In the past, Kona has always gotten 5 stars from me, yet my last few visits have been lacking a bit. The service last night was great, so no problems there. However, my chopped salad was served without the hard boiled egg, and my Chilean sea bass did not taste anything like normal. It is usually light and flaky with a light miso sauce. This time it was over cooked and had a sweet, crispy, brown sauce on it. It wasn't bad, but wasn't the delicious meal I've regularly been ordering for the past couple of years. Chilean sea bass is so delightful on its own, it definitely didn't need to have its flavor and texture covered up. My boyfriend ordered the salmon, which he enjoyed. The fried rice was ok, not great. I hope things get back to normal as this is one of my favorite restaurants at which to enjoy a healthy and delicious meal! read more

We stopped by here for happy hour where we found there to be some excellent choices on the menu with happy hour prices. We ended up getting the California roll, crunchy crab roll, barbecue chicken flatbread, and edamame and for my birthday dessert we got the ultimate chocolate fudge brownie. Our server Nicole Edwards was super friendly and very pleasant to be around. They have a nice side patio but we ended up sitting in the bar area which had a really fun vibe to it. read more

Kona is overpriced and the quality is not good. The iced tea was brought and it was cloudy and tasted old. We ordered water to drink. I even thought to myself we should pay for the tea and leave. We opened our menu and prices were high. We opened with the $20 appetizer, Avocado Egg rolls. These were tasty and very good. The dip that came with it was good also. But you only get 4 halves for $20. Shockingly over priced. The garnish was dressed but again very little like 2 tablespoons. We had avocado egg roles at another restaurant across (Coopers Hawk) the street and it was ample and the garnish was excellent and the cost was $16. 6 large halves and a full garnish that was out of this world good. My husband ordered Pad Thai and the noodles were rubbery and the flavor bland, The price of this was $29. Shockingly low quality. Like it was microwaved before it was brought out. Sticky and barely any chicken and no veggies. Plenty of egg though. I ordered the steak burger. $25 with fries, The steak burger was two thin patties that tasted like the frozen ones I make from Costco, not horrible but a downgrade not anything worth near $25. In N Out is by far better. The fries came out luke warm and disappointing, Asked for Ranch for dipping and it was watered down. Overall we will never go back. Prices did not meet expectation and not only did they not meet it, even if we paid half we would not go back. Such a shame, Kona was quite good years ago, Definitely not what they used to be. read more

Tim! You're a wonderful, beautiful human who is da.mn good at his job. I have ever been to Kona Grill before and stopped by on a whim. Tim was knowledgeable about menu and helped me decide and brought a few samples to help me make the final down select. The food was pretty bomb. I had the Lemongrass Clam Chowder, the Sushi and Salad and the Carrot Cake. All were quite good. The chowder was full of flavor, not too much salt and subtle undertones of lemongrass. The sushi and salad were pretty good. The salad did t have too much sauce. The lettuce was fresh and crunchy. The sushi was quite good. It goes well with the fresh wasabi they have for a dollar extra. My favorite was the carrot cake. Omg It Is Amazing Here's a pic of the food. Tim's friendly service was consistent from start finish. Kona is a great place to eat, I like that they have a variety of options to choose from on the menu. I've gone on many different occasions and the portions are large enough to share,unless you're really hungry. The atmosphere is chill and our server Angelica was amazing! She was very attentive to us and helpful with explaining menu options. She made sure to check inon us ensuring we had everything we needed. She's a very sweet young lady. Went here for lunch today and was very underwhelmed and unimpressed. Inside of the restaurant needs a good cleaning and wipe down. Every surface has some sort of greasy grime to it, carpet needs to be vacuumed at the least, probably ripped out. Very run down for what used to be a nice place. We sat within a clear view of kitchen and it really needs to be maintained and cleaned as well. Lots of trash and food on the floor and just not clean looking at all. To-Go boxes hanging off shelves near the floor. Pretty grossed out with that as our lunch view. The service was not very good either. We waited forever for 3 sushi rolls and a kids meal. Spicy tuna roll was caked in spicy mayo, like beyond an appetizing amount. Soy sauce was given to us with the bottle covered in ketchup. We had to ask for a clean bottle. Anytime we needed anything we had to ask, if we could find our server. Servers were very inattentive for being a slow afternoon. Very disappointed in our experience all around and certainly not what we expected for $100 lunch. Wish we would've looked elsewhere for a place to eat in the mall. Used to love Kona a long time ago but there needs to be some changes before we will be wanting to try it again. read more

Very very good tonight! Caught the Kona Lager $3 pint HH special. Light and delicious! Cilantro lime chicken was so delicious! Great citrusy sauce and the turmeric rice was awesome! He had the rib-eye and it was ratty too. A little greasy and maybe the garlic butter should come on the side. Service was fine and consistent. Brooke did a great job! I'm giddy to discover the entrees are seriously good and to have more choices than rolls and salads. read more

