Scallops
Heidi S.

I agree with all the reviews here. This spot is a little charmer. The owner and waiter greet you at the door with a hand shake. The restaurant is cozy and the walls are lined with photos of celebrities. The owner comes to your table to read the menu. He told me the menu changes daily depending on what's available. I had the scallop starter, which was delicious and perfectly cooked. For my entree I had a fish dish that came with some vegetables. It was also perfectly cooked and was accompanied by a delicious butter, lemon sauce on the plate. While I was stuffed, the waiter told me the chocolate moose was homemade, so I just had to try it. It was worth it - light, airy and not too sweet. All this and great wine too. It's rare when you can say you had great service at a restaurant in Paris. Prices were reasonable, with the wine running 8€ a glass, appetizer was about €13 and entree 22€. I am staying in the neighborhood for work and definitely will be back again.

From the 30 seconds after I walked in I felt like I was amongst friends. The quality of the food only added to the quality of the service. The charcuterie was excellent and the wine was even better. I'm looking for the next excuse to drag my friends and family here.

Ate my 2016 thanksgiving meal here. Some homemade tapenade and white wine to get things off to a start. Steak and house fries were the house specialty, and they did not disappoint. Finally the mousse au chocolat was quite tasty ! Would definitely go back.

foie gras... really nice with the sea salt and honey.

What a lovely place. The hours of operation are different on various websites... so to be clear: I went on a Tuesday night and while they stayed open later, the kitchen closes at 10pm. The host was very nice to seat me at 9:45pm, but made sure that I only ordered dishes which were quick to prepare. I already kind of knew what I wanted, so quickly ordered the foie to start, entrecote main, glass or two of Bordeaux and some Oban to finish. The service was fast and SUPER friendly. While the ambience, decor and all were charming and cozy, it was *really* warm inside. I'm always warm by nature, so this place was kind of a sauna for me. It's no game-changer, just be aware... don't wear a sweater when coming here. One could well order small and spend maybe €20-30. If you eat like a mensch who enjoys life you're looking at about €50-80 per person, easily. Anyway, the food was perfect, and since I went big -- tonight being my last night in Paris -- the kind host gave me a smile and a shot of calvados at the end. I left stuffed, happy and perfectly drunk. I would happily recommend this place for duos or small groups looking for very well executed traditional French cuisine, served heartily and with a genuine smile.

Great lamb veal and 3 meats dish.

Friendly staff, great food! Host greeted us with a handshake and explained the menu in English as best he could. Food was delicious which was great because we had not heard good things about French cuisine. I highly recommend!

Le Chenin lived up to its wonderful reviews! It's an adorable, cozy spot for an authentic but approachable French meal. The owner welcomed us with a handshake and brought us bread and tapenade to start. He took great care to explain the menu in both French and English and recommended a wine to go with the food we'd chosen. We split the charcuterie to start followed by the duck confit. We had the berry and creme and mousse au chocolat for dessert. All were délicieux and very reasonably priced. I highly recommend Le Chenin. Best to make a reservation, as the restaurant is petit.

Great find about 5 min walk from Galleria LaFayette. It's one of our best meal in Europe. Ham, Foie Gras, and Escargot were great! Steak and Duck were awesome! The owner and server were some of the most friendly people you can meet!

Go to this place! It is absolutely amazing! It is worth every single dollar/ euro you spend. My husband and I found them on Yelp and took a chance - you should too! We wandered in and were greeted with a sincere smile and a handshake. My husband was very sick and the owner/ manager (I'm not sure) took it upon himself to make sure he was taken care of - a nice hot drink and kind suggestions. Also he only spoke French and we only speak English but it didn't matter. The gentleman made a point to explain the menu to us to best of his ability and was extremely patient and kind to us. Now to the food- WOW! Listen to him when he makes a suggestion he won't steer you wrong. I got the white fish with veggies and my husband got the steak with fries - yum yum yum! We also had a magnificent bottle of wine and the dessert was heavenly It may be on the small side but that is part of the charm - sitting elbow to elbow with some of the locals in a charming and cozy setting is something you can't put a price on. If I could go here everyday I would - 10/10 absolute perfection!

The best foie gras ever.

Best meal we had in Paris. Greeted at the door, we had hugs before we left. Most amazing foie gras I've ever eaten, made on site by the chef. I had the steak three ways, tartare was the best! My husband had the beef loin, it was so tender and had so much flavor. Great wine recommendation - he said we could drink what we wanted from the bottle and he would only charge us for what we drank. Well, we drank the bottle. Beautiful pear tart for dessert with port. Great night.

