Surprised it is so mediocre. Pork chop very dry, lamb lollipops way overcooked and service was very very very slow. Beautiful place and grounds would come back for hotel just skip the food. read more

This is a very upscale place at a reasonable price. It appears to be the the main restaurant of the Macarthur Place Hotel. I eat a lot of Mediterranean, so was excited to find this. The Sunday lunch menu is pretty simple, but it covers most of the bases. Our group of 4 ordered: the falafel burger - excellent the hamburger - excellent the sausage on English muffin - good eggs benedict - very good Everything was good, but just a little bit bland. I would like to see more appetizers on the menu, and more actual Mediterranean dishes. I can't find the dinner menu on the website. The service was good but we had to ask for water and the bill. read more

Ate here because we were staying at the hotel. Had the: Breakfast: - Olive Oil Pancakes - amazing! Got this twice while we were here because they were that delicious! - Fresh Fruit & Yogurt - their granola was good and if you're like me and don't like huge hunks of granola, this is for you. the fruit is fresh and was a good parfait overall. - Breakfast plate - solid eggs and meat breakfast plate. My hubby got this the first day when I got the pancakes and ended up eating my pancakes. Lunch: - The 1869 burger - so good, a basic burger but the flavor was great and the cheddar worked with the meat. - Fried Chicken Sandwich - this was alright. The olive tapenade threw me off and isn't necessarily something I like with my fried chicken so I do not recommend if you like a standard fried chicken. - Garlic Fries - always a win! read more

I had a date night Dinner at Layla, it was excellent. The service was great. The hostess Daniela was very welcoming, and the servers were very kind. The wine selection was great. Layla just had a switch in the menu, and it was delicious; I ordered the chicory salad, the goat cheese, and the roasted beets within the salad made such a savory flavor, and the braised short ribs with creamy polenta made the flavors impeccable. I highly would recommend this restaurant for dinner. I look forward to coming again. read more

Went for breakfast and it was wonderful! Great food, ambiance and service. I had the breakfast burrito and they cooked it just the way I like it (which was a little different than how it was listed). I'll definitely be back... need to try the Olive Oil pancakes, they looked delicious. read more

A wonderful ambiance with great drinks. Stopped here for drinks with family and our bartender, Charlene, made the best drinks and provided amazing service. I will absolutely be coming here again and have already recommended this stop to a few friends. read more

This place has a great vibe and super nice inside. Overall it was decent. The food for me was just okay. I would rate it 3.5 stars. The staff is great. Super nice and inviting. Very nice place. Unsure I would go again. read more

We took a short trip to Sonoma for my wife's birthday and Layla was the nearest well-rated restaurant. It was categorized as Mediterranean, American, & Seafood and had good pics and good reviews. So we just bit the bullet and went there for lunch. While the place is amazing and luxurious, the food was pretty sub-par. We ordered the Carbonara Pasta, Falafel, & Salmon, with some Greek Fries. All of them were just meh. The fries were over-fried and too crispy. The fish was undercooked. And the pasta was bland - except for the bacon that it came with. For the dessert, we had the cocunut+peach+sorbet icecream and that was good. read more

Beautiful, relaxing setting. Food was very good but brunch menu was limited. Excellent service. Dog friendly patio. Would totally go back!

Had the best birthday lunch with with an old friend. The restaurant offers complimentary valet parking and the food was delicious! Restaurant has been updated along with the hotel - modern and chic! read more

Made a reservation at Layla for an anniversary, and overall had a good experience. Service and atmosphere are wonderful, as the hosts and waiters are really attentive but not overbearingly so. We were seated outdoors, but for the situation, it was lovely. Loved walking through the lobby though, the decorations are really well thought out and cute. We ordered the following: - Patatas bravas - Grilled little gem salad - Pappardelle cream pasta w/ wild mushroom - Porchetta - Basque cheesecake - Cocktails Food was good--I would say the best thing we got during the night was the patatas bravas (must order!) and pappardelle dish. I would have liked to have the little gem have more of a grilled flavor--perhaps the heat wasn't high enough for the char to come through. The hummus was good though. For the porchetta, flavors were there but the texture was a bit off. Skin didn't have enough bite and was hard to get through, especially for something that is supposed to be crispy. Most of the porchetta was fat, and while delicious, did get difficult to finish at the end. As other reviews have stated, there weren't a lot of Mediterranean flavors and menu items for this to be explicitly tagged as a Mediterranean restaurant. I'd label Layla as more of a New American establishment tbh. Would have been cool to see more influences take front seat rather than the back. The dessert was wonderful. The cheesecake was super tasty, and it came with seasonal fruits that were extremely sweet. Overall, I had a good anniversary meal and was very happy with how we were treated here. Definitely look through the reviews for menu recommendations though :) read more

