Good service and tasty food. Probably had the best frites out of the couple of restaurants we've had in Paris. The escargot and tuna tartare were good. The tataki beef was really soft and different than your usual plain steak frites. It came with an avocado salad with some sort of umami sauce. I got the white fish with house white sauce (tasta like fennel, garlic, but creamy), that was the best dish for me! Duck breast cooked well and it was very tender. With such great reviews and recommendations on the French Onion Soup - which is what I wanted to try - we opted to visit this restaurant one evening for dinner. We ordered a couple of spritzers and asked about the Soup. The server then scoffed that they don't have French Onion Soup - "It's summer...who eats soup in the summer?!" Ummm... we do. We eat soup when we want it. We eat chicken noodle soup when we are sick, tomato soup when craving comfort food, and as I am (usually) plant-based, all manner of vegetable soups all the time. He just didn't have to be rude about it. Ok. So I understand in France it's different and it's a seasonal restaurant. Moving on. After reviewing the menu, there was not really anything drawing our interest as we weren't looking for a particularly heavy, full meal (we had really just wanted that French Onion Soup), so opted to order dessert - crème brûlée and a chocolate something (can't remember what it was). The server then tells us we can't have just dessert. What?! Then we ask if can just have a drink, but NOPE. We can't have that either. Order a full meal or nothing. ??!! Is this because we are Americans? So. To the restaurant- your service stinks, you give France a bad name, you almost ruined what would have been a nice evening in Paris for us, but we went to another sidewalk cafe where they were happy to serve us our aperitifs and desserts. They were delicious! They made money - keep in mind, as Americans, we are generous tippers too - and everyone was happy. Had we been served, we might have come back for more another time, but clearly you aren't interested in serving food, so we can only imagine it was because we are Americans. Lamb: Very tender and well-marinated - no gamey tastes at all. It's all in the sauce. The carrot was also good. The portion is a bit small. Duck Breast: Really savory and delicious and rich. The duck is also really tender. The berry sauce adds just the perfect amount of sweetness. All of the dishes came with mashed potatoes, which was appreciated because the dishes weren't too filling. Moelleux: Decadent and creamy. Really nice finisher! The hard sugar piece on top was all right, it tasted okay but got stuck in my teeth. They have a great menu - unfortunately, they did run out of many menu items by the time we were seated at 8 PM. Servers were friendly and offered to translate the menu for us. I came the day before assuming this place was serving food at 2 am. Unfortunately when we got there around 11:00 the place looked closed already. They need to update their hours since it's incorrect. I was a bit disappointed when I was told they changed their menu to risotto & chicken. Although it didn't sound as appetizing as scallops I decided to give it a try. So glad I did. The risotto was Cooked perfectly. It was nice and creamy and cheesy and the morsels of chicken leg was super tender . I wasn't expecting that at all . The chicken tasted a lot like quail. I was loving every bite. It also tasted great with the balsamic reduction on the side. Overall this dish was super filling and tasty. Try it 5/5 Dessert Creme brûlée: Great way to end our meal . It tasted how a Creme brûlée should taste. The consistency was almost like flan , it was a little more dense which was still good .5/5 The service here was great and they even spoke some English which came in handy. This is the most wonderful ambiance in Paris! There was a wonderful reception when we walked in the door and were seated. The first thing you notice is the restaurant is cozy and quaint. The service was spectacular! The staff was very understanding and patient with our limited French and took the time to explain the menu in English when needed. We started with the French onion soup, escargot and charcuterie. All were excellent especially the preparation of the escargot. The duck was cooked to perfection and honestly the best we have ever had which is special because we have it every Christmas. The risotto aux champignons was to die for. It was creamy and cooked wonderfully. The thon Chinoise was so good! We finished with the crème brûle and gâteau chocolate which were heavenly. It felt like someone's living room--dimly lit with a warm/cozy feeling. You will literally be squeezed into a table as they pull the table out for you to get by and "tuck you in". To that end, if you have a large party, any special physical needs, or simply a body that is uncomfortable in tight spaces.... I don't recommend! The chances of you getting one of the more "spacious" tables in this tiny restaurant is not good. PRICES: I'd say the prices were comparable with other Parisian restaurants, but.... Surprisingly, the highlight of the meal was the burger. The brioche buns were perfectly soft, the meat was moist and juicy (medium rare), and the fries were crispy, just how I like them. I honestly felt like it was one of the best burgers I've had.. in my life. I would probably go back there just for the burger. Escargot wasn't bad, but it felt too... snail-y for me lol. The dark-hair female at the bar, May 13, 4pm ruined our experience. We've been to this restaurant 5 times in a year but may not come back. Sadly, the food here is actually great. She mocked us when we attempted to speak French and we tried to introduce ourselves and ask for a table ... I actually thought it was pretty good. She told us they weren't serving food. I said thank you and we started to leave. As we walked out she laughed and waived her hands, mockingly, with the other two customers who were at the bar. They didn't laugh with her. We asked the female bartender what she thought was funny about us and she blushed and tried to blame it on something else but it was obvious to everyone around. One customer came outside and told us that she was sorry for the woman's behavior and that she thought it was great that we are practicing French. I certainly agree. We love Paris and we are trying. The female bartender is also an immigrant and I would have thought she'd be more understanding about us attempting to learn and practice. Insulting and sad. We came here for dinner on one of the nights when visiting Paris and it was a lovely experience! This was our first night in Paris and didn't make any prior reservation. We dropped in at this place with no reservation and luckily we got a table right away. The set up is really nice for a brasserie, conveniently located and the food was really nice! We ordered their bistrot burger and linguines aux champignons and both plays were delicious. We got some creme brûlée for dessert and it was good too! We ordered French onion soup, the Japanese inspired shrimp salade, and the egg and mushroom special, a glass of champagne and a glass of Bordeaux. Everything was delicious.
