We've been visiting E&J bbq everytime we're in the area. They're bbq plates have always been consistent, plentiful, and delicious! I highly suggest you try this place if your in the mood for some great eats!! The 2nd best reason is the staff! They are so welcoming, our experience everytime weve visited!!

We stopped into Everett and Jones BBQ and knew right away we had made a good choice. The place was filled with locals just coming out of church, which always feels like a solid sign. I ordered the brisket and sausage with mac and cheese, potato salad, and cornbread. Everything on the plate was done well. The brisket was incredibly tender, the sauce had great flavor, and the sausage paired perfectly with it. The mac and cheese easily stood out, I could have eaten a whole bowl of it on its own. The potato salad and cornbread rounded everything out and made it a full, amazing meal. The atmosphere felt authentic and comfortable, and it is the kind of place you can tell people come back to regularly. This is easily one of the best BBQ spots I have eaten at, and a place I would go out of my way to visit again.

This was a nice way to enjoy our Sunday, indulged in BBQ. My mom and I ordered a 3 way combo with delicious sides. Our waiter Angie was very attentive and met all of our needs. The vibe was great with music playing and the Warriors game on, closed caption. We chose sides that complemented the BBQ, today was definitely a 10/10. Thank you Everett and Jones for continuing to be a staple in the community. #JackLondonSquare

This place brings back memories. I remembered the original location in Berkeley where you had to wait for a long time. Now there are multiple locations, and you can just walk in. There were three of us, and we definitely over ordered. We had enough leftovers to take home to feed two and maybe three people. We ordered the chicken/brisket/links platter AND another brisket and links platter AND another full slab of ribs. It was way too much food. The ribs were my favorite. Overall, the BBQ was good, but I feel like it's not what it used to be.

WHY WE WENT HERE: - dinner THE LOOK (FROM THE OUTSIDE): - located on the corner of Broadway and 2nd St in Jack London Square THE LOOK (FROM THE INSIDE): - traditional, industrial THE MENU: - lunches - dinners - combinations - sauce - salads - sides - desserts THE DRINKS MENU: - beer - draft, bottle - soft drinks - wine - house wines, white wines, Kendall-Jackson reserve wines, red wines, featured - cocktails - wines (by the glass) - vodka - cognac - tequila WHAT WE ORDERED: - watermelon lemonade - Four Four-Way Combination Plate - Collard greens (w/pork) - Baked beans - sweet potato pie THE TASTE: - watermelon lemonade was syrupy (for the watermelon flavor) and didn't have any tart lemonade taste to it - sides and dessert were good - combination plate was edible but the sauce was too overpowering CUSTOMER SERVICE: - Angel was our server and she was accommodating and friendly

We ordered Everett & Jones to cater our back to school event. The delivery service and the food was fantastic. We ordered beef hotlinks, pork ribs, BBQ chicken and cornbread. Everyone raved about how good the food was! Next year we will add more sides because their Mac-n-cheese, collard greens and candied yams are also very good!

when I tell you tonight was on another level whew. You could taste the love in the food. Everything was tender, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. The candy yams mixed with the mac & cheese?? Absolutely unreal. I'm literally in a food coma while writing this. I've had this place a few times in the past, and it was good but it did not hit like tonight. Whoever was in the kitchen today... please keep them. They did that.

3/3/25 Eating my daughter's left overs. So good.

Quality/Quantity - My daughter went to Planks, Everett & Jones and Dragon Gate; all in one NIGHT! Nice to be young, hip, etc... Anyways, she got the following and brought me back her leftovers. #6 Brisket and Link - The brisket was so SO tender! Wow, exactly how brisket should be made. The links were okay and the mac and cheese were good. But my daughter said everything was 5 stars for her. She also had beans and cornbread. I used to be a regular in their Berkeley location and saw Mary (one of the sisters, owners) often. Mary was so sweet and nice. Atmosphere - We feel this is the best location to visit as if they invested the most $$ in this beautiful location. Near one of the wineries I frequent, Rosenblum. Service - Good, caters to both tourists (the few that JLQ received, lol) and us locals. Price - Reasonably priced for BBQ. $35 + generous tip. Owner Comment - Congrats on all your success since 1973 and your 6 (7) locations. We have been regular customers (at your Berkeley location) since 2009. Well, we were customers prior to that but did not become "regulars" until 2009 in Berkeley, a no frills location.

