La joya Mexican Cafe is a hidden gem. The food is good and has authentic Mexican flavors. I love this place for their Chilaquiles Verdes; the green sauce is the perfect taste of mild spiciness, green tomato sourness, and sweetness. I always ask for extra sour cream and extra cotija cheese on top. Although I'm not a fan of onions, the red onions on top are so good. They're served with your choice of eggs, refried beans, and a fresh side salad. You can't skip the 'liquido de fresa (strawberry milkshake)'. The whole staff is very welcoming and friendly; this is a great spot for brunch, providing authenticity and a warm atmosphere.

This place is actually unreal and I would recommend it to everyone. To start, the place was nice and clean, and the server was super nice and was able to answer all questions. The food was truly unbelievable. I've never had refried beans like this before, and I am forever changed by them. The sauces were also so delicious, the habanero definitely had a kick. I will totally be back!

The Chorizo Tasty Migas Tacos! So good!!!

They recently did a colab with a food reviewer and dropped a limited menu item that is available until the end of August called The Tasty Migas Tacos! You have the option of chorizo or veggie. They also have a new habanero hot sauce that goes great with the Tasty Migas Tacos as well. I def recommend trying the limited offering as I have not found anywhere else in the bay that has Migas Tacos. I've only had them in Texas. I'm def going back to get more before the end of August!

Small spot for a fast eat. Don't get me wrong... EVERYTHING in their food is really fresh, authentic and fulfilling. Excelente costumer service. Definitely recommend.

Went here for a friends birthday for breakfast, and it turned out to be the cafe's birthday as well! We had a BLAST and were so happy to have discovered this gem of a place!! First of all, they had a dj outside playing incredible music, so good that multiple members of our party couldn't resist but get up and start salsa dancing! The employees were so kind with incredible service, and were clearly so proud of their food (as they should be) We got the breakfast sandwich and the breakfast burrito, both with avocado. The breakfast sandwich was great, but nothing crazy unique. The burrito was delicious and what we would go back for. Other members of our group got the breakfast plates which looked delicious, and which they loved. Not to mention amazing prices. They also had cupcakes and other snacks out to celebrate their birthday. These included huaraches, which were SO good. Overall, some of the most fun we've had at a restaurant. Will definitely be back:)

We love this local joint & the family that runs it. My client loves his chicken enchilada here with the green sauce & I enjoy the egg chillaquilla. Give it a try & you won't be disappointed. Also, make room for coffee coz they make it good here.

We are back in the Bay Area and in search for something new and came across this spot. We both got breakfast burritos, because are we actually on a trip if we haven't had a breakfast burrito . Anyway, I got sausage and avocado in mines, my husband got chorizo in his. It was fresh, delicious, well seasoned, and filling. It came with a side of chips (which was the perfect textural addition to this meal) and the smallest cup of the most delicious "salsa" I've had in a very long time. If I come back into San Francisco I'll definitely come back here and try something else. The lady behind the counter was nice the place was clean and relatively quiet, with just a little music playing in the background. If you're in the San Francisco area or coming to the area ... give it a try!

A few people were already in there eating, and we know this place is good, as a few others in our group and I have been here multiple times. The Taqueria is typical of any other, with bench-style chairs for folks to sit on, a water station, and workers cooking it up in the kitchen. I wasn't too hungry, so I grabbed a Super Lengua Taco, while my friends grabbed burritos, we ended up grabbing 3 complimentary chips and guac/salsa with our order and the food came out pretty quickly. When I saw my Taco I forgot how much they stuffed it and wow, two of these would've filled me up just like a taco; there was so much Lengua that it kept falling off after every bite. The flavors all came together and I scruffed down the whole thing after about 6+ bites! Definitely a place to come to if you're looking for a full meal, or something to snack on!

On a Saturday night in the Castro, this corner of 16th and Market is already poppin' with area bars so while they'll rush out with your order curbside, my son dashed in for speed. This place is famous for their burritos and especially the "Dorado style," which tastes amazing -- BUT what they don't clearly disclose anywhere is that the Dorado style burrito is cooked in pork lard unless you specifically ask for it "dry" or with vegetable oil. As someone who does not eat pork for religious reasons, finding that out after already eating there was honestly really upsetting. And the frustrating part is that there is NO clear sign or disclosure telling customers this. If I never asked, I would have had no idea. I actually still like this spot and appreciate that they at least offer a dry/vegetable oil option if you ask, but customers should not have to investigate ingredients themselves to avoid pork. Jewish, Muslim, vegetarian, and other customers deserve transparency. A simple sign or note on the menu saying that Dorado style is prepared with pork lard by default would solve this issue completely. Great food, but this absolutely needs to be disclosed better. One of my all time favorite spots in general.
