Had a great experience at Monkey King at the Brewery. I ordered the lemon chicken with rice and the salt and pepper chicken with fries and garlic noodles, and everything came out very flavorful and satisfying. The chicken had a nice crispy crunch on the outside while staying hot and juicy inside, which really stood out. The space is a big plus plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, making it comfortable and very kid-friendly. It's a great spot to hang out without feeling cramped. On weekends, there's also a BBQ spot next door that I was told is a must-try. Apparently it always has a line down the street and sells out, so the wait is definitely part of the experience and worth it if you've got the time. Didn't get a chance to try the gelato this time, but it looked amazing definitely on the list for next visit. Overall, really solid food and a chill atmosphere. Would definitely come back. read more

Cajun rice was really good! Cajun noodles were well liked too. Dry fried ribs are different than they used to be. They were soft this time - not crunchy, and even though I requested extra chopped jalapeños and garlic (I think) I didn't receive it. The garlic isn't pungent or flavorful which was disappointing. Went here to watch a World Cup game. The food was amazing . I had the spam fried rice, chow mein, wings, and the garlic shrimp with rice. Everything was delicious. The service was fast and friendly. You do need to go next door to get your beer, but no problem to do that. The beer selection a good blend of IPAs and Lagers. The ambiance was super fun, and specially with the World Cup going on. The quality of the food took a major hit! I use to love Monkey King food. I don't know what is going on at this Alameda location, I ordered my usual crab fried rice and it had less than a handful of crab in it. They use to load it with crab meat! This is a small restaurant located in downtown Alameda. The menu is eclectic, with a mix of Asian-inspired and Southern comfort dishes. You'll find everything from Korean gochujang wings and kimchi fried rice to Filipino pork lumpia and homemade gumbo. We tried the lemon pepper boneless chicken with fries, which came out to about $16 with tax. The chicken was flavorful, tender, and well-seasoned, and the fries reminded me a bit of McDonald's--though I wish they had been crispier. Next time I might ask if they can make them extra crispy. The portions were solid, and overall it felt like a good value. The indoor dining area is very casual with plenty of seating, and there's also a covered outdoor patio with heat lamps and string lights--perfect for chillier nights. It's right across from Alameda Island Brewing Company, so it's easy to grab a beer before or after your meal. AMAZING!!!!!!!!! I took my grandma to eat here for lunch the other day and it was amazing . I've been here before at the other location , but it was closed so we went to this one. We ordered the food and was suggested to order our to - go food after we eat because it was all going to come out at once. So that was helpful. No longer than 7 minutes later the lumpia had came out fresh and hot. Then the food came out right after. The only bad thing was that is was like cafeteria style where they serve the food then if you need extra stuff you have to get there attention and see if they come or keep getting up and asking for things. Other than that the food was great nice and hot. I got new things to try and they were really really good. Ordered takeout and was extremely disappointed. I ordered wings - lemon pepper flavored and added a side of fries and a side of ranch. Wings were crispy but it was extremely salty. It tasted like it was drenched in salt. The fries were limp and undercooked. These fries probably were sitting out for awhile. The ranch was additional cost and it was the most watered down ranch I ever tasted. I could have bought a bottle or ranch at Safeway and it would have been better. Going off of memory, the food doesn't taste the same. The place wasn't too full. You order at the register then grab your seat. I received my order almost immediately. It was piping hot. Second visit, the food is always good. The customer service is terrible, and the ambiance in the brewery side is chill. I went for specific dishes, which included the Crab Fried Rice which is one of my favorites. I also came for the Thai Iced Tea and they said they ran out. On a Saturday? You would think they would plan better for a weekend rush, but as I said, the customer service is not the best. At all. Ordered the Hanoi chicken wings, they were really good. Fried to perfection with lots of flavor. The Garlic Noodles with Fried Chicken bites was very good. The noodles were thick, Yakisoba noodles instead of the thin noodles, but still very delicious. Also ordered the Gumbo, which is NOT the traditional Gumbo you would get at a Creole restaurant. This was tomato based, with a sweet flavor and a kick to it. On a scale of 1-10, I would give it a 4.5-5. Definitely do not have to try it again. Food is good, service is bad, what can you do? Get the food to go and call it a day. read more

Tasty and affordable! I'd recommend getting the fried wings and adding on the garlic noodles to make it a full meal. You have the choice of bone-in or boneless wings. They have a large assortment of wing flavors. I played it safe and ordered the salt and pepper wings (with fries) and added on the garlic noodles. The salt and pepper wings were similar to what you would get at a chinese takeout spot so even though it's tasty, I'd recommend trying something new. The person at the counter recommended THIS and THAT. The Hanoi flavored wings also look unique. Next time I'll probably switch it up and also try adding on the tator tots or opting for fried rice. I have had their salt and pepper chicken wings before and remembered it was packed with flavor and the skin was fried to a nice crispy texture. So today, decided to try the general tso flavor and it also did not disappoint. Added the garlic noodles (they use udon noodles) this time and their lemonade. The most confusing thing about this place is that there is no Brewery. There's one next door, though. We stopped in while waiting for something. We weren't really sure what to expect, but we were not disappointed! I got the garlic noodles with chicken, and my partner got the Monkey King rice. Both were solid portions! Their unhealthy greasy food is so so GOOD! I used to only allow myself the privilege of coming once a month. But back then, before Alameda Island Brewery, I got my usual "Arrogant Bastard" to go with my dinner. So so happy! With the exception of the few fries that came with the salt & pepper wings, all portions are decent. Atmosphere - I usually take my food over to the brewery. But they have plenty of seating. A small ice cream selection. Clean bathrooms. Same shared parking lot in the back with the other businesses/brewery. Open 7 days a week from noon to 9pm, 10pm on Friday & Sat. I am not even confident that the 1315 Park Street location still stays open till 2am. Service - Okay, again I have always taken my food to-go and eaten it at the brewery. Price - $45, very reasonable for what we got. Of course we almost spend the same on beer at the brewery... Owner Comment - Congrats on your success and 3 locations. Love this place!! We use to go to the other location all the time but it's always so busy! Lemon pepper wings were so good! Crispy and tasty. Dry fried ribs and fries were 8/10 I wish the ribs had more meat. It was fatty and lots of big bone pieces. It's no my usual dry fried rib pieces that I'm use too. I wish the fries had more flavor or salt. We also got jambalaya fried rice, all for less than $40! I'll be back for the wings! They have so many flavor options. Staff is really nice.
