Honestly I think the reviews for the new management are exaggerated a little bit. There were 2 of us and we ordered the regular bibimbap, soup, and bossam which altogether came out to $60. The portion is still normal sized (maybe not as huge as old management) but we left full with even some food leftover. The bossam in my opinion was even better than old management's. It had so much flavor and it was so soft and tender. Although the menu did condensed down, the pricing is still the same for the most part maybe a few items varying in price but nothing drastic. Staff is always very friendly and inviting. Depending on what you like, they have traditional dishes, or you can barbecue it yourself. Both are fantastic, and you definitely get your money worth. Very good side dishes with unlimited refill, side dishes have about 9 different kinds. The food came with big portion as always, and great service. Of course the price is not cheap but the portion you got is totally worth it. They proactively offer cups with lid for my kids without asking, and when I refill my favorite potato and fishcake side, they double the portion for us. Because the restaurant is enormous, tables are well separated from each other. Additionally, tables are all doubled (as if for 8) even if only 2 are dining. Wasted space, but VERY safe. Wow. Just wow. This is probably the best Korean spot at an amazing price. It even beats its main competitor (Jin KBBQ). Their bbq combo is a literal STEAL. The combo comes with hot pot, soup, noodles, fried rice, sides, and DESSERT AT THE END! We had the amazing raw marinated crabs... it was so delicious. I literally died on the inside, it was AMAZING. We have come to eat here several times. Our last visit was less enjoyable than the rest. It was peak summer and the a/c unit wasn't working and they only seemed to have one fan to cool the dining area where we were sitting. Plus, we were sitting by the hot grill, it made for a bit of an uncomfortable experience. But we love the food here! We like to order one of their combos that is meant to feed around 3 people. In our case, it is a lot of food and we happily take the leftovers home. Most of the time they have exceptional service, but this last visit not so much. Even though the establishment was practically empty, with maybe a few other customers there, the boys serving our table were very slow to work. In fact, they rarely visited our table, often forgetting our drinks or other requests like utensils and napkins. We'd see them on several occasions congregating in the kitchen just to talk or stand around while we waited for them to notice us requesting service. It's the food that makes up for everything. We like the meat and the variety of sides they serve, all exceptional quality in our opinion. I personally like to order their spicy rice cakes every time I visit. Their seafood soups are also one of our favorites. We really enjoy their food and consider it one of our favorites to visit for Sunday dinners as a family. read more

It came with a refreshing side salad that helped make the meal feel healthy. My wife got the oxtail soup and it had a rich taste (did need to session to salt a little bit). First visit after driving by for years, was amazing! it had almost 5 stars. for good reason! it was a bit of paradise on Broadway, then i went in October for my birthday, the place was empty! the menu changed, and the servers stood around with nothing to do. all seafood off the menu, which was what I was so excited about. New owner, Asiana market owner, I was told. they are rude, and the food is less than average. I won't go back! I tip well because the abused workers deserve it. it went from hero to zero in less than a year. If the server with no tables spends to much time at your table. they ring a bell! At the moment, I think it's the best KBBQ in the East Valley. Before finding Koreatown, we had tried a handful of the places out here and found the quality either needed improvement or just okay. I don't care if a place is AYCE and would much rather have better cuts of meat. While on the pricier side, Koreatown checks the quality box for me. The couple times we have come, we have usually just done A La Carte from the beef options. They have combinations if you prefer, but they generally have excellent quality across the board. We typically order the brisket, bulgogi, and the small cut rib if available. It comes with rice, the house salad, and all your usual banchan. The big negative, and why I didn't give Koreatown five stars, is they only have a few tables with grills. The restaurant has grills, and the other side is tables. Since there are so few grills, it can sometimes be a long wait time. There is ample parking since it's in a big plaza and close to a market if you want to walk around. read more

