Group reservation at a corner booth. The cushioned seating is not fit for someone of 5ft 3", my feet dangled uncomfortably the entire dinner. Requested no blue cheese on my meal and my meal was brought out with cheese. Took my plate back to kitchen they scrapped off cheese didn't redo grilled onions. Had to request grilled onions. Meals could have been presented and explained better. Food was dropped on the table and server had to be flagged to ask about sides, and sauces. Food was savory. As with the hotel service not the best. Server was attentive, but waiting on too many tables alone. read more

This restaurant was decent but is NOT a good place to go with large parties! Our bill had two separate 20% charges added -- a large party charge of $70, and then an automatic gratuity of $70. All told, for a $290 lunch, we paid $450! That's an additional 56% tacked on to our bill! Totally unacceptable. read more

Amazing food and service to match. We were very impressed with the new remodel. The main dining room is open and fresh with a lot of natural light. Also, the lounge next to the main restaurant is fun with the same amazing food from the Layla kitchen staff. The service in the lounge was really fast and attentive. read more

Went here for brunch and it was FANTASTIC. one of our best meals in Sonoma. Had the breakfast sandwich. Service was great and the patio area was gorgeous. Make reservations in advance. Wish we could have gone back but was booked. read more

The restaurant is in the MacArthur Place Resort in Sonoma. A great place to have a meal and enjoy the lovely contemporary decor and other worldly feel of this resort. We got to sit on the pet-friendly patio with our pooch and enjoy the relaxed feel of surroundings, water fountains and all. We shared a Burger, which had a tasty, juicy patty, served western style with BBQ sauce, bacon, and a nice onion ring garnish, but we didn't care so much for the thick and dense burger bun. The Green Pea Falafel Salad with a Grilled Chicken Breast topper was quite good, served with a fresh thin pita. The food was good and reasonably priced (like 3.5 stars) but the attention to service and hospitality was over the top (5+ stars)...from the very friendly valet out front, to the restaurant manager rushing in front of me to open the patio door for me, to folding your napkin neatly every time you leave your table momentarily. read more

Great brunch spot in Sonoma! The hotel/restaurant is beautiful and the outdoor seating is spread out and comfortable. The food was all amazing, including the short rib hash, the Layla benedict and the olive oil pancakes. Brunch cocktails were also delicious. The servers seemed understaffed as we got our food before our drinks, but overall would definitely come back and even hope to stay at the hotel. read more

Come for the vibe and the beautiful environment, don't stay for the food or service. We waited 30 mins for someone to just take our order, my husband had to go find a server to let them know we were ready. Not a staffing issue, there were a lot of servers and food runners walking around, just didn't come over to check on us. Food is meh. I ordered the short rib hash, my husband the Sonoma breakfast. Really underwhelming, lacking in flavor. I didn't finish my food even if I was hungry. Pastries are good. read more

So fresh and service was incredible. They had healthy options and options if you want to be bad and splurge. Everything was made to order and was hot. My wife loved her pancakes. The potatoes that are served crispy were the best I've every had. We will definitely will be back! read more

Superb food, beautiful atmosphere and great service. I had brunch with my daughter here and the steak was amazing!

I am so excited that I tried this restaurant. My husband is celiac gluten-free, my daughter is vegan and it was so simple to make selections from their menu, made it so nice with the menu indicating their options. In addition, the food was really delicious. We started with the sweet potato fritters -delicious! Then oysters, Which were also delicious, however the price on the check came out higher than the price and the menu but, oh well My husband had the salmon - it came with caponata (kind of like ratatouille) my daughter had the vegan pasta, I liked that better than mine, which was the angel hair pasta in a saffron broth with crab-It was good, crab tasted like it may have been frozen and could have used more broth, but I liked it. Waitress and staff were more than excellent! It was my husband's 60th birthday and they treated him like a king.. The place is beautiful did not feel stuffy and I will definitely go back and I highly recommend lelya's in Sonoma read more

Just had the most amazing meal at Layla and can't wait to go back. Everything was so delicious and unique! We ordered a bunch of appetizers for the table and all agreed you can't go wrong with anything here. Particularly noteworthy for me were the patatas bravas (a fave dish usually, but I've never had them quite like this and it'll be hard to go back to non-square ones now!), the carrots, the crispy greens and sauce, the hummus, and the parker house rolls. I ordered salmon as my main, which was also tasty. Don't miss the yogurt for dessert--it was light and refreshing and the perfect ending to the meal. The service was outstanding--our waitress was very attentive and knowledgeable. And to boot, the remodeled restaurant and hotel are absolutely stunning! Loved everything about the decor, which captures the relaxed yet upscale vibe in a way that makes this place feel really special. read more

