Great experience. We booked our reservation a month in advance. I was a bit skeptical at first, but we thoroughly enjoyed our experience. Small place, very intimate, and just the right pace. The food and drinks were superb, and the service was wonderful. I'd book again on this trip if I could. I definitely finitely recommend this restaurant.
12/10 service - both the waiter and cook are so friendly and nice, taking care to explain the menu, recommend wine, make jokes, everything and more that you can ask for! 10/10 food - the mussels were in season when we went (end of october) and they were the best mussels i've ever had! Definitely ask for the daily specials. The veal and fries were soo good as it's served with the most delicious mushroom cream sauce. The steak and fries were good too but try the veal! The meat honestly just tastes like pork. We got there right when they opened and got seated without a reservation. Would definitely come back if I was in Paris again!

My wife and I have been coming to this restaurant for almost ten years and it is by far our favorite restaurant in Paris. Chef Hugo is a master with the sauces he creates and his food is flavorful, well balanced and well constructed. The restaurant has quite the selection of wines that range from the well known to the less well known but all of them offer a fine compliment to the meals that are being served and it is fun to be able to try wines that are not easily found in the United States. The service and staff are friendly and impeccable. This is not a restaurant where you want to rush through your meal since dining here is more than just the food, it is an experience that, like the food and wine, should be savored. We tell all our friends who come to Paris to come to La Cordonnerie and I would not pass up a chance to come here at least once every time I come to Paris.

Restaurant de La Cordonnerie My wife and I just finished what we agreed was our most enjoyable dinner in Paris. A few days ago I made a reservation at Restaurant De La Cordonnerie. We were one of the first guests at 7.30pm so we had our choice of tables. There are two seating sections; two tables next to the kitchen and approximately five tables in the lower room near the bar. We decided to sit next to the Chef's Kitchen. It was a great choice. The chef is the owner of the restaurant and very friendly. He is following in his mother's footsteps since she opened the restaurant in the 1960's. Both the head waiter and our chef spoke English. We began our dinner with wines recommended by our server. They were both nice selections. Throughout our meal our chef explained how he prepared each of the menu items. Clearly, he is working long hours with lots of preparation for each mealtime. We began our dinner with two appetizers; the miniature mushroom raviolis and a special veal dish. Both choices were great. Our main courses were specials; the white fish with rice and beans, and a special beef dish. They were perfectly prepared. We capped the evening with more wine and a warm chocolate cake. The restaurant is only open Monday thru Friday. Reservations are highly recommended, especially for Friday evening. Enjoy.
Wow! We had such a lovely dinner at La Cordonnerie. We're so glad we found this restaurant through reviews. The atmosphere is intimate and comfortable. We loved watching Chef Hugo cooking. Plus, what he prepared was delicious! We started with the ravioli appetizer we see so often recommended. Excellent! Dinners were a beef dish and a chicken dish. Both were amazing! In addition, dessert featuring a pear mouse was wonderful! Prices are for the good and wines were very fair. As you can guess, we highly recommend La Cordonnerie! read more
I love small cozy restaurants in Paris. This one is truly a gem. We had a reservation at 19:00 and we were the second party to arrive. There are two tables essentially in the kitchen (a true "Chef's Table" arrangement) and maybe 6 tables in the adjoining room. We were welcomed warmly. Deborah was the hostess and server. Chef Hugo is visible in the kitchen, working very hard to make everything just perfect. They brought bread immediately (my husband loved the sliced baguette--it was perfect and chewy as it should be, but not hard). We ordered a bottle of wine, a Macon Villages, which was perfect. I had the cucumber salad appetizer, which was so fresh. My husband ordered the ravioli appetizer--tiny little rectangles in a scrumptious sauce--a work of art. I ordered the fish and shrimp plate. The sauce was amazing and it was a huge portion of tender white fish. My husband had the lamb with frites. It was nicely seasoned & perfectly done. For dessert, my husband enjoyed a chocolate treat and I had refreshing raspberry sorbet. Deborah was so friendly and solicitous throughout the meal. I have never felt so well taken care of. (I have seen some comments from people who are unhappy that they can't just walk in. They don't appear to understand that there is only one seating. People arrive when they do and they linger. Empty tables seen from the street do not mean the place is not fully booked. Make a reservation well ahead of time. It is worth it!) read more