If you have not been to Layla recently, it is a much different place than it was last year. The menu offers very well prepared food and top notch ingredients; an excellent reasonably priced wine list, great service and a very attentive host. My wife and I considered it one of the best dining experiences we have had in the Valley, maybe in the County. Bill D. read more

Beautiful lunch to celebrate my parents 60th birthdays. They went above and beyond service wise to bring out complimentary desserts, reheat food when I had to tend to my son, and always were checking in to make sure we had a good experience. The food was excellent and the vibe very airy and nice. read more

Wonderful experience celebrating my daughter's birthday. They seated us at a table next to the fireplace. It was very private and perfect for a party of seven. The food and service were excellent. They made our evening special! read more

Laylas has a Great Atmosphere super Pretty, Polished Service, Well Crafted Beautiful Food and presentation Delicious!!! Laylas has super Kind Caring Servers. Ambiance was great Lighting was perfect, not great for kids kids would not appreciate the Creativity of the food. Dessert was delicious they gave me 3 scoops of Ice cream and a birthday dessert for my mom and were super sweet. read more

The hostess for the restaurant was very rude and unhelpful. I was a walk in which apparently is not allowed due to covid procedures. That's fine, but she was not helpful or warm. In my opinion, good customer service would have quickly offered something like so, "But how long are you in town for? Our next reservations is.... I hope we can get you on the list soon!" I had to pry to get information out of her. This place looks lovely. The interiors are exquisite and I'm sure the food is delicious. This interaction made me feel like the staff is cold though. Disappointed with my first interaction because I'd been wanting to check this place out for a while. read more

Layla's food was delicious. The ambiance is great - open, well lit, and modern. The only issue my group had was that they charged us for a coffee that we didn't order and the two bloody mary's that we got were far too heavy on horseradish, they were almost undrinkable. Unfortunately, we weren't reimbursed for any of the above. But, our pancakes were delicious, as were the omelettes and benedicts ordered by other members of my group read more

I am so bummed to say that this place is not great. Harvest Moon (closing soon) is about 100x better. We are locals and took my 91 yo mother in law out to dinner. There was ONE other table in the ENTIRE dining room and the hostess tried to seat us right next to the wait station! Nope. The food is average, expensive and pretentious. They offered a Smore's style dessert that had some sort of strawberries that altered into a pink cloud in dry ice - hey, it's fresh strawberry season! Why not just plain old delicious fresh real strawberries? So disappointing. read more

Beautiful restaurant, both on the inside and outside. Their bar is also lovely. The food is decent, but overpriced for such small portions usually with just a small piece of fish or chicken with some small, shredded slices of vegetables sprinkled on top (no whole vegetables). Definitely not worth the prices they charge. Maybe it's due to the rise in food and logistics prices... Their staff, however, is friendly and professional and focused on their customers' dining experience. read more

I was initially excited to visit MacArthur Place's restaurant. Saddles was delicious, well themed, and had great atmosphere. While Layla does have great atmosphere and service atypical of MacArthur Place, the food is was lacking, pedestrian, and reminiscent of large hotel chain food. I was disappointed that the menu didn't feature more Mediterranean dishes or spices. If I had not seen on Yelp that Layla is supposed to be Mediterranean, I would not have known. The food was not terrible but I definitely expected more having experienced Saddles previously. Our table shared the beets, pattatas bravas, tabouleh, and little gems. I had the chicken sandwich which was more breading than chicken and needed acid to brighten the dish; overall the flavor was flat and one note. We also had a Cobb salad that was okay but there was nothing "Mediterranean" about it. The waygu burger was thoroughly enjoyed, as was the tomato soup. The cinnamon ice cream, whose flavor was very faint, was mostly ice as if it had almost thawed completely and then been refrozen. Now, the cardamom chocolate cake was amazing, again very faint spice but chocolate flavor, cake texture, and gooeyness were on point. The staff and service were fantastic, accommodating, and very helpful. If I'm in the area again, I might think about trying the dinner menu and that is because the service received. Thank you! Just a quick point here for restaurant owners, please do away with chairs that have arms. The chairs on the patio were so narrow that my amazing, curvaceous body didn't fit! Restauranteurs, you want buts in the seats and money in the till right? So why not ensure the dining room is as inclusive and comfortable as possible? Just a thought! read more