I went on a Friday and it was pretty busy. My friends and I ordered golbengi muchim (sea snail? salad), spicy intestine soup, and galbijjim (braised beef short ribs) I think it took about an hour to get our food. The golbengi muchim came out first and didn't come with any noodles, (Usually this dish is served with noodles in other Korean restaurants.) but it was really good regardless I'd definitely recommend this dish. However the other two I wasn't satisfied at all. Intestine soup (gopchang jungol) - very bland. Probably the worst Gopchang jungol I've ever had. It had alot of thick block cut vegetables and udon noodles, but little bit of instestines. This dish is about $46. This is way overpriced and not worth the money. I've had way better gopchang jungol at other places for $35. Do not waste your money on this. Braised beef (galbi jjim) - They used LA galbi meat for this dish which is not what they had in the picture in their menu or the norm for galbi jjim. Also galbi jjim is not supposed to have any soup and it's not supposed to be red.. I was kind of confused if they got mixed up with galbi tang which is similar but with soup. But the server specifically said it was galbi jjim. And the soup was way too sweet. It wasn't the galbi jjim we were expecting or wanting. The service wasn't too great I assume it was because it was a busy day, but our server didn't refill any of the banchans (side dishes) not even once. Besides that the restaurant was clean and I liked how big the tables were. But I don't think I'll come back because I've had better korean food elsewhere and this place is way overpriced. I'm not super familiar with Korean cuisine. I ordered Beef Bulgogi for 21.99. The meat was quite tasty and served with 6 sides. Unfortunately I only liked 2/6 sides, but maybe it's just me. I used scissors to cut the meat down to bite-sized pieces which I think is typical for the dish. Overall, I would've preferred half the portion at half the price because there was way too much food. I do somewhat miss some items on their old menu. They did have a pretty big menu before with so many options. But now its a smaller menu but they did keep some of the most popular items such as their tofu soups, their hot stone rice, seafood pancake, their hot pots stews, and their fried chicken. When I came in, I got the army stew; however, it seems like a bit diluted. The flavor was pretty plain, lots of spam and ham. It was pretty much a big pot of water with not enough ingredients to fill the spaces. We also go a spicy pork belly hot stone rice which was pretty good. Great flavor, just yum. The service was great. Wasn't too sure who was our server since there was two female servers but they were both very nice and kind. Ever since my Korean girlfriend recommended this place, this is now my go to Korean spot! The food is better than my two other regular frequent Korean places but the service and freshness of sides I had at this last visit, impressed me! Quick, efficient water refills too! This assisted with putting out the fire from in my mouth from the kimchi. This is the only place in AZ where I can find raw marinated crab. Mkt price was $35.99 but they gave a big portion which I loved. They put way too much spicy sauce and it was too sweet for me, but the quality of the crab was good so I ended up taking them home and washing the sauce off. Ban Chan was very good and generous. Purple rice was delicious too. Service was super friendly and attentive. I'll be back for the crab, just know they go heavy on the sauce. read more

I did notice a few things were removed from the menu like the fried rice and I was disappointed but the food today made up for it. This place is unassuming from the outside but it is quite the gem! I went here for lunch with my gf and two of our friends. I had the *Bulgogi Hot Stone* and my gf had the *Bibim Neng-Myum / Galbi combo*. We also got a seafood pancake as an appetizers. Some general thoughts: - Portions are huuuge! This was a big plus. - Lunch came with complimentary banchan (Kimchi and other pickled appetizers). I was not expecting banchan, so it was a nice surprise. - Service was prompt and there were no issues finding a table for Sunday lunch, even though this restaurant seems to be pretty popular from other reviews. I have only been here once, but I really liked my bulgogi hot stone. If you haven't had much Korean food before, it's basically a griddle with rice, vegetables, and Korean BBQ beef topped with a raw egg that cooks in the hot griddle. The beef was extremely tender and packed with flavor! I wasn't allowed to try my gfs dish, but she said she really liked it. The only note on her dish is that the noodles are served cold in this traditional Korean dish (in case you were expecting something warm) and the Galbi was served on the side. When she ordered, she wasn't sure if the meat would be part of the noodle dish or separate. This was definitely not an issue, just something to point out. The seafood pancake app was delicious. In retrospect, we probably should not have ordered it since the lunch portions were so big, but I can totally work that off at the gym later. But since Koreatown is on the way to my gym, I might as well stop there again for lunch... I would, and will likely go again.