We visited Layla in Sonoma, CA for my mom's birthday dinner, and it was simply delish! First of all, the property is a previously working farm now gorgeous boutique hotel and restaurant. The ambience was lovely, especially with live music, and the service was just excellent (did I mention complimentary valet?). But I'm posting about this place because of the FOOD! It's often difficult to find fine dining vegetarian/vegan restaurants because they often offer meat heavy menus, but Layla does veg-friendly well! We had the dip trio (roasted red bell pepper hummus, tzatziki, and baba ganoush) with homemade pita, vegetable bolognese with vegan ricotta cheese (made from almonds, quite good!), green salad, roasted beets, melt in your mouth goat cheese squares (complimentary!) and for dessert we had the Greek donuts with lemon curd, honey and pistachios. It was super flavorful, fresh and just heavenly! I would definitely recommend a visit! read more

Good food and a calm environment, it is a great place to dine in Sonoma. We walked in without a reservation on a busy evening and were able to get seated anyway. Can't stress this stronger - Exceptional customer service!! I am definitely a fan. However, 4 stars because of the food - good size portions but lake of taste. read more

Great place. Both the food and service were top notch. We would definitely return. Nice ambiance as well

You know how hotel restaurants can sometimes be an easy miss? The convenience is nice but the food is lackluster and not memorable? Y'all: Layla holds its own among the best--both in and out of hotels. Since the restaurant is in Sonoma, it almost goes without saying that the wine-by-the-glass offerings are absolutely stellar; however, it's the food where this restaurant really shines. We went here a couple times during our 5-day stay at MacArthur, but the meal that stood out most was brunch on our day of arrival. I had the Chicken and Waffles. Being from New Orleans, I wasn't expecting much: just something to satiate my post-flight hunger...but man, I was so wrong. The chicken and waffles were the BEST I have ever had: The chicken was so crispy and tender, and the waffle and syrup complimented in PERFECTLY. I'm drooling just thinking about it. Another day, I decided to try the Shakshuka for breakfast. All I can say was that it was absolutely perfect, and substantial enough to kickoff a day of wine tastings. For dinner or light bites, I recommend the beet hummus; parmesan truffle fries; lobster pasta; salmon, and the doughnut balls...Delicious. Regardless of what you get for either breakfast, brunch, lunch, or dinner here, you won't be disappointed. read more

Outstanding location with healthy and tasty brunch. Higher commended for breakfast or a Sunday brunch

Had a wonderful brunch here. Great service, delicious food and the back patio is amazing

Absolutely delicious in every way. Beautiful peaceful ambiance. Food was Devine. Could not stop making ummmm yyuuummm uummm noises about my avocado toast. I know. Boring toast was crazy delicious. Paired with the spicy watermelon margarita. Perfect tasty treat for a perfect NorCal Indian summer. Our adorable waitress, Ryan, was probably the most polite and wonderfully professional waitress I've experienced... ok, this month, I frequent many restaurants and have many favorites and many many I despise! If you play your cards right, you can sneak out to the pool for a respite sesh after yummy lunch and enjoy a cocktail or two delivered by the sugariest young Cruz. Filled with smiles and joy and everything post summer. Surprise joy in Sonoma! read more

It's the third time I've eaten here and I feel it will be the last. Each time the food kept lacking more than the time before. The setting is wonderful and the presentation of the dishes are well thought out but this time around, my dish had absolutely no flavor. I haven't ever had that experience before and no, I didn't have Covid, either. It looks ricing wasn't bad and most people would have said"take it back and bring me something goo," but I work in the industry and don't want to put anyone through that. So, not a fan. read more

Best BLT I've ever had. Perfectly done with crisp, thick Applewood bacon, and tasty organic tomato on toasted sourdough. It was so good, I ate the whole thing! The service, ambience and fabulous sandwich deserved 5 stars. I took off a star because I hate mandatory valet parking where you easily park it yourself, but then they make you give them your key. To get your car, which is ten feet from the door, they touch your steering wheel, change your car setting, and expect a tip. But I can't wait to go back for that BLT. read more

Incredible. Delicious food AND great atmosphere. This place is bougie so prices are high. That said, if you're in a position to splurge, this is a great place to do it. The restaurant is attached to a beautiful hotel so if you really want to indulge you can stay onsite the whole time. Has a beautiful indoor space with cozy tables and a private area with a fireplace. Outdoor patio is just as gorgeous. (+covered & heated!) I got the oat milk latte and falafel burger -- 10/10 would come again. Location is 4 minutes from downtown Sonoma. read more