These smaller bistro type eateries are the lifeblood of the local cuisine. They consistently offer reasonably priced dishes that are full of flavor and technique. The wine and drink options are well catered to the menu and they provide options for most price points. The service we experienced was exactly what you want... our server had plenty of suggestions based on the offerings of the day. The service was attentive and responsive... not much more than you could ask for. I had the duck breast being offered... it was served alongside crispy potatoes, green beans, and a salad. Adding in the onion soup and a glass of wine... it quickly became a King's dinner at a very reasonable price. I would be more than happy to eat here again and look forward to exploring the rest of the menu offering many local and classic French options.

Like others have said, it's super small inside, so you'll get to know your neighbors really well. But your attention will be more focused on the food they bring out. I had the lamb with thyme sauce and my wife had the confit duck leg. Don't be afraid to pick the sauce of the day over the regular honey sauce. The sauce of the day on the day we went was a blackberry sauce which was crazy good. With a bottle of wine at 24 euros and both entrees under 20 euros, you couldn't really beat a meal of that quality in many places around Paris for that price. It was only after I ate at Le Potager did I see it had a bunch of great reviews on Yelp. It's definitely earned all those stars.

Making a reservation isn't hard but you do need to email them and there's no online booking system. You also have to confirm again 1-2 days before. I understand they are small with a limited number of tables so that's fair and it seemed like everyone showed up even though they don't require a deposit. On a Friday night, it didn't appear there was much chance or walking in although there were like 2 open seats at what would have been a shared table. The menu is small and includes some typical French starters, steaks, 3 non steak entrees, cheeses, and dessert. All steaks come with potatoes, 3 sauces, salad. Service was a highlight. The waiter was personable and funny, had solid recommendations, and made sure leftovers were taken home. Also had a solid wine recommendation after asking some questions. They probably get a lot of people who don't speak French and they had no problem speaking English. The food- ordered a ribeye medium rare. The steak was so so charred on the outside and it almost ruined the whole thing. I really wish they would have charred it way less especially when it was ordered medium rare. There is seared and then there is burnt; this was sadly the latter. The steak itself was fine, honestly nowhere near the best meat I have had but the price is quite reasonable for how much you get. I would say the steak was maybe 6/10 for me, largely due to the cooking. The fries were phenomenal. Definitely a highlight and really tasty and with a great texture. Salad was good, pretty typical. I wanted to like the sauces more but found them just okay. The best by far for me was the blue cheese sauce but even this one I thought the flavors could have popped a little more. Atmosphere was fun, there were a few bigger groups (6-8 which is the biggest they accommodate) but it never got unreasonably loud. Overall I wanted to love it but was a bit disappointed even though the service and fries were both great.

It's a tiny restaurant, so if you're a party of two, you might share a table with others, but they have spacers so you don't feel like you're eating together. Reservations were easy to make. You email in your requested sitting and someone will get back to you shortly. We were able to get in a little ahead of schedule and start the adventure. Wines were reasonably priced and they had a good variety of cocktails. We hadn't had French onion soup on our trip, so we ordered it as an appetizer. Sometimes it can get a little salty, but these were very well blended. Sacree Fleur seems to be known for their steak and frites, so we ordered the steak for two. Steak comes out on a sizzling platter. You can turn the pieces over to keep cooking until your preferred temperature. It was quite succulent and the fries were well prepared. There are two dipping sauces and some salt to season your meal. We hadn't a great time and way too much food :)

We were so looking forward to the frog legs, onion soup and other delicacies pictured. We got there and the sign was just as it was with the same name -- Au Pied du Sacre Coeur. We should've noticed something was wrong when no one was inside. When the waiter (lone person working along with cook) gave us the menu, my wife and I stared at each other completely confused. The menu looked nothing like the ones on this website and featured Italian food items, like spaghetti, arroz con pollo or mozarella. I asked him about frog legs or the onion soup. He looked confused and just said no. Out of respect for him, we just ordered the charcuterie, which featured stale bread and a few slices of meat taken from my local grocery store in the U.S. Also -- they claimed to not accept any international credit cards. WHAT HAPPENED? Are all these reviews fake? Most likely, they underwent new ownership right when we visited. But new visitors -- please beware. Do not trust any of the reviews before mine. If I was mistaken, please post photos and just tell me that I was part of some elaborate joke to ruin a lunch for me and my wife.

That's not acceptable. The food, however, was. Hence my difficulty in giving one rating. Our 3 dishes tried were indeed solid. Generous servings of seafood in the bouillabaisse, and I have no qualms whatsoever with my cuise de grenouille and foie gras salads. Bread kept us alive. The free Cote du Rhône glass was appreciated for check-in! Our server had his head permanently at a 30 degree angle, staring at his mobile. Tis a shame. But he was friendly ( oh, and easy on the eyes). I liked the quiet location out of the chaotic fray, like up the street, with all its smoking and volume. PS This is lover's type of location. Even the dark end of the small street feels illicit!
