However, everything else that makes a visit to a Mexican restaurant enjoyable (Margaritas, Chips, Red Salsa, Refried Beans, and Rice) were just average or below average. Not feeling well today so I decided to pick up some caldo de pollo. (Chicken soup) I get it, it's soup and you can add whatever but I've never had caldo with broccoli and cauliflower. I grew up eating this and cooking it. I've orders this at many restaurants and this is a first but they're using frozen bagged carrots broccoli and cauliflower. I'm sorry But I expect fresh veggies when I pay this much for soup. And the caldo is sooo salty. Way too much. Not loving this. read more

Wow, first time in and loved this place, friendly service, great options, Margs and live music Saturday nights from what I could tell. This is a great find off the I-10 congested restaurant path. Food doesn't seem to be as watered down in grease like other spots in town, that's good, we will definitely be back. Fast and friendly service. Ordered the taco lunch special. Came with two tacos wrapped in tortillas and rice & beans. I selected the ground beef for my tacos and although they were good they were really greasy. So greasy that they soaked through the tortillas and made them soggy. The waiter was nice and brought me fresh tortillas but they became soggy as well. I'll return again and try something else on the menu before I make my final decision on the place. I was very disappointed that the food did not have any salt or seasoning, the potatoes were hard and you could actually see through the tortillas. Came here on a lunch break with coworkers. Service was fast. I ordered the chicken enchiladas which came with rice, charro beans, and a salad. Portions were large and everything was great. Everyone said they enjoyed the food and we all left with empty plates and full stomachs. Total for lunch was around $8 not including tip. Will definitely be back! read more

The reviews brought me here thinking that this restaurant was going to be amazing. We ordered take out to bring back to my family; I was in the mood for some good carne asada. I thought it was odd that the front desk woman that we placed our order with asked if my dad wanted fajita beef in his burrito (she meant steak but why are all these restaurants in Texas referring to it as fajita beef? Fajitas ARE NOT even traditional mexican cuisine) I was also asked how I wanted my carne asada cooked; this was alarming because there is only one way to make it! Also the carne asada was served with flour tortillas so I had to ask for corn because flour and carne asada really don't taste well together. Upon arriving home with my food, I realized I was right to be alarmed about the steak; It definitely wasn't cooked correctly, it was too tender for carne asada and there was absolutely no lemon in it. I had to run to the fridge and cut open a lemon. So the meat was very average, the pico was average, the guacamole was actually decent, just needed more cilantro, lemon, and some cerranos. The rice and beans were also very run of the mill, nothing here was very authentic in my opinion. The food is good, not great, or amazing. The dining room of this restaurant is a bit odd. I can't really describe it; I guess I just don't like the feel of the atmosphere or the layout of the tables, but nothing screams authentic mexican to me. I recommend that you try it for yourself however; if you love AUTHENTIC Mexican cuisine, you'll feel the same about this place as I did but if you aren't too familiar with mexican food, I think you'll enjoy this place a great deal. read more

We just had dinner here and it was bad enough to have to write a review immediately when getting home. We were seated right away and the staff and waiter were very friendly, however the food was all disappointing. They start with the usual chips that came with red and a green salsa. The red salsa seemed to be mixed with tomato paste and just did not taste right. The green salsa was too bland and was more creamy than salsa. For entrees we both had enchiladas verdes that come with rice and refried beans. The beans were too salty and the rice was ok. The enchiladas came with small cubed pieces of chicken and tasted like frozen already-cooked chicken that was microwaved hot. The verde sauce was ok. I couldn't finish more than half the plate and I came incredibly hungry. We'll continue to drive 30-40 miles to Lopez and Los Perez for great Mexican food, we just can't seem to find it in Katy. read more

We're new to Houston and were told by our Texan friends that you can find a decent texmex place on almost any corner in Houston. We've been to a few and none have really impressed me until we tried this place. Everything in Houston is so crowded but we easily found close parking and were seated immediately at 7pm on a Friday night. The waitstaff was great, the drinks came out quick and were delicious, and the food was unique and flavorful. The prices were really reasonable as well.
