This is a really tasty French restaurant with a good variety in the cuisine. We did the $45 3-course meal and got an appetizer, entree, and dessert. It seemed worth it since it was really tasty and you get high quality 3-course meal. I got the salmon which was super fresh, the beef bourgeon which was amazing (tender meat) and the crème brûlée which was so good. The staff was friendly and accommodating. We made reservations and it did get busy so I recommend that. You can sit outside which is nice on a quieter sub street near the Eiffel Tower. Came to this fine establishment as it was recommended from a good friend. The atmosphere is cozy and intimate with unique culinary inspired decor on the wall. The hostess greeted us upon arrival, took our coats and sat us. Reservations are recommended as the number of tables are limited. The food was phenomenal, the duck breast was superb and the crème brûlée for dessert is a must. Located not far from the Eiffel Tower walking over to the park du Champ de Mars for the hourly light show at night is a nice way either to begin or end your evening around eating your dinner meal. read more

This small, quaint and charming restaurant is slightly off the main streets. The interior is an inviting and classical French decor. The staff were all friendly and eager to serve; service stayed consistently well even when the restaurant got packed. Entrees/Appetizers are €13, main courses €22, and desserts/cheeses €11...but you can get all three for €37, saving €9, so go for it! Good restaurant overall, serving French classic and modern dishes to both locals and tourists. The wine list has a wide selection from cheap to expensive...but French wine is always good, no matter how cheap it is. Entrees/Appetizers: -Lamb Keftas...pretty good, but I was shocked at the first bite because its served cold! I think its meant to be, but I would've preferred it hot! -Crisped roll stuffed with fresh goat cheese and stir fried vegetables, mint sauce, not French, but very tasty! Le P'tit Troquet is a small restaurant that was about a 10-minute walk from the Eiffel Tower. There isn't much seating (couple tables outdoors and some more inside) so I'd recommend making reservations if you can. The staff spoke English. My first course was their salmon tartare which was delicious with the accompanying sliced baguette. Not too heavy and a great starter. Next I had their beef bourguignon which came in a small, cute little cast iron dutch oven. You can then spoon over the meal from the dutch oven to your plate. The red wine sauce was rich and the beef tender. The carrots, mushrooms, and potatoes were all soft and went beautifully with the red wine sauce. This was quite filling and frankly, had I not already ordered dessert, would have been quite satisfied. For dessert I had their Paris-Brest which was very good. The choux was deliciously crunchy. The filling was rich and decadent and honestly, almost too sweet. Perhaps a leading indicator to the food coma that came not too long after. Overall, I had a fantastic time and the meal and service was phenomenal. read more

What a lovely experience! We are in Paris for just a few days, and found this restaurant via internet search. The reviews looked so strong, we made a reservation. Beautiful evening to dine outdoors on a narrow neighborhood street. The service was superb, Ann and Johannes took great care of us. The menu was a departure from menus we've seen at Paris bistros. Every course was unusual and tasty and beautifully presented. My apricot dessert was something brand new to me and I would go back just for it! I am in a Facebook travel group and several people recommended Le P'tit Troquet for dinner. After reviewing the menu, my boodle and I decided that we needed to make a reservation and check this place out. We were SO glad we did! First, you will need a reservation. The restaurant is very small and intimate, which is really enjoyable. Service here is excellent. I ordered a glass of red wine and a beef dish that was served with caramelized onions and mashed potatoes. It melted in my mouth and had incredibly good flavor. It is important to note that there is a three course prix fixe menu OR you can can order any of the individual menu items. My boodle and I shared a dessert featuring salted caramel ice cream and chocolate cake, and it was heavenly. I hope I can travel to Paris again and go back to Le P'tit Troquet! read more

My first night in Paris, I wanted a quiet, relaxing, delicious meal. I got exactly that, with wonderful hospitality. I had the roast with vegetables and whipped potatoes and the chocolate tart. I also ordered a glass of Cotes du Rhone. This place was not cheap, but was a really great value considering the quality of the food and service. Small intimate restaurant that serves a marvelous three course meal. You choose from several selections for your starter, main plate, and dessert. Each item was wonderful. I selected escargot, duck confit, and a creme brûlée. The cost is a reasonable 39 euros. We ordered a bottle of wine and had an after dinner cognac so the total bill was higher. However, the bill was reasonable considering the quality of the food. Service was superb, attentive and friendly. Definitely will return on our next visit to Paris. read more

