While visiting Alameda Brewing, I was hungry for dinner. They don't have their own menu, but partner with Monkey King next door. You order there, and you can eat at the brewery. I was craving something more filling so I got a chicken fried rice, that was super flavorful. Portions are large for the price as well. They have a large menu. The workers were very friendly and made ordering simple; food is ready quickly too. They have their own seating as well, plus some in the shared mall area.

My relatives were in town so we stopped at the Alameda Brewery for drinks and order food from Monkey King next door. We ordered General Zhou's wings, green beans with tofu, crab fried rice and garlic noodles. We shared these 4 dishes and all of our food was great! We ate it so fast I forgot to snap a picture, next time because

Cajun rice was really good! Cajun noodles were well liked too. Dry fried ribs are different than they used to be. They were soft this time - not crunchy, and even though I requested extra chopped jalapeños and garlic (I think) I didn't receive it. The garlic isn't pungent or flavorful which was disappointing. I might try the salt and pepper chicken wings next time. Overall not a bad dining experience.

Food is great service is great. I forgot the man who helped me. It was a Hispanic heavyset man, but he's so funny and he suggested his sauce that was amazing and the service is good.

The food here is really good. So next time I'd order to-go. We got the Mongolian Beef noodles & the ABC wings, both were amazing, not greasy or too salty. We came in the early afternoon and the music playing was so loud we could barely hear the person taking our order. The staff was also not the friendliest to deal with.

My girlfriend is brought to eat there. This is the next day.

Well although there has been a few Administration and management changes in the way the restaurant operates now. The food is still on point ! We awaited for a waiter for the longest but now you have to go up to the cash register first and make your order and pay for it then sit down at a table. I recommend everything on this menu is soooo food. I usually get the crab fried rice honey walnut prawns and chicken pepper wings. We always get a table soread and pig out for hours!

This is a small restaurant located in downtown Alameda. The menu is eclectic, with a mix of Asian-inspired and Southern comfort dishes. You'll find everything from Korean gochujang wings and kimchi fried rice to Filipino pork lumpia and homemade gumbo. We tried the lemon pepper boneless chicken with fries, which came out to about $16 with tax. The chicken was flavorful, tender, and well-seasoned, and the fries reminded me a bit of McDonald's--though I wish they had been crispier. Next time I might ask if they can make them extra crispy. The portions were solid, and overall it felt like a good value. The indoor dining area is very casual with plenty of seating, and there's also a covered outdoor patio with heat lamps and string lights--perfect for chillier nights. It's right across from Alameda Island Brewing Company, so it's easy to grab a beer before or after your meal. There's also an ice cream shop attached, which I didn't try this time, but it's nice to have the option. Overall, I'd recommend checking it out if you're in the area. I'd come back to try more dishes.

AMAZING!!!!!!!!! I took my grandma to eat here for lunch the other day and it was amazing . I've been here before at the other location , but it was closed so we went to this one. We ordered the food and was suggested to order our to - go food after we eat because it was all going to come out at once. So that was helpful. No longer than 7 minutes later the lumpia had came out fresh and hot. Then the food came out right after. The only bad thing was that is was like cafeteria style where they serve the food then if you need extra stuff you have to get there attention and see if they come or keep getting up and asking for things. Other than that the food was great nice and hot. I got new things to try and they were really really good. We also got food to go for my mother who wasn't there with us. 10/10 definitely recommend

Ordered takeout and was extremely disappointed. I ordered wings - lemon pepper flavored and added a side of fries and a side of ranch. Wings were crispy but it was extremely salty. It tasted like it was drenched in salt. The fries were limp and undercooked. These fries probably were sitting out for awhile. The ranch was additional cost and it was the most watered down ranch I ever tasted. I could have bought a bottle or ranch at Safeway and it would have been better. Ambiance inside is clean and had an ice cream/gelato area. Service is quick. Upon arrival my order was ready.

