Cappuccino

The waiter was friendly and attentive. We ordered the Caesar salad, foie gras, and escargot. Caesar salad - really good! Foie gras - good but felt like the sauce was a bit too acidic Escargot - good but nothing special. Have had better For entrees, we ordered the rabbit and filet mignon Rabbit - husband ordered the rabbit. I didn't try it but he said it was good Filet mignon - I ordered it medium but it came out well done. Despite being well done, it was still tender so I did not send it back. It came with potatoes which were really good. For dessert we ordered the ile flottante with a cappuccino and tea. They had different selection of teas to choose from. Both drinks were good. The dessert was light and airy. If you're looking for a light dessert at the end of your meal, you should give this a try! Overall it is a cute little place in ambler. A bit pricey for what you get. It's no 5 star restaurant in the city but worth giving it a try if you're in the mood for French cuisine.

Great ambience, good service at the table, but food was pricey. Went for a dinner date. Portion sizes are on the smaller side but that is expected. For the fine dining experience and price we pay, we expected a bit more service from the wait staff at the front end, in terms of keeping the door open while we are on our way to our seats. Ordered foie gras( pan seared), seafood bisque and salmon mousse for appetizer. Canard & Trout for the main course. Flottantes for dessert. All items were perfectly done. Its BYOB, so get a wine bottle on your way in. The server at our table had a good knowledge on all the specials of the day. its worth visiting once as it is highly rated, just to experience the restaurant.

Had a pretty decent anniversary dinner at La Provence! This was our first time here. It's a byob so we brought some French Rose to share. Our waiter, Kai, was great. So knowledgeable and attentive. For the food: Lyonnaise salad--husband really liked this Melon salad with sausage, mozzarella, butter lettuce, and white balsamic vinaigrette (special)--surprisingly delicious! Loved the combination of it all! Duck breast with orange sauce, served with braised purple cabbage and mashed potatoes (special)--my husband liked this but wasn't blown away. Turbot (fish) served with onions and mashed potatoes and some sauce (special)-- was just okay. Fish was skin-on and tasted overcooked, and the sauce was too sweet. Ile flottante- meringue brûléed on the top in a little ocean of custard--a perfect light dessert to end the meal. Lemoncello cake--my husband loved this. The entree prices were really steep, probably the most expensive I've ever seen. Not worth the price in my opinion. I don't think we'll go back but overall we were happy with our meal.

We chose the restaurant for the birthday dinner. The setting and ambience of the restaurant were very good. Foie gras is highly recommended!

If you're looking for an enjoyable fine dining experience, look no further. La Provence gives big city restaurant vibes in the heart of Ambler. The service is top notch, with a lead server and an assistant who provide constant attention. The ambiance is elegant but not stuffy and has an intimate feel. The food is also top notch- fresh and skillfully prepared. To start, we had warm, fresh baguette with caramelized butter that hit the mark beyond. Everything we ordered (except dessert) was from the daily special offerings. Starters: langoustine tartar with beet purée and a mushroom fricassee. Entrees: black cod over creamy polenta and branzino over stewed tomatoes. We closed out with Créme Brulee and limoncello cake. Everything was perfectly cooked, flavorful and well balanced. It is a BYOB and perhaps a bit pricy, but I think it's worth it. I can't wait to go back!

profiteroles that are truly out of this world. Not sure what the other dessert is called but it was equally as delicious!!

First, let me just put this out there, the quality and presentation of the food is OUT OF THIS WORLD. I felt like I was eating at a Michelin Star rated restaurant with each bite of food. I was so incredibly impressed. I had the goat cheese on brioche appetizer and was truly wow'd by the taste and presentation. The profiteroles were crunchy on the outside and the cream was smooth and luscious on the inside. The dark chocolate drizzle on top was the perfect balance of sweet and decadent. It was the perfect chef's kiss to end a delicious meal. The only reason this is 4 stars over 5 is because of the service. The staff was extremely friendly and I appreciate them all. However, I am not sure if they were understaffed, but I think we were sitting for about 15-20 minutes before our orders were taken. We actually had to get the manager's attention to even order because our server was busy running around to other tables. Like I said before, the staff was great, so I am wondering if they were short staffed that night. I am not a huge fan of french food so the fact that I was so impressed is really saying something! Check this place out!

Award winning, fine dining restaurant. The food is so delicious that i think the chef and restaurant deserve Michelin stars. Aside from the parking lot, the restaurant gives a cozy, warm candle-lighted ambiance that feels like home. The outdoor seating feels like a big big backyard with running water stones. LOVE the French art in the clean bathroom. Excellent table service. The food is very similar to the French food in Paris in terms of taste, texture and portions. Bring your own drink.

The BYOB is a bit of a bother but all too common in PA and at least you can bring something you know you'll like. what was less good for the evening was a) the environment. I don't know if the a/c was broken but it was somewhat stuffy in there. not bad most of the year but when it 88+ degrees outside this started to get a bit much. the other issue were two very loud women talking at levels to obliterate any other conversation in the place-lady if you're reading this, no one cares if you're 65. They paid their bill and we thought they'd move off but they stayed talking and drinking loudly for more than half an hour with no attempt made to move them on even though the staff knew they were causing problems for everyone else there. it was the inaction more than anything that bothered me. Overall a good time and we'd go back, but just in case we'll wait until it's a bit cooler.