After a day of traveling I was treated to this restaurant and could smell the aromas wafting through the air upon entry. I'm told that it's family owned and the recipes are straight fire. I ordered the chicken and brisket combo with Mac-n-cheese, and green beans. My friend ordered the spare ribs with baked beans and green beans. Now let's get down to it. The server was awesome and very attentive. The portion size was very good. The meat and sauce flavor phenomenal, as was the green beans; I didn't particularly care for the mac-n-cheese flavor as it had very little seasoning but lots of cheese. My friend truly enjoyed her meal. I would definitely recommend this spot. Sorry I didn't get pictures of the sides.

for Cali... I get the hype. It was good. But I'm from the Deep South, idk if they can hang down here tbh.... Service was good and staff was nice!

Had a taste for bbq. Was able to find a park, so that was a big plus to stop in for dinner. There was no wait, we were sat down immediately. Host was super nice. Service was a little slow, thinking that it's because there was only one hostess at the time. The beef has gotten a lot thinner and makes for a tougher bite. The links were amazing as usual. The yams were well seasoned and buttery. Mac and cheese lacked flavor. The cornbread was cold and dry. I will say, the meat is good- the sides are lacking.

Three way comb, Mom's Collard Greens (w/pork), Mac and cheese, corn on the cob, yams!

Ask the Community - Everett & Jones Barbeque

Do they take reservations?

Yes they do. They day I came they had a table rsvp for like 15 people.

Can they make the food really spicy?

During my visit they gave me mild, medium and hot options for my order. Medium wasn't too spicy in my opinion, but some of my friends said hot was "too hot" but if you're game for the challenge - hot 'tis! :)

Does anyone know a nice happy hour on Fridays for African Americans...Lol?

Everett and Jones' Q's lounge is okay. If your 50. The District and Lukas are real cool.

Then, you gotta do everything yourself. Keeping in mind the pricing and you would at least think you wouldn't have to get your own water?? And God forbid you want a separate tab, becasue now your ordering for yourself through a qr code like its doordash, just to find out that the website doesn't work when trying to pay, then they have the audacity to ask for a tip on the website?? Who am I tipping if I did everything myself? Anyways, we ended up just ordering through the waiter. I know that the restaurant is like this rustic millennial burger spot where they do odd stuff but this really threw me off. On top of this, I came with an elderly and when she asked for a water the waiter pretty rudely told her that it was self serving. Maybe this is nitpicking, and maybe we just got a bad apple, but our waiter seemed very unprofessional and spoke to us like we bullied him in high school. Additionally, while ordering, damn near the whole menu was out of stock. You would think that the two dollar charge for every ingredient added on your pizza would pay for some pesto. The menu is already not that big and suddenly it was reduced to only a couple of items. I would maybe understand if we had come later, but it was 4pm. Now for the famous outdoor seating, if you REALLY want to go here, please just eat inside. Yes it was cute, but leaves and seeds were constantly falling into our hair, drinks, and food. Maybe it would've been nicer to have lids on your cups so you weren't literally drinking around Lord-knows-what in your cup. Hopefully the seeds from the trees have protein, because I know I ate some. Finally, about the actual food, I will say that it was pretty good, and it came quickly! However, a burger from in n out or a pizza from blaze pizza is around the same quality for a more reasonable price. As for the pizza, it was pretty good and able to be shared with 2-3 people. Just avoid the "spicy" fries because they are just regular fries drowing in paprika lol. Overall, there are so many other cute spots like this around so just go to one of those.

The food in this place was good but the service was so bad at some point I felt like it was a torture. The place was kind of empty not too many table were full but the waiter just would be gone for long and wouldn't come ask if we needed anything. The wait between meals like appetizer and main course was so long not because of kitchen but the server was just gone for long at a stretch. I had to ask him to come and same with after our meal was finished he never came to ask if we needed dessert, The waiter on other table saw us a few times and he finally came and gave us a menu. I really wanted to try a dessert but was scared this will again take us another hour to even get the server to come and get our order. On top of really slow service there was an older man who sat in the table next to us and kept talking to us looking at our food. He literally was asking me if you support trump do you like him. He kept telling us how he knew the owner and his wife and has come to this place for 100 times over years and everything is free for him here. This was all ok but I wasn't sure why he wasn't letting us eat our meal in peace. At some point he became a little racist as well, when we tried to take our food goto he told us i won't take this goto. I never take this goto. And then was like ohh you are from India and it felt so uncomfortable. He was like do you watch fox, I watch fox. Then was like I have cable, I don't try to save money. Do you have cable.. omg never ending interrogation and also kept looking at our food and table and what we were eating and kept commenting on that. I understand this restaurant might have some old and familiar guest or important people come to this place but they should understand other guest should still be able to enjoy there meal without being bothered by the people who are known. It was one of my worse restaurant experiences, the service and on top of this man who somehow is VIP guest at this place made it so hard for us to have our date night meal in peace. I literally tried to run away from this place. This was almost 2 hrs long ordeal. We came a little before 6 and left at 8 and I never eat for that long. I'll NEVER go to this place again even though I loved the food.

