grew up in this area and witnessed the build-up of their kitchen & mixed drink packs (u gotta go read the drink mix-pack names, always brings me joy)! i come back to this area just to stop by and get food from Big Baba Eats, 10/10 recommend. great food and good vibes its the closest u can get to the feeling of a nyc bodega in SF style lol. pro tip: call ahead with your food order 10 minutes in advance if u r tight on time or tryna catch muni and cant wait for your food order to b prepared!

I've now had both a Philly and Chopped Cheese here. Both were generously portioned and packs flavor. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This corner store packs characteristics of a NYC Bodega which is fantastic.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

I am into it. You would never assume from the exterior that this corner deli/market dishes out great grub, but that's exactly what you'll get and you'll get it at a great price. Burgers come out hot and fresh to order, and their fries are twice fried. Nothing better than some great eats at a hole in the wall for a good price. I'll be back for another burger soon!

Kofta and lamb shawarma...Omg the best! Philly cheesesteak and bacon cheeseburgers! Garlic fries better than Beeps!

Before heading off to our family gathering, called, "Thanksgiving Dinner", I dashed 2 sandwiches and fries. I had delivered Philly Cheese Steak, Chopped Cheese and Garlic Fries to my spot. I can't complain about the service. The dasher delivered on time as expected (45 minutes) and the Chopped Cheese was still piping hot. The beef in both sandwiches were of decent quality and were stacked moderately on the inside. I preferred the Choppy Cheese over the Philly since it had a more "meaty" bite to it thanks to the ground beef chunks. I reheated my Chopped Cheese and the bread was outstandingly crisp, with a very soft texture inside. It wasn't " my type" of bread but it did the job. Both sandwiches were decent, except for the fries. The fries were shoestrings topped with the standard garlic-parsley mix. The quality could have been better, but since it was a 45 minute wait, I could understand what my Garlic Fries went through. I've never been inside Big Baba but I've always imagined it be some New York Deli in the hood, guarded by a feline pet store manager for a supervisor.

SCAMMERS!! Used my debit card information for an international purchase. Never gave me a receipt either. Never again.

WARNING!! PLEASE READ THIS! Do not come here. I used my debit card here and they used my information to make unauthorized purchases. The cashier also asked a lot of questions about where I was from and if it was my first time there. He continuously analyzed my outfit was staring at my wallet (luxury brand) while I was taking out my card to pay for my Food. He never gave me a receipt. Please be vigilant!!!!!

I like kofta more the beef shawarma plate because there was more flavor and char. The rice was delicious too. Taboleh salad felt a few days old. The garlic sauce was bomb. Drove home to eat it and it was still delicious. The whole place had drunk food/munchies vibe but don't let that fool you, I would definitely come back again for the kofta! Husband had the wrap and he said they plates were tastier.

Where do I start? First, I didn't take pictures of the food because I already ate it . The place (family market) is a nice corner store that sells everything from liquor to groceries with a kitchen attached (The big baba)! We tried their Philly cheese steak and it's super tasty and filling! We tried the kofta plate and the chicken shawarma plate. The meats are great and the side fries are super tasty and crispy! Garlic fries is a bomb! Prices are fair, food is delicious, and quantities are big. Highly recommended! Will be back!

Shukran habibi! First time going here, it was such a cutty spot. I took the M train from Balboa Park to get there. At first I didn't know where to find the spot, but I figured it was inside the Family Market. Store is packed out with all your essentials. And I mean, all your essentials. If you want to get jiggy, and get some strong bag cocktails; they serve a ton of bags in here. A way broader selection than Mr. Liquor down on 23rd and Valencia. And cheaper too. This spot is like Mr. Liquor; but on crack, but let's dive into the food experience. Now what surprised me the most was they had this one particular item on the menu. I didn't believe it at first, but it was the CHOPPED CHEESE. I thought it was NY thing, but they brought it out here in the Bay. My Habibi and habibtis; listen up, the sandwich was huge. Pause. Unevenly cut, but the chopped cheese was the reach of the lower part of my forearm. Ingredients they used for stupidly fresh, and every bite I took I damn near wanted to cry of joy. It was a top 10 experience for me when it came to eating food in general. I couldn't finish the entire thing, and I had the late night munchies. Forgot how much I paid but it was like around $16-$17 and I would not mind paying that again for how blessed and packed out that chopped cheese was. Days after, I tried their beef shawarma. Again, the same experience. Not as big as the chopped cheese, but it was absolutely blessed at every bite I took. They threw on this garlic sauce that just made every bite orgasmic. Beef was fresh brother. You gotta give these people props for bringing some of the freshest foods to the Bity. Definitely will come back soon. Shukran habibi, much love to the owners and people that work here. Be patient with your order, and trust me. It's gas. Habibi behind the counter is real genuine. Much love habibi, and again like I say every time when visiting spots like these. Don't be weird and look at these people when they're making your food. Lol. Let them work their magic, and be patient with them. Trust the process brothers and sisters.

