We came to Souvla on a Monday afternoon for lunch and it was decently busy. I ordered Pork Salad with Greek Fries, and the food came out pretty quickly. The salad is delicious, decent crunch, and adequate sauce. The PORK is seasoned well and not too dry. The fries are seasoned very well as well and had the right amount of crisp. The portion is also appropriate for the price. Ambiance here is nice, a lot of seating in the restaurant and also outside. People here are also very friendly and nice. I will definitely be back to try other dishes on the menu when i'm in the area.

My sister recommended their ice cream, she said it was different from others because it has the Greek twist. It's basically plain frozen Greek yogurt with baklava crumbles and honey syrup. It's good if you like plain Greek yogurt which can be sour for some people. But it balances out with the honey syrup they use. The baklava crumbles give it a good crunch and different type of topping to this frozen dessert. Worth a try if you're in the area.

The place has both indoor and outdoor seating, and there's even counter seating inside, so it feels casual and easy to drop by solo. I went around 3pm and it happened to be happy hour, so I got to enjoy some wine at a great price. FOOD The seasonal trout sandwich was packed with fresh veggies. The half chicken was nicely roasted and paired really well with the Greek yogurt sauce on the side. The yogurt ice cream wasn't sweet and tasted super refreshing. I chose the cherry syrup, which added a nice sweet and tangy touch--perfect after a meal. The olive and salt combo was a bit on the salty side since there were chunks of salt in it. It might not be the best as a dessert, but surprisingly, it worked pretty well as a dip for fries lol. The yogurt ice cream is perfect for a hot day--I'd definitely like to try other flavors next time!

A must try! My go to is the chicken salad & greek fries - a well balanced meal. You'll see the chickens roasting inside - great flavor & not dry at all. Fries are crispy! Ordered at the counter and worker brought out the food not that long after. Indoor & outdoor seating available - take advantage of the outdoor seating when it's a nice day out! Indoor seating looks clean & quite spacious. Located in a good area. Just a bummer they don't have that many locations outside of SF.

Great casual spot in Hayes Valley. There's a lot of nice restaurants in the area, but on busy weekends, you might need a reservation for those places - Souvla saves the day by being quick and casual. I've been here many times and there's usually a short wait/line, but it's never too long, so don't let a crowd discourage you. Food comes out pretty fast and the menu is simple enough so that the ordering line also goes by fast. I typically opt for one of the salad options - the pork shoulder salad bowl is my favorite. These salads are huge and filling. I'm not a salad person but these are great and well-worth the price. I also love their frozen yogurt - perfect on a hot day. All of their menu options are sharing-size in my opinion, so if you're a couple, you could easily split a salad plus frozen yogurt and both be satisfied. Overall, love Souvla and this location! Would recommend if you're in the area and need a quick bite.

I love Souvla! I always get the chicken sandwich with extra granch sauce and the Greek yogurt with honey and baklava pieces! The food is always made fresh to order, fast service, and I never leave disappointed! If you are in the San Francisco area look up Souvla and give it a try! They have sandwiches, salads, fries and at least 3 different protein options as well as vegetarian! I can eat this everyday honestly! The vibes are off the hook here and you have to check it out for yourself! I highly recommend this place to everyone!

Just a short walk from the opera house and symphony venue! Love that is fast service, with a very cozy inside, that doesn't feel like fast food. They had some cute festive decor up too. Don't worry about not having a seat when you order, it clears up quickly. I ordered the side salad, fries, pita, and 2 dipping sauces (harissa-spiked and garlic mint). I do wish the flavors were stronger on the dips, but everything was really so good! My partner ordered the sandwich (I can't remember what meat) and roasted potatoes (they have chicken drippings). He loved both. We also ordered Greek yogurt with baklava crumble. So so good! Sour, but the crumble is the perfect pairing. Serve was friendly and the restaurant is clean. Vegetarian options and pet friendly patio!

Genuine question: how is Souvla's frozen greek yogurt so delicious? I am addicted, and it somehow tastes better every time I have it. I've visited several times, and there's always a good amount of people in line or seated. The service is super fast: with the frozen greek yogurt, they prepare it right in front of you. The interior of the store feels warm and welcoming. Even though Souvla is a casual restaurant, the decor feels fancy and polished. The frozen greek yogurt is the perfect dessert. It's a reasonable price, and every cup is always piled with yogurt and toppings. The frozen greek yogurt is not too sweet and has the perfect refreshing tartness. I'm a huge fan of the sour cherry syrup - it complements the sweet and tart greek yogurt perfectly. The baklava crumbles and honey syrup are my absolute favorite toppings. The rich baklava and sweet honey are an outstanding contrast to the sour greek yogurt. I definitely need to try Souvla's other dishes because the frozen greek yogurt impresses me to no end.

Wanted to get a quick bite before a flight and we decided to try Souvla based purely off the prospects of dessert! The Resturant is dimly lit which made it really nice and intimate. We ordered and got our food almost within 7 minutes, which was so great! I tried the chicken gyro with french fries and it was good! The orange inside was a delightfully surprise. Needed a bit more salt, but that is my preference. My friend tried the veggie salad and enjoyed it as well. For dessert, we got the frozen Greek yogurt with crumbles of baklava and the one with olive oil and salt. Both were delicious! The yogurt was the stand out. Definitely worth a try if you have ever wondered about the salt and oil on ice cream flavors combination.