Layla - Falafel burger, side of fries, and an oat milk latte - Mediterranean Near Me - Sonoma, California

Sad. Such a beautiful setting but food is terrible. No wonder it was empty on a Saturday. We drove to Sonoma to meet friends that we had not seen in over a year. It was meant to be a special day and meal. I recently flew both Qatar Airlines and British Airways and the plane food was far superior. We ordered a Cobb salad. A pasta and shrimp empanadas. It was inedible. We started with two black coffees and two flat whites with oat milk. We were the first guests and our coffees arrived cold and the flat whites were simply espresso with oat milk poured in. There are so many options in Sonoma and this is not one of them. I hate writing such a bad review because people need jobs but unless this restaurant hires a new chef, I truly don't see how it survives. read more

We went for dinner and the food was excellent and so was the service! We had lamb meatballs, Caesar salad and crudite for appetizers, all delicious. What a wonderful surprise! A restaurant in a hotel that has fabulous food, service and ambiance. My husband and I celebrated an anniversary here this weekend. I had the pleasure of having dinner on the patio at Layla and was so pleased by all the precautions that were taken to ensure the safety of guests and staff members. Staff were friendly and were all wearing masks at all times and guests were as well when they got up from their tables. I had heard incredible things about Layla, but between the hit and miss service and food that was totally underwhelming, I can't say I understand the reason for all the praise. I had eggs Benedict and my husband had the short ribs. Both dishes lacked in flavor and were only saved by the actually really delicious house made hot sauce which we both added to every bite of our meal. The small pile of cubed hash browns that accompanied my eggs were hard and tasteless and the potatoes in my husband's dish were undercooked and under salted. The setting is gorgeous so hopefully once the service improves (we were left alone for such long stretches it made it hard to order another drink or ask for more water) and the flavor of the dishes develops, Layla can be as good as the hype. read more

First, the ambiance was like going back to another time. I would be perfectly happy just hanging with friends at McArthur's bar/ lounge all evening. I have never seen such cool looking furniture so I had to sit on every piece... retro yet with a totally custom design. My Manhatten was fantastic too btw. I liked the service. I know they just opened so I was keeping that in mind when we were seated expecting some hiccups but to my surprise there were none. The restaurant manager was very into his work and not only treated us like kings but his staff as well. It was like they were there but not there...my type of service. I not much for clingy service if you know what I mean. Ok, breakfast...there is so much to choose from and some things that are easy to just skip over but don't. First, the fresh fruit and Straus yogurt with granola is the simplest thing on the menu but simply heavenly. I loved it so much, I went to the farmers market and bought 3 pints of it to try to replicate! We also split the English Muffin Sandwich just to try to pace myself. It may not seem like it makes sense as a breakfast item but the fried chicken sandwich was my favorite because I like a kick for breakfast. The jalapeno coleslaw paired up with the smokey cheddar and pickles really made me want to just eat this thing every day. A couple of weeks later, I went for my birthday with some friends and family. We pretty much tried everything on the menu. We had a couple of shared plates first. For me, if I could just have that Yellow Tail Crudo (aka hamachi) with the crispy tempura daily life would be perfect. The texture of the tempura lifted this dish to the next level. Another reviewer said "light and airy", a perfect description. The halibut was insane! Again, I guess it was the texture of the crispy chickpeas and the pickled peppers that kept me going back to this dish since we all were sharing them. Trust me, it will be more than the typical halibut entrees that you have ordered. I think they should change the name so diners will choose this dish more. Get the yogurt ice cream...there was only one bite left and I didn't even know it was made from yogurt. I'm going back hopefully soon to hit the lunch menu. read more

Stayed at the MacArthur and went for what was supposed to be a quick meal. Got there at 8:20pm and left by 10:15. The hotel and the people are awesome. The chef needs an intervention, big ooooof. We got sat, hung out for 15 minutes before being greeted and another 25 before the first appetizer came out. Shrimp came out not deveined, the risotto was inedible, and shout out to Christy for holding it down. I'm pretty sure the kitchen was so backed up 70% of the tables had their entire meals comped. Unfortunately we're not pushy people and let it go. Came here after getting engaged and were sincerely disappointed. The manager in the blue suit coat seemed glued on one table the entire night (got free meals and then some) while the other tables were treated with lackadaisical service. Again, you go Christy. Just incredibly visible the disparity between who mattered to the staff and who did not. This is my second yelp review. What do I have to gain from being dishonest here read more