Big Baba was bomb! The chicken shawarma and beef kofta wrap were huge, perfect blend of flavorful sauce and spice(we had it medium spice). Also had 6 wings with the buffalo sauce and the teenager loved their BLT, It takes a minute to get the food as they make it fresh. They also have fun alcohol mixer grab bags for good cocktails. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Counter order, no seats/tables, so we walked up to Minnie and Lovie park and ate on the benches.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Definitely going back if in the area.

Chicken plate - 3 stars. Good flavors, but the chicken was dry. Sat takeout 2022-04-09

We called around 5:30pm for a pick-up order. They estimated 10-15 minutes, but when we got there 10 minutes later, they were still slowly working on the food. There seemed to be a communication issue between the guy at the register and the chef. All in all it was about 20-25 minutes. The flavors were great, the hummus thick and smoky, which I really liked. The meat itself was on the dry side for both our plates. * Chicken plate - 3 stars Good flavors, but the chicken was dry. * Beef plate - 3.5 stars Good flavors, but a little dry. I did enjoy the flaky texture of the beef.

The kebabs were made with chicken breast, but very tender and moist, and the side of hummus was fresh, creamy and delicious. We also tried the sangria which was great- not too sweet and decently strong (not watered down bad wine). For dessert, the lemon cake was tasty but odd that dried cranberries were sprinkled into the whipped cream. I appreciated the variety offered on the menu- not just typical Greek food you find everywhere else that touts "Mediterranean food". The service was super nice and efficient, and I like that it has been family owned and run (sadly an increasingly rare San Francisco characteristic these days)- you can tell the difference in the quality and thought put into the experience.

There was complimentary bread which was insanely good and fluffy and warm plus tahini and an onion tomato sauce I think along with radishes and olives. We are not olive ppl sadly but I tried one and it was pretty okay. The service was great and all the servers were super attentive and accommodating. The Stuffed falafel was so good and huge 1 is enough for 2 people. The mosabaha was very refreshing and so good. The meat combo was good overall and everything was very herbally spiced, I wasn't impressed by the lamb tho but the kebab, hummus, and chicken were great! I haven't had Mousakhan before so not sure how it should taste but to me it was sweet and savory with really well cooked chicken. I honestly felt pretty healthy overall cause I was eating hella veggies and everything tasted so fresh. The kunafa was good we got it crispy and was yummy imo but was a lil oily (I think this is normal tho). Arab food isn't really spicy but it is spiced and very herbal which I felt in the food here, I appreciate that chili sauce is provided for the spice lovers. Overall, would highly recommend. It was about $100ish for everything and they recently increased their prices but tbh the portion sizes are huge and I feel like it is so worth it we had hella leftovers. My guy ordered this and thought it was average. 3/5 LAMB SHISH KEBAB WRAP ~ this was my dish. I ate one half of the wrap and it only held two cubes of lamb meat. The lettuce and tomatoes made the wrap bland. The meat was seasoned, but everything was plain, so it needed more seasoning. Honestly, this was missing flavor! I'll have to add something to it when I eat the rest of this wrap at home. 2.5/5 HALF ROASTED CHICKEN AND RICE ~ Our friend ordered this dish. It needed more sumac. This tasted like plain roasted chicken. Maybe it needs more seasoning while marinating. It wasn't dry, so that's a relief. Rice was ok and it wasn't dry or soggy. 3.5 We've been spoiled and have had better food in San Francisco and the Bay Area. Nothing stood out for any of us. Prices are a bit high for what you get. A plate of zucchini, grape tomatoes, Moroccan mint leaves, and a pair of Bulgarian cheese; complimentary for my first visit here. Persian noodle soup, filled with beans, chickpeas, and lentils; loved the floral notes in every spoonful. Main course, veggie kabob on a bed of basmati rice drenched in saffron and spices, along with some onions and mushrooms, and of course, a large Lavash bread at the bottom to fill the whole plate. The best part is to completely sandwich wrap after I marginalized the contents on the plate. Ahhh! Satisfying to the last bite of herbs and spices. Being married into a family that specializes in Mediterranean cuisine, I admit I'm a bit biased. The flavors here lean more Greek inspired, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but I found them to be a little too subtle for my personal taste. I tend to gravitate toward bolder Mediterranean flavors, so I wasn't extremely impressed by the food itself. That being said, I can absolutely understand why this restaurant is so popular. The dishes are approachable, balanced, and refined in a way that I think appeals to the American palate. The food is consistently good every visit. My favorite dish is the octopus, and I also love the biscuit platter from their selection of sweets. Everything tastes fresh and thoughtfully prepared.