Ordered some sandwiches and baklava Greek froyo for pick up. Everything was ready by promised time. When we ate our meal 20 mins later, the pita wrap was still intact and not soggy. Lamb was not gamey or dry and the yogurt dressing gave the sandwich a nice creaminess. The fries in greek style wrap were crispy. Ingredients in the sandwich were fresh and pita was soft. The Greek yogurt was smooth and not too tart - sweetness from baklava complimented the dessert. Overall portions were good for price and would come back for the same things. Also pretty cool that they have nutritional information posted on their website for each item!

What I Ordered: Frozen Greek Yogurt with: Cretan Wildflower Honey Baklava Crumbles & Honey Syrup * if there's one thing you must order here, it's their frozen Greek yogurt! * sweetness from toppings perfectly complements the tanginess of the yogurt Freebird All-Natural Chicken Sandwich (Granch Dressing, Fennel, Navel Orange, Pickled Red Onion, Pea Shoots, Mizithra Cheese) Greek Fries (Olive Oil, Lemon Juice, Parsley, Mizithra Cheese) * also recommend trying their food (all ingredients used were super fresh) * currently has locations around San Francisco! 10/10

    Lamb Salad and Lamb Sandwich
    Samantha C.

My best friend loves Souvla, so I finally decided to see what the hype was about. We got the lamb sandwich and salad. The pita on the lamb sandwich is nice and fluffy! However, the lamb was a bit on the dry side. It wasn't terribly dry so I still enjoyed my sandwich. The best friend agreed the lamb was dry but still liked the salad. It's a casual greek spot!

Great food. I love how the gyro is different everywhere you go. The slice of navel orange was such a refreshing addition. The veggies were nice and fresh. My only complaint is that the meat is almost too shredded / mushy leaving too many soft textures going on however, the flavor was still great! Not pictured but a must try is the frozen yogurt

What cooking oil do they use for their meats? I thought it was Olive Oil - but I may be wrong...

That i am not 100% sure on but they are Italians so I would have to say if I were to guess it would be a italian olive oil from Italy and not just a local shelf one. 😉

When will you start offering your frozen yogurts on DoorDash again? I've been checking all week and it's not available and we don't live close enough to come in to pick-up :(

What's a good alternative dressing for the chicken salad? They forgot the yogurt dressing AGAIN on my take-out order.

They use a bit of oil like olive oil (I think).

    Are there any vegan options?

I believe there is a vegetable sandwich or bowl made just like the meat options. Suggest you call.

What is a good time to go, to avoid long lines?

I always order online! It's always done within 5-10 minutes. You can eat your online order there if you wish.

Being married into a family that specializes in Mediterranean cuisine, I admit I'm a bit biased. It wasn't just the food they say, but the remarkable wine list, which turned the place into a see-and-be-seen spot akin to NYC's Elaine's (RIP). If this isn't quite how you imagine anyplace along SF's Clement Street, think again. Years later it's still packed (on a Friday night) and loud. Service was the sole miscue on my visit with 3 others. We were given menus and water but ignored after that, to a point where we reached out to get some wine and attention. As you can see from the 5-star assessment, no harm-no foul; once wine and food flowed all was forgiven. The menu required some explanation. It's not broken down in any discernible way, requiring the server to explain that all dishes ae meant to be shared and that the first several dishes are dips, then small plates, then larger. In truth, all seemed like small plates to me (or small servings) but if your wallet permits, you'll not be disappointed. There wasn't one thing we shared that we didn't 100% consume nor anything I'd not recommend. Since we sampled almost the entire menu I feel comfortable saying that everything is delicious and attractively presented. We left the alcohol order to the one at our table who'd chosen Kitchen Istanbul and she summoned the sommelier and gave him free reign. He asked what we like (hearty reds) and what we wished to spend (about $75/bottle) and we enjoyed 2 completely unique offerings that we'd not have known to choose for ourselves. He was also tasked with pairing two of the dessert wines with two of the chosen desserts and they were as enjoyable as the wines served with dinner. It's fair to say that the sommelier had fun with our table, stopping by before we left to say how much he'd appreciated the opportunity to choose for us and for us placing our trust in him. Like the rest of the City I was following Sam Smith's food journey during his time here. He never made it to Kitchen Istanbul but if he had, I think he'd have nodded in agreement with the 5-star rating.

I understand restaurants can get busy, and being out of a few menu items happens, but the way things were handled was frustrating. We ordered our food, received appetizers, and then nearly 20 minutes later our server casually came over to tell us they were out of the chicken entrée we had ordered. There was no apology, no empathy, and honestly no sense that she understood how inconvenient that was. By that point it was already late, and at almost 10 PM in San Francisco there weren't many other dining options open nearby, which completely ruined our night. What made it worse was that we were still charged despite the poor experience and lack of proper service recovery. I ended up not tipping because the service felt disorganized and lacking basic professionalism and empathy. To be fair, the owner did come out afterward to apologize while I was waiting for my Uber, and I appreciated that gesture. But overall, this was a terrible experience that could have been handled much better operationally and from a customer service standpoint.