And let me tell you... when I got home and opened that bag, I was honestly blown away. My food was packaged with so much care, precision, and pride--it was neat, organized, and handled like it actually mattered. That alone told me everything about the level of service in that building. Candalen--YOU DID THAT. The attention to detail on my plate did not go unnoticed. You treated my food like it was being served in-house, and that speaks volumes about your work ethic and pride in what you do. Aaron--listen... that peach lemon drop??? BABY. That was my first time trying one and it was EVERYTHING. Smooth, flavorful, perfectly balanced--you made that drink an experience all by itself. I will be back JUST for that. And let's talk about the vibe--the music, the energy, the atmosphere--it all came together in a way that made the entire visit feel GOOD. Not just food... a whole experience. But what really stands out is this: It has been a LONG time since I've experienced service this genuine, this intentional, and this excellent. Not rushed, not careless--EXCEPTIONAL. Management, if you are reading this--please understand--you have some powerful people on your team. Candalen and Aaron are the kind of employees that elevate a brand. They are the reason people come back. They are the reason I will be telling others. This wasn't just a good experience. This was the kind of experience that turns customers into loyal supporters. I will absolutely be back--and I will be bringing people with me. Until next time, WUHAPN NATION

Finally, we were so excited to see it was open on a Saturday an we came in for lunch. To order you need to scan the QR code and pay plus tip before a single person spoke to us or offered us help. From the menu we saw they were out of beef ribs, smoked chicken, rib tips, no peach cobbler, no banana pudding and no kool aid. I come for their brisket and my friend loves ribs so we went ahead and ordered combo plates to share. Mine was the brisket with a side of collard greens, she had the pork ribs, a hotlink with a side of Mac-n-cheese, & cornbread. For drinks we had lemonade and an Arnold Palmer. I'm not sure what has happened over the last few months but the quality of the food, the service and the expectation to pay and tip up front were very disappointing. The greens, Mac cheese, brisket and ribs were cold. The hotlink wasn't BBQ'ed it was pan fried. Everything tasted like warmed up leftovers and we will not return. For 2 of us to eat it came to $100 and we were not satisfied. The dining room is an attractive space, it was completely empty. The staff was unclear about what we ordered, had to be told to bring our drinks, bartender is also working as server and apologized for his uncertainty. I suggest this restaurant hire and train more staff if they intend to keep their doors open.

While this visit was in between the lunch and dinner rush, unfortunately I think they are understaffed because at the time we sat down there was only 1 person who was busing tables and taking orders. As a result, it took a while for them to be able to stop by our table and provide water, take our order, etc. There was quite a long wait between sitting down to ordering to actually receiving our food. By the time we had actually received our food, almost an hour had passed. While we were waiting, a few other servers eventually joined, but service was still pretty bare for us and we never received refills on water or plates to eat off of when we received our food. I understand that staffing and a backup in the kitchen are out of the staff's control, but it would've definitely helped for us to know in advance how long to expect to wait to align our expectations and arrange our plans for the day. Would advise giving customers a quick heads up/warning because that on its own would've made a big difference. As for the actual food, we ordered the mac trio with elote mac, chicken pot pie mac, and kogi short rib mac (for an extra fee). The elote mac was the best and most flavorful, the short rib mac was okay but not amazing or worth the extra money, and the chicken pot pie mac was very bland/flavorless and didn't have much chicken in it. The food didn't feel like it warranted the wait time and because of that I would not return.

