My family and I had the most amazing breakfast at this cozy little spot. Their pancakes are and french toast were good enough to return for more. The smoothie was fantastic and the server was attentive. If you're looking for mouthwatering pancakes, heavenly French toast, refreshing smoothies, and a side of great service, this place is a winner.

As to walk in it's a tradition diner look but it actually reminds me of California vibe I don't know why'd. Salad was very good, the kids burger and platter was huge and very yummy also, my 6 year old loved it. Even though the salad portion is big I was so hungry I actually finished it. The prices are very reasonable especially compared to the current economy. Staff and waitresses was very friendly and helpful. I see why it's a local favorite and I will rerun soon.

"California Crepe"

I've been here a few times in the past, and always liked it...but for some reason, I haven't been back in ages! Well, given that I scheduled a haircut next door at Planet 21, decided to try them again. Surprisingly, given the pandemic, the place was quite busy...and though they attempted to social distance, the restaurant was more than 50% full. Thankfully, all the diners, as well as wait staff, were wearing masks. I ordered one of their Specialty Crepes, the "California Crepe". I remember ordering this more than once, but here we are again! As always, it was good...though a tad bland. I asked for some hot sauce, and that made a huge difference. I wish they used Chicken instead of Turkey (not a Turkey fan). I love how this comes loaded with a ton of mushrooms. Also, a ton of small, cubed potatoes. Can't say that this is the most delicious meal you'll ever have (especially if you crave a ton of flavor?), but this dish is very generous and affordably priced. Anyway, this is a nice, little breakfast, brunch and lunch hangout...and am glad it's open and doing well.

Irish Benny with peasant potatows

Decided to try this spot for brunch and it was kind of disappointing. The reviews varied for this spot but I thought I would check it out. It is located in the Aborteum Shopping Center beside The New South restuarant. I love cornbeef hash so I ordered the Irish Benny with cornbeef hash along with peasant potatoes. Unfortunately, the cornbeef harsh was overcooked (aka crunchy). I removed the cornbeef and just ate the eggs benedict and potatoes. It was disappointing not being able to eat the cornbeef hash. The potatoes were okay. Parking: Plenty of parking is available in the shopping center Outside seating is available ( around 4-6 tables) Service: The staff all wore mask, the restuarant was clean and the seating was setup for distancing. The waitress was friendly and accommodating but the service was slow.

We came at the perfect time on Sunday morning, it got really busy around 10:45/11 am. Service was decent until we were ready to checkout. The person at the front was also taking takeout orders over the phone and serving as hostess to groups that entered so we had to wait a little longer even though there were other employees standing in the front. Decent serving sizes. We will be back! Veggie - I liked how they had a few more options than many of the restaurants in the area for breakfast. I was especially excited for a Benny! These Bennies were a little different than others I have previously seen in that they are served with cream cheese. The Harvest Benedict was yummy and I was able to save the second for leftovers. The potatoes were perfectly cooked in my opinion, but I wish they had some seasoning. The latte wasn't the best, it just tasted like coffee and milk. Meat-eater - My boyfriend loved the corned beef, it was cooked a little crispy which he enjoys. He too had about a half of a Benny leftover.

Spanish omelette with sausage and chorizo, pheasant potatoes, and a side of biscuits with gravy.

I miss Le Peep. My church group would go here after church to eat l. This place has alway been consistently great. I came here because I missed the food, and this place has not missed a step. The food was delicious and plentiful. The omelet was a special order but without missing a step the waitress informed me that it would be done per my order. The omelette came to me as ordered and was mouthwatering good. The biscuits were fluffy and soft. The gravy was thick and rich. The waitress always came by to check on how I was doing and was polite and accommodating. Overall I would recommend this place to anyone wanting good and plentiful food for their money.