My family and I went here a few weeks ago on a Saturday night. We had not eaten here in years and my husband was not a fan but we decided to give it another try. We put our name down on the waitlist and were asked if we would sit on the patio. I said no since it was freezing out and we had just came from a soccer game and I was still cold from sitting outside. After about 30 minutes they called us. The host started walking us towards the patio and I stopped them to clarify where our seats were. They tried sitting us at a table that was partially on the patio. I reminded them that we requested inside. They apologized and said it would only be a few more minutes. I kept checking in and finally 30 minutes later we were seated at an indoor booth. YAY! After waiting a bit, the server came by and took our drink order. I also put in my son's order as I know kids can't wait for their food :) His food came out and we put in our food order. While we still waited on food we put in my son's desert order. My husband and I joked that if his desert came out before our dinner we were going to cancel our food order. Sure enough that is exactly what happened! After waiting an hour we no longer wanted our food and canceled our order. To make matters worse, a manager came by to apologize and instead of comping my son's desert or something else she gave us a COUPON to return. We left those on the table. We have no intention of ever going back. It was such a disappointing experience. With so many restaurant options around why would we ever risk this experience again?!? read more

We went here for restaurant week and was not disappointed. I had the Picasso roll for an appetizer, it was filling. The jalapeño topping was extra spicy. For my entree, I had the prime rib (medium well) and it paired well with the ajus. Omg the mashed potatoes were full of flavor...buttery, creamy and garlicy. And the winner of the night, was dessert. Both rum and carrot cakes will satisfy your sweet tooth. Definitely recommend. It got busy during lunch. They do reservations, so if you have a big party, it's best to get that. My son ordered a root beer with his kids meal and it was $9 on top of the cost of the kids meal. It said that soda was included with the kids meal, however, the server did not mention that the root beer in a bottle would be $9 more. Ridiculous! My husband's IPA beer was only $8. Makes no sense. We also ordered avocado egg rolls, they were $20 and tasted horrible. The sushi at Fry's grocery store is 100 times better and at a fraction of the cost. I'm so disappointed and will never return to Kona Grill. The kids burgers were microwaved and kids chicken finger and green beans tasted as if they were frozen and then warmed up. We were able to get a table on short notice with Open Table. We arrived a few minutes early and were seated immediately. Started with Polly bubble drink which was delicious Ordered 2 rolls -California and crunchy crab. Both were very good, just took a while to show up. Our server understood and took them off our bill. Hubby had the steak which was cooked perfectly. The only issue was the green beans were very al dente I had the sweet and blue salad with the macadamia nut chicken. Heard great things about this place over the years. I was disappointed to find out its just a chili's with sushi. They charge quite high for middle of the road plates. I was hoping the extra price might denote a little extra quality or fun signature flavor or even some excitement on the plate, but nope no fun here. the flavors were all middling. I had them refill my ice tea and it continued to taste like it was second or even third brewed, had a cardboard filter taste to it. $20 for 6 pot stickers. $18 for a 5 piece vegetarian roll. $37 for fish and chips which was just a breaded fish fillet and small handful of steak fries like you get from red robin. Light Lunch for two people ended up being nearly $100 with tip... I also noticed all the tables had the finishing rubbing off on the corners, it makes it look run down a bit. WTF? Kona Grill used to be one of our favorite casual restaurants. The food was very good and reasonably priced. Not now. We ordered two Asian salads, a large and a regular and two iced teas. There was very little difference in quantity between the two and they changed the recipe: basically Napa cabbage and red cabbage and almost nothing else. The formerly wonderful soy ginger and vinegar dressing was unrecognizable and very bland. The large salad cost $19 WITHOUT PROTEIN. Adding chicken would have brought the total price to $27!! Disgusting. If I could give zero stars I would. Went in for the Fourth of July for drinks during happy hour. The initial bartender was kind but was replaced by a blonde bartender who was dressed festive for the holiday. She was rude. When it came time to order my last cocktail I asked for something specific and watched her add other mixtures that I didn't ask for. I've had things done to my drinks in the past so this made me uneasy. It didn't taste the same as the other bartender had made. Thankfully another bartender came on shift and I told him what happened and asked that he remake the drink, he did thankfully but I was charged for it. I was actually charged full price for my beverages during happy hour. I didn't feel comfortable raising the issue in person so I just left. Before leaving I used the restroom. It was disgusting. I called to speak to a manager to tell of my experience and ask to be properly reimbursed, I was transferred multiple times then hung up on. I will be going back to speak with a manager in person. How I was treated verses how I saw others treated is unacceptable. Dine here with caution. Service may not be the greatest. I can't speak for the food, I've only ever had cocktails here.