This was one of my favorite Parisian restaurants. Thank you Rick Steves for showing us this gem! My boyfriend and I came here on a Friday night, and were so glad we did. We were originally planning to visit on Monday, but later found out it was closed on Sunday and Monday nights so we were able to eat here before we left the country. We didn't have reservations and were lucky enough to get in. The place is quite small, and seems to have steady local clientele. On to the food: We took to the "Menu" meaning the set 32 Euro fixed menu, where you get a choice of an entree (appetizer), main dish and a dessert. Appetizers we ordered: Fois-grois: From their fattened goose livers... so creamy and with subtle flavors... melted in your mouth. Came with 2 pieces of toast. There's a lot of fois-grois, so be prepared to slather that stuff on! I'm actually extremely surprised i liked it as I do not like liver or pate. I figured we're only going to be in France for a short while, so why not give it a try, as there's no better place to eat it. So good. Melon and ham (prosciutto style) with romaine lettuce. Very good too. Crisp lettuce, just the right amount of dressing, and juicy cantaloupe. Mains: Veal stew - The best stew we had in Paris during our whole trip. Hands down. The stew was very flavorful, and the meat was perfectly tender. The potatoes and carrots were also very flavorful as they'd been marinating in the sauce for a while, and had a great taste. Not too salty, but just right. I wish I could go back right now and eat more! Steak - "au point." Their medium was a little too done for me, and I expected it to be a little more on the less-done side. However, still delicious. The sauce that came with it was meaty and went very well with the steak. It also came with some roasted/pan fried small potatoes (smaller than fingerlings), that had a nice "crisp" texture on some of the sides. Dessert: creme-brule - Very good. The top was nice and crisp and cracked so nicely when tapped with a spoon. peach/apricot tart - warm pastry type dessert.... could have been more crisp as the pastry part was a little on the softer side than I prefer. Both came with a little tiny meringue (picture Hershey Kiss size) with a penned smiley face on it. It was a nice touch. :) Yes i'd come here again, and i wouldn't think twice about it. However, I would make a reservation as I'm not sure how lucky i'd be about getting a table without one again. read more

First dinner on our honeymoon! Recommended by both Rick Steves (our third wheel) and our receptionist so we knew it was a must try. This tiny, adorable restaurant is like stepping into another time. 1920's comfy dining room decor and a GIANT espresso machine make the room. Full of (but not packed with) tourists and savvier locals. Pre fixe is 35. I started with a giant slab of foi gras and haven't looked back. Mike got the shrimp risotto which blew everyone's mind all over the walls. I won best entree choice for the night. Rabbit with BACON. And the potatoes alongside were like the best hash-browns in NJ. Yes. That's a good thing. Finally the creme brûlée. A marriage of vanilla and beautiful hard s'mores crust (in American speak). Best we've had. My husband had duck pâté and said it was good. He had duck confit. He liked it and I loved the special beef with mushroom sauce. Desserts were good, but nothing amazing. It was with the help of him, Emile, that got us a seat at this small, quaint Parisian bistro. He was a regular. Staff was so warm and friendly. Fantastic food and great service for a reasonable price. I booked a visit to the top of the Eiffel Tower on a Tuesday night and made reservations here for beforehand. 3 courses, prix fixe, for ~35 euros. I tried every dish that my family got and everything was on point so I'll refrain from recommending anything in particular. My family drinks a lot of water and our carafe was filled at least 10 times throughout the night(this is huge for me) and the waitress was very accommodating and explained the dishes well. The only strange thing to me was the abundance of Americans in the restaurant. I didn't see a single French diner in our time there and only 2 non-American tables(both Italian). It's not on a big street and, in fact, is seemingly off the beaten path. Nonetheless, we had a great meal here and some cheap laughs at the expense of a young American girl asking if the restaurant had wi-fi so she could play on her phone. read more

This is A MUST if you're in Paris! The staff treated us so well and they really go above and beyond to make sure everything is perfect. I have celiac disease, so it makes it challenging sometimes to find a place to eat out. I let the server know about this when we first sat down, and they brought me a special menu that highlighted which options are gluten-free. Then they walked us through the menu explaining which items are OK for me. They also double-checked with the chef just to make sure it was safe. They even made me a special salad, that wasn't on the menu, because there wasn't an apéritif I could eat. They were attentive, and you can tell they truly care. The ambiance is wonderful, and it's very cozy inside. They have a lot of antiques for decor and everything just works. The presentation is pretty and inspiring. The food is absolutely delicious and we enjoyed everything about this place. It's just excellent. read more

Dominique and her husband no longer are there and we found it just average this trip and will not be back. We both had beef bourguignon it was good but not great. A lovely restaurant in Rue Cler. We ate there in late June 2014 in our first evening in Paris. Very small and hot! My wife and son had the boeuf bourguignon, and we had a risotto appetizer. The staff was wonderful. Unfortunately we had to leave without dessert because my son was not feeling well. The staff was truly distressed and thought we didn't enjoy our meal. Not true! Well. We stumbled upon this place after visiting the Eiffel Tower. We apparently read the menu wrong and the hostess/waitress treated us poorly because of it and made us wait another 15-20 mins to order after that. She wasn't warm or kind and hardly smiled. 2 of us ordered a main dish and dessert and waited more than 20 mins for our main dish because our 3rd guest had a starter. The salad was lovely. The 3 of us ordered the boeuf Bourgogne (which the waitress sneered at us for whatever reason), and it was bland, boring and I could have cooked better. It lacked burgundy wine and was even brown in color instead of red/burgundy. Don't bother. We had the house special that night, a pear dessert, blah. Treated poorly, fed poorly and it took way too long. Skip it. read more

By far the best meal I had in Paris! Lucky for us this quaint restaurant was two doors down from our hotel. We were able to grab the last table around 9pm on our first night in Paris. The place was very charming and the staff extremely friendly and unphased by our inability to speak French. We sampled duck pate, duck confit, beouf bourguignon , washed it down with a fabulous Bordeaux, and topped it all off with scrumptious desserts. We enjoyed a late dinner here on a Monday night. The waitstaff was great and very attentive. The food was terrific. My girlfriend who is a vegetarian was able to order some assorted sautéed vegetables off the menu. They came with spaghetti noodles and she loved them. I had the lamb which was perfectly prepared. Delicious. We met a young couple who had traveled there from Holland and had some great conversation and an after dinner drink. This place also had a very good wine selection.