Eh. The food wasn't impressive but the atmosphere is clutch. I haven't been to the OG location in years. Last I remember the chicken and fries were delicious. Going off of memory, the food doesn't taste the same. The place wasn't too full. You order at the register then grab your seat. I received my order almost immediately. It was piping hot. The presentation is nice. Lots of garlic and some jalapeños. Unfortunately, it had no flavor. In my opinion of course. I would still recommend this place though. It's a nice chill place to hang out, chit chat and watch the game whilst plenty affordable food options Side note: They also sell gelato

I'm writing this review to share for those exploring…read moreAlameda Island that Southern Comfort Kitchen has a few locations throughout the East Bay (and many may know this restaurant for its food truck), but they now has a new(er) location in Alameda. As a parent, I never knew how much I would appreciate a drive-thru at spots like Walgreens, Starbucks, and now, an actual restaurant! It's the little things sometimes that really help to take the heavy lift off, while giving back the flexibility and energy to the driver :) While I can't speak for the interior of the restaurant, we did roll through the drive-thru to test it out over the weekend while exploring Alameda and all of its charm. On a Saturday evening it seemed like they were pretty swamped, and no one was responding at the drive-thru window so we figured maybe it was closed. We pulled up and my husband got out of the car to confirm before we pulled away with a worker inside the restaurant and they apologized. Almost immediately someone came to the window and gave us printed menus because we had already passed the digital menu part of the drive-thru. We ordered hush puppies, a fried shrimp po' boy sandwich, mac n' cheese, and bread pudding. Oh wee, we had a feast when we arrived home and reheated everything! I think they may still be working out some kinks, but I'm open to trying the drive-thru again next time we're in town post brewery fun. A drive-thru in the East Bay for Cajun bites? Very cool! I've explored their menu before and wow, that bread pudding! Special. Would go back for that alone to try it hot from the oven!

I ordered to-go blackened fish platter with red beans and rice, and a chicken sandwich with fries. It took 30 min for the food to come out and when I opened the fish, it wasn't even slightly warm (mmm, room temperature fish!). What's more disappointing is that everything was severely overcooked and dry and nothing tasted remotely Cajun or appetizing. This place isn't exactly cheap, either. And all I can say about the ambience is it's got a cafeteria vibe. Anyway, I gave it two stars because the front people are at least friendly, but I in no way, shape or form recommend this restaurant.

I really like how they let you build your seafood experience exactly how you want it, from the type of seafood to the seasoning and spice level. The only thing was I think the spice level could've been kicked up a notch. Our table ordered a mix of oysters, garlic noodles, Cajun fries, shrimp, crawfish, mussels, which came with corn, potatoes, sausage and hard boiled egg! The seafood was fresh and the sauce coated everything nicely without being overwhelmingly salty, and the corn and potatoes soaked up all the seasoning. All for a very reasonable price if you get the combo, which comes in 3 different tiers! The oysters were a standout--fresh, briny & I loved all the different sauces like horse radish and cocktail on the side. I do wish the fries were a bit more crispy and could've gone heavier with the Cajun seasoning, but that's personal preference. The atmosphere is casual, lively, and perfect for big groups. If the restaurant serves frozen crawfish, that's fine, but customers should be given accurate information when they ask directly about the product right? Parking is a bit difficult but we managed to find street parking a block away. Wasn't too crowded and there was plenty of seating inside. You order first and you find a table to sit, and they bring out the food to you. Self serve water is available. The food came out pretty quick! Thoughts: - Lobster roll (classic) was delicious! Generous amount of lobster. Would definitely get this again. Chips weren't too great though. - Fried shrimp basket was nice. Shrimp was crispy and tasty. Fries were also very crispy and flavorful. The sauces go well with the shrimp/fries. Coleslaw isn't the best though. - The crab nachos were surprisingly good. A nice cheese sauce combo with pico/avocado crema and a good amount of crab. - Garlic noodles were fine, nothing standout about them. - Mix and match basket with catfish, cod, and calamari (not pictured): Catfish was solid (would highly recommend, one of the favorites of the meal!), but would pass on the cod and calamari - a bit dry/fishy. Would recommend for a casual spot for seafood and a nice view!