BEST BEST BBQ I've ever had!!! We were visiting from MN and look me saying best bbq from MN is not…read morethe full background. I grew up eating Mexican food and have a thing for finding best flavor and quality for food. I knew I wanted to try a bbq place hear as I've heard such great things and let me tell you I was absolutely blown away! Lately things have been so pricey and feel like you get hidden fees or 20% of service on top of tip and a whole bunch of weird extra charges so obviously going out to eat has been more challenging as you pay more but get less. This place was the absolute opposite of that! We came here twice before we had to fly out to Minnesota. First time we tried the tray of meats and boy was that special. First of the brisket was delicious! But our server recommended the turkey and that was the juiciest most flavorful turkey I've ever had in my life! The sides were amazing and something I never had before was a slaw that had acidity with vinegar and it paired so well. I ordered a Twinkie for the first time and let me tell you I won't see a jalapeño the same again. In Mexican food we have them a lot but never this way and now I'm determined to try to make the more. At the end of our meal our server asked if we wanted dessert and guess wha it was ABSOLUTELY COMPLIMENTARY!! WHATTT?!? And not just like a scoop of ice cream different options of COBBLLERRRR!!! We did not see that coming and it was absolutely delicious! The second time we came I tried the fried okra and that was my first time it blew me away! I also had the potatoe that was loaded and wowowowowo so much flavor and deliciousness. Give it was our last time I got the Twinkie again and it did not disappoint! I wish this place success and that they continue to expand and maybe pray they come to MN. The place is clean and they have a lot of seating and food was incredible.

WOW, Wow, wow! This restaurant SCREAMS for a five-star rating, but as this was our first time…read morehere, I am reluctant to immediately give one of my precious five-stars based on only a one time shot. That said, Yard Dog is not a dog at all, but a superb little restaurant with a great menu and mouth-watering foods. Oh boy! Wife and I entered and were surprised at just how small their dining area was. Couple that with a not-so-pleasant noise level, you will have difficulty seating more than four and conversation will be tough, but not impossible. You came to eat. It is a very cozy, busy and fun place. In addition to the super menu there is a chalk board with specials. Check those out first. I spotted catch of the day, which was Red Snapper, a favorite of mine, which came with two sides ($26). When served, it was three fillets, so the whole eatable parts of the fish, topped with a Cajun spice mixture and a horseradish sauce. This is a to-die-for or last meal item. The fish was perfectly cooked and my side of collards were as mammy has done for eons: flavorful with pork and a perfect complement to my catch of the day. And the fried okra was great and I paid the $.50 for ranch dressing, as fried okra SHOULD be so complemented. Wife does not eat sea food, so she was, initially, confronted with the challenge of finding a dish without seafood in it. She did. There were a number of options, like pasta with Andouille sausage ($21) which is listed as with shrimp, but they omitted the shrimp for her. She also spied blackened meatloaf and some other items for the next visit. The place is busy and the wait staff is hustling as fast as the kitchen can get orders out. The kitchen looks so small, but they are a blur of motion cooking and plating. Kudos to the kitchen and servers. Our server was Sophie and she was excellent. There are beverages on a separate menu, mostly wine, beer and hard cider, with some non-alcohol items also available. We both had hard cider at $6 a can. Draft beer was available at $7 a glass. We will definitely return, even give lunch a try. I will most likely answer the siren call for five stars, which is certainly in the cards. See for yourselves.

The scene here is a little dark and moody and this is what I love about this restaurant... Very Dramatic! Now Food ‼ So, if this is your first time and you want to keep it light, I highly recommend the cob salad! This is the best salad because of the homemade croutons! The serving is pretty large and the dressings our house made and every single one of them are great. My favorite would be the Thai dressing, if I had to pick. I've also tried the burger and it is extremely HUGE and flavorful. You may not be able to eat it all in one setting. I've also had the blackened salmon with the pasta and it was perfectly cooked. I get mine at medium rare. TIMING~ The servants come out pretty fast. By the time you've had your first drink the food is already coming out. This is my honest review as I have been coming here for the past decade and I've never had an issue. You will be pleased. This is also the perfect spot for a first date, business meeting, anniversary and also a birthday.. P.S. Another reason why I am drawn to this particular location, is that 131 Main has maintained a clean place to eat. My number one pet peeve is a messy bathroom. I have yet to find any issues with this restaurant. The bathrooms are always clean Everything is fully stocked and servers are Super attentive, so I will continue to come back.

