chance to try this place! Fowl + Fare operates from a small storefront right next to the Shanvi Indian Grocery store on Santa Clara Ave (near Broadway). This place is either takeout or eat outside on picnic tables. I took my food to-go. I had the Citric Hot Chicken Sandwich w/ Seasoned Fries. I liked the Citric Hot Chicken Sandwich. It was spicy, but not numbing hot. The slaw sort of smoothed out the spicy heat. It's made from thigh meat, so it's moist and easy to eat. I didn't like the seasoned fries. They cut the potatoes into thin fries that don't travel well as takeout. Probably okay if you ate them right there, fresh from the kitchen. If I go back, I'm just getting a sandwich.....no fries.

My daughter suggested this place that I would be interested as having served in southeast states…read moreduring the Vietnam war. I love the food over there and I had the advantage of tasting it homemade so when I go to restaurants here I have a little bit more of an educated pallet. The menu is offering quite a few things that I would've liked to have tried, but there will be more visits in the future. So I got my order. I looked at it. The presentation was very nice. Everyone at the table shared with they were eating and I really enjoyed my experience here. I recommend this place to all who appreciate food from this part of the world. I'd like to return here soon.

Do you like the funk?…read more Our server explained to us the Lao version is more funky and fermented, while the Thai version is more mellow. We went with the Lao version. The Thai iced coffee was delicious and strong! As it should be. It did give me the jitters though because I'm a weak sauce. We were a party of ten and I was able to make rezzies via phone for a Friday evening at 6:30pm no problem about a week beforehand. The kiddos ordered à la carte, and five of us adults had the following: - BMV ultimate papaya platter with Lao sausage, angel wings and crispy pork. Crispy pork was legit, papaya salad definitely had that extra funk. The angel wings were crispy and meaty and my friends loved the Lao sausage. One even said "it's like tom yum soup in a sausage". It was very lemongrass forward which is not my thing, but that's my problem. I feel we could have ordered à la carte and that would have been a better deal than $75 for the platter. Some of it was fluff like the cabbage, rice and pork rinds. - Khao soy soup: Fiancé thought it would be creamy and coconut-y like the Thai version but it wasn't. I did enjoy the flat noodles but they were all stuck together. - Pia pla ka pow (fish with basil): Good one. The fish was moist and flavorful. The veggies were al dente and delicious too. - Sakoo: Unique! I enjoyed the chewy mochi exterior and the savory ground pork filling. It needed a sauce. I just used the chili sauce that was on the party platter. - Laab Gai: This fell flat for me. I'm not a huge fan of organs though. - Nam khao fried rice: One of our favorites! The crispy pieces really made this dish. Would definitely order this again. - Mango sticky rice: Served warm. Very sweet mango! - Purple rice with egg custard: Also served warm. This was ok. - Side of rice: HUGE serving! Unfortunately it was clumpy and hard, which means old. Street parking only. Get the nam khao and mango sticky rice!
