I moved to TX over 4 years ago, and this is BAR NONE the worst experience I've had at a restaurant yet. The staff was all very cordial and green sauce was good, but it stopped there. The chips were greasy. I ordered fish tacos. The only taste I got from one bite was over cooked, dry fish. No flavor but fishy flavor. I asked the server to take them back and bring me some flautas . The chicken was CLEARLY freezer burnt in the flautas. Their idea of a flauta, also, is unseasoned chicken wrapped in a corn tortilla and fried. Nothing more. Then the sour cream they give you to dip it in was DISGUSTING. Sour cream should not be as thick as butter, nor should it stick to the bowl when turned upside down. Not a single drop on the table, and I held it there for over a minute. This food was just terrible. How is this place still in business?!? read more

Las Mananitas is great if you don't want to have to wait long to get your food. They have really good red and green salsa for chips. But I think their best dishes are the tamales and cheese enchiladas. Their tamales are the best ever! Very flavorful and meaty... not all masa with remnants of meat like other places. And the food comes out in about 10 minutes after placing an order so if you have hungry kids this is the place to come! read more

Chips were ok. Salsa was steaming hot! But bland and tomatoey. Fajitas were ok, charro beans were delicious! Rice was ok. Torts were nice and homemade yummy. The biggest gripe... our waiter, he treated us as a afterthought and made lame jokes. Offering my friend who happened to be a female that she needs another margarita cause I'll get lucky tonight... haha! Wow.... if only the margarita was even slightly alcoholic! Went here for lunch at around 2pm. Place was empty. I guess 2pm was way past lunch time. Wait staff took my order right away and brought me some red salsa and chips. Our first time-here's my review: The food was okay but they charge $1.50 for chips and salsa and if ask for a spicy salsa in addition to the two ramekins they give you it's and additional $1.50 charge. I know because we asked the busboy who told us about the $1.50 charge. Just be aware. I've never been to a sit down Mexican restaurant where they charge for chips and salsa. They staff was very nice. No complaints here. First I must say I judge a Mexican food restaurant on its rice and beans. If the rice and beans taste authentic, I'll likely return. I will definitely return. I was there 05/22/15. The service was fast, the salsa and chips were fine. My tacos al carbon were really good. The rice was as authentic as I know....I know, I'm Hispanic. The frijoles a la charra were great, actually. BTW, flautas are deep fried with already cooked meat. Of course the oil is going to cook the meat further. That may be why someone posted that the meat is freezer burned. So, if you read all these fluffy reviews and can't device, go try it for yourself. Everyone has different taste and expectations. I love Mexican food. We eat out all the time. We decided to try this place for lunch since we were on the other side of 10 doing some shopping. Is it weird that the salsa for their chips is served hot? I've never had that before. It had more of a marinara feel to it than a salsa feel. We went with the Chimichangas and Tacos. The Taco was good, but I'll be honest, I've gotten better chimichangas out of the freezer at a gas station. The steak was so dry and obviously precooked and reheated. And there was nothing else in the chimichanga. It was a glorified taquito. The queso on top tasted like knock of American singles. There were some positives, like the chips and the green sauce that came with them, but the atmosphere and the food just didn't seem to harmonize so I don't think I'll be back. Did I mention it smells like a Japanese steakhouse in here.....weird. read more

It was 5 de Mayo so we expected it to be packed but since we arrived at 5pm before the crowd we were able to place our orders right away. We got the red and green salsas which were ok. Saw good reviews posted so as Jarritos was packed thought we'd try this place for a change after church on Saturday night. Nicer inside that outside, located next to a dry cleaners in an old strip mall. Parking was tight but we had a decent place under a street light. Service is exceptional- very quick and attentive answering questions and fast. I had the Katy combo which included beef fajita, two enchiladas and a taco at a very reasonable price. I think my wife had the chimichanga- we both felt underwhelmed on the quality and flavor. They must make ahead of the crowd quite a while it didn't seem fresh and ingredients not so much either. Not terrible but just not quality that I'm accustomed to. The fajitas were "meh" taco was good and enchiladas poor (droopy and lacked flavor) - passable for redneck tex mex but mama Ninfa wouldn't eat here.. lists of kids in here so good family place,. Wow what a find. The staff is incredible, always attentive and extremely polite. The salsa and chips are what you would find with any other local Mexican place, nothing really makes them stand out.
