Fun cafe in the industrial area - with classic rock playing, how can you go wrong?? Breakfast menu was normal southern breakfast. Everyone was very down to earth, fun and friendly! I highly recommend :)

This is definitely a spot that I would visit again. I did not want to go to the "normal" breakfast spots so this place was a pleasant surprise. We order a short stack, two egg breakfast with corned beef hash, and cheese omelette. I'm big on the consistency of grits and theirs was perfect. It was not smooth how some people do and that's is okay. It was good and it did not need any extra salt or anything. That's was a big shocker for me because almost no one does that! The corned beef hash was perfect. It was thick and big. Delicious! The pancakes were a nice size. We were given an decent amount out food for the price. Love this spot and will definitely visit again. And the biscuit is really good!

Lots of tuna in the tuna melt. This sandwich is excellent !

We came here just before they closed on a Saturday (Close 1pm). Closed Sundays and open until 2pm during the week. We were pleased to see we could order breakfast OR lunch. The menu options were NUMEROUS and some of the lunch options were heavier fare and could have easily been dinner (even though they are not open at that time). Expect no frills at this place. I loved all the booths you could sit in. The decor is very 70s with artists from that era lining the walls near the ceiling. I don't think anything has changed in this place since. Lol. You seat yourself. Our table was just outside and across from the kitchen. Don't sit at that table. The oil from the fryer is likely the cause of the table being sticky. My husband got the tuna melt ($6) with fries ($2). The sandwich was on grilled rye bread and was EXCELLENT. Lots of tuna in the sandwich. He liked the fries, I thought they were ok. Very potato-like but not very crispy. I had the Texas Melt ($7) with house made onion rings ($3 for lg). You MUST get their onion rings !!! Yummy ! I seriously sat and ate each one with a smile on my face saying "these are so good" to my husband while eating each ring. My sandwich seemed better in concept on the menu vs. the execution. The roast beef was rubbery and not good quality. It had grilled onions and mushrooms over it with melted cheddar on grilled rye bread. I would not recommend getting this. Our waitress was great; a sweet older Greek lady that kept our drinks refilled on a constant basis. You take your check up to a register in front of the kitchen to pay your bill. You might want to use a calculator from your phone to total things up beforehand since each item price is listed but not totalled. The cashier was very friendly also. I accidentally left my phone on the table and she got my attention as we were leaving and brought it out. This is a nice little no frills place for lunch. We'll definitely be back.

First time here. Convenient to where I am working. Causul nice and friendly. Plenty of seating. Extensive menu very reasonably priced. Went with the seafood option. Catfish and flounder. Hot upon arrival at table. Overall hot and tasty. Will return.

    Dry 1/2 Lb. Cheeseburger

Every time I order from there they mess up the order and I order simple thing like HOMEFRIES or a cheeseburger how in the ..... do you mess up these kinda of things. Very disappointed I try and wait a few weeks b4 I order again and when I do it's still the same way then they have a problem and don't want to remake your food . My homefries looked like a potato pancake my cheeseburger was plan it was supposed to have been M/L/T/O/B but what I got was CB/O/B and do you think they remade my burger hell no they sent Lettuce and tomato in a box and no mayo Still a DRY ass burger and this was suppose to have been my lunch

Baked meatloaf, green beans, kernel corn & a muffin.

Being welcomed & fast service was par none. Pleasantries are made to feel welcomed! The food was good. But... I'd prefer less gravy on the meat. And cautioned about mushrooms (I do not like, but I am not allergic to). Nonetheless... The meat was tender (could use abit more flavor), and the veggies were just right!

    Yellow Chicken and Dumplings??
    Darlene L.

Hubby's office ordered lunch today. The picture is what he got on his plate...YELLOW CHICKEN AND DUMPLINGS??? What?!? No one in the office would even try them...not even there "Mikey". He also had fried squash, which were greasy and mash potatoes and gravy which were just ok. Overall a bad lunch experience for him and his office.

I came in to celebrate my birthday, but the real treat turned out to be the food and the exceptional service from Crystal. The lamb was cooked to perfection: tender, flavorful, and seasoned just right. The salad was fresh, delicious, and surprisingly filling. Every bite felt thoughtfully prepared. And the Eggspectation coffee? Perfection. It sealed all the flavors beautifully and brought the entire meal together. Between the inviting atmosphere, outstanding service, and consistently great food, this place truly checks every box. They have good food and great service so I can only attribute this to the owner making the workers serve food with no Air conditioning for several days and then as fate would have it being inspected by the Health Department. We were there one of those hot as hell nights and ate dinner without the A/C working. It was really hot. To their credit they would not open the doors because they did not want to invite flys in . The restaurant was busy, but there was no wait, and we were seated immediately. Our server, Sada, was attentive and took our order within five minutes. The food arrived within ten minutes and was really good. I say "really good" instead of "great" because I've visited the original locations in New Orleans (Ruby Slipper), and you just can't beat food in NOLA. We ordered the same dishes we had there to make a fair comparison. I had the catfish and grits with a side of one cinnamon swirl pancake (a perfect combination) and iced coffee. My wife had the avocado toast--she said it tasted the same and loved that they cut the toast into four pieces here. My food tasted almost identical. I think the gravy here didn't have tasso and was a bit less seasoned (which isn't a bad thing, since dishes in New Orleans can sometimes be overseasoned). The pancake made me smile, and the iced coffee was good too. I'm happy to know I can get this meal anytime I'm in Charlotte. Ruby Sunshine is definitely at the top of my list for breakfast/brunch.

As for the food, the fried green tomatoes were a bit disappointing, coming out rubbery instead of crisp. Biscuits and gravy are a southern staple and rarely have I had any that were really good, except here at Vicious Biscuit. Biscuits are their business. The most important elements are the biscuits and the gravy. Additions are many and varied, but if the basic two items are not both excellent, you will have a disappointing experience. The Vicious biscuit is the size of a hamburger bun. It is soft and there are bits of spice in the dough. These biscuits do not fall apart, but stay together and serve to soak up the wonderful sausage gravy that is poured on top of it. You can order just a biscuit with gravy for $8. And if you are timid, start here. Otherwise, there are add-ons like very good fried chicken, shrimp and grits, ham, pulled smoked pork, crab, bacon, fried shrimp. fried eggs and other combos. Super choices, so take time to study the menu which is extensive. Portions are great, very generous. I had their Vicious ($12). It was their Cheddar jalapeño biscuit, crispy fried chicken, maple sausage gravy, cowboy candy, with maple syrup drizzle. I was hesitant as to the maple syrup, but it is just enough to give accent to the gravy, but not super sweet. Wife had Fried Green 'Maters ($9.50) which were four fried green tomatoes, their signature pimento cheese with a pickled okra garnish. She could not eat it all, so I helped finish off the lone tomato and a bit of the cheese. Very good. Vicious Biscuit is more that a meal, it is an experience, even a journey, through this traditional southern staple, biscuits and gravy. Enjoy the trip. We might see you there.