Well this ended up being kind of a bummer today. Not a very attractive place, but we chose it…read moreknowing it was a diner, so expectations of decor were limited. The waitress looked comfortable wearing her pajamas and the cook in his shorts and t-shirt.... Odd, but whatever. Some standard tables and chairs and a cooler in the dining area for drinks. Handy, I suppose. Or, maybe that was the only outlet available? Who knows? Added character! Haha I'll share some positive notes: The French fries were great! Perfectly crisp outside and tender in! We ordered the pulled pork fries as an appetizer. It was okay. The pork tasted a little off, but not quite sure why. My daughter's cheeseburger was fine. My friends sandwich, BLT was also fine. Things went south from here. My sandwich was the brisket and the waitress said it was her favorite. Well... everybody has different tastes I guess because I felt like it was gross. The meat tasted old and it was absolutely the messiest sandwich in the Kingdom of Messy Sandwiches. I'm OK, in general, with messy sandwiches, but in this case it was extreme. I needed a bib and wet wipes in abundance. It came with a salad, which would have been great, except they absolutely DROWNED it in an apple cider vinegar dressing. The thing is, the dressing had a wonderful flavor, and it would have been quite lovely had it not been so cloying and gooped on so massively. It was literally inedible. So after three bites of the sandwich and one bite of the salad, I decided to send it back. The whole plate was just nasty. And this is where my rating went from a 3 or 4 stars to a two. First the waitress was extremely confused. Okaaay.... So she went to talk to the cook who then came out to argue with me. I was trying hard not to be rude. I just wanted to let them know that I didn't want the sandwich and they needed to take it back. I told him that I didn't like it. He proceeds to tell me that it is everyone's favorite, their most popular sandwich. That all of their sandwiches are messy. ( The BLT and the hamburger were not. They were normal) so I tell them that despite other people liking it apparently I did not. I explained how there was too much salad dressing and that the meat tasted old to me. They acted like they had no idea what to do with this feedback. I said please just take this plate away from our table. I was not paying the bill so I do not know for sure if they charged for it or not. But yuck. Who argues with a customer? Especially when it's about taste and perceived quality, as we all have different taste buds that's why there's a menu of different options available at restaurants! I worked in restaurants for many years of my life. I hate sending things back and I don't do it unless it is really bad or really not what I ordered. It's very uncomfortable to be confrontational at all with anyone at any time, but the reality is when we are paying for something we want it to be good and if it is not good we need to be able to speak up about it and hold them accountable to an inferior quality product. They made that very difficult.

My only question is....WHY haven't I been here sooner?! I…read morewas craving pastrami, so I looked on yelp for pastrami in the area. My mom and I came in around 2pm on Monday (8/11). It's a cute delicatessen/restaurant. You order at the counter and they bring your food to you. Immediately the staff was so friendly and welcoming. The woman at the register was very nice and asked if we had any questions. My mom and I shared a pastrami sandwich, Brussels sprouts, fries, and slaw. It was reasonably priced for the Bay Area. When they brought the food to the table I was shocked. Everything looked amazing and very appetizing, and the portions were much bigger than expected. Before she brought the sandwich over, she asked if we were sharing it and was so nice to split it into 2 plates for us. That was very kind for her to do. Let's start with the French fries. Omg they were perfectly crisp but still fluffy on the inside. They had so much flavor probably because of the beef tallow and had just the right amount of salt on them. There was a side of mayonnaise with the fries, and it tasted homemade. I meant to ask them if it was. It was very good lol I couldn't get enough. The poppyseed slaw was very refreshing and it was tangy and sweet. We loved that the cabbage remained crispy and it was great for a warm day. The fried Brussels sprouts were full of flavor. They were a nice balance of sweet and salty. I loved the bacon on them. The hot pastrami sandwich definitely satisfied my pastrami craving! There was just the right ratio of meat-cheese-sauerkraut-mustard-dressing. The bread tasted freshly baked as well. It was full of flavor. And the side salad that came with the sandwich was excellent. We loved the tanginess of the dressing. We were shocked that there wasn't more people inside, but also for 2pm on a Monday, it probably was just an off hour. We had so many leftovers as we both don't eat very much, but lol as soon as I got home I started eating some more of the slaw and salad. Can't wait to eat the rest for lunch tomorrow. We are already planning on coming back to try the meatballs next time and definitely trying their Indian cuisine! I'll have to bring my husband here next. Thank you guys for an amazing lunch!

I think I enjoyed these fries because they remind me of SCOLARI'S friends, heh. I was surprised I did not see o any of their merch for sale because I'm digging that carton character icon! The brewery it shared a space with has a decent amount of merch though!

