One of my favorite afternoon tea and breakfast place for a steal. Their breakfast in the past has been a hit or miss especially with their milk tea but surprisingly it's gotten better the last few times I've been there in recent months. Afternoon tea is a great place to hang and grab a small bite with drink. Definitely your classic HK tea feel. They're quick and does rush you during weekend brunch hours. Their baked dishes are also one of our favorites. Prices are reasonable for the neighborhood.

Staffs were friendly. Came here for brunch which was busy. I recommend ordering their breakfast set which has variety of options - each $8. It also comes with coffee or milk tea. You can request them to make the drinks cold on a summer day. Food: 4/5 Service: 4/5 Ambience: 4/5

Kowloon Café 九龍冰室 was bustling when we visited twice in one day; we had short waits for a table in both visits. What we had: - Spam and Egg Sandwich 餐肉蛋三明治: $4.25; $4.63 with tax. - Plain Wonton Soup 淨雲吞湯: $9; $9.80 with tax. - Singapore-style Stir-Fried Vermicelli 星州炒米: $12; $13.07 with tax. Good flavor, but with a thin layer of ingredients atop the noodles. - Baked Portuguese Chicken with Spaghetti 焗葡國雞意粉: $10; $10.89 with tax. We didn't like the coconut-flavored noodles and chicken. - Hong Kong Style Milk Tea (hot, 8 oz) 熱港式奶茶: $2.75; $2.99 with tax. Good, but not as nuanced as the one from Superior Wonton. Other: One has to separately request chopsticks. The restrooms are well-maintained. Overall we prefer Chun Hong Kong Café to Kowloon Café as the former seems to use more and higher-quality ingredients in their dishes, but Kowloon Café is a respectable choice for the area.

Nice little place that has authentic Hong Kong breakfast and some plates from there. The only problem is the place opens a little late for offering breakfast at 10am. This place gets very crowded, especially on the weekends so it can get loud and feel a little crowded. Because it can busy, sometimes your wait time for food can get a little long. Overall, the food the pretty good at least.

Service was excellent. Not busy when we went around 8pm. People did come in after we ordered. Food reminded me of Hong Kong. Would go back for more .

Had the sizzling steak that comes with Broccoli and spaghetti, the steak was salty and spaghetti was too sweet and had a weird aftertaste. Had the shrimp and egg rice noodles which were alright. The soy sauce chicken wings, toast with Condensed milk, scallion pancake, and imitation shark fin soup. Service was good and quick.

Was in the area and visited Kowloon again with my nephew, which hasn't been there for over 10 years. While the food was decent, I felt the portion got smaller. The sweet & sour pork over rice needed a little more sauce. The crab pocket was just not how it used to tasted. Wings were great, French toast tasted a little off as well. Both the noodle soups were meh, my nephew wasn't quite full with the bowl of noodles.

This restaurant makes me feel like I'm dining in Hong Kong. The menu selection and décor bring back memories of Hong Kong, and the food is delicious with generous portions at a good price. It does get crowded, especially on weekends, so be prepared for a bit of a wait.

Liked a place that tastes good and offers a good selection of special combos. Came here for breakfast and it's a place for Hong Kong style food. That means tasty and not spicy. Lots of rice based offers. We had congees and noodles (both string and flat ones). Just go and give it a try. I will come back!

Butter & Condensed Milk with Toast The peanut butter that almost killed my son

Ordered take out last night. They are really skimping/not doing quality control. The "6th" wing is basically not existent. And don't even get me started on the toast. We asked very specifically for "butter & condense milk toast" only! They added peanut butter and almost killed my son who is allergic to nuts! Thank God I checked the toast before giving it to him. Only reason I'm still giving two stars is for the beef chow fun with egg sauce which is always on point.

I got the breakfast special tomato with chicken in macaroni soup, I was looking for a spot that had this type of asian meal and I went here with my friend, it was really delicious the meat was on the dry side but it felt like home having to eat this again. the lemon honey really hit the spot especially for a cold day like today. the waiters were nice and I recommend this spot if you are looking for a small meal instead of going to dimsum.

Came recently because I really wanted to try the beef with radish stew. However, the stewed beef was mostly all beef tendors- very chewy. I actually disliked those Chinese stew beef tendons as its hard to eat. I know it's expected in Chinese beef stew and even in the traditional beef noodle soups, but there wasn't much regular beef pieces. Their noodles in mix sauce (cheng fun) is always piping hot and delicious.

I can't believe that in this day and age, the noodles and soup weren't separated. By the time I got home, the noodles were completely soggy and falling apart. The beef was tough, chewy, and impossible to bite through--definitely not enjoyable at all. For the price and the quality, this was a huge disappointment. I won't be coming back.