Anyone remember the Jack London Village that they tore down to build this end of the development? Anyways - this is a fast casual type spot, where you order from the counter, place the little number sign on your table and wait for it to be delivered. The menu is your standard seafood joint by the water type, with all the usual suspects represented. Fried fish, shrimp, chowder, seafood pastas--if you've ever been to a seaside seafood joint, chances are good that the menu here is exactly like the one you remember seeing at the countless other places like this one. I noticed right off the bat that their pricing structure was on the high side - with a $17 burger and fries option, with the bulk of the fried seafood options in the $22-25 range. A cheaper choice might be the $16 fish tacos (two of them) but I kind of draw the line at paying $8 for a single taco. Our table ordered a few of the fried options plus a few soda beverages. The food arrived in a reasonable amount of time, and I noticed that the silver metal trays that the food comes on is a bit on the small side, especially considering the prices for each dish. The fried shrimp dish was a big scoop of mega-salty french fries, and 3 average sized deep fried shrimp. Yes - 3 as in 1, 2, 3. That's what - $7+ a shrimp? The two fried fish platters weren't much better portion-wise. My deep fried cod consisted of three modest sized fish-fingers, and not the single luscious chunk of perfectly fried cod I had imagined in my head when ordering. They were fine - but very average and nothing that stood out as life-changing or something to write home about. As mentioned earlier, they must be employing the Little Rascals method where they over salt everything, in hopes that you'll order another beverage to wash down the copious mounts of sodium (I figure about 4+ days worth). The fried catfish platter that rounded out our order was more of the same - thin meager portions of fish on a large bed of mega-salted fries. Small plastic containers of generic pre-made tartar sauce and coleslaw can with each platter. The coleslaw was fine - just very forgettable and perhaps a tad on the flavorless/watery side. All said, was it okay? Yes. Was it anything outstanding that I'd crave and plan my return to have again? No. It is in line with touristy by-the-Sea seafood places that charge an extra couple of bucks because they're "on the water"? Pretty much. You're paying for the view and the 'scene' of sitting on the patio out front to people watch, and not for the food. I kind of hate these places and normally try my best to stay away from them, but every once in awhile, you gotta put on your tourist hat and join the mindless flock. A meager 2 stars outta 5 from me. Instead, I'd stroll around this area on a Sunday when they hold the farmer's market (again - is not what it used to be) and then drive through the tube to Alameda where great dining spots are numerous on Park Street. You can stop at Crab Cove and Crown Beach on the way, for more touristy sightseeing.

The server/host for the afternoon, Paul, was absolutely great, friendly, and made me feel at home. While I waited for my guest, I ordered the tostones (twice fried green plantains) and the Island Vibes Rum Punch. Tostones came out crisp, hot, and with an aioli dip. Just delicious. Maybe could have used a touch more salt, but still yummy. The aioli was a great addition. My cocktail was also delicious and I could have easily put a few of those away. But... work. When my guest arrived, we ordered a couple of dishes to share: Dominican "Spaghetti" (Udon noodle, confit garlic, pork longaniza, beef salchichon, tomato sazonado) and the El Barrio Picadera (Chicharron de puerco - crispy pork belly, beef salchichon, pork longaniza, lime, pickled red onion, honey mojo, and a side of tostones). Wasn't sure what to expect from the spaghetti but it was slurpingly delicious. The sauce was savory, not sweet, and the pieces of pork sausage and beef were perfect additions. The Picadera was equally great, almost like a tapas plate of assorted meats. The crispy pork belly had lots of tasty fat to add flavor and moisture. Def enough food for two.