But one thing is certain: Despite…read morebeing highly recommended via a variety of sources, our recent visit to Agua Bistro proved to be something of a disappointment. Our dissatisfaction pertained neither to the restaurant's appealingly cozy ambiance nor to its spot-on personable service. Rather, it was related solely to the preparation and presentation of a portion of the cuisine; which, despite their website's pontification - "Here you will find Chef's handcrafted à la carte menu inspired by a medley of Mediterranean flavors" - fell significantly short of expectations. But let's begin on a positive note... The Fried Artichokes, which my dining partner and I shared as an appetizer, as did the other couple with whom we dined, received nothing but raves. Kissed by a balsamic glaze, caressed by Panko breadcrumbs, and pillowed on mixed greens splashed with lemon dressing, it was indeed an auspicious beginning. Desserts were also quite good... and our little group managed to sample several noteworthy possibilities. My dining partner, for example, enjoyed the Limoncello Cake while I opted for the Apple Tart with French vanilla ice cream. But by far the most interesting dessert of the evening was the Peach Melba, which was shared by the other couple. Actually, "interesting" is something of a misnomer, as the history of this famous confection is as intriguing as its checklist of ingredients is delicious. Peach Melba is a dessert of peaches, raspberry sauce, and vanilla ice cream (Agua's version also adds whipped cream). It was invented in 1892-93 by French chef Auguste Escoffier at London's Savoy Hotel to honor Australian soprano Nellie Melba. In 1892, or so the story goes, Ms. Melba was performing Wagner's opera Lohengrin at Covent Garden. At a dinner party in her honor, Escoffier presented her with a dessert of fresh peaches served over vanilla ice cream in a silver dish perched atop an ice sculpture of a swan (which is featured in the opera). Originally Escoffier called the dish Pêche au Cygne (Peach with a Swan). Several years later, however, he changed the recipe slightly by adding a topping of sweetened raspberry purée and renamed the dish Pêche Melba. Tasty fried artichokes and tempting desserts notwithstanding, it was the entrées that proved to be the kitchen's undoing... And topping the list of eminently forgettable items was my Pan Seared Atlantic Swordfish, which was overly breaded, unattractively hefty of countenance, exhibited a decidedly mushy texture, and tasted offputtingly "fishy" in spots. Ill-chosen accompaniments such as gloppy white beans, olive tapenade, and bland, under-seasoned, undercooked vegetables did absolutely nothing - either gastronomically or asthetically - to remediate this sorry state of affairs. Definitely not the kitchen's finest hour. While other entrées were not as distasteful as my swordfish, they were still nothing to write home about. My dining partner, for example, wasn't exactly thrilled with her Chicken Parmigiana. Not that it was beneath contempt... but she certainly had seen and tasted better in numerous other establishments. What was particularly telling to me was that the kitchen appeared to be rather careless with its entrée presentations. The food photos I observed on the restaurant's website were strikingly beautiful. Up close and personal, however - in the flesh, so to speak - their appearance clearly lacked a certain savoir faire. And for an establishment that seemed to posture itself as significantly above the ranks of plebeian cookery, this was an unappetizing paradox indeed. The major offender in this regard was undoubtedly the Wild Mushroom Ravioli swimming in a madeira cream sauce. Which, while a feast for the palate - at least according to the other gentleman in our party - was also famine for the eye, bearing, in my opinion, uncanny resemblance to the regurgitation of an endangered species. I don't mean to imply that each and every item placed before a diner needs to be a work of art... On the other hand, it should possess sufficient visual appeal to contribute to rather than detract from the enjoyment of an evening at table. In this instance, with just the slightest bit of effort, I think the kitchen could have made this particular presentation infinitely more pleasurable to the eye. An absolutely charming little BYOB, there is no question that Agua Bistro has all the makings of a first-rate eatery. That being said, however... for idealistic promise to become gastronomic reality, it appears that there must be a significant improvement in both the quality and the character of their entrées.

What was even more amazing is you can do the standard size dish or a smaller version depending on how hungry you are. And no, it's not lunch prices and sizes. It's genius for a multi-course meal. The highlights from our meal- - The staff: seriously. Shout out to them. So welcoming from the start. Never rushed us. Asked us if we needed a break before jumping in to dessert. Attentive without being overbearing. A difficult balance they executed flawlessly. - Sea scallops with black truffle risotto: sensational. I would have licked my bowl if that was acceptable - Squid puttanesca: it's a fine line between undercooked squid til it turns rubbery, and this was an exceptional cook. - Pork tenderloin: flavorful and so moist - Rack of lamb with leeks: a jus you never knew you needed. - Bread pudding: unsung hero of the desserts. Amazing. And simple berries and vanilla ice cream? There's nothing simple about it. Shout out to Chef Brian and Sisao. We cannot wait to come back.