I eyed the low star rating with some trepidation, because many of the criticism was coming from Cantonese people who know what they're talking about and as far as I could tell, judging the place plainly and not on an unreasonably strict curve. Perhaps because my expectations were level set and because the 3 items I had were decent, my normally critical self is going to round up what I would consider a 3.5 star experience to 4 stars. My partner and I biked here on our fancy bikes that we didn't feel comfortable locking outside, and they very kindly allowed us to keep our bikes in the front area. Some tables were occupied, but it was pretty chill on the Saturday afternoon I visited so this might be why they were so relaxed about it. We got the horlick french toast, rice noodles with fish balls, and HK milk tea. It's true that I'm used to Manhattan and north Brooklyn prices but wow things were shockingly cheap on this menu. I didn't expect the best food but the horlick french toast and HK milk tea were particularly good. I think the fish balls and noodles tasted like they were either rehydrated or defrosted and absolutely not made fresh, but again I think this dish was like 5 or 6 bucks? So I'm fine with a little reheated noodle action. What I really came here was for the ambience, and even the haters in the reviews can't deny this place is cute. If I were here with a group I would love to sit in one of their plush booths. They didn't rush us at all and didn't mind me walking around taking dozens of videos. I'd recommend a visit!

After…read moregiving them some time for improvements, I decided to give them a chance, and I'm glad I did! The decor is beautiful. I haven't been back to HK since I was 1, but I've been told that the decor is very reminiscent of HK, including the plates and bowls. The food portions are huge compared to what I've seen them serving back when they first opened, based on reviews online. I really like that they are willing to improve themselves. Food itself is pretty solid - I haven't had a rice dish where I felt like I would never order again. Maybe one negative is the fried chicken wings that I recently got, it had a thick layer of batter on them compared to the first time I got them. The batter also seems to be different, similar to the sweet potato starch batter used for popcorn chicken. They have a new HK-style stinky tofu on the menu, which was good, but not as stinky as what I've tried in Taiwan. They also mix them into a salty, spicy sauce, which may be a bit too salty and spicy for people with milder tastes. I would try asking them to put the sauce on the side next time. The service is not the best, but also not the worst. The male waiter doesn't really ever smile, but he will get you what you need when you ask for it. They also never refill your tea or water unless you ask. It's not a make-or-break for me if the food is good, though! I think Chun is one of the better HK cha chaan tengs in the area, with beautiful decor. The initial negative reviews when they first opened probably gave them a slower start, but they're slowly getting more popular now. I wish they promoted themselves on social media because their decor is almost like an attraction that would bring in the younger generation, but I also kinda want to keep this as my own hidden gem!

The breakfast is cheaper but also comes in a smaller portion, which I think it's still enough. Each noodle set comes with eggs of your choice, butter toast and hot drink. Their Hong Kong style milk tea and iced lemon tea taste super authentic, exactly like what I grew up having in HK. Savory, peanut-y, and sooo good with instant noodles or vermicelli. *HK Style French Toast 一口西多士 $6 * Almost every table ordered the french toast and now I get why. Since it's cut into cubes, you get extra crispy edges in every bite. The center was filled with peanut butter. Crunchy, buttery, and sooo nostalgic. *HK Street Style Shu Mai 魚肉燒賣 $4.5 One of my favorite HK street snacks, and it's actually hard to find fish paste shumai in NYC. This storefront used to be Yozi's, which looks almost the same now. It is bright and welcoming, seating is open, and felt spacious. The service was decent, and the food came out relatively fast. For appetizers, I got the salt and pepper squid. For $6.50, I really can't expect much in terms of portion sizes, but I was quite disappointed at how overcooked it was. It was too dark to be golden brown and was very dry and chewy. Each piece of squid was essentially more than $1 each. I would not get this again. The club sandwich was decent, but it's hard to mess up a simple sandwich. For entrees, we got the Baked Curry Chicken Cutlet Rice and the Baked Portuguese Chicken Cutlet Rice. Both were actually pretty good, and portions were good, although I will say the curry one has a stronger flavor. The Portuguese sauce was very coconutty and milder in flavor. The chicken cutlets were seasoned well and were tender. I also love that parts of the egg fried rice base were a bit crispy, similar to the bottom of a claypot rice, but not as tough on the teeth. The rice dishes were better than expected, and the prices weren't that bad. I'd come back to try some of their other things while keeping in mind not to order the squid again! Using regular milk will covered the aroma of the tea and pushed the texture to a smoother but lost its taste of the traditional HK Milk Tea favor. This is still good for a regular craving though. I also tried this French Toast with Cream of Mushroom. The French Toast in HK should be paired with Syrup and butter with jam/peanut butter within the toast. This one at Like Cafe was fusion with Cream of Mushroom and cheese inside the toast. It made this devilish afternoon tea item a savory meal itself. It's amazing.