Banana cream pie dessert was great- next level would have been with a banana foster twist to the fresh banana, but the crust was perfect! Ambiance: (A) comfortable but louder than expected. Outside looked amazing for a nice night! Very busy main room which is a good sign for quality but hard for reservations and turn over. Would we go back? Yes Would we order the same thing? It's one…read moreof those comfort foods I don't eat often because it's so rich--but when I see it on a menu, it absolutely catches my attention. That's exactly what drew me to The Southern Pecan in SouthPark. Here in the South, they call it country fried steak, and I'm happy to report this one did not disappoint. I met a colleague there for lunch, and everything about the experience felt easy from the start. The restaurant is located in Phillips Place, a lovely little shopping area that feels a bit polished and upscale--with shops like Orvis, Tory Burch, and even a Restoration Hardware restaurant nearby. They do offer valet parking, which is a nice touch, though honestly parking is easy enough on your own. We had reservations through OpenTable and were seated on the patio, which was absolutely delightful for this time of year in Charlotte. The weather was perfect, the setting was relaxed, and the service started off warm and welcoming right away. Now, the food. The country fried steak was beautifully cooked--crispy on the outside, tender inside, and served with creamy mashed potatoes and gravy that hit all the nostalgic notes from my Texas upbringing. I paired it with a vegetable side (I believe it was broccoli or corn), and it was a classic Southern plate done right. We also enjoyed a couple of cocktails, and to finish, we split a praline bread pudding, which felt like the perfect Southern ending to the meal--sweet, comforting, and indulgent without being overwhelming. The staff was friendly and attentive, and one of the things I continue to appreciate about Charlotte is how easy it is to connect with people. We even chatted with diners at nearby tables, which added to that welcoming, community feel that makes dining out here so enjoyable--especially for someone coming from the Bay Area. Prices felt fair for the quality, the setting, and the portion sizes, and overall the experience left a great impression. Bottom line: If you're craving a solid Southern classic like country fried steak--or just want a relaxed patio lunch in a charming part of SouthPark--The Southern Pecan is definitely worth a visit. And as someone happily eating my way through Charlotte and the Southeast, this stop was another reminder that the journey has been a delicious one.

I've heard rave reviews about this place so Michelle & I went for Sunday Brunch…read more They recommended a reservation so we had one @ 12n. It was already quite busy when we arrived and it's not clear where your parking options are. People are pulling up to the entrance and dropping people off so it gets jammed up and chaotic, of course people are running late so those BIG Yukons and Suburbans are making it a challenge to navigate a small entrance area. You would THINK they would at least have a Valet option of Sat/Sun during Brunch. To park, go BEHIND the restaurant on the street to the left and you'll see some free parking options that are close and walkable. We asked for a table on the patio and were immediately seated. The bar was already buzzing with solo diners enjoying their Mimosas. The patio is NOT that big, a little over crowded and table are very close with not much space in between. There was a LARGE group of 'FUN' ladies right beside us enjoying their MIMOSAS, dropping the 'F' bomb from time to time and making a LOT of noise. What can you do? Nothing but try to make the best of it and just start talking LOUDER like everyone else. The OVERHEAD heaters were way too intense so the Staff was very responsive at our request to turn down the heat. We shared the BBQ Shrimp Starter which was SO good, I highly recommend. I had the Gumbo and Michelle had the beet and goat cheese salad. We both had the Red Fish which comes with smashed potatoes and broccoli. The potatoes were so BLAND, the broccoli had NO seasoning. The Red Fish wasn't that great of a flavor and not very tender, not easy to cut, had to use my knife at times to get a bite. Kinda disappointed, I lived in N Orleans for a couple of years and it was always so good there. The biggest disappointment was the Gumbo. It had all the right ingredients but the ROUX was to strong, dark and heavy. It actually gave me indigestion afterwards. The service was OUTSTANDING. Our Server was Daylean, she was so nice and helpful with the menu and kept our refills coming.

Biscuits and gravy are a southern staple and rarely have I had any that were really good, except here at Vicious Biscuit. Biscuits are their business. The most important elements are the biscuits and the gravy. Additions are many and varied, but if the basic two items are not both excellent, you will have a disappointing experience. The Vicious biscuit is the size of a hamburger bun. It is soft and there are bits of spice in the dough. These biscuits do not fall apart, but stay together and serve to soak up the wonderful sausage gravy that is poured on top of it. You can order just a biscuit with gravy for $8. And if you are timid, start here. Otherwise, there are add-ons like very good fried chicken, shrimp and grits, ham, pulled smoked pork, crab, bacon, fried shrimp. fried eggs and other combos. Super choices, so take time to study the menu which is extensive. Portions are great, very generous. I had their Vicious ($12). It was their Cheddar jalapeño biscuit, crispy fried chicken, maple sausage gravy, cowboy candy, with maple syrup drizzle. I was hesitant as to the maple syrup, but it is just enough to give accent to the gravy, but not super sweet. Wife had Fried Green 'Maters ($9.50) which were four fried green tomatoes, their signature pimento cheese with a pickled okra garnish. She could not eat it all, so I helped finish off the lone tomato and a bit of the cheese. Very good. Vicious Biscuit is more that a meal, it is an experience, even a journey, through this traditional southern staple, biscuits and gravy. Enjoy the trip. We might see you there.