Disappointing. Well intentioned. But nothing as good as they think it is. Including the indifferent, care free waiter. Sorry we bothered you. read more

This is a lovely spot to have an outdoor dining experience. The staff is kind and caring. The food, however, is inconsistent -- and it has been for a long time. One meal will be good, the next inedible. The kitchen really needs to get an overhaul. And it's expensive........way too expensive for what they are serving. read more

So happy we stumbled upon this place for lunch. The place had a club Monaco type vibe, wicker chairs and bright blue table tops, perfect for soaking up the last of summer. The outdoor patio was spacious, comfortable and the wait staff was super friendly. We ended up trying a couple of things for a light lunch. The gazpacho with strawberry and basil was nice refreshing dish for a warm sunny afternoon. The Patatas Bravas was amazing, definitely a must try. We also tried the smoked salmon flatbread; the crust was very light and crispy and paired perfectly with the crème fraiche. The table next to us got a couple of lobster rolls which looked amazing but definitely not if you're looking for something light. Overall great atmosphere and relatively reasonably priced for some good food. read more

I love eating at the bar at Layla. You can order the full dinner menu, or special items from their bar only menu They have an extensive wine list, but I really enjoy the handcrafted cocktails. A few faves from the food list include the roasted cauliflower, the hot dog (yes, I said hot dog) burger and steak frites. If you're trying to be a little bit good, the dip trio with crudités at least makes you feel like you're getting in those veggies! If the Forager is on the cocktail menu, I've that one a whirl. The bar area is super cozy and great if you're solo or with a group. I can't wait for them to re-open. read more

It was such an amazing experience, the food , the ambience, and the service was 10/10. Perfect for a date night.

Extremely slow service and the food is mediocre. It is a nice looking place, seems clean .

I'm going to assume they are like every other industry and it's difficult to find staff. Came here on a Wednesday afternoon. Saw open table had reservations open all day. Didn't book one cuz I didn't want to put my cc down. Showed up and said they were booked out for the afternoon. There wasn't a single person eating in the dining room. GTFO. Made a res at the girl and the fig in the parking lot. Wasn't going to argue with that load of bullshit. My wife will have to buy me a 2022 992 GT3 if she ever wants to eat here again. In other words I won't be back. read more

Loved the oysters and caviar! Layla is a lovely restaurant in the evening with beautiful lighting. My favorite dish is the chicken liver. Great wine selections! We will be back soon! read more

Beautiful aesthetic, loved eating outdoor on the patio. Food was fresh and delicious. Good drink selection.

Decidedly mediocre. Staff weren't ready, drinks came late. Inexperienced wait staff. The food was rather bland and nothing to write home about. The dining area was noisy and I could barely hear the waitress. Pricey for the lack of quality all round. read more

We had a farewell lunch for our friend at Layla. I am giving them a 5 for their customer service - simply excellent. In arranging our party of 14, I received prompt call backs on questions, followed up by a manager to make sure I had what i needed. The day of the lunch, they had us in a lovely space, but there was another large party set up right next to us. The manager pro-actively (without my prompting) offered another more private space noting that I had requested a quiet area in my group reservation. Servers were on it - everything was tasty, served at the right pace. Five star service. read more

Incredible food and wonderful service. Every time I eat there, I'm blown away by the quality of the ingredients. It turns out, they grow them. The outdoor are is magical, with lights, heaters and a big wooden table. You can go out front after and cuddle up at a big fire table as well. My favorite restaurant I've found near the square (and I'm quite the gourmand). read more

I wanted to like this place. We were guests at the hotel and the place is gorgeous so why not. Unfortunately the food does not live up to the high prices. Service wasn't great either. I don't blame the waiter. I blame management. Taste the food and train your wait staff. The broth on the octopus starter was nice and the most enjoyable part of the meal. C- read more

What an upgrade! I've been waiting forever for something nice and swanky to open up in Sonoma and it's arrived! I love my hometown but, it's so frustrating that there aren't more high end spots in town to grab a nice martini while bellied up to the bar so, thank you Layla. I've been a few different times now and it's clear the second you walk through the door that they spent some serious money on the renovation of MacArthur Place. The breakfast food is pretty damn good but, I prefer the bar in the evening. It's a lively scene and it's fun to interact with people visiting our lovely little town :) Check this place out if you're a local looking for a great new spot or if you're visiting...it's a legit hang. read more