Quality/Quantity - We almost did NOT come today. After circling for parking 3+ times, I told the…read morefamily if we don't find a space this last drive by, we will go to a different place for dinner and a different brewery! Got lucky and parked two blocks away. Lovely's restaurant is also here on the Two Pitchers Brewing premises. See pictures and other 5 star Yelp review. The food was amazing! I was worried when I first saw what my daughter and wife ordered as that was not my wife's usual type of food.. Corn Fritters - My order. The oil they fried this in was dark; I was worried that the oil was old...? But it tasted fresh and good. I would get this again, but prefer a lighter oil next time please. The Chili Willie - My wife's order?!?! And this was good. The jalapenos gave it the perfect kick. I told my wife I am here for the beer, and as light eaters I just wanted to share something with them. Classic Fried Chicken Sandwich - No surprise my daughter's order. Well she wanted your sold out Fish & Chips (which is weird because I think she ate that last night also...?). This was also made-to-order fresh! The chicken had a good crisp until the last bite and was moist inside! Fried perfectly. She also ordered Chili Cheese Fries with that; I guess that is the theme today. Lastly, the soft serve looked so good but too bad it would clash with my beer drinking, lol. To compliment my dinner, or the other way around, lol. Two Pitchers Brewing: 10 of their beers are on tap and the rest are guests' taps. So of course, I had to try their $3 Signature Lager which was too light for me. You basically get what you pay for. Next... Pale Ale - $7, now that's more like it! No IPA today, so I had to settle. My daughter got the Yard Bird, Strawberry Lemonade Beer; it suited her. Ready for my 3rd beer, when my daughter said she wanted to go home and party some more?!?! So I abided. Ambiance - Cool space. Lots of semi private spaces that you can rent. See pictures or their website. Very kid and dog friendly! Unisex restrooms with outside sinks, thank you! NO parking! So bad on a Saturday evening, that we almost did not come. Open 6 days a week. See pictures or their website. Closed on Mondays. Service - Counters service. For both Lovely's and the bar. The outdoor bar is WAY faster service than the inside bar, just an FYI. Same team, but more organized. Price - $49 + generous tip. Including a 3% operations fee/credit card fee, see the small print on the very bottom of the menu. Expensive, even for the Bay Area. But that is the price for quality. 20% gratuity for orders over $250. Owner Comment - Congrats to the building since 1919. Congrats on your success since 2021. Glad we were able to visit. Are you the same owners as Two Pitchers Brewing?

Inside there's the actual bar area that's low lit and more intimate and a bigger seating area with huge TV screens. Cocktails were good. We went with the Spicy Lil Burro which was a spicy margarita with honey and lime. The Nikkei Margarita which was a tamarind margarita was also solid. Started with the Brussels Sprouts which had the perfect glaze and the almonds added an extra crunch to them. The Fish-N-Chips were fresh and perfectly battered. Fries golden crispy. The Yard Birds was the winner of the night. Succulent and juicy inside but crunchy on the outside. Great portion of chicken. The biscuit was fluffy and paired well with the hot honey and chicken. The Mac salad was okay. It had a little flavor out of the ordinary that didn't taste great. Service was good and attentive. Parking can be difficult and limited as they share a parking lot with a cannabis shop and the security is strict. There is some street parking around

Came here for a light bite / happy hour before my flight and experienced the worst service ever…read more This place is across from a dispensary and offers ample parking. The inside has a nice modern look and there is a lounge to the side open for happy hour. We sat in there which has its own bar. It is very cozy. My husband ordered a Caesar salad and I ordered the French Onion soup with a bacon grilled cheese. Our waiter started off well but when he came to get our orders he didn't write anything down and I had to repeat myself twice. The first time he was facing my husband, the second he came to my side and I pointed at the menu while slowly repeating my order. I simply wanted a grilled cheese with bacon added no avocado as it is advertised as an add on, on the menu. As he walked away a part of me knew my order was going to be messed up. Low and behold my soup arrives with a side of bacon. I then explained again what I ordered. A few moments pass and he comes back and then my husband explains what I wanted. I'm not sure if it was a language barrier but it just didn't seem to register. I truly did not think asking for soup & bacon grilled cheese would be so difficult. By this time my husband had already received his salad which was delicious. Finally, he comes back with my soup, a grilled cheese and the bacon ON THE SIDE. If I ordered a bacon grilled cheese why would you give me like this? Why not make my grilled cheese and add the bacon inside? To make matters worse the French onion soup was so bland not even salt could save it. It tasted like a nothingness broth. The grilled cheese was better once I made it myself. The waiter never came back to check on us. The manager hovered by for a while but we had to even flag him down for the check. I left hungry and got a meal at the airport. Would not recommend. If you can't remember an order as a waiter please just write it down.