Layla is one of the prettiest restaurants to dine at in Sonoma. Because of the ambience I am giving it four stars but the food in my opinion would only be a three unfortunately. We started with some wine because the featured cocktails frankly did not sound that exciting. The wine by the glass selection was excellent however. After the complimentary amuse Bouche we started with the Spanish octopus which was served cassoulet style and was absolutely delicious. Next up wad the kale Caesar which was absolutely swimming in dressing & salty. The Beef Carpaccio was good, Nothing exciting tho and was more like a salad as it was absolutely bulky with arugula on top. For our main we had the filet mignon with the roasted mushrooms and béarnaise sauce. It was cooked perfectly but it was a very small portion. We also ordered the Parmesan whipped potatoes which were the worst Mashed potatoes I have ever had in any restaurant. They were served in a small iron skillet and we're so dry they literally flaked off of the fork. There was nothing creamy or mashed about them at all, too bad! The desserts unfortunately did not tempt us either so we ended with a lovely and absolutely delicious brandy Alexander cocktail. There is a beautiful expansive bar inside next to the main dining room and a gorgeous terraced outdoor patio complete with twinkly lights and a relaxing water feature. Service was very good and I can't express enough what a beautiful spot this hotel and restaurant are located in. read more

I love this place, it's beautiful inside and out. The lunch menu is great, the dinner menu was small and expensive for what you get. The bar and drinks are beautiful but their Bloody Mary mix is not that good, I think they need a new mix. We ordered 5 of them for our group and couldn't finish them. I love their spa and the service was first class! read more

When I go to the Sonoma/Napa region, I'm going primarily for great food. Sure, I love the wine, but it's the food that I seek and fortunately there is a lot of great food there. Given that, it was honestly a disappointment that Layla was not better. It's situated in the MacArthur Place hotel which I highly recommend, but unfortunately Layla is not at the same level as the accommodations. In addition there are many better restaurant options in Sonoma. Bottom line...the food is good, but it's not great. Keep your expectations in check. read more

Ambience was nice, shortrib, hash, and egg dish was not worth it even if I paid $5. It had 8 of the tiniest pieces of shortrib, smaller than a half inch. Hash was more like cut up potatoes. No flavor. They should definitely take this of thier menu. read more

It's our wedding anniversary and we had little mixup with our lunch plan and then we found "Layla". Whatta experience...everything from Valet parking to Billing was so courteous and so welcoming. We had an wholesome food; amazing cocktail, great customer service, great ambience (we were seated outdoor) and a memorable celebration lunch. We had walked in without reservation, but we were made to feel extremely nice and that's what makes the whole experience positive. We missed asking for the names from everyone from beginning to finish were just too good. You guys have a great crew & Chef!! Thank again read more

Dined at Layla for the first time this weekend up in Sonoma. I was there with my girlfriend and her family after wine tasting at Kamen Vineyards. The new remodel is just fabulous and the dining area is so light and airy. We dined inside, but the space made you feel like you were sitting outside in the Garden. We ordered the Spicy Chicken Sandwich, along with Avocado Toast and a salad with Truffle and Parmesan French Fries. The food was delicious and the staff were fantastic! Hope to come back again sometime and stay when the resort isn't fully booked! Glad to see that business is booming! read more

Beautiful setting on a perfect afternoon! Had high hopes because the menu looked well thought out and sounded delicious! The prices are high and I assumed the food was going to be excellent to match that. So disappointed the food was extremely unseasoned and bland. Had high hopes for the vegan option for my husband (totally unseasoned and the eggplant was basically uncooked. The portion was actually quite small for $27 for a small vegetable tower..It did look lovely however! ) as well as the delicious sounding veggie sides. The carrots we're delicious! Cauliflower was seasoned ok but undercooked so not enticing at all to try and cut through a hard head of cauliflower at the table! the parm whipped potatoes were totally bland. Roasted chicken was just OK but it was sad that the accompanying potatoes were hard and unseasoned. My son had the mushroom pasta and he said had absolutely no flavor, I took a bite skeptical and totally agreed even with extra Parmesan!. The gnocchi was also completely flavorless and I mean completely! I took my food pretty seriously and I was pretty shocked at the lack of seasoning for the caliber and prices. The flatbread was good as was the gems salad, and the hummus/veggie plate. It was still a lovely evening for our friends birthday and I would not normally take the time to complain except for the fact the prices are just so out of reach with the quality of food. It was such a lovely place maybe we would go back for a drink but not a big meal to spend $400 for average food. Sorry! read more