Came here from a recommendation. Looking at the ratings, it seemed decent so we made a reservation. The server was very nice and efficient and was the only one as it was a small restaurant. We shared the duck foie gras which was ok. The veal was ok and the sauce was rice. The frites were excellent. The steak was ok. read more

This was the best meal we had in Paris, in my opinion. I booked a reservation on The Fork for lunch. It is pretty much required that you do a reservation here. The chef makes all your food within 10 feet of you, in view. Everyone in the restaurant receives their meal practically at the same time. I ordered foie gras, which I have never eaten before, and felt torn between animal cruelty and curiosity in tasting it. So, I went with trying it out at least once. It was pan seared with drizzles of unsweet dark chocolate. I cannot begin to describe how creamy and delicious it was. I mopped up all the sauce with the bread they provided. My main entree was white fish (the fresh dill was amazing) with rice and onions. Everything tasted extremely flavorful and buttery. I will probably never eat another meal as satisfying as this one. My husband ordered lamb with fries. He said they were the best fries he has ever eaten. The service is perfect and the waiter translated the menu for us and gave us all the service needed. A reminder, french service is very different from American. They do not hover and do not ask you when you are ready for a check. Please make sure you research the proper etiquette for eating in a French restaurant, so you are not offended by the different in culture. read more

This is by far the smallest restaurant we have ever eaten in. We called on our way to make a reservation which is really needed in order to get a table. We saw several people who were turned away. The food and service were both phenomenal! I had the veal which came Ina rich buttery sauce with French fries. The best fries ever! My husband had the scallops and cod. It was a beautiful presentation and an exceptional dish. Realize that everything tastes better in France because of the butter, but it sure was worth it! read more

Looking for a birthday celebration meal, close to our hotel, I came across this restaurant and emailed for a table. Time and date were accepted with a request that I confirm as they were limited with tables to seating of, about, 25. Obviously with such a small area 'no shows' meant a great loss of income. I confirmed and reading other reviews it was obvious that many had turned up late and their tables had been filled. No problem, we are always early. Anyway, back to La Cordonnerie. We arrived and were shown to our table, nestled in the corner. Yes it was tight but we loved the atmosphere and the old décor. Seeing the guy in the kitchen was eye opening. Eye opening in how did he manage to produce decent food in such a small area. The menu was limited but more than adequate. Many restaurants have a very extensive menu but cannot produce good food. The food at this restaurant, from its menu was exquisite. The wine list was more than adequate with prices from reasonable to the more exotic and beyond our pocket. We plumbed for beautiful white asparagus (well it was the season) in a type of Hollondaise sauce followed by wonderful scallops with accompaniments with that palate tingling aniseed flavour. Ice creams and my pear mousse with aromatic cherries. Then, naturally, coffee. We loved the bistro, loved the people, loved the service. Price was more than reasonable. Thank you for making my birthday a little special. You are special people, especially the guy in that small kitchen, you are an artiste. read more

Amazing steaks and wine (mostly bottle options, but also some glass sizes available)! Came here after getting a lunch reservation online, and was extremely impressed by each dish. Definitely try if you're in the area! I have seen other reviews mention it's hard to get a dinner reservation, so just be aware of that! read more

My brother and sister in law came here for dinner during our trip. They said it was so good my mom and I had to try it before we leave Paris. Little did we know coming in that it would be one of the best meals we would ever have! It is a pretty small place but the ambiance is extremely elegant and classy. We had made reservations before hand online. They are made directly with Chef Hugo, the owner of the restaurant. You can request to have your table in front of his kitchen so you can watch him work his magic! When we arrived the server greeted us with a charming smile. We came a little bit before our reservation time but he seated us anyway! We sat directly beside the kitchen. It was basically like watching food network LIVE. The way Hugo cooks is mesmerizing and can be oddly satisfying to watch. He makes his cooking look effortless. Even while he was cooking he was willing to answer any questions we had about his dishes! Also, this gives you a chance to see how he dishes look before you order them! This really made the dining experience more intimate and fun. Everything was cooked PERFECTLY. We ordered the two appetizer specials(shrimp salad & raw scallops), two entree specials(quail with mashed potatoes and peas & fish with leeks, carrots, and rice), steak with mushroom/onion sauce and frites, chocolate cake/mouse, and the apricot mousse with strawberries. Everyday Hugo changes his specials. MAKE SURE TO ORDER THE SPECIALS. THEY ARE SPECIAL FOR A REASON. read more

This is a solid 4.5 star restaurant. We debated whether or not to give a 4 or 5, and decided upon the 4 because although the food was great we also didn't find it as good as many of the $$ restaurants we visited. As a $$$ restaurants we have a somewhat higher expectation and so settled on the 4 stars. We chose La Cordonerrie for our last dinner in Paris during our 10-day vacation to the City of Lights. We started the meal with a glass of champagne, and ordered the Chervre Frais (fresh, warm goat cheese) and the Terrine de Canard (Duck Pate). Both were excellent choices with the warm fresh bread. The warm goat cheese was extraordinary in that it was the creamiest cheese I've eaten, and the semi-bitter, semi-sweet red beet mouse really complimented the cheese well. I'd highly suggest trying this. I've also included a photo too. For dinners, we ordered the chicken fillet, which was very tender and tasty and served with a Lemmon-butter and rosemary sauce. It was good, but I liked the potatoes they were served with even better. Similarly, my daughter's scallops were very good, but the vegetable mix (leek, cauliflower, and some others I couldn't identify) was even better than the main course. Not that it's not a criticism of the main course, but rather a complement to the accompanying food. I personally thought the lamb steak was the best of them all. It was tender and tasty. My wife got the steak with challots, which has already been reviewed about multiple times and was very good. The fries served with the lamb and steak were somewhat soggy. They were tasty, but probably not my favorites. I also thought the service was excellent. The Chef and owner came out to the tables. It was an intimate environment. Only say 15 on the main dining room. I also noticed that 100% of the guests were American, which was surprising since it's off the beaten path. One other thing of importance is that there are a couple La Cordonnerie restaurants in Paris, so be careful when using Uber or iMaps that you have the right one. I also suggest making a reservation since the restaurant is so small and has limited hours. They were unresponsive to the Yelp messenger, but we're very helpful when we called. Last but not least, the desserts! The Faudant au Chocolat was like a chocolate lava cake and we had to beg my 8yr old some to let us at least try a taste of it. It was awesome. My daughters Mango Mouse was also very good, and the bananas Flambe was a big hit too. One other thing that my wife and I liked was their 1/2 bottle wine selections. Since we started the meal with champagne, we typically would only want one large glass of wine (6.5oz pour) each with dinner, and these half bottle selections were high-end but affordable since they were half the price of a full bottle. read more

Possibly the best meal I had in Paris! I would recommend making a reservation as they only accommodate walk-ins if there are not fully booked for the day. Keep in mind that Parisians typically eat lunch around 1pm, so you may be the only one dining if you're there at 1130 (or the first person to show up for lunch at noon)! I had the daily special app (mushroom w/truffled sauce) and entree (chicken breast topped with pan seared foie gras w/mashed potatoes). My mushroom appetizer was tasty and delicious but not amazing. The chicken breast w/the foie gras was WONDERFUL! I was never a huge fan of french cuisine, and esp. foie gras, but this entree was delicious! I also typically love dark meat, but the chicken breast was juicy and tender which i loved! I would certainly go back when I'm in Paris next time! read more
Tiny little restaurant. We were a fairly large group of 7 so we took one of the last late reservations. It was basically the chef and one waiter. The chef personally came and explained the specials of the night, which is usually what he finds fresh at the market daily .And you can see him cooking in the open kitchen as you wait for the food. For appetizers we got the seared foie gras with this reduced balsamic sauce and these tiny little cheese raviolis in a cream sauce. For being how small the ravioli were, they were little tiny pillows of delicious heaven. The pasta was soft and tender and the delicate filling was a perfect match. The foie gras ws not the best I would have to say. It was a little over cooked and the sauce was too overwhelming. We also go the entree special and two of the ribeyes that is on the regular menu. One of the steaks was in a shallot sauce and the other was just grilled. I would have to say the grilled one without the sauce was much better. Overall all the food was good, it is a very cozy atmosphere and both the chef and our waiter was very nice and helpful. Make sure to make reservations ahead of time as they do book up fast. read more

This meal was "close your eyes" good!! This quaint family-owned restaurant for 51 yrs. only holds about 20 people and requires a reservation (we called on Tues and they couldn't get is in until Thurs.- and I understand why!) I had veal in a mushroom cream sauce- so delicious! Highly Recommend! We had 2 entrees, bottle of wine, an appetizer, a soup, and each had an after dinner drink: final bill was 125 euros. It was pretty reasonable for a nice dinner out! read more
